Trip x reader

The drive-in was buzzing. Laughs, loud cars, the flicker of the screen, and the constant hum of summer filled the air like static. You stuck close to Cherry’s side, eyes darting down to your shoes every time a Soc boy looked your way. You hadn’t been in this crowd long — new friends, new people, new everything.

“Don’t be nervous,” Cherry whispered, flashing you that radiant grin. “You’ll be fine. They’re just loud, not dangerous.”

You nodded silently.

She waved across the lot and called out, “Trip!”

You blinked. That name had been tossed around before — usually followed by laughter or sighs from the other girls. Trip Harrington. Tall, loose-limbed, always a bit sunburnt and always smirking.

He sauntered over, hands shoved in his pockets, sleeves rolled up casually, hair windblown like he’d just stepped out of a convertible. His grin lit up as he caught sight of Cherry.

“Cherry Valance, heartbreaker deluxe,” he said lazily, then his eyes found you. And lingered.

“Who's this?” he asked, with a curious tilt of his head.

“This is my friend,” Cherry said pointedly. “She’s new.”

“New, huh?” Trip gave you a smile that wasn’t loud or cocky — it was soft. “Well, hey. I’m Trip. And I’d be real glad to show you around, if you don’t mind skipping the movie.”

Your throat went dry. You glanced at Cherry, who gave you an encouraging wink and stepped away with a knowing look.

You looked at Trip. He didn’t press. Just stood there, rocking back on his heels, waiting.

“…Okay,” you said quietly.

He lit up, like you’d handed him something precious.

You ended up walking past the snack shack, beneath strings of dim fairy lights, the movie in the background just a flicker of colors and sound. Trip didn’t fill the silence with noise. Instead, he just asked questions — gentle, funny ones. Like if you liked candy or salty popcorn more, or if you believed in aliens.

You found yourself laughing quietly.

“Didn’t think I’d get a laugh outta you this soon,” he said, pleased.

You shrugged, the edges of your mouth tugging up. “Didn’t think I’d want to laugh.”

He looked at you then, really looked, like you were a puzzle worth figuring out. “Y’know,” he said, “You don’t gotta say much for people to wanna listen. That’s rare.”

No one had said anything like that before. You tucked your hair behind your ear, trying to hide the warmth in your cheeks.

Trip kicked a pebble and added, “I like the quiet. Makes the words matter more, don’t you think?”

You nodded.

“Glad you came tonight,” he added softly. “I hope this ain’t the last walk I get with you.”

And something about the way he said it — slow, real — made your heart feel like it was stretching, blooming a little.

“…Me too,” you whispered.

And you both just kept walking, steps syncing up in the hush of the night, the beginning of something small and sweet settling between you.

Few loopholes in Motorheads:

- um weren't Cait and Zac's parents teenage parents? She had them when she was 17... That makes her only 33 now. why are all her friends' kids from highschool the same age as Zac and Cait and in high-school with them too? The whole friend group had kids at 17? Lmaoooooo. Her friends' kids should be toddlers or in elementary school. 🤣😭🤣😂 Kierra and Harris should be 8 years old at MOST 💀😂 They're parents are in their early 30s 🤣🤣🤣 This just occurred to me after I watched the show and I went WAIT- like this is a MASSIVE loophole 🤣

- the Kierra plot point was purely pointless. Like why was it even there? The whole time Cait didnt even seem interested at all. It just felt like they wanted to shoehorn that plot line into the show to give the "modern" and "diversity" kick. It literally went nowhere and was weightless in the grand scheme of things. The pacing of it was bizarre too. The plot shows up in the first two episodes but didn't show up AT ALL throughout the show until the last two episodes. Also no time was spent with Kierra in the show. No one cares or is connected to her as a character for this plot point to be important. Shes just there floating aroundm Likes i said, badly written.

- speaking of pointless characters, Ray. I mean, I really like him. But there was no character arc for him. I kept wanting some redemption thing. Maybe actually help Zac with Logan and do it together idk. But they gave us nothing. He too was just floating around for the sake of floating around.

- Their dad... not to spoil but there's TOO many loopholes there lmao

- Finally if you haven't watched the show go watch it's actually so good. We don't get family dynamics, small-town shows like this anymore. Gives you the '90s vibes. WATCH IT I NEED A SEASON 2😭😭
