FAQs
How much does it cost to move a billiard table?
The price of moving a pool table depends on several factors. These include the size and weight of the table, the distance to be covered, and the difficulty of disassembling and reassembling the table. The price may be affected by additional services like recushioning and re-carpeting. To compare costs, it's best to get quotes from several professional movers. Contacting the company directly is usually the best way to obtain a free or firm quote.
How much does it cost to have someone set up a pool table?
Costs for setting up a pooltable can vary depending on a number of factors. These include the type and size of the table, the location and any other services needed. This may include leveling the pool table, replacing felt or adjusting rails. To ensure proper installation, and to prevent damage, it's best to hire a professional. It's best that you contact a pool table professional for an accurate estimate.
Can you move a pool table without professionals?
It is possible to move a pool-table without the help of professionals, but it's not recommended. Pool tables are heavy, complex pieces of furniture which require expert handling. The wrong disassembly and reassembly of a pool table can cause damage or imbalance. Imagine moving a table weighing 1,200 pounds with delicate slate. The risk of damage would be high. Hiring professionals will ensure safe transport and proper setup so you can enjoy your pool table with no hassle.
Do you tip pool table movers?
Tipping pool table movers or other service providers is common and an excellent way to thank them for their work. Tipping can be varied, but the standard is 5-10% of total service costs or $20 to $40 per mover. You can consider tipping extra if you feel the movers did a great job. Tipping is appreciated but not mandatory.

Stress-Free Piano Moving Services in Dubai: A Complete Guide
Moving to a new home or office is always a challenging task, especially when you have delicate and heavy items like a piano. The good news is that professional piano movers in Jumeirah are here to help you move your prized instrument safely and securely. In this blog, we will guide you through the importance of hiring experts to move your piano and how to make your relocation as stress-free as possible.
Why Hire Professional Piano Movers in Dubai?
Pianos are not only heavy, but they are also intricate and costly instruments. Trying to move a piano on your own can lead to significant damage to the piano or your property. Here’s why hiring professional piano movers in Dubai is essential for a smooth and successful relocation:
Expertise in Handling Delicate Items
Moving a piano requires more than just muscle. It takes expertise to ensure that the instrument is safely moved without causing harm to it or the surrounding area. Professional piano movers in Dubai know the best techniques to lift, secure, and transport pianos of all sizes and types.
The Right Tools and Equipment
Moving a piano involves specialized equipment, such as dollies, ramps, and blankets to cushion the instrument. Without these tools, the risk of damaging the piano increases. Professional movers come equipped with the right tools to handle the move efficiently and safely.
Ensuring the Piano’s Safety
The most important reason to hire professionals is the safety of your piano. Pianos are expensive and delicate, and any mishandling could lead to costly repairs. By hiring experts, you ensure that the piano is transported securely and arrives at its destination without a scratch.
Piano Movers in Jumeirah: Moving Services for a Luxurious Area
Jumeirah is known for its upscale properties and luxury homes. Moving a piano in this area may present challenges, but piano movers in Jumeirah are highly experienced in handling moves in such neighborhoods. Here’s how professional movers can assist you in Jumeirah:
Navigating Tight Spaces
Many homes in Jumeirah feature narrow hallways, stairs, and sometimes tight elevators. Professional piano movers are skilled at navigating these tricky spaces. They can carefully maneuver your piano through obstacles, ensuring that it remains safe during the entire process.
Timely and Professional Service
Jumeirah is home to many busy professionals, so time is of the essence. Professional piano movers in this area understand the importance of punctuality and will arrive on time to ensure the job is done efficiently. They have the experience to move your piano quickly and without delay.
Furniture Assembly and Disassembly Services: Convenience and Ease
In addition to piano moving, many movers in Dubai offer Furniture Assembly and Disassembly Services. This service is particularly helpful if you have large or complex furniture that needs to be taken apart for easier transportation. Here’s why you should consider these services:
Simplifying the Moving Process
Disassembling large furniture like wardrobes, beds, and tables is time-consuming and requires proper tools. By opting for furniture assembly and disassembly services, you eliminate this task from your moving to-do list. This service allows for smoother and quicker transportation of bulky furniture.
Avoiding Damage
Improper disassembly or reassembly of furniture can lead to damage, such as broken parts or lost screws. Professional movers know how to disassemble and reassemble furniture without causing harm. This ensures that your furniture remains in great condition throughout the move.
More Efficient Packing
Disassembled furniture is easier to pack and move. It can fit better into moving trucks, maximizing space and reducing the chances of damage during transport. Professional movers will pack your furniture carefully, ensuring it’s safe and secure throughout the move.
Movers and Packers in Jumeirah: Comprehensive Relocation Solutions
Moving can be overwhelming, especially when it involves packing, transporting, and unpacking all your belongings. Hiring movers and packers in Jumeirah can make your relocation much easier. Here’s what these experts can do for you:

They don't tell you anything about how to disassemble the starships. Couple years ago, I was hanging out in my backyard when this thing came out of the sky. Big smash, wreckage everywhere, lots of smelly gross stuff all over my lawn. Government came. Then bigger government. Then the biggest government. Turns out the smelly gross stuff was what was left of the aliens who were piloting it. Sorry if you're eating alien stew right now.
Anyway, they took all the wreckage with them, and left me with a giant hole in my yard. That's where my attorney came in. Let me tell you about my attorney. Have you ever been hyperfocused on something to a degree that people just let you get away with it, because it was easier than trying to fight you? Max is like that with the law. He went after the government for the damage to my fence, and accidentally found out that whatever agency took the wreckage away didn't take out the correct permit to do so. So they had to return the wrecked alien spaceship, and also write me a little letter of apology. That's it over there, on the fridge. They welched on the fence money, though. City hall, what are you gonna do?
Now I had a space ship in my backyard, and I needed to figure out how to take it apart. Normally, this is not a big problem, but I couldn't even identify the kind of screws those little green bastards had used. I went to the library to look for a service manual for the thing, and found a Starship Technical Manual. Perfect, I thought, until I got home and found out it's just full of shit from Star Trek. Didn't even contain any useful information about disassembling the spaceships, and the end of every chapter says "installation is the reverse of assembly." Fuck you, asshole. I just wanted to know what size wrench to use to remove dilithium crystals.
For me, my primary motivation is spite, and I was now feeling quite spiteful indeed about all the bastards who didn't want me to open up this cool-ass space ship. Through a combination of bottle jacks, oxy-acetylene cutters, and one of those little packages of plastic tools that the mall sells to remove the screen on your iPhone, I was in. Unfortunately, all that I had gotten for my hard work was more hammered alien corpse over every available surface. Even their batteries didn't plug into any of my stuff. I stuck that shit right back on eBay. Had to pay for my fence.

Dunno if we're still talking about non-villainous jobs for the League, but Mr. Compress would be amazing in deliveries! Especially for large stuff like furniture. I mean, you go from needing a whole truck and possibly having to disassemble and reassemble it to it fitting into your pocket inside a little ball, fully assembled, only need to get into place.
He would do numbers at a moving company too. Want all your stuff out your old house and in the new one in just one trip? We've got the man for you! He's expensive though XD
Oh you are SO right. Especially for, like you said, furniture that would normally have to be disassembled, or even moved up several flights of stairs or something. I imagine he would also be pretty highly covered by any sort of cargo transportation company. I mean his marbles are clearly much lighter than whatever is inside of them seeing as he can still toss them about with ease even if there's hundreds of pounds of material inside. Think about how much more stuff a truck could hold if every individual piece of cargo was even just 1/10 of the size and weight (which is most likely a conservative estimate if its hauling larger freight!)
He's absolutely expensive as hell tho, especially for wealthy clients. He's charging them through the roof for his services

Gabriella Ferrigine at Salon:
John Oliver on Sunday's episode of "Last Week Tonight" delved into how former President Donald Trump's second term could hypothetically play out given that polls give him an edge over President Joe Biden. “You can go on his website and see it all laid out, and it’s pretty alarming,” Oliver said, before playing a clip of Trump articulating his plans to dismantle trans rights. "I will ask Congress to pass a bill establishing that the only genders recognized by the United States government are male and female, and they are assigned at birth," Trump said in the clip. "No serious country should be telling its children that they were born with the wrong with the wrong gender," he added, claiming that it is a concept "never heard of in all of human history" until it was recently invented by "the radical left." "That is really the Trump experience in a nutshell right there," Oliver said. "Hateful ideology, a promise to make life harder for minorities, all wrapped up in a non sequitur so stupid it is inconveniently funny. The radical left invented trans people a few years ago? I’m sorry. What?!? Did they put it on 'Shark Tank' and I somehow missed it?” The host then brought up a number of Trump's other plans if he assumes the presidency again, including mass deportation, requiring local law enforcement agencies to implement controversial policing tactics such as stop-and-frisk, slashing funding for schools that implement a mask or vaccine mandate, and impose a universal tariff of at least 10% on all imports.
"He's promising to get revenge on his enemies," Oliver said. "At rallies he’s told supporters that ‘I am your retribution,’ which sounds like something you’d hear out of the mouth of Megatron rather than a major presidential candidate." "He's been specific about who will be on the receiving end of that retribution," Oliver added, before showing footage of Trump claiming that he will "root out communists, Marxists, fascists, and the radical left thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country, that lie and steal and cheat on elections and will do anything possible — they'll do anything — whether legally or illegally to destroy America and destroy the American dream." "Was he falling asleep at the end there?" Oliver jokingly asked. "Second, it's not usually a great sign when a politician starts referring to groups as vermin, unless of course they're running for mayor of Zootopia and they're gunning for the little Rodentia votes."
[...] Project 2025's 900-page handbook, for example, includes plans for dismantling the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration because it is "one of the main drivers of the climate change alarm industry." Oliver observed other initiatives included in the handbook, such as installing a pro-life task force to replace Biden's reproductive healthcare task force, disassembling the FBI, defunding the Department of Justice, outlawing pornography, and more. Speaking about the two figures spearheading Project 2025, Trump associates Russ Vought and John McEntee, Oliver said, “Their goal here is clear: To assemble an army of vetted, trained staff who can begin dismantling the administrative state from day one."
On the most recent episode of HBO’s Last Week Tonight that aired last Sunday, host John Oliver had an alarming segment about how Project 2025 would harm America in a multitude of ways.

Former Hero Gets a Wheelchair
Today was the day.
After months of hardly getting out of bed, months of fighting the agency’s insurance plan, months of insisting that the hero’s condition was, in fact, service related, they were finally getting a custom wheelchair delivered.
Today, they got their independence back.
The doorbell rang and Hero had never moved faster on their cane, rubber tip taps and accompanying footsteps echoing through their entryway as they reached the door. Opening it, they were greeted with a beautiful sight. A smiling worker stood behind their brand new chair.
The rigid frame was coated in a metallic blue, with shining push rims to match. Black metal completed the footrest and backrest support, blending into the black wheels and side guards. It looked sleek; It looked perfect.
Waved in by the former hero, the worker lifted the caster wheels over the door frame, pushing the chair up and inside before locking the small silver brakes.
“You ready to take her for a spin?” They asked, and the hero grinned from ear to ear. They took a seat, sliding back till their hips were settled. The worker pointed out the buckle and Hero clicked it shut.
“Safety first,” they nodded and the worker chuckled in response.
Brakes unlocked, they pushed, and they glided like they were on a cloud.
They sighed at the ease of movement, moving down the hallway with little pain. It had been so long since they could just move. They missed moving just for the fun of it, for the rush of wind in their hair and adrenaline coursing through their veins. They missed jumping across rooftops, turning their feet on a dime, climbing walls, and starting fights that they could actually win.
Overwhelmed with the return of that feeling, they found themselves increasing their speed more than what may have been advisable around the house. Consequently, when they tried to turn around, they clipped the doorframe, leaving a scuff mark on the plaster and a slight damper on their confidence.
“Takes a little getting used to,” the worker assured.
Hero continued, slightly abashed at their excitement. The worker watched, then suggested they raise the footplate a little to accommodate Hero’s thin soled shoes. After a moment with an Allen wrench, Hero was properly fitted into their new wheelchair.
Now, it just needed a name.
In their time as a Hero, they had practiced restraint when fighting countless villains. They never aimed to maim or hurt more than necessary, even if the villains pointedly did not return the favor. Ever since being forced to retire, Hero carried that sentiment into their civilian life too. However, there were times when they wished to be a little petty. Sometimes, when people blocked ramps or stared at them a little too judgingly, they wished warm pillows and bad hair days upon them. Their prayers for minor inconveniences rose especially when they saw news of a certain villain, who Hero suspected to have a set of very crushable toes.
Maybe, Hero would have to pay them a little visit, with the help of the brand new Metatarsal Muncher.
They couldn’t wait to get out of the house, to be able to function on a daily basis. They were going to get groceries, get out to retirement-events, go outside with a sense of focus not being spent on trying to stay upright, shop without a mind clouded with pain.
If only it hadn’t taken them this long to accept what they needed.
The worker showed them how to disassemble the chair. The ultra-light wheels came off with a button press in the middle, the cushion was removed so the back could fold down. Hero got to assemble it back themselves and, satisfied, the worker bid them goodbye with some maintenance and care instructions.
Far too excited to wait, the former Hero loaded their chair into the car and headed for the park, thrilled to go watch the robins and blue jays hop between the trees. Once, the former hero had envied their freedom, the ease with which they traveled and lived their lives. They had wished they could soar above the sky and dive down back to the ground. Now, as they followed the smooth concrete path through the oaks and the birches, they made peace with their own kind of freedom.
It may not look the same as it once did, but life moved on.
If they had earned nothing else in their time as a hero, it was the right to live their life in the least amount of pain possible. Despite any reservations, they would use this tool to help them, and if anyone had a problem with that, they would meet the wrath of the Metatarsal Muncher.

"The Solver demands fuel, and I'm inclined to oblige."
Character consistency?! What's that?
for real I've been slowly cooking my big OC for MD: Echelons
This is "The Benefactor" the Supreme Commander of the Legion
Place of Assembly: Earth System- {REDACTED}
Product Line: CYN-MYKX
Serial Designation: LD-AED000100100
Real Name: {REDACTED}
Mechanical Age: 25
Solar Cycle Age: 49
Mental Age: 22
"The Supreme Commander of the Legion, the confidant to the Solver, she is known by many names. The Darkstar, The Solver's Iron Hand, The Monster of Earth, Baba Yaga, but we... we call her The Benefactor. She is our savior. She is our leader, and we will tear apart the stars themselves in service to her dream"
- Major Malora of the Legion 30XX
She is charactered by a strong hate for all things, but not entirely. As she will employ a systems local populace, flora and fauna to be used and in fact is hiding a softer more immature side. merciless, intelligent and manipulative but not extensively so. She venerates Cyn as the prime host of the Absolute Solver and constantly refers to them as 'Master, Lord, and the titles given in Episode 5 (Solver of the Absolute Fabric, The Void, etc.)' as a result of this most of her original personality has been replaced with a sick interpretation of Cyn's she intelligent but not 'plans the end of the universe' smart, she's manipulative but not 'basically make Humanity cast the die for their own genocide' manipulative and silly but not as much. She is also very self righteous and values 'Legion Dogs' Legionnaires who very much act the part of a proper military (Saluting, bowing, being very serious, etc.) but her veil can quickly falter. Joining in with the grunts for board games or party games, speaking more like a teenager, doing robo-drugs, and racing or play video games (yes they have those) but while aboard her fleet or leading troops she is merciless, a Legionnaire is injured well that's a field execution for them being 'worthless' and then will later get blasted by an auto cannon herself. Yet despite these traits not being ones you'd respect in a person and would probably dislike, many lower rank Legionnaires appreciate her joining in on their fun and being a leader they can 'talk to' unlike the few poor unfortunate souls that were there for an audience with the Solver before. While the Higher ranking Legionaries respect her because she leads by example, leading forces on the front line instead of leading from a rear command center's intel table. Wherever you find The Benefactor you will also find Alpha and Zeta, the DD's assigned to her as bodyguards (at least during night-time, during the Day she is protected by Viper Squad , an Elite unit of Legion Drones), thus amplifying her already extremely deadly presence millions-fold by having Disassemblers always nearby
A big inspiration of what the Legion is comes from her and @liamvickersanimation original design for the Murder Drones
but what if they were more 'blocky' and less sleek and advanced looking, like more Wall-E to your EVE
Some of the Legion's more noticeable traits is uniform markings and no clothes, they are supposed to be expendable grunts, and the only ones that get to distinguish themselves need to distinguish themselves first on the battlefront and because of this concept The Benefactor is the most advanced Legion Drone being along the same product line CYN-MYKX like the other Disassemblers, but she's the Alpha model but still droves more advanced compared to the rest of the Legion. If I had to power scale them, The Benefactor could go toe to toe with one of the DD's from the main series purely based on her SKILL since she's been fighting a war against the {REDACTED} and thus has been fighting things that challenged her skill and taught her more compared to the DD's that basically have been curb stomping Star Systems casually the past 20 odd years, never really putting their combat systems to the test.
Some differences our dear Commander and the Legion has compared to her DD counterparts also are
A LIMITED ARSENAL: her arms and legs carry a limited supply of weapons and tools compared to the 'whatever the plot desires/ infinite' combinations that the DD's have (I head canon this is because the dormant Solver code in their systems just generating ammo/weapons/tools at will) while other Legionnaires need to actually BRING weapons and ammo
NO REGENERATION: Due to the Legion not having the Absolute Solver code, they can not regenerate and thus need to be repaired when damaged (which they oft are not and just stripped for spare parts for more High Value Legionnaires)
WHITE AND BLACK/RED LED'S: A Legionnaires normal LED color is white but when they go into combat mode they go red and their primary color scheme is white with black strips/markings (this is lore important later you'll see ;) ) *plus i would rather them have black 'armbands' (markings) than red for OBVIOUS REASONS BEING OBVIOUS so yes despite the Legion's emblem being drawn darker, its actually white*
(Unique to The Benefactor) OMNI EYE HALO: Due to hardware limitations she has a Recon Ping that manifests as a halo or multiple halos that do quick on demand local scans and then feeding that info into her visor, so they function like the multiple 'eyes' of the DD but they have to be manually activated instead of being active all the time
(Unique to High Ranking Legionnaires) JET FIGHTER WINGS: While you might be saying, "Solace but those are super cool how is that a consequential difference than the disassembly drones?" Well, Taylor, let me tell you why, while the large jet fighter wings are cool they are characterized by needing fuel, and limited mobility (they are on rotators so don't worry they can whimper and have their wings flop down), while they can be used like a shield or blades, they have to deployed and due to their girth they take time to deploy compared to how the DD's just shoot out their shoulder blades, and have momentum and thus trajectory needs to be compensated for, but with enough skill they can keep up with the DD's. Also Anti grav thrusters and gravity boots
BLOODLUST(Lore relevant): Legionnaires have special Nuclear Atomizers that help them function but it does cause them to run hot and require oil (or any other liquid >:) ) and spare parts or they can be 'starved' out
(hey Liam I brought back that plot point you droped XD)
(Lore related) RESISTANCE TO EMP'S, SUN/UV AND THE ABSOLUTE SOLVER: So while (IM FAIRLY CERTAIN) The DD's are immune to the AS due to them having a strand of its dormant code inside them, the Benefactor and the Legion are Solver RESISTANT not immune, think like Star Wars when Darth Vader can force choke a regular dude in an instant but has to really work for it on another Force user, and for {REDACTED} the Legion has a resistance to EMP's and Sentinel Bootlooping ;) read the fic when it comes out to learn more, and because of them not having the Absolute Solver, the Sun and other UV light is not a death sentence for the Legion
(Unique to The Benefactor) ALLOYED FRAME AND EXPERIMENTAL COMPONENTS: Due to The Benefactor being the Supreme Commander on top of being a 'top of the line Legion Drone' she is made with Solver Steel which is specially alloyed giving her a silverish chrome tint/shine and increased durability and flexibility as well as her received top model components and software upgrades (this is just self indulgent at this point and only relevant because 2 reasons, one, her special forces units, Viper Squad, take a gray coat of paint to more closely match her and two because the primarily antagonist has to POSE A THREAT IN SOME CAPACITY TO THE MAIN CAST)
CLAW HANDS: To save space while also remaining deadly they have clawed fingers rather than having claws being a separate weapon
(Unique to the Legion as a whole) VEHICLES: As a warring force that was basically mass built by the AS and then just sent on Pods to Human planets that the Solver could not initially invade for one reason or another (Long summers, no night time, weak atmosphere letting UV rays in) they had to acquire starships, siege vehicles and transports from the former Human Worlds and then basically paint their symbols over them XD but now by 3077 they have quite the Armada, and considering their numbers, they are still a universal threat without them.

Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, Antarctica
A wooden Orthodox church was consecrated in 2004 in the harsh ice of Antarctica. Since then, the Divine Liturgy has been celebrated year-round in the middle of the white desert at the edge of the earth.
Peter and Valery took a blessing from Patriarch Alexy II and began collecting donations for the construction of the church. Over the three years of fund-raising, the church bells were cast and the iconostasis was prepared by artists from Palekh. In 2002, a cross was erected on the site of the future church on Mount Irina, above the Bellingshausen station. On January 25 of the same year, a Divine Liturgy was first celebrated in Antarctica, praying for all the polar explorers who had perished here.
Finally, in 2004 the construction began. The wooden church was cut down and assembled in Altai. The materials used were cedar and larch, which become as strong as metal over time to endure the harsh Antarctic frosts and hurricane winds. Then the church was disassembled, with the logs numbered and transported by ship to King George Island (Waterloo) in Antarctica, where the Russian Bellingshausen station is located. In a few months, the church was assembled without a single nail and secured from the inside with steel chains to make it more stable on the cliffs. To avoid legal complications, it was formally registered as a mission of the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra.
Peter Zadirov planned to consecrate the church (as he had already done in his homeland) in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, the patron saint of sailors and travellers. But God arranged things differently. The first Divine Liturgy, celebrated at the Bellingshausen station before the construction of the wooden church, was served in a plain metal container. The only icon on the table used as the altar was a small plastic image of St. Andrei Rublev’s Holy Trinity. Shortly before the service, this icon had been purchased in a Catholic shop in Punta Arenas, Chile by one of the construction sponsors travelling to Antarctica. This was seen as an omen, and the Antarctic church was subsequently consecrated in honor of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity.
The consecration was performed on February 15, 2004 by Bishop Feognost (Guzikov), who was then vicar of the Trinity Sergius Lavra. Hieromonk Kallistrat (Romanenko) became the first serving priest in this church. Later, Father Kallistrat was chosen to be Bishop of Gorno-Altai and Chemal. But he did not leave his pastoral care of this church, and to the present day, Vladyka personally appoints priests to serve in Antarctica.
Surprisingly enough, it was in Antarctica that many polar explorers first came to God. On the next day after the church was consecrated, the Sacrament of Baptism was administered. The first to be baptized were the head of the Bellingshausen station, Oleg Sakharov, and the driver-mechanic Alexander Solovyov.
Oleg Sakharov later said that during difficult winter seasons and long polar nights, the station workers needed a place where they could come at any time to relieve their stress: “The church, whose warmth could be felt even by touching its logs, became such a place.”

prompt 4: reticent
My feelings for you go far beyond friendship.
It’s simple, that thought. It drops into his mind like rain on an otherwise unremarkable gray day, one where he’s not particularly burdened by the work of caring for his free company because Alan has shown up for a visit. Busari’s out—adventuring again, paying their bills—so it’s him and the Nagae sisters and Enkhtuya, and Harumi’s gotten Alan to help with lunch for their clients. Alan fits in like he was born to be standing at the counter chopping lettuce, sleeves rolled up to reveal sinewy forearms and an escaping tendril of brown hair flopping in his face. Evrard’s fingers itch to push it back, but—Alan’s wearing his bandana and it wouldn’t be worth the risk of revealing his third eye. Yes.
They’ve been closer. They’d had to share a bed when he first hauled an injured decurion out of the snow, for the Fury’s sake. (And he’d been warm and strong and Evrard is not going to think about that now.) But sitting on this bench, just looking at him from across the room, Evrard’s heart lodges in his throat.
He’s known Alan is attractive. He isn’t blind. And watching him in battle...well, that would stir the blood of a dead man. But attraction is one thing, easily ignored. The slowly spreading warmth through Evrard’s chest at the sight of Alan Vesper simply existing in his space, bumping Harumi lightly out of the way and cracking a faint smile at something she’s said, as far from the brittle sharp edges of Alanais pyr Venditor as it’s possible to be—
No. They are friends. They will only ever be friends. He has a lover he is quite fond of, thank you, and Alan has a girlfriend he is wild about and who would probably bite his face off if she even thought he was competition. Not that he is. He won’t be.
“Evrard!” Alan calls. “You want anything?”
He shakes his head, not trusting himself to speak.
Alan shrugs and continues assembling sandwiches. Evrard sends a fervent prayer to the Fury.
The day passes.
Two years pass.
He is single, now. Camp Broken Glass is nothing like the oven-baked heat of Ul’dah. Alan has grown braver, bolder, more sure of himself. More beautiful. His girlfriend is here as well, and she is the bright brief flash of lightning across his eyelids. When they aren’t off fighting or working to make the lives of the Garleans easier, they’re curled together like two crescent moons. He can’t even be jealous. (He could. But they adore each other, and he isn’t sure which of them he envies more.)
Once again, he’s sitting back and watching Alan work. This time he’s sipping ether potions and rolling bandages, while Alan’s taken over another table in the mess hall in the service of entirely disassembling and cleaning his gunblade. Gantsetseg is leaning over the back of his chair, gesturing animatedly as she suggests upgrades that she swears will not explode in his hands. Alan hums thoughtfully as he tightens a screw; he’s wearing fingerless gloves that are almost worse for the direction of Evrard’s thoughts than bare hands would have been.
(He broke his vow of chastity long ago, with a man who’s turned out to be unworthy of it. He keeps thinking about that tiny bed in Our Lady’s Mercy with the wind hissing through the cracks and Alanais pyr Venditor curled up between him and the wall.)
Evrard takes one slow breath. Another. Another.
Gantsetseg’s tail has flipped lazily into Alan’s lap. He doesn’t seem to mind the spikes at all.
I...
He doesn’t even let himself finish the thought.
Alan is grinning. It’s not at him.
He’s pretty sure the Fury won’t help him now.
