tumblr is still autofollowing blogs I did not follow. They seem to be either people liking my posts or part of communities i’m part of so it’s 100% a feature not a bug. I checked apps and plugins and I have none that could cause this. This has been happening for years.

Tumblr please can you remove this lord.

I had a nightmare last night that my tumblr autofollowed a blog called your-fave-is-a-yandere (dont know if this is a real blog) so I was like "wtf is this" and when I checked it .the latest post on there was me . it looked like this

First up, a look at what happened when we accidentally clipped out of the DJ's boss arena! Still not... entirely sure how we managed that one, but it is fairly comedic to see how big and just plain empty the Plantarium is without that crowd filling in the space.

But you gotta be careful you don't tred too far, or else-

We actually feel for a bit before trying to switch characters and the game teleporting us back topside. No players supposed to be running around up there, no collision.

Sometime later, we realized if you rush fast enough you can actually get around DJ faster than his model can track his movements, allowing a peak into what's actually happening with that couch thing he was laying on prior to his turntable spinning around in front of him.

Yeah, it turns out he's so short he needs to use that cushion as a stepping stool to even reach his own set-up to begin with! His feet clip into the pillow a bit- after all, the Players not really supposed to see this view, and if you get back here fast enough this happens.

Still, it's just funny to imagine the DJ needing to take a step up when his equipment spins around otherwise he ends up smacking himself in the shin. All this just to be able to lay down between performances.

And on the opposite scale of things-

We found out you can get up here! And just spend ages goofing around scaling this thing.

But.

It turns out, if you do this, whichever character that was left to autofollow... gets a little stuck.

Yeah.

He couldn't get out without moving far enough away to teleport.

He can even get stuck in the hand!

anyways back to the boss fight.

You can actually escape before the DJ teleports you inside this box of his and be completely safe from the planetary system he will then proceed to hurl at your defenseless partner! (who takes no damage. No NPCs were harmed in the making of these screenshots)

we're a bit speculative rn as too how to pull it off- it feels like there's two methods we managed to do it with-

switching characters right as the game goes to teleport you, and said partner being far enough away at the time

a dash right as the game goes to tp you, skipping right past as the box forms without you inside of it

However, it doesn't feel... consistent for either method? Half the time it works, half the time it doesn't, so it feels like we're missing something with the whole process.

Notable, he's also programmed to follow the player, so he'll just watch as you scurry around outside his range. It's too much work to get you back inside, apparently.

You can also get behind him in this phase too, when he gets locks into place by certain animations!

Judging by komanda being the default tumblr you autofollow upon joining, I imagine they are likely russian based

the derek blog also hasn't been active since 2019, all this implies this might actually be there main and they just havent done shit but lurk and send anons, all the likes are old, the following is old, it's all conjecture of course, but as someone with too many blogs, itd be odd of them to go out of their way like this to find and like these, ESPECIALLY because since they have SO FEW NOTES its super easy to actually CHECK the other blogs that interacted with them

NONE of the other notes have blogs that show ANY dislike of kokichi or favoritism, most either just had a casual amount of content, or had even made kokichi content

As such im at least 75% sure that this IS there main or at least an older blog

There are three ways you can go about this from here; if you believe the new follow is a real person, you can simply block and unblock. This will cause them to unfollow you, but not block them if they find you naturally later and actually want to follow instead of being forced to autofollow you. Or, you can report but not block. This will still give Tumblr a chance to investigate and handle it, and may stand the best chance of causing tumblr to rethink that extremely poorly designed sign up flow if they have to constantly investigate every new account. Or you can just give new follows a 24+ hours grace period to change icons before you block and report. It's a little more work-intensive on your part to keep track from day to day, but it gives people a chance to get through this process and change their icon.

@wip @staff I would SERIOUSLY consider rethinking this sign up process, as you are going to do harm to new and long term users this way. I don't think you should make them follow ANYTHING before they've had a chance to look around, but you should at LEAST drop the "follow users" portion unless you're going to suddenly get good about the bot situation. Current users are going to do whatever they have to, to make life here tenable, and that may include making the Tumblr experience SUCK for new users who find themselves blocked from their interests for no discernible reason because you forced them to follow people while they still look like bots.

fun fact!! it turns out that now when u make a new blog, tumblr forces you to follow 3-4 people before you can change your icon or modify your blog in any way!! this, of course, means that, yes, some of the "potential bots" many of us have been automatically blocking could have possibly been genuine new users who were only just seconds in to having an account!!! tumblr is literally screwing new users over!!!!
