finally watched force awakens (because the orchestra was playing the score live) and. I am now more confused.it feels like i got up for a snack break and missed half the movie but apparently i did not

The Star Wars Sequel Trilogy introduced the one scale inconsistency that really bugs me, because of how massive it is.

Starkiller Base is supposed to be made from an Earth-like rocky planet, with an existing biosphere with trees and everything, but they show it in a diagram with a Death Star for scale and it's only like five times the diameter.

We saw the second Death Star compared to the Forest Moon of Endor in a diagram in Return of the Jedi, and the moon was at least 10 times the diameter of the battle station.

The size of the buildings on the surface of Starkiller Base also kind of imply that it's a lot smaller than a planet should be.

What makes it worse is that the canon sourcebooks and data files decided to roll with the smaller size, making Starkiller Base about the size of Ceres, the dwarf planet (formerly asteroid).

Then Jedi: Fallen Order implied that Starkiller Base was made from the planet Ilum, which was previously always portrayed as being a normal planet size instead of tiny.

I have finally named all of the spaceships in Black Dog Star Vol1, I shall present them to you now:

Nu Henan - A FLEET starship class (light drive equipped) carrier ship

NSS Paper Tiger - A Novan (pirate) starship class carrier ship that was catastrophically destroyed moments before the beginning of Chapter 1

Diamonds - A civilian courier/cargo vessel that was inexplicably on board the Paper Tiger and is the key to unraveling the mystery of what destroyed it

Seraphim - An F/A-82C Shrike ionfighter, and the only ionfighter that survived the destruction of the Paper Tiger by not being on board at the time

Rockbiter & Bonsai- Two small reconnaissance ships that survived the destruction of the Paper Tiger, also by not being on board

Stay In School - A houseboat belonging to an unlicensed salvager, first to arrive on the scene of the Paper Tiger's destruction, found trying to strip Diamonds for parts

Bruce & Hilda - A paired houseboat belonging to a licensed forensic salvage specialist; Hilda has a warp drive and functions as a hub for Bruce to spin around for centripetal gravity, Bruce can also detach and is good at maneuvering in tight spaces; they're named after a fictional couple from a popular adventure series

Wolfshead (originally named Heart of Gold) - A brothel ship impounded by FLEET, stolen by the Rockbiter crew

As You Wish - A civilian yacht stolen by raiders, and then stolen from the raiders (fun fact: pirates and raiders hate each other)

Xinglong City - Technically a starship, but it's in semi-permanent stellar orbit, so it's functionally a space station

NSS Little Sister - A Novan starship carrier that answers the Rockbiter crew's call for aid (also mentioned: NSS Tin God)

A small Belter settlement made in the body of a cored out asteroid, while smaller than the three Belter capitals these towns provide a great degree of comfort to the impoverished space pirates, with debris from the belt making solar collection impossible, and due to the outlaw nature of the Belters energy from the Helios Concern is only taken by raiding their transport ships, as a result the majority of Belter power comes from large sub-surface fusion generators, diligently mainted by families of technicians who take care of the the life preserving reactors over generations.

If any Christmas movie were to fit with MTMTE/Lost Light the most it would have to be National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.

I’ve never seen the movie, but I watched the trailer to get a feel for it:

I see what you mean: it’s got the same chaos-gremlins-in-a-get-along-shirt feel to it.

But something still feels off. MTMTE/LL has more substance to it, and it’s more balanced in the comedy and angst departments.

It's a cyberpunk comic about a bunch of 20 somethings being stupid about eachother lmao. They all live in this protected mega city in new mexico because in their timeline western europe got hit by an asteroid in 1979 so the world is Very different and theres a megacorporation that partners with different governments to make cities that are safe from outside harm. The story is mostly just about their lives and fun cyberpunk stuff but the corruption in the government keeps somehow getting involved in their interpersonal issues 💀
