Idea Proposal 2 - The Spirit That Roams The Sea of Galaxy.

Idea proposed by Aida Sabrina

Whale meanings and symbolism include magnificence, communication, music, protection, gratitude, wisdom, transformation, and psychic abilities. When mentioning whales, it is common to associate them with being the guardians of the ocean because of their mannerisms and because they are the largest mammals in the sea. Thus, the whale spirit animal is an important figure to those who feel a strong kinship with these magnificent sea mammals (Kristen, 2023).

Upon researching, I have found very interesting similarities among folklore from Ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, and Norse mythology where they all view whales carrying a world (an island) on it’s back from the beginning of time. Hence, for this project, when we’re in the modern world, I’d like to create a world where all these creatures with similar traits are in another universe, safe from humans.

North America also has a story associated with whales, which I think has potential to be applied to the project. In Inuit mythology, there is the story of ��The Raven and the Whale’. The raven is the creator of the world, and though he is, he doesn’t have much knowledge of what he has created. When he saw a whale, he wanted to explore the insides of it and entered once the whale opened it’s mouth for a big yawn. When the raven was inside, he saw a beautiful maiden dancing around. When offered an escape, the maiden denied it by saying, “No. I cannot leave. I am the heart and soul of the whale.”

Conclusion: To put it simply, the whale is a big symbol of wisdom and protection. Whales are seen as creatures that carried islands or worlds on their backs at the beginning of time. Having it roam the sky will make it a guardian of the world.

IDEATION

1) CHARACTERS:

Whale-like creature

Jellyfish, mantas, stingrays, etc. These won’t be designed based on real animals.

2) WORLD Speaking of environment, I would like to use the duration to describe how the guardian and other sea creatures roam around the world from day to sunset and transition to the galaxy (or nighttime with a full moon and northern lights, idea by Tej).
