I had to use the "embarrassed blush" trope for RotE.

Only problem : which moment does NOT fit ? Each sentence, each fragment is "here they go again" "now is not the time" "seriously ? In front of my skill-salad ?"

Congrats to Fitz for never embarrassing himself with animals. Except that time with the cat and the rat. Oops.

I hesitated to do the "Verity and Fitz sharing dreams" but it was too difficult to make them look different in such positions... For another time. Maybe.

I was glad to draw lacey ! (just her hair but it counts!)

Fitz & the Fool

All the times these two characters met in the Farseer trilogy by Robin Hobb.

I can't believe how much of ass quest is the fool getting sick, the fool passing out, fitz tugging blankets around the fool, fitz bridal carrying the fool, the fool deliriously nuzzling into fitz's shoulder, fitz tenderly attending to the fool to the point that kettricken has to scold him for cleaving the group with his obvious favoritism. I write whump fanfic and even I have more chill than this. it's great.

if assassin's apprentice is a map of all the ways in which fitz is lonely, and then royal assassin is a foray into how unloveable he truly believes he is, then the last third book, assassin's quest, is a lesson in everything love can achieve. and what a beautiful, triumphant ending, even when at times bittersweet.

Fitz is granted 15 years of peace at the end of the Farseer Trilogy, 15 years he spends with Nighteyes. They travel, they hunt, they live to their lives's content. Loosing Nighteyes after all these years rips his life apart. But at the end of the Tawny Man Trilogy, we learn that Fitz lived partially forged. What cruelty is this, to learn that Nighteyes spend the majority of his life with a version of Fitz that did not have the full capacity for happiness? Who could not appreciate their simple life? Nighteyes knew that Fitz giving away his memories and emotions would have consequences. It is why he intervened. And yet. And yet, he was the crutch Fitz leaned on for 15 years. Without him, would Fitz have experienced any satisfaction at all? Any joy? What must it have been like for Nighteyes to see his partner so reduced with no way to remedy Fitz? What must it have been like, to know that he was dying and that he had leave Fitz alone to this fate?

What must it feel like for Fitz, recovered from the Forging by the Fool's kiss, to realise that he did not do right by Nighteyes? With no way to ever redeem himself???
