Who appears the most in Scrooge's Last Adventure?
Tumblr media
Alright so I counted this one a while ago, but I never posted it. When I started the counting top 100 stories project my plan was to post this one when I reached it on the top 100. But I've decided not to do that, because I want to post this now... So this is technically an out of order entry in my counting the Inducks top 100 stories.
Anyways, there are spoilers for the story. It's great, you should give it a read!
Quackfaster - 5 (panels) / 0.82% (of the story)
Gus - 7 / 1.15%
Gladstone - 10 / 1.64%
Fethry - 12 / 1.97%
Brigitta - 13 / 2.14%
Gyro - 16 / 2.63%
Daisy - 21 / 3.45%
Quackmore - 23 / 3.78%
Grandma - 24 / 3.95%
Fermies - 40 / 6.58%
Terries - 64 / 10.53%
Beagle Boys - 72 / 11.84%
HDL - 85 / 13.98%
Magica - 112 / 18.42%
Glomgold - 114 / 18.75%
Rockerduck - 132 / 21.71%
Donald - 269 / 44.24%
Scrooge - 299 / 49.18%
(Total - 608)
(My thoughts and additional stats below!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Interesting how both Magica and HDL's percentages get lower for every part. Also I didn't count Jeeves, he's great but he only appeared in like 4 panels and I was too lazy to count him for everything!
Anyways, let's look at the entry and exit stats!
Beagle Boys - 1 (0.16%) / 608 (100%)
Rockerduck - 6 (0.99%) / 596 (98.03%)
Magica - 11 (1.81) / 347 (57.07%)
Glomgold - 14 (2.3%) / 596 (98.03%)
Quackmore - 24 (3.95%) / 602 (99.01%)
Scrooge - 24 (3.95%) / 608 (100%)
Donald - 26 (4.28%) / 608 (100%)
HDL - 27 (4.28%) / 608 (100%)
Grandma - 181 (29.77%) / 608 (100%)
Quackfaster - 192 (31.58%) / 603 (99.18%)
Gladstone - 197 (32.4%) / 607 (99.84%)
Daisy - 197 (32.4%) / 608 (100%)
Fethry - 197 (32.4%) / 608 (100%)
Gus - 197 (32.4%) / 608 (100%)
Brigitta - 198 (32.57%) / 604 (99.34%)
Gyro - 198 (32.57%) / 604 (99.34%)
Jubal - 198 (32.57%) / 607 (99.84%)
Terries - 355 (58.39%) / 586 (96.38%)
Fermies - 362 (59.54%) / 586 (96.38%)
Tumblr media
So very smart Atobibsters might have noticed that I have slightly cheated here. As Magica does actually appear in the background flying in the final panel, but I thought those stats were boring so I didn't count them for the entry and exit stats!
So for a story called "Scrooge's Last Adventure", there is surprisingly little Scrooge. He is still the character who appears the most, but he doesn't even appear for the majority of the story. I still think he is the main character, though, as even when he isn't around he is the main focus of conversation.

Who appears the most in Donald Duck In Old California?
Tumblr media
Whilst I am pretty sure I own Vacation Time I don't know where it is, just like Only a Poor Old Man. So I skipped that one in my series of counting every story in the top 100!
As always there are spoilers for the story!
Rolando - 21 (panels) / 10.05% (of the story)
Panchita - 24 / 11.48%
HDL - 137 / 65.55%
Donald - 150 / 71.77%
(My thoughts and additional stats below!)
Donald's percentage here is the second highest percentage of any character I've calculated yet, only being beaten by Scrooge in Back to the Klondike!
This story is usually listed as being led by Donald, although interestingly enough the Danish book I own it in is a specific HDL book! I do agree that this is more of a Donald story than a HDL story, although I didn't reread it for this so you should maybe take this opinion with a grain of salt!
Anyways, let's end with the entry and exit stats!
Donald - 2 (0.96%) / 208 (99.52%)
HDL - 2 (0.96%) / 208 (99.52%)
Panchita - 75 (35.89%) / 143 (68.42%)
Rolando - 94 (44.98%) / 196 (93.78%)
Tumblr media
They go to Old California at panel 23 or 11% through the story!
I counted a total of 209 panels, in case that info is useful!

Who appears the most in Back to the Klondike?
Tumblr media
Alright, so I have decided to start trying to calculate every story on the Inducks Top 100. Obviously I'll have to skip some that I don't own, but I'll try calculate as many as I can. Anyways this is the first one!
As always there are spoilers for the story + I only counted panels so page number is just calculated from percentage!
Blackjack - 17 (panels) / 2.1 (pages) / 6.56% (of the story)
Goldie - 35 / 4.32 / 13.51%
HDL - 85 / 10.5 / 32.82%
Donald - 127 / 15.69 / 49.03%
Scrooge - 192 / 23.72 / 74.13%
(My thoughts and additional stats below!)
Per my rules I didn't count Goldie in the opening flashback, since I don't count first appearances in flashbacks. She appeared in 20 panels in the flashback or about 7.72% of the story.
Now for entry and exit stats!
Scrooge - 1 (0.39%) / 259 (100%)
Donald - 3 (1.16%) / 258 (99.61%)
HDL - 36 (13.9%) / 259 (100%)
Blackjack - 140 (54.05%) / 254 (98.07%)
Goldie - 153 (59.07%) / 254 (98.07%
Tumblr media
Goldie appeared first in flashback in panel 100 or 38.61% through the story.
We see Goldie out of silhouette for the first time at panel 200 or 77.22%.
This is listed as a Scrooge McDuck story, and it very clearly is!
And that's my thoughts! Despite this project I'm still taking suggestions so if you have any stories you are curious about please let me know! =)

Who appears the most in Only A Poor Old Man?
Tumblr media
So I remembered that whilst I didn't own the Danish Donald Duck big book, I did own the English version! So I could finally count this one!
As always there are spoilers for the story, but if you haven't read this story yet you should definitely drop everything you are doing and go read it! (And then come back here and like and reblog and follow my account to become a true Atobibster).
Beagle boys - 52 (panels) / 21.9% (of the story)
HDL - 60 / 24.79%
Donald - 84 / 34.71%
Scrooge - 181 / 74.79%
(My thoughts and additional stats below!)
This story beats Scrooge in Back to the Klondike as the story with the highest percentage of any character on the top 100 so far (and also of any story I've counted).
As mentioned this was published in a Donald Duck book, which is a little silly. But it is famously the first Scrooge McDuck story, so this was just one little silly choice.
Let's look at entry and exit stats!
Scrooge - 1 (0.41%) / 242 (100%)
Donald - 1 (0.41%) / 237 (97.93%)
Beagles - 26 (10.74%) / 229 (94.63%)
HDL - 46 (19.01%) / 237 (97.93%)

Who appears the most in The Search for the Zodiac Stone (Part 1 and 2)?
Tumblr media
As the true Atobibster I am I've taken up your challenge and am doing Zodiac Stone. However, due to it's many parts I've decided to publish the stats for two parts at a time. Below you'll see the stats for part 1 and if you click "Keep reading" you'll be able to see the stats for part 2 as well!
When I'm done I'll make a post containing entry and exit stats, plus total stats! I'll be sparing most of my thoughts until then, unless they are specific to the part.
Throughout the series I also counted panels where we see both Duckverse and Mouseverse characters at the same time. Those will be listed as "cross-over".
Marlin - 23 (panels) / 17.42%
Pete - 25 / 18.94%
Zapotec - 35 / 26.52%
Goofy - 66 / 50%
Mickey - 81 / 61.36%
(Total - 132)
Part 2 stats:
Donald Duck - 6 / 4.69%
HDL - 8 / 6.25%
Scrooge - 11 / 8.59%
Cross-over - 12 9.38%
Goofy - 78 / 60.94%
Mickey - 104 / 81.25%
(Total - 128)

Who appears the most in Paperolimpiadi?
Tumblr media
Here we have it! My magnum opus! This story has 27 characters and 250 pages! I spent multiple days on it, so you've got to read the full post, else you can't call yourself a real Atobibster (yes, I'm gatekeeping myself)!
As always I'll feel the need to mention that I only counted panels, and the page number is just calculated from the percentage!
Also, you might notice percentage numbers are a bit lower than usual. And that's of course because this is a very long ensenble story. I'll get more in to that later.
Oh, and there are probably spoilers for Paperolimpiadi! It's very good, so I'll reccomend reading it. It's very long, but if I calculate who appears most in it, you can read it!
Casey - 1 (panel) / 0.19 (pages) / 0.08% (of the story)
Zillia - 5 / 0.99 / 0.4%
O'Hara - 6 / 1.18 / 0.48%
Gallien - 8 / 1.58 / 0.63%
Owl Judge - 11 / 2.17 / 0.87%
Quibble - 17 / 3.36 / 1.35%
Fethry - 27 / 5.34 / 2.14%
Kildare - 30 / 5.94 / 2.38%
Beagle Boys - 31 / 6.14 / 2.46%
Brigitta - 33 / 6.53 / 2.61%
Sock and Gonz - 44 / 8.71 / 3.49%
Portis - 52 / 10.3 / 4.12%
Pete - 56 / 11.09 / 4.44%
Chen - 58 / 11.48 / 4.6%
Ducklien - 60 / 11.88 / 4.75%
Mae Wang - 64 / 12.67 / 5.07%
Trudy - 68 / 13.47 / 5.39%
Gyro - 76 / 15.05 / 6.02%
Jubal - 86 / 17.03 / 6.81%
Rockerduck - 105 / 20.8 / 8.32%
Mickey - 151 / 29.91 / 11.97%
Donald - 154 / 30.5 / 12.2%
Ellroy - 156 / 30.9 / 12.36%
Kim - 240 / 47.54 / 19.02%
HDL - 275 / 54.47 / 21.79%
Scrooge - 382 / 75.67 / 30.27%
(My thoughts and additional stats below!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As Spectrus mentioned in his Inducks review Donald and Mickey never interact in this story. In fact despite how this story features both Mouseverse and Duckverse characters there aren't that many panels where we see both.
There are 53 panels where we see both Duckverse and Mouseverse characters. Which is about 4.2% of the story. It actually might not be low, it just feels low...
Anyways, let's look at the entry and exit stats. I decided to not count the first couple of pages of explanation and introduction, since that didn't feel like it was part of the story.
Owl judge - 8 (0.63%) / 23 (1.82%)
Gyro - 11 (0.87%) / 571 (45.25%)
Rockerduck - 16 (1.27%) / 315 (24.96%)
Scrooge - 28 (2.22%) / 1262 (100%)
HDL - 38 (3.01%) / 1262 (100%)
Donald - 40 (3.17%) / 1262 (100%)
Kildare - 41 (3.25%) / 163 (12.92%)
Fethry - 44 (3.49%) / 163 (12.92%)
Brigitta - 85 (6.74%) / 315 (24.96%)
Jubal - 85 (6.74%) / 315 (24.96%)
Quibble - 287 (22.74%) / 315 (24.96%)
Kim - 321 (25.44%) / 1262 (100%)
Chen - 374 (29.64%) / 1262 (100%)
Mae Wang - 401 (31.77%) / 1122 (88.91%)
Trudy - 480 (38.03%) / 819 (64.9%)
Portis - 588 (46.59%) / 763 (60.46%)
Pete - 588 (46.59%) / 819 (64.9%)
O'Hara - 592 (46.91%) / 660 (52.3%)
Beagle Boys - 608 (48.18%) / 655 (51.9%)
Ellroy - 664 (52.61%) / 920 (72.9%)
Mickey - 665 (52.69%) / 920 (72.9%)
Sock and Gonz - 959 (75.99%) / 1130 (89.54%)
Ducklien - 959 (75.99%) / 1134 (89.86%)
Gallien - 972 (77.92%) / 1134 (89.86%)
Zillia - 974 (77.18%) / 1134 (89.86%)
Tumblr media
I didn't include Casey for this one because he only appeared in one panel in this one. That panel was panel number 594 at around 47.07%.
I also counted the first time we see some things. The first time we see the magical powder is at panel 342 or 27.1% of the story. The first time we see the camera is at 505 or 40.02%, and the last time we see it is at 1216 or 96.35%. The first time the games become relevant to the main plot (when Scrooge first gets the idea of using the camera for the games) is at 569 or 45.09%. The first time we go to Seoul (outside of flashbacks) is at 869 or 68.86%.
In Denmark this one was listed as an Uncle Scrooge story, and I think that's a reasonable choice. Although I don't think this story really has a main character. And whilst Scrooge does appear in all but one story his percentage in all those stories is usually pretty low. In fact, let's look at the top character's average percentage!
Donald - 16.83%
HDL - 24.6%
Rockerduck - 34.4%
Scrooge - 34.8%
Kim - 38.14%
Mickey - 50.19%
Ellroy - 51.62%
Alright, so this is obviously not what we should use to dertemine the main character... However it is an interesting thing to see.
Anyways, I think I'll leave it as this being a story with multiple characters. I think you could argue that each part has a main character, but I don't think the whole thing has one main character. But I do agree that Scrooge would be the one you should choose if you were to choose one!

Who appears the most in The Golden Helmet?
Tumblr media
The third story in my question to count every story on the Inducks top 100. I decided to count the helmet as a character in this one because I was curious about it's stats.
As usual there are spoilers + I only counted panels so page count is just calculated from the percentage.
The Helmet - 46 (panels) / 5.91 (pages) / 18.47% (of the story)
Azure Blue - 51 / 6.55 / 20.48%
Curator - 54 / 6.93 / 21.69%
Sharky - 58 / 7.45 / 23.29%
HDL - 90 / 11.56 / 36.14%
Donald - 173 / 22.23 / 69.48%
(My thoughts and additional stats below!)
Jumping straight ahead to the entry and exit stats here!
Donald - 1 (0.4%) / 249 (100%)
Azure - 17 (6.83%) / 214 (85.94%)
Curator - 33 (13.25%) / 244 (97.99%)
Sharky - 42 (16.87%) / 242 (97.19%)
HDL - 70 (28.11%) / 245 (98.29%)
Helmet - 161 (64.66%) / 243 (97.59%)
Tumblr media
This is listed as a Donald Duck story, which I agree with.
As always, if you have any stories you are curious about please do send them in! =)

Who appears the most in Tralla La?
Tumblr media
Continuing my quest to count every story on the Inducks top 100!
Once again there are spoilers for the story + I only counted panels so page count is just calculated from percentage.
Lah Deedah - 8 (panels) / 1.05 (pages) / 4.79% (of the story)
HDL - 58 / 7.64 / 34.73%
Donald - 59 / 7.77 / 35.33%
Scrooge - 114 / 15.01 / 68.26%
(My thoughts and additional stats below!)
Entry and exit stats!
Scrooge - 1 (0.6%) / 167 (100%)
Donald - 17 (10.18%) / 164 (98.2%)
HDL - 22 (13.17%) / 166 (99.4%)
Lah Deedah - 85 (50.9%) / 162 (97.01%)
Tumblr media
They go to Tralla La at panel 68 or 40.72% through the story. They leave the story at the same time we last see Lah Deedah!
The story is listed as an Uncle Scrooge story, which I would agree with. I will admit that I didn't reread it for this, so my memory might be wrong, but I don't think it is!

Who appears the most in Il Bianco e il Nero?
Tumblr media
Once again, I didn't count pages only counted panels, page number is just calculated from the percentage. And there will be spoilers for the story!
Minnie - 20 (panels) / 4.22 (pages) / 4.69%
Goofy - 30 / 6.33 / 7.04%
Blotty - 39 / 8.23 / 9.15%
Pete - 43 / 9.08/ 10.09%
Weather boy - 44 / 9.29 / 10.33%
Casey - 72 / 15.21 / 16.9%
O'Hara - 105 / 22.18 / 24.65%
Mickey - 189 / 39.92 / 44.37%
(My thoughts and additional stats below!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once again Egmont listed this as a Blot lead story, and whilst I agreed last time I don't think I do this time around. Just like the last one the Blot is very little in it, but in this one we don't really see it from his point of view either. The last one would often have little bits of "narration" by the Blot, which made it feel like he was the lead. This one only did it once at the start of part 2 (and it honestly felt really out of place!).
Anyways, let's look at the entry and exit stats!
Mickey - 15 (3.52%) / 420 (98.59%)
O'Hara - 18 (4.23%) / 410 (96.24%)
Casey - 18 (4.23%) / 410 (96.24%)
Pete - 19 (4.46%) / 412 (96.71%)
Minnie - 26 (6.1%) / 420 (98.59)
Goofy - 26 (6.1%) / 420 (98.59)
Weather boy - 27 (6.34%) / 421 (98.83%)
Blotty - 150 (35.21%) / 424 (99.53%)
I decided not to count appearences in the opening recap, since that would sort of ruin this one.

Who appears the most in Dialing for Disaster?
Tumblr media
So this is an interesting one because it's told through two storylines. So instead of just counting appearance, entry and exit I also counted which parts belong to each storyline.
As always spoilers for the story + I still don't count pages the page count is just calculated from the percentage!
HDL - 73 (panels) / 17.1 (pages) / 38.02% (of the story)
Donald - 77 / 18.04 / 40.1%
(My thoughts and additional stats below!)
Inducks lists a couple of other characters on this one as well, but I decided not to count those because I don't really care about them!
Let's look at entry and exit stats first!
HDL - 1 (0.52%) / 191 (99.48%)
Donald - 20 (10.42%) / 192 (100%)
Tumblr media
Alright, let's look at the new stats!
Tumblr media
The red is parts in the HDL storyline, the blue in the Donald storyline and the purple is spots where they collide.
HDL storyline - 72 (panels) / 37.5%
Donald - 74 / 38.54%
Mix - 46 / 23.96%
Egmont lists this as a Donald story, but I think it's obviously a shared lead between Donald and HDL. The story cuts between their two storylines, although more time is spent in Donald's. I think this is a brilliantly structured story!
Anyways, that's it! Remember if you have any suggestions for stories I should count you should let me know! Either through the Tumblr ask feature, a DM or somewhere else!

Who appears the most in The Secret of Atlantis?
Tumblr media
The fourth story in my series of counting the top 100 stories. I had to skip Only a Poor Old Man, as I could not find that anywhere. I have read it multiple many times, but apparently I don't actually own it...
Anyways, spoilers for the story as always! I decided not to add page count this time around. I'm not really sure on this, though, so let me know if you would like me to write the page count or not!
Also Inducks lists the character Francois, I don't know who that is, so I counted the Atlantis king, as I assume that that's Francois!
King - 14 (panels) / 5.79% (of the story)
Teacher - 36 / 14.88%
HDL - 94 / 38.84%
Donald - 105 / 43.39%
Scrooge - 140 / 57.85%
(My thoughts and additional stats below!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I decided to count the story in 4 parts since I was curious about what the stats would look like for that. Each part is 8 pages!
Let's look at entry and exit stats!
Scrooge - 1 (0.41%) / 241 (99.59%)
Donald - 8 (3.31%) / 242 (100%)
HDL - 13 (5.37%) / 235 (97.11%)
King - 151 (62.4%) / 232 (95.87%)
Teacher - 166 (68.6%) / 218 (90.08%)
Tumblr media
The iconic panel where they go to Atlantis for the first time happens at panel 144 or 59.5% through the story!
This story is listed as an Uncle Scrooge story, which I think is reasonable! Although it is a lot less singularly focused on Scrooge than other stories I've counted in this series.

Who appears most in Bram Topker's Dracula?
Tumblr media
Remember I didn't count the pages, it's just how many pages the percentage corresponds to. So how many pages on average their panels would add up to. Not how many pages they appear on.
And also, I should mention this, there are obviously spoilers for it. Although it might be hard to spoil Dracula...
Pete - 26 (panels) / 5.57 (pages) / 7.74% (of the story)
Brick - 37 / 7.92 / 11.01%
Horace - 40 / 8.57 / 11.90%
Clarabelle - 44 / 9.42 / 13.10%
Dracula - 69 / 14.78 / 20.54%
O'Hara - 70 / 15 / 20.83%
Goofy - 92 / 19.71 / 27.38%
Minnie - 102 / 21.85 / 30.36%
Mickey - 106 / 22.71 / 31.55%
(My thoughts and additional stats below!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just like with some other stories, this story was originally split it in to two parts, but I split each part in to two as well since I was curious as to who would appear how much in each part!
Egmont credits this one as being a Mickey led story, but I don't think this story has a single lead.
But before I get in to all that let's look at the entry and exit times!
Mickey - 1 (0.30%) / 332 (98.81%)
Dracula - 10 (2.98%) / 322 (95.83%)
Minnie - 31 (9.23%) / 332 (98.81%)
Clarabelle - 31 (9.23%) / 336 (100%)
O'Hara - 38 (11.31%) / 328 (97.62%)
Brick - 39 (11.61%) / 327 (97.31%)
Horace - 41 (12.20%) / 329 (97.92%)
Goofy - 101 (30.06%) / 336 (100%)
Pete - 120 (35.71%) / 330 (98.21%)
Tumblr media
Here we have yet another story where Goofy plays a central role, but doesn't appear until around 30% throught the story.
And whilst I think Goofy plays a central role in this one, I don't know if it's as central as the first Captain Nemo story. Probably closer to the second Nemo story.
I don't think you can put this as a one-lead story, and if you were to do that I don't think I'd put Mickey. As he is the only character that sort of disappears from the story. Minnie does kind of as well, but a lot less than Mickey. And Goofy of course doesn't appear until the second act.
I think I would credit this as a story led by Mickey, Minnie and Goofy. But let me try to rank them by how much of a lead I think they are, as I usually do.
Minnie (Lead).
Mickey (Lead).
Goofy (Lead).
Clarabelle (Supporting).
O'Hara (Supporting).
Dracula (Supporting / Antagonist).
Horace (Supporting).
Pete (Supporting / Antagonist).
Brick (Supporting).

Who appears the most in 19,999 leghe sotto i mari?
Oh you thought I was done? I LAUGH! I was only just getting started! (Link to my previous calculation).
I've decided to add how many pages the percentage corresponds to. I figure it might give a better sense of scale than just the percentage.
Goofy - 90 (panels) / 19.46 (pages) / 34.75%
Blot - 97 / 20.97 / 37.45%
Pete - 107 / 23.14 / 41.31%
Donald - 114 / 24.65 / 44.02%
Mickey - 115 / 24.86 / 44.40%
(My thoughts and additional stats below!)

The story is split in to two parts, but I decided to split each part in to two as well since I was curious as to who appeared how much in specific sections.
So this is an interesting one! Egmont lists this as being a Donald, Goofy and Mickey lead story, and I think I agree with them there! Despite the fact that Goofy appears the least I think that he is very much a main character. He just doesn't show up until later. Speaking of, let's look at the entry and exit times!
Mickey - 2 (0.77%) / 259 (100%)
Donald - 3 (1.16%) / 259 (100%)
Blot - 5 (1.93%) / 253 (97.68%)
Pete - 14 (5.41%) / 253 (97.68%)
Goofy - 77 (29.73%) / 259 (100%)
Tumblr media
I really like the choice to keep Goofy until at the start of the second quarter. That way we have some time to get to know the other characters before we get in to the submarine and it's all about Goofy!
My main problem with this story when I first read it was it's lack of a main character. And I think these stats kind of agree with me on that. As you can see from them it goes up and down who appears most. I mean, in part 2 Pete appears most! It feels like the story almost can't decide on a main character.
So honestly, if I were to pick one main character I'd pick Goofy. Since he is without a doubt the most integral to the plot. There isn't really any growth that happens to anyone in this story, so that's not a thing I need to consider. And both Mickey and Donald (whilst in it a lot) feel like they are kind of just there.
I still think presenting it was a story lead by the trio is right. I definitely would never say that the Blot or Pete are the leads, as they are very clearly antagonists! Just antagonists that appear a lot.
So to rank it on how much I think they are main:
Goofy (Lead).
Mickey (Lead).
Donald (Lead).
Blot (Antagonist / Supporting).
Pete (Antagonist / Supporting).
