Big thanks to @Karon.Hepburn and my partner @desti.knee taking care of business 🙏🏽❤️ Needless to say the gallery was overrun by requests today!! lol Including @Naomi who was an eager bidder at last night’s event. ‘Cheeky Little Astronomer IV’ is a playful sculpture by #YinkaShonibare that depicts a young girl kneeling on a wooden chair, gazing through a telescope towards the heavens. Fascinated by geographical & cultural identity, Shonibare fuses different references in this work. The child’s figure recalls western classicism, while her Victorian costume & chair serve as reminders of Britain’s colonial past.
