So im gonna liveblog pmd eos bc im playing it and fuck naming characters for me is always esoteric, so I think it'd be fun to talk it out.

I'm picking riolu for a partner, and i have a lucario oc already called Bishop, and I could just use them for this. but the vibes are off! and also bishop is a robot so it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense.

My logic here though is that Riolu is the 'mon you get as a Sassy quiz result, and Sassy answers are all about perfectionism. I want to lean into that a bit. looking through synonyms for perfectionism and pinnacles and all that, I found a word - Cynosure, a way of describing someone as the center of attention. This word, perfectly enough, stems from greek: from kuōn, kun- ‘dog’ + oura ‘tail’. Riolu's a dog, so it's actually really perfect.

Going back a bit in kuōn's lifespan, I find it's IPA pronunciation in Koine Greek - /ˈcy.on/

I think Cyon is a very nice looking word so. Cyon it is.

I picked Shinx mostly because the person working at Chunsoft that did their sprite work captured really well how cute they are, especially by giving them little one-pixel fangs.
