Inktober Day - 02 - BELATED (Brimstone Valley Mall) I am a big fan of Kristen Di Mercurio from back in the day when she was the voice of Dr. Sally Grissom on the landmark audio drama series from Whisperforge: ars PARADOXICA. Since then she has branched out into writing and directing other projects, this year she launched her series Brimstone Valley Mall (BVM). BVM is a clever and fun nostalgic romp through Nineties' culture. Set on the eve of the new millennium a literal band of demons in human guise are working day jobs at a suburban mall, and at night they play like a metal band named Mall Rat. Their next gig is to play as the opening band for the New Year's Eve show in Hell, but their lead singer has disappeared and no one knows where he has gone? Today's sketch is of the band’s bass player Belzagor (played by Susannah Wilson), who is also a demonic inventor working at Gadget Hut. I think she is my favorite character of the series, and it's not just because of her addiction to Slushies. I think it is really fun to have her as the resident techie and inventor. One of many gags in the show confirms that the theory that Furbies are the product of an infernal conception. Do yourself a favor and try out this show. It's a helluva good listen. :) #SusannahWilson #inktober # inktober2020 #Morningwarmupsketch #audiodramaday #audiodramaeveryday #worldaudiodramaday #scriptedpodcasts @zannahbooo @brimstonevalleymall @kdimerc #KristenDiMercurio #arsPARADOXICA #whisperforge https://www.instagram.com/p/CGDVaUGjOP5/?igshid=14nx9qd6pc0x

I was personally introduced to Audio Dramas when I was kid. My grandma was in love with those old stories that aired on the radio and introduced me to Sherlock Holmes, 1001 Nights and Agatha Christie audio dramas.
Years later, and I still listen to an episode of some audio drama a day. It’s my way to unwind at the end of the day, close my eyes and imagine a different world with the help of amazing voice actors and actresses and expert sound effects and music.
The whole goal of Fanfic Radio is to bring you the same treatment but using the wonderfully written fanfictions out there. There are fanfictions out there that are way better written than original professional published novels and they feature characters you already know and love.
If you haven’t already tried audio dramas, we highly recommend that you do. In this post, we’re going to not only share links to our dramas, but also to other dramas out there that we recommend as well.
Just find a comfortable seat, get your favorite drink, close your eyes (you can drink with your eyes closed, right?) and enjoy.
Fanfic Radio Projects (Please make sure to check out the original stories linked under the videos and share some love with the authors!)
Shot in the Dark/Paved with Good Intentions (A Yu-Gi-Oh Audiodrama)

Useless When Wet (A Fullmetal Alchemist Audiodrama)
New Moon (A Final Fantasy XV Audiodrama)
Lily’s Not So Imaginary Friend (A Harry Potter Audiodrama)

#Inktober Day 01 Ring November 31st - Today’s Inktober is based of an episode of the Truth called November 31st. The episode description reads: “After a humiliating defeat, an MMA fighter is eager for a rematch. But will the haunting memories of her loss get in the way?” The reference I used for the drawing is of MMA fighter Tecia Torres. #mma #ufc #teciatorres #thetruth #november31 #audiodrama #audiodramaeveryday #scriptedpodcast #audiodramaday #worldaudiodramaday https://www.instagram.com/p/B3GUs3fjjmt/?igshid=i6mxmixctr5m

Inktober/Audio Drama Day - 31  - Circles On this hallowed day of Halloween, my last drawing is from the audio drama Circles from Evergreen Podcasts and Audio Marvels. This is the description from the episode notes from Episode One: Frankie. ”Ten years ago, four teenagers summoned a dangerous demon and while they lived to tell the tale, their lives were changed forever. Now the demon is coming back and the friends are forced into a risky plan to save their souls, where the difference between survival and eternal torment might be nothing more than a simple circle, drawn on the ground in chalk or salt.” Share and enjoy. #inktober # inktober2020 #Morningwarmupsketch #audiodramaday #audiodramaeveryday #worldaudiodramaday #scriptedpodcasts #digitalink #procreate #circles #evergreenpodcasts #audiomarvels @streamevergreen https://www.instagram.com/p/CHCA4QlD_tC/?igshid=xmnx2mh3n5ca

Inktober/Audio Drama Day - 30 - War of the Worlds Today is World Audio Drama Day! On October 30, 1938, The Mercury Theatre on the Air pulled a prank that still to this day has yet to meet it's equal. Orson Wells had New York City believing that the planet Earth was being invaded by Martians. This is what Wikipedia had to say: ”The War of the Worlds" is an episode of the American radio drama anthology series The Mercury Theatre on the Air directed and narrated by actor and future filmmaker Orson Welles as an adaptation of H. G. Wells's novel The War of the Worlds (1898). It was performed and broadcast live as a Halloween episode at 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, 1938, over the Columbia Broadcasting System radio network. The episode became famous for allegedly causing panic among its listening audience, though the scale of that panic is disputed, as the program had relatively few listeners.” #inktober # inktober2020 #Morningwarmupsketch #audiodramaday #audiodramaeveryday #worldaudiodramaday #scriptedpodcasts #digitalink #procreate #waroftheworlds #orsonwells https://www.instagram.com/p/CG_fPvwDkJk/?igshid=5g6en7cb9h4l

Inktober/Audio Drama Day - 13 - Belated (Archive 81, Dan Turner) I admit that Inktober 2020 has pretty much gone off the rails. After October 31st, I'm stopping and I'm not going to be making up the remaining days. Also I am going to once again break my repeating sketches rule. I do have a really good reason for it! The news came down this week that Archive 81 is being made into a Netflix series! In honor of this tremendous news, I have made today's sketch of Mamoudou Athie (Unicorn Store) who has been cast as Archivist, Dan Turner. Archive 81 is a found-footage horror series created by Dan Powell and Marc Sollinger, that takes place in an archival facility in upstate New York. Dan is hired to review and organize a collection of tapes that had been appropriated into the library. As he listens to the tapes his reality begins to shift as he is drawn into the recorded stories of madness and despair. Netflix has understandably changed the archived medium from audiotape to videotape, now that they are now working visually. Although, I feel that those who are fans of the Audio Drama may feel a sense of loss because Dan Powell (who played Dan in the Audio Drama) did the music and sound design for the show. Sound plays such a huge role in the audio drama series, and he took great pains to aurally flesh out the world of Archive 81. It is a shame that a large portion of it will probably never become part of the Netflix series. With three seasons and two limited series, Archive 81 is an audio drama that consistently reinvents itself. Just beware tho may not be the show for you if you are one who hates when a show breaks its format to evolve. Archive 81 is constantly deciding to do away with its conventions; this world may change to become a whole other cup of tea than the one you started with, but you can never call it boring. Share and enjoy. #inktober # inktober2020 #Morningwarmupsketch #audiodramaday #audiodramaeveryday #worldaudiodramaday #scriptedpodcasts #digitalink #procreate #netflix #archive81 #danturner #MamoudouAthie #unicornstore #DanPowell #MarcSollinger #foundfootage #horror @mtsollin @stereophobe https://www.instagram.com/p/CG8I1iXjSw1/?igshid=bsfnng5rywqx

Inktober/Audio Drama Day - 11 - Belated (Wormwood, Sparrow) I acknowledge that I have broken my own rules by doing ANOTHER sketch that I've done in the past. But how can I sketch Dr. Xander Crowe, but not do a sketch of Sparrow (played by Sonia Perozzi). Sparrow is honestly my favorite character in Wormwood; she is introduced as Crowe's Girl-Friday. As you get to know her as the series progresses you discover that she is much more than just a technically proficient researcher with a flair for snark. It is revealed that the paternal relationship between Crowe and Sparrow is much more layered and nuanced than how it appears at the surface level. Beyond the audio drama, Crowe and Sparrow also have a limited comic book series called SPARROW & CROWE: THE DEMONIAC OF LOS ANGELES from Hermes Press, available on Comixology. So basically, I'm saying that if you love quirky horror, with smart writing, and fun characters you should give Wormwood: A Serialized Mystery a chance. Share and enjoy. #inktober # inktober2020 #Morningwarmupsketch #digitalink #procreate #audiodramaday #audiodramaeveryday #worldaudiodramaday #scriptedpodcasts #wormwood #sparrowandcrowe #habitformingfilms #sparrow #soniaperozzi @sonia_perozzi #hermespress #comixology @comixology #habitformingfilms https://www.instagram.com/p/CG6KyBmDVZN/?igshid=13hk8h16pk8cm

Inktober/Audio Drama Day - 11 - Belated (Wormwood, Dr. Xander Crowe) I try to avoid repeating sketches of the same characters, but I made an exception because the Mutual Audio Network is rerunning Wormwood on their Tuesdays Terrors downloads! Today's sketch is of Dr. Xander Crowe (played by Arthur Russell). Once a respected Psychiatrist, now a self-destructive occult detective trying to not only fight the demons in our world, while he is also struggling with his inner demons. There are very few podcasts where I am willing to re-listen to a whole series. In a time when it so easy to binge, I am enjoying the weekly snack-sized episodes I've been getting for the last several months. For those of you who have not heard me sing the gospel of Wormwood, it the best parts of Twin Peaks, Dark Shadows, and Hellblazer (John Constantine), mixed and poured over ice. Visons, prophecies, dark magic, monsters, and demons, oh my! The show is from the early days of podcasting, and the sound design is a little rough, but the characters are so much fun. I think the story is a great ride that deserves a chance from anyone who loves quirky characters who get caught up in paranormal cross-rips! How could you not enjoy this show with an intro like this: " Tragedy forced Doctor Xander Crowe down the dark pathways of the occult, and the man was forever transformed. Now, chasing the vision of a drowned woman, Crowe finds himself in the haunted town of Wormwood, where evils lurks in the shadows and stains the souls of its inhabitants." Give it a chance, you know you want to... Inktober/Audio Drama Day - 08 - Belated (Radio Rental, Terry Carnation) Today's sketch is Terry Carnation (an original character created by Rainn Wilson, best known as Dwight Schrute on The Office). Radio Rental created by Payne Lindsey, doesn't exactly fall into the category of audio drama; but I think they are at least first cousins. The show is an anthology series about people telling their first-hand accounts of near-misses with strange encounters that can range anywhere between a near brush with a serial killer to seeing a glimpse of worlds beyond our own. Terry Carnation is the proprietor of Radio Rental, his independent video store. As the listener, you are his guest as he provides the wrap-around that ties the stories together, and bookends the episode. Thematically you can tell it is heavily influenced by the classic NBC true-crime series, Unsolved Mysteries. The show's composer, Makeup and Vanity Set admits that Radio Rental's excellent original synth-heavy soundtrack was inspired by the aforementioned show. The sound design is delightfully immersed in eighties nostalgia. The most obvious example being the narrative mechanism that the recorded interviews are part of a collection of old VHS tapes. So as Terry is giving the introduction to the next story you hear the clatter of plastic cassettes being fed into a VCR, and you hear the internal motors whirring as the story begins to play. With only fourteen episodes it is perfect for that long commute or road trip. Especially if you are looking to seasonally mix things up from the same old playlists. It is worth it to take the forty-one minutes running time of the first episode, so you can form your own opinion. Share and enjoy. #inktober # inktober2020 #Morningwarmupsketch #audiodramaday #audiodramaeveryday #worldaudiodramaday #scriptedpodcasts #radiorental @radiorental #terrycarnation @terrycarnation #rainnwilson @rainnwilson #dwight #DwightSchrute #theoffice #unsolvedmysteries @paynelindsey #paynelindsey @makeupandvanityset #makeupandvanityset https://www.instagram.com/p/CGnGydcjA9S/?igshid=ow5l84n3dj4r

Inktober Day - 07 - Belated (Deck the Halls with Matrimony, Stu) I love the Folks at Sassquach Radio. This year Ashley Quach was kind enough to produce a COVID quarantine special entitled: The Midnight Society, with Emma (Paula Deming), Jackie (Keiko Agena), and Stu (Kyle Payne) who is the feature of today's sketch. In this short, the trio has exhausted their Netflix playlist and have decided to pass the time playing a variation of the game Lie Detector! Stuart is a great character. From the beginning, he has been established as this great fun-loving dude that has genuine platonic relationships with Emma and Jackie that comes with a history, and no baggage. In the hands of an inept writer, a character like him could be de-emasculated and turned into a punchline. Or spun it one-hundred-eighty degrees the other direction, and made into a chauvinist, alpha male, agitator. But the Stu we have been graced with is nuanced, he's the kinda guy you would want to hang out with. Someone you feel you could trust and rely on. Much of this is thanks to the gifted author, but I have a feeling that the soul of the character comes from the performer, Kyle Payne. Stu is never lecherous or intimidating, he's just this earnest person who on occasion will throw out some zany ideas. I've been lucky to know some Stuarts in my life, and I would like to be more like Stu. The Stuarts of the world make it a better place to live. #inktober # inktober2020 #Morningwarmupsketch #audiodramaday #audiodramaeveryday #worldaudiodramaday #scriptedpodcasts #deckthehallswithmatrimony #Sassquach #SassquachRadio #covid https://www.instagram.com/p/CGahL6ZjOLm/?igshid=1v0j35eg0pq2s

Inktober Day - 06 - Belated (The Sandman, James McAvoy as Morpheus) During my Inktober/Audio Drama Day sketches I try to keep to independent productions. Although I did just listen to Audible’s adaption of Neil Gaiman's series The Sandman, and it was amazing! This adaption follows Gaiman's series Preludes and Nocturnes, The Doll's House, and Dream Country. It was produced by legendary Audio Drama producer Dirk Maggs (Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy, Neverwhere, Good Omens) and stars James McAvoy (X-Men, IT, Wanted) as Morpheus. The talented cast is enormous and has been well chosen for their distinct voices that make it effortless to follow and avoids confusion with other characters. I think fans of the series will be pleased with Kat Dennings (40-Year-Old-Virgin, Thor, 2 Broke Girls) as Death, and Taron Egerton (The Kingsman, Rocketman) as John Constantine. Not to mention other talents such as Andy Serkis, Michael Sheen, Bebe Neuwirth, and Neil Gaiman as the Narrator. Of course with Audible money and Maggs' talent the sound design was first-rate and the environments were completely fleshed-out in physicality for both the real world and the landscape of the Morpheus' kingdom, The Dreaming. With the lack of visuals in audio the role of music is elevated to help set the scale of production, British composer James Hannigan wrote a sweeping cinematic score that truly depicts the vast universe that such a god-like being would occupy. If you are like me and you don't have the means to subscribe to services like Audible, check your local library. I was able to borrow from @stlouiscountylibrary and they also have so much other great audio available courtesy of your tax dollars. #inktober # inktober2020 #Morningwarmupsketch #audiodramaday #audiodramaeveryday #worldaudiodramaday #scriptedpodcasts #dc #dccomics #jamesmcavoy #neilgaiman #sandman #thesandman #audible #morpheus #dream #JamesHannigan #dirkmaggs https://www.instagram.com/p/CGY4OpRDYok/?igshid=t07xsip1ppiq

inktober Day - 05 - (Fall of the House of Sunshine, Pangla) The House of Sunshine is one of the most cracked-out audio dramas I have ever listened too. They ended their final season under the sub-header of This Dumb Universe. It might not be to everyone's taste, but if you like mad-cap, puppet-y, time-travel, musicals this might be the show for you! Today's sketch is of Pengla (played by Melissa Lusk), who is the product of the prophesied joining of Tooth and Fuzz (so much back story to that last sentence, I have not idea were to ever begin). Pengla also during this time of transformation decided to transition from male to female to find she/her's true puppet-y self. So as you can see it is a very progressive show, but such a trippy ride. If you are a fan of Rocky Horror, I think you may enjoy this program. #inktober # inktober2020 #Morningwarmupsketch #audiodramaday #audiodramaeveryday #worldaudiodramaday #scriptedpodcasts #fallofthehouseofsunshine #podmusical #pangla #melissalusk @melissalusk #rockyhorrorpictureshow #rockyhorror https://www.instagram.com/p/CGOgB9tj-3K/?igshid=1umi2nz79wt9c
