WIP: EP11 Kitbash Series
My game is in need of a funkier, more futuristic skyline. I’ll be releasing a series of items designed for recreating neighborhood deco from Sims 3: Into the Future (EA/Maxis, 2013) (and other EPs) as functional lots. This is a really fun project I came to realize was possible after seeing @somedaythesun’s awesome 3t2 building sets.
Kitbashing is combining items from multiple sources to create something “new,” and usually involves using objects in ways they weren’t originally intended.
The practice is similar to remixing images into a mosaic. Buggybooz's famous Nooks & Niches sets (2012) may fall in this category, especially when looking at the creative ways @riekus13 uses them here. Objects from the “Midnight At…” series at Blue Heaven Sims could be used this way too.
Among other things, my set(s) will mainly include lot shells – big, single-tile “pillars” you’ll be able to plop on lots. Then, build above, below, in, and around them to create useable structures. Shell challenge anyone?
Shell objects are ideal for builders for several reasons: less reliance on cheats to achieve the look you want, minimizes the risk of hitting wall/object limits, more options re: uniquely shaped buildings, cuts down on the in-game price of lots, etc.
I'm hoping this will make building a bit easier and more straight forward for those who typically don't enjoy it, and for others who want fuller modern/sci-fi hood maps.
Playing with texture/color options…a lot of the items are ideal for 3x3 (30x30 tiles) or bigger.
They’re biiiiiiig and hood visible…but still, only 1-tile for easier placement when building and better routing during gameplay.
I need to make some more adjustments so the objects align with walls and reposit items to my Repository Pack – to maximize color/texture/glass options - but these are almost ready to publish!
CREDITS Thanks: Repository Technique Tutorial (@hugelunatic), Risa Garden Dome (@blueheavensims, 2008), Sim Crafters, Sim Shenanigans, @lordcrumps for nudging me to learn how to create the CC I wanna see. Sources: Any Color You Like (@curiousb, 2010),The Sims 3: Into The Future (EA/Maxis, 2013).

A ted talk on why Neo-Traditionalism of Japan is underrated

The album announcement has put me in a hifuu mood which made me fall in love with NToJ. At first, I never really cared for the album. In fact, I used to think it was the worst one out of ZUN's Music Collection. But after listening to it thoroughly, I think this album rocks actually. And I'm gonna tell you why.
the remixes
The songs that ZUN chose to remaster for this album are great picks imho, i mean, Unkown X? Fate of Sixty Years??? The new versions of these tracks are all fantastic, because they update the instrumentation to sound more akin to that of TD and DDC, while not straying too far from the original versions, making for an awesome listening experience. The best remix in this album hands down is Let's Live in a Lovely Cemetery, which adds a nice blend of traditional Japanese instruments. I'd go as far to say it's an upgrade from the original from Ten Desires.
2. The originals
Now even though the remixes are great, that doesn't stop the original tracks from being just as fantastic. They al have this really calming, soothing vibe to them, that really makes the album nice to listen to when relaxing. The instrumentation is also fantastic, blending traditional instruments with electronic ones, perfectly fitting the "Neo-traditionalism" aspect of the album. All of the tracks were great, but there are two that really stuck with me. First, Izanagi Object. It starts mysterious and slowly builds it's way up to a relaxing but up-beat melody for the climax of the song. This one in particular leans more to the futuristic side of things. On the other hand, Led On By a Cow to Visit Zenoku Temple leans more to the traditional side of things, with a serene, almost nature-esque vibe. I also love how the Theme of Eastern Story leitmotif is handled here, it sort of starts off like a title theme, and ends up sounding like a stage theme towards the end. Love it.
3. The story
The story (and the entire album to an extent) is a sequel to Trojan Green Asteroid, where Merry is done recovering from her otherworldly sickness. After Renko and Merry reunite, they start exploring Shinshuu. There's a lot of neat lore in here! It mentions how there's no real vegetation left on earth, and that it's all artificial, which is a nice reminder that hifuu takes place in the future, and it also states that Merry has no family living in Japan, suggesting she's from another country. It also shows that Merry's power getting stronger caused Renko to worry, showing that they do care about each other. It's a good read.
In conclusion, go give NToJ a listen! It's a great album, and also a nice recap for the upcoming new hifuu album.

What's The Schmooze on Terri Starstrike?:
Set in an alternate retro-futuristic 2005, imagined through the eyes of the 1960s, filled with holograms, highly-advanced robotics, touch-free technology, and a midcentury aesthetic, we follow three best friends - Terrina, Bailynn, and Jack - as they navigate teenage high school life in the beachside Californian town of Westshore. Terrina is the artistically-inclined team leader who dreams of becoming a part of another world beyond her home planet of El-Doe, but still figuring out who she is as a Human-Jotuzon hybrid, Bailynn, Terri’s madly-in-love girlfriend, is a smart, ambitious straight-A student and a hybrid who was born and raised in the human world, and Jack, Terri’s childhood friend from El-Doe, is an enthusiastic and flamboyant genius who’s learning to be more open about his personal interests, while protecting the girls’ secrets from disapproving peers. The three Jotuzons, who are normally giant, are experiencing the highs and lows of human life on human level while figuring out a way to bring the worlds of humans and Jotuzons back together.
Terrina Ave-Lo (She/Her)
The star of our show, the groovy Afro-Latina fashionista from a distant planet who was born as a Human-Jotuzon hybrid. She felt like a misfit amongst the perfect Jotuzons, gorgeous 60-foot-tall giants who are hailed as the most marvelous creatures in the universe, but on Earth, she became proud of her size-shifting gene, giving her the ability to shrink to human level and interact with the Earthlings. Terrina is a proud half-Puerto Rican lesbian who’s learning to live with her long lost dad, the world-famous media mogul Max Raymond. She vows to know why her mother, Empress Genn, wanted her to be a half-human hybrid, but until she finds her answer, she’s determined to bridge the broken gap between Jotuzons and humans. Terri is a girl of many things - She’s the school’s sharp-witted queen bee, a popular cheerleader, and a female quarterback. She loves to paint (though very messily), she’s a songbird with a beautiful singing voice, and she’s the teen model sensation that Westshore is going crazy over. Never misses an episode of That’s So Raven or American Idol. Her small, solid friend group, consisting of her childhood friend Jack and her girlfriend Bailynn, means the entire world to her and she remains fiercely devoted to the two of them.
Bailynn Lo-Shanta (She/Her)
Bailynn Lo-Shanta, formerly known as Bailey Wilson, has been widely regarded as the smartest kid in Westshore: a straight-A student with spelling bee championships and science fair medals to her name, but she’s also known for her strange, weird interests in the unknown. After meeting her current girlfriend Terrina Ave-Lo, she discovered a huge secret about her heritage: she’s actually a half-human Jotuzon! Ever since that day, she has remained as the super-smart, sizeshifting giant who’s passionately in love with the most awesome girlfriend in the galaxy. Bailynn acts as the calculated voice of reason for her trio, but she never loses her fangirl passion for the world beyond. Deeply devoted to her deceased father, Dr. Irwin Wilson, always keeping his Paranormal Journal close to her heart. Unabashedly worships Stephen Hawking, as much as she loves Mary J. Blige. Stays up past midnight to rewatch episodes of the Twilight Zone. She has a sweet tooth for chocolate chip pancakes and root beer floats, and believes in the superstitions of voodoo dolls and tarot cards.
Jack El-Benn (He/They)
Jack El-Benn is a proud transgender Jotuzon and a deeply passionate studier of the Earth Humans. Fascinated by their artifacts and their technology, he followed Terrina to Earth to deep deeper into their world. They’re a very energetic giant who can be easily distracted by shiny objects, but they’re always there to help his most-trusted friends, Terrina and Bailynn. Jack uses his Jotu-Bracelet to shrink to human size and interact with his human friends. Their fashion style often fluctuates from nerdy and preppy to fabulously flamboyant. He is a passionate theatre kid and a proud member of the school’s drama club, who is always taking hour-long makeup sessions to sing the Wicked and Hairspray albums. Crazily in love with *NSYNC and their music.
Khadija Saleh (She/Her)
Khadija Saleh is the Palestinian-Egyptian student body president at Westshore High, and Bailynn’s closest friend. A proud Arab girl and a future archeologist with a strong intuition, she serves as the voice of logic for her friends, while also studying Westshore’s connection to unexplained phenomena. No matter what the odds are, she has always believed in peaceful co-existence between Jotuzons and humans, and is advocating for Terrina’s master plan to interrogate the school. Khadija is fascinated with the ancient artifacts that the giant Jotuzons left behind, and wants to study their ancient language and culture with Terri’s help. Deeply rooted to her ancestral homeland in Palestine. She loves to organize the school dances, enjoying watching local drag races, and is most likely to quote Beyoncé at her graduation ceremony.
Izzy Scott (They/Them)
Social misfit Izzy Scott, born of mixed Filipino, Hawaiian, and Korean descent, is a nonbinary autistic daredevil who strives to break the restrictive gender norms of Westshore. Having grown up in San Francisco, they’re a scrawny, wisecracking enby and a member of the school’s soccer team who is the closest to Terri in personality. They may seem aloof sometimes with their eyes glued to their phone and their ears in their headphones, but don’t cross them though, they might just hit you with a sassy insult. They like cracking bad pun jokes, watching episode reruns of the Simpsons, and watching old commercials from the 80s.
Kiko Ka-Lilo (She/Her)
Kiko Ka-Lilo is a rare Mertilian-Jotuzon hybrid who was born to a black mother and a Japanese-Hawaiian father. Once a part of Kemba’s popular girl clique on El-Doe, Kiko is a shy and meek wallflower who’s learning to stand on her two feet, as she becomes one of the Jotuzons integrated into Westshore High School. She looks to Terri as a hero who helped her embrace her own hybrid identity. She can transform into her Mertilian form whenever she’s submerged in water, and is capable of sizeshifting from Jotuzon size to human size. Kiko loves writing her own poetry, searching through shipwrecks, and wants to prove her worth as the school’s first Jotuzon on the volleyball team. She often tagalongs with the Giant Trio on their adventures.
Sprite De La Rosa (She/Her)
Sprite De La Rosa is a Mertilian of Haitian and Dominican descent who was washed up to the shores of Westshore during a hurricane. Now residing in the local pool, she has a never ending thirst for adventure and exploring the world around her. Helplessly romantic, she falls head over fins for Izzy Sanchez and is starting to question if she’s really in love with them. Sprite juggles her love for acting and volleyball with her passion for reading books in the school library. She is tight-knit friends with her volleyball partner Kiko, who she often calls her “aquatic sea friend.” Her fashion style is always connected to the tropical vibes of the sea. Posts videos of herself on social media singing with her harmonious siren-like voice. As a Mertilian, she can talk to sea creatures, and her legs transform into a luscious mermaid tail when she’s in the water.
Cassandra “Candy” Levi (She/Her)
Cassandra “Candy” Levi is a Jewish theatre kid and an anxious drama queen who’s always setting plans for her future. Like Bailynn, she is deeply invested in Westshore’s connection to mystery phenomena and devotes her entire life’s work to figuring out the truth. Candy might be the biggest klutz in the group, but she’s also the most passionate actress and a member of the school’s drama club. Candy and Khadija always bond over their different religious experiences, and they work together to decode the secrets of their hometown. She and Jack also form a deep friendship over their love for musical theatre and dogs. She lives with her married mothers and her pet dog Licorice in a downtown apartment and firmly believes that her lesbian identity runs in the family. Emotionally attached to Avril Lavigne’s music, as well as jelly donuts that remind her of her mothers’ sufganiyot.
So what's the schmooze on Terri Starstrike? There's so much more to discover in the town of Westshore, California, so follow us for more fun!

Prompts: Hospital 🏥
These ones are AI generated. But they are good prompts.
Ideas for a hospital room. If you are doing art or writing.

There were some futuristic ones as well. If you want to create a cyberpunk hospital for your creations.

This just looks like you're scrolling through a fricking home room sale catalogue.
Beds for sale!
Hospital beds for sale! Reduced price!

Some other hospital themes. Equipment and crap you'd normally see in a hospital.

The hospital is the place where those who are sick get treated. *no shit, ice dragon... no shit*

Lots of nurse ideas as well. Though in a real hospital environment full of sharp objects, you wouldn't really want your cleavage showing. It also normally gets very cold in a hospital.

Visit Pixiv for more hospital related works. I just put in hospital in the search bar and these were the results.
However. If you guys want to get really creative, and include some HORROR then I recommend looking at the hospital in Dark Deception.
It's actually a neat looking hospital and the fact that you run around an entire hospital interior is awesome. Dark Deception is a maze running horror game where you run around creepy location levels with monsters coming after you. I could go into far more detail but I don't want to take too much of your time.

Look at that design! The reaper nurses aren't exactly scary, just annoying as hell. Roller skating pests that can turn invisible and stab you to death with a giant syringe.

Ambulances included. Where you freaking ride on the top of them.

Neon lights. The reception area is actually more like a night club. Because of the lore based around these monster nurses.

Don't worry. This is just what being discharged from a hospital located in hell is like (well, actually you discharge yourself, these guys want you dead dead)
Horror hospitals are cool but not for the faint of heart. After all, hospitals in general can be unsettling to be in.

But at least they don't have a behemoth nurse with two massive buzzsaws that can take out an ambulance in one strike.
Here's the wiki link to the hospital if you want to learn more about it.
Oh yeah, this hospital is a freaking prison as well. Originally the whole level was SUPPOSED to be the prison level. So it got turned into a hospital/prison hybrid instead.
That is all for now
See you later, or in a couple of seconds, depending on how often you might end up randomly running into me

Welp, i know that you may be working on the "demon sorccerers on brazil" scenarios, but what if hsi wu or possibly tso lan ended up being into one of the brazilian womans in there?
Maybe in a more mordern time way? It could be interesting and funny seeing the brazilian teaching hsi wu how to use a phone or a remote, but i can also imagine him picking him up and taking home his brazilian s/o whenever they get too drunk in a bar (carrying they like a sack of potatoes)
(Also, i hope you doing alright, and also, be sure to have a break and take a good rest, you can answer this whenever you want, and i hope you doing fine, have a good day)
Clearly this is answered way after I answered the Question referenced, so you can imagine how long these take because of Life Stuff :V
Firstly, I want to state that I think Hsi Wu would more likely be in either of these situations because even if I made a "What If..." scenario with Tso Lan, everything would be too Out of Character for him. I honestly don't see him liking human's too much. I mean, none of them really do, but Tso Lan would be higher on that list of "Who Doesn't Like Humans the Most."
Anyway...
...I think it would be pretty difficult to impress a Demon Sorcerer, even with most of today's tech. A lot of the war stuff (stealth bomber jets, nuclear bombs, all that torture in WWII Germany and Japan, etc) and scientific discoveries (microbiological discoveries, regrowing organs, nuclear fusion (very recent and in progress), etc) would be pretty awesome to them, but of course they would race with each other to who will discover the next Big Thing in Science and Warfare, and that would lead to the world's destruction (Tso Lan wouldn't care because he'd on the Moon, sipping Moon Tea, thinking they're all fools). Depending on who is into what, the Demon Sorcerers would have hundreds of Science Nerds or Warlords working just as hard as laborers. However, they would also need to severely regulate the accessibility to these areas in fear of humans overtaking them (I mean, damn. Look what humans have done/made without their presence. It's amazing and horrifying!)
Okay, you were going towards the Domestic route for an Answer, but I don't think ANY of them would be Domestic nor even want it; they would constantly avoid it, if anything. Now, since we'll specify Hsi Wu, maybe he would be interested in being taught some Science Stuff that catch his interest. I think the Scientist would also need an Imaginative/Artistic side because I doubt Hsi Wu would entirely like the "futuristic" theme with shining white/platinum stuff with geometrical and simple designs. Nah, make a giant, flying, lightning breathing bat-wyvern that he can control remotely. Make an ARMY OF THEM!!
So, because Hsi Wu seems to be one of the smarter Demons of the family, I think he'd be amused with how Science works, getting a little excited when A Thing Does a Thing without needing magic. Heck, maybe he'd be interested in aerial objects, like jets and drones, and invest in more research into Earth's Atmosphere (seeing as how he needs to fly with wings, he needs an atmosphere to do so, thus I'm assuming he can only physically fly so high) after seeing the movie NOPE by Jordan Peele because that Thing ain't from space, that Thing's from Earth and Tso Lan can agree (although he's never seen such a thing, but whatever).
I can also see Hsi Wu being one of the DS's more willing to drink to drunkenness, so in addition to a S/O who drinks just as much, they would both be a mess. Very loud, mostly happy and giddy, quick to anger but quick to relax, and more willing to be openly affectionate to his human S/O. Singing, dancing, kissing, playing games, etc in front of demons and people. Although he'd definitely get the Bad Rep of "fucking the lower class," he'll keep firm in the rest of his Demonic Attributes with being greedy, cruel, prideful, and (arguably) lazy. So, even though his siblings would look down on him for pairing with a human, they will still demand he get respect from lower demons and the rest of humanity.
But anyway, yeah, Hsi Wu can handle his alcohol but will let it make him be silly. Yeah it will make it more difficult to keep an eye on his human, especially since they'd be drunk as well, but that's what Body Guards are for, right? I'm not sure if either of them would be the ones to initiate leaving, both of them passing out and having his Guards carry the both of them home, but I think Hsi Wu might be the one do it sometimes. It would have to be a looooong night, not being anywhere near his Palace, and the event only being the two of them. Therefore, for both of their protection and so he doesn't fly while drunk, he would have to be careful with how much he drinks. Obviously his human would want to drink more, but if Hsi Wu can't drink that much then they can't either, leading to him carrying his S/O out and home like a sack of Pouting Potatoes.

Sorry if me and other anons are overloading you with these asks it's because you've got such good ideas, writing and drawing skills and your doing your AUs which are amazing and we don't want to add anymore pressure on you. Again sorry.
No, you guys are fine! All these asks have actually gotten me back into my Trigun fixation. It used to be just cleaning out my drafts and inbox, but now I’m actually having fun making stuff for it again! Even my Hellsing OC didn’t have this many people asking about her, and I’m so glad that you guys love Ari and my AUs so much! I’m working on putting together an illustration for some Ari lore that should drop soon, too!
I don’t have a problem with you all sending me asks — I just didn’t really vibe with the worm au for whatever reason. Maybe I’m already content with the naga au (which I’ve been sketching all day, lmao), I don’t know. I just didn’t vibe with it. PLEASE don't stop sending me asks about them. You guys are the reason I’m back and I don’t want you to leave.
If it’s more AU content you’d like to see, I’m happy to throw out other AUs I’ve got hidden away! I, oh...oh, god. I have so many. Alternate dimensions, alternate timelines, alternate futures...you name it. They're all shoved into a fun Google Doc because I'm VERY meticulous about how I log my stuff so I don't lose any of it. I'm happy to share the doc when I'm done updating it, but for now I'll list a few of my favorite AUs.
We got...
Gods Walk Among Us: Rather than being used as objects, the PLANTs are worshiped as deities and have more supernatural aspects to them. Because PLANTs are treated much better, they are able to flourish and create large, lush oases for humans to live in. As such, they must periodically withdraw into themselves to replenish their power. While Knives is worshiped, Vash is feared as a dark god, and has become so beaten down by humanity’s treatment of him that he’s almost suicidal. Thankfully, he has at least one person on his side -- his lovely wife Ari.
Kitty AU: Mostly everyone in the show is a cat. Vash and Knives are twin Maine Coons and Ari is a Havana brown owned by Rem, Milly and Meryl are a Turkish Angora and a Siamese who are owned by the sweet old Mr. Bernadelli, Wolfwood is is a black cat who's famous at the local orphanage, the list goes on.
Ocean Man AU: Rather than a desert planet, No Man’s Land is largely covered by water (a la Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet), and PLANTs are large mermaid-like entities called Hydrophytes, which keep the human settlements afloat or sustained underwater. Vash and Knives are more human-like Hydrophytes who can speak for their kind, but they're still BIG BOYS. Ari is now mutated by Hydrophyte DNA instead of PLANT DNA, which gives her Hydrophyte abilities such as speaking to the rest of the species, breathing underwater, etc. It's mainly Ari and Vash navigating everyday life with their spouse being radically different in size compared to them and trying to keep Vash from being hunted down by bounty hunters.
Modernity: A futuristic “modern” No Man’s Land in which PLANTs are used as a source of clean energy. Ari is an orphan unofficially adopted by her mother’s coworker Rem Saverem, and grows up alongside Rem’s officially-adopted children, a pair of Independent PLANTs named Vash and Nai. The children turn to each other after Rem’s death, and form a polycule for several decades. Eventually, Nai’s controlling nature and misanthropic attitude leads him to cripple Vash in an argument, and Ari takes Vash and flees. Nowadays, Vash and Ari are drifters living on the run with Ari taking freelance PLANT servicing jobs to help them get by, while Nai grows his business empire and endlessly searches for them. The couple are forced to flee their apartment after Nai oversteps his boundaries for the thousandth time, and take to living in a trailer while they raise their children.
Sinister Vash, of course. That boy needs no explanation.
Satyr AU, based on this awesome fanfic by @triplesilverstar. On a far-future Earth, humans have gone extinct, with the species of the future being gender-segregated satyrs and nymphs. Children are typically one or the other depending on their gender. Vash and Knives are exceptionally-powerful satyrs, while Ari is a nymph with satyr mutations. Vash and Ari live together on an orchard that they fixed up from scratch, and they are soon blessed with four beautiful hybrid children. Unfortunately, their happiness is shattered by Vash’s past coming back to haunt him, and they are soon targeted by some of the strongest satyrs that Ari has ever seen.
I have more. I have so many more. I have so many that it hurts. AaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-

the papyrus and wingdings brothers dynamic to me is that they both call each other “LITTLE BROTHER” just to piss each other off even though they’re twins. they get into wrestling matches over whether sliding block puzzles are stupid or awesome and they get into heated debates over whose special interests are objectively better, like medieval fantasy vs futuristic sci-fi or cars vs. trains and shit. wingdings makes a prototype blaster and shows it to papyrus, waving it around all cocky like IS THIS NOT. THE COOLEST SHIT. YOU HAVE EVER SEEN ? and papyrus tries to snatch it away from him like LITTLE BROTHER!!! GUN’S ARE NOT, IN FACT, “COOL.” THEY’RE DANGEROUS!!! YOU’LL HURT YOURSELF!!! and wingdings pushes him back with a palm over his face and holds the blaster out of reach and tuts at him OH DEAR. OH MY. LITTLE BROTHER. I SHOULD NEVER HAVE EXPECTED YOU TO UNDERSTAND. IT IS PRECISELY THE ELEMENT OF DANGER THAT MAKES THEM COOL. and papyrus grabs his arm and spins him into a headlock while trying to grab at the blaster like KIDS LIKE YOU SHOULD BE PLAYING WITH SOMETHING AGE-APPROPRIATE AND SAFE. LIKE A SWORD. and wingdings is like SWORDS ARE THE STOPGAP RESORT OF SIMPLETONS FEARFUL OF TECHNOLOGICAL PROGRESS while he gnaws on papyrus’s arm like a dog trying to get him to let go and papyrus gasps and starts to tear up and says indignantly Y-YOU!!! YOU TAKE THAT BACK!!! SWORDS ARE BADASS AND BITCHIN’!!! and as they fight over the blaster they accidentally fire it off and it vaporizes a massive hole in the wall. sans is standing on the other side taking a shower fully clothed and they’re all just silent for a moment processing the situation before papyrus turns to wingdings, who’s staring in utter terror at the blaster in his trembling hand, like SO… CAN I HAVE ONE OF THOSE WHEN YOU’RE DONE?
#$ shitpost zone#well this is specifically like. the pre-universe-hop deltarune dynamic. the underground dynamic is less cheerful in my mind

Personal Learning and Reflections
I did a few cool things in Maya in class, but mainly when it came to doing really complex 3D modeling. Outside of class, I also put much effort into delving deep into the science involved in how and why things in the real world look and feel the way they do. I wanted my textures to be super realistic, so I researched how light interacts with different materials: wood, metal, and strings. It was like being some kind of private detective in science, working out how the light reflects and bends, depending on what it hits, and how scratches or dents on the surface could change things.
And in the process, I became a guitar expert in my free time! I've looked at a lot of types of guitars: from classic to electric, in all sorts of crazy shapes. I read about all of the different parts that comprise the electric guitar, from pickups to capture the sound to the bridge, which holds the strings in place, and tuners that can change the pitch. All this helped me in making the right decisions for my 3D model of guitar, so it could look quite real with its details.
Then, to give the guitar more life, I used a number of advanced texturing tutorials in Substance Painter: master it! I got to study how to get materials as life-like, or even exactly life-like, with the polish that usually is observed on a wood body and bright reflective strings.
All this extra work outside of class really helped me level up in 3D modeling. I got way better at UV unwrapping-the process of taking an object and making a sort of pattern that you can use to wrap it in textures so that they aren't stretched and weird. The other projects that I worked on were a very detailed sword and a box that was from a futuristic sci-fi setting. These projects might sound different from a guitar, but they taught me a lot about how to manage the shape of a 3D model, how to make smooth curves, and how to understand the overall form and structure of an object.
It's like learning the basics of drawing before trying to paint a masterpiece. All those skills I learned from the sword and the box directly helped me with the guitar project. I took all the techniques and knowledge I gained from those earlier projects and used them to make my 3D guitar as realistic and awesome as possible.

hi I just remembered that I got tagged in this I never did it and since I've got a while left on my train (I will be late to class) I'm doing it now
Do you make your bed?
I guess I do? I don't make it every day or plan to do it or anything but when it needs making or if it occurs to me I make it
What's your favourite number?
I hate all numbers indiscriminately :)
What is your job?
stereotypical arts student so I'm unemployed. I take casual jobs where I can though, will hopefully be babysitting again this holidays
I also just almost forgot to change trains oops
If you could go back to school, would you?
high school? absolutely not I would rather die. I definitely want to keep going with uni but I'm also gonna say no for that, just cause I wouldn't want to do any of it a second time so far. please take me to third year classes immediately I need to be reading above my grade level
Can you parallel park?
I have never driven a car! it's also been almost exactly a month since I got my learners so that's fun
A job you had that would surprise people?
I haven't really had enough jobs for this. i guess for about a month last year (I quit cause I got overwhelmed) I worked at a fruit and veg stall at a market a couple suburbs away, surprising cause I managed to wake up at 5am on a saturday for it and because they paid us in cash and it was all not very legal
and my lecture starts in 2 minutes and I just got off the train so I guess I am finishing this later
update i made it and I only missed three minutes 👍
Do you think aliens are real?
in the 'futuristic green guy' sense no, in the 'some form of thing living in space' sense probably, but either way I guess you can't really prove that they aren't. same with most supernatural/whatever things, I don't actively think that they're out there but if I was on a walk and some weird green guy came down to earth in a big spaceship I'd just be like ok man
Can you drive a manual car?
again, never driven. I reckon I could do it though
What's your guilty pleasure?
uhhhh I guess if I had to think of something it'd be like. I like bad whiny music that people would probably call emo and/or pop punk. like sleeping with sirens and the front bottoms and the WSTR identity crisis album. idk if you can really call it a guilty pleasure though I don't feel guilty about it I just. enjoy things that I think are not good objectively
Tattoos?
I don't think I can bother with them at the moment but I would want one, if only to spite my mum for saying I would regret the fma tattoo I told her I wanted when I was 10 because that tattoo was awesome I would absolutely still get it and fma has been very dear to me for the past like 8-9 years
Favourite colour?
green! I like any green but particularly more pastel or mint (yuki colour) shades
Favourite type of music?
I hate this question because what do you mean by 'type'. I don't understand genres it's all just vibes to me. my taste is also very inconsistent but i guess I would call my favourites vocaloid songs that go hard, idolish7 songs that emotionally destroy me, and whatever type of music they might giants makes. weirdguy music
Do you like puzzles?
only if I'm good at them
Any phobias?
I have a bug phobia of mystery origin. I don't think bugs are scary I think they're cool and pictures of bugs don't scare me (most of the time) but for some reason if they're big enough and indoors and/or too close to me I start getting heart palpitations and go into fight or flight. I don't understand
Favourite childhood sport?
I was never a sport person for various reasons but the one sport I think I did mostly enjoy as a kid was soccer (american football I'm pretty sure). when I was 6-7 I joined a club my friend was in that was pretty laid back and I liked when I got to be goalkeeper and then the club shut down and I didn't want to move to one of the competitive ones so I quit. majority of extracurriculars I did after that were ones my parents forced me to do
Do you talk to yourself?
not out loud, for whatever reason I find it difficult to speak when I'm not talking to someone else (this was in issue in highschool english because they were obsessed with giving us assignments that were like "make a podcast!" i.e. record yourself giving a speech and I would just turn in the script cause I didn't feel like forcing myself to talk) but internally yeah. when I was in primary school I went through a lot of phases of thinking as if i was talking to the editor of my novel or my imaginary youtube audience or a fictional character. now I just do it directly to myself (I/we depending on the vibes)
What movie(s) do you adore?
treasure planet my beloved. fullmetal alchemist conqueror of shambala is a movie made specifically for me (fma03 and set in the weimar republic and historically accurate. disregarding all the alchemy/magic). also my controversial problematic fave ghibli movie ocean waves <3
Coffee or tea?
definitely tea, I don't really drink either but coffee just tastes bad. like dirt but sad and not even crunchy
First thing you wanted to be when growing up?
not sure about the first, I think the biggest one I was serious about was a fiction writer but I reject that because I only chose it to copy my mum. I'm gonna go with archaeologist cause that's one of the earliest ones I can remember and it ended up being surprisingly relevant
not tagging anyone but as always feel free to consider yourself tagged if you see this!
Ask Meme
I was tagged by @rosencrantzsguildenstern for this ask meme, so why not!
Do you make your bed?
Uhhhh well. Sort of. I definitely make it any time I expect I'm going to have company, but on a weekday when I'm the only one in my dorm room? Nah. I didn't make it when I had a roommate either unless I thought she was going to have company (but she never warned me in advance for that so LMAO)
What's your favorite number?
I'm a lucky 7 kind of gal, but I also really jive with 36 and 81. My factors of 9 <3 <3 <3 If I have to pick one, it's always going to be 7 though
What is your job?
Right now, I work for the US Department of Agriculture! I've worked some other random jobs though, such as a waitress at a high-end retirement home and an assistant at a local hospital
If you could go back to school, would you?
Yes. Absolutely. I would reduce how many classes I take (because haha I am at 22 credit hours right now :')) but I love learning! I don't love all the pomp and circumstance of academia, but I've considered becoming a teacher several times as a career option and I actually have taught in a professional setting before. School's a love of mine that even all the stresses I've put myself through hasn't fully been killed
Can you parallel park?
Yep! My city almost never requires it because it's a newer one and street parking is only really used in our tiny downtown or in neighborhoods, but I can do it!
A job you had that would surprise people?
Uhhhh I think my current job is that, LOL! But even then, once I explain the details of my job, people seem to think it fits me pretty well :)
Do you think aliens are real?
I think that somewhere in space, there's something that could be considered life, but we can't agree if viruses are living, so I doubt that whatever could be "life" in another part of space would fit our current definitions! Evolution is already fucked enough as is, so accidentally going down any path that resembles what happened on Earth feels pretty unlikely to me
Can you drive a manual car?
Yes! I practiced with my grandpa's old car, though I also stalled a few times LOL so I'm not GOOD, but I can do it! With more practice I think I would be fine
What's your guilty pleasure?
I'm not really sure? I'm not really guilty about any of my pleasures because they're all pretty vanilla? In my household it's definitely mayo though. No one in my household likes mayo and I usually have to deal with Bullying of the highest degree if I want to use it when I'm eating with my sister and parents
Tattoos?
Nope! And I don't want to get them either. I have an irrational thing of permanently adding things to my body to the point where I had a surgery to remove a part of my flesh instead of having a tiny metal rod inserted in me. Tattoos are filed under the same "body modification" ick mentally
Favorite Color?
A soft lilac! I also really like the darker, desaturated greens, but purple is my eternal love
Favorite type of music?
Things that lean more into the rock side of things! I like harsher sounds, faster tempos, that sort of thing, but also my music taste is literally all over the place. It really really REALLY is a case-by-case basis but if I had to say anything, most Paramore songs are ones I love
Do you like puzzles?
It depends on the puzzle! I like logic and math puzzles, and mysteries are fun as well, but a jigsaw is something I'll only really do if I'm with friends or exceedingly bored
Any phobias?
Well, there's that body modification one I mentioned earlier! I also have an irrational fear of beetles and an even more irrational fear of specifically dropping a kitchen knife into my foot! Yowch!
Favorite childhood sport?
I didn't really play sports as a kid, but if I had to pick one, probably swimming? My current favorite sport is definitely dancing, though (folk and ballroom!)
Do you talk to yourself?
Yep! I use both the singular and plural first person pronouns "I" and "We" when I talk to myself. Generally, I use "I" when I'm more passively thinking, and "We" when I'm being metacognizant.
What movie(s) do you adore?
Back to the Future (1985) by Robert Zemekis my BELOVED!!!! I cannot recommend it enough, and I made a quote from it my senior quote in high school. I also really love The Sixth Sense (1999) and Tangled (2010)
Coffee or tea?
Tea, as I have yet to ever drink coffee! But when I drink my tea, I like it unsweetened and iced
First thing you wanted to be when growing up?
First thing I remember was, ironically, a teacher! Some things don't change <3
I'm gonna tag @riinsanity @0mega-x @koi0boi @always-a-joyful-note and @yukimomodivorce but anyone can join in!

Kaiba from yugioh is objectively the funniest character ever. He lost at a card game to the plural kid at his school who he has a hatecrush on, and then got so mad about it he used all of his riches from his father's military arms dealing corporation to move the world to a futuristic card-game based economy just so he could beat that kid with as much style as possible.
Like imagine if the son of the Ceo of Lockheed Martin came to your school and you beat him at monopoly one time, and then you see him a year later and he's developed monopoly holograms so you can see giant metallic shoes moving around an actual city sized board. 3 years later and your country accepts monopoly money as actual currency. 5 years? your city runs on monopoly energy some fucking how, and the company's opened a theme park right across your street themed entirely around the Top Hat Piece because that's his favourite, he;s got a top hat shaped private jet, he keeps a top hat monopoly board piece on a necklace around his neck at all times. He sacrificed God so he could summon a Top Hat Piece in a high stakes game of egyptian magic monopoly once and it was awesome.

@holyscream replied to your post “Last night I dreamt I was watching a movie set in an English boarding school. It was very silly, like a teen comedy, but the...”
When are you to launching the GoFundMe?
Today.
It's because of a dream I had last night. In the dream, I found myself wandering through a sort of futuristic town that seemed like an amalgamation of everything that people like me tend to fantasize about in some sort of vaguely cyberpunk setting. I came across this mysterious, glowing, cube-like object that had this incredibly lifelike-looking statue of a person trapped in the cube and I decided I had to find some way to free the person before anyone else got to it. So I went up to the cube, and when I looked into its eyes they would open and the person inside would sit up, speak, then fall back down. And that happened over and over, until I was able to understand what the cube was and how to use it, and I would do the same thing over and over again with new people, freeing them from the cube and freeing their spirits from the body. It was awesome.
(At the end I gave the cube to the lady who had found it and then I left)
Anyway I'm doing this because I had a dream about it last night, except I actually gave that person a name and it was this really amazing guy named Jack who I felt bad about forgetting. And there was an alternate version of the dream where Jack was the cube and I rescued him from the cube and he asked me if I wanted to keep it, and I said no, I didn't want to keep it, and he told me he would put it in a box and give it to a guy who would keep it. And then the guy just sort of… disappeared, so I guess I never got to talk to him. This was really unsettling because I actually liked Jack and I didn't want him to disappear and be lost. (I don't know why "wanting to keep the cube" and "wanting to give it away" were two different things to me, but that was how it was)

I was curious, so I looked up “future” and “futurism” on Tumblr just to see what would pop up. An awful lot of neon art and filters, some cool fashion, mostly aesthetic type stuff. I learned what “retrofuturism” is, and there were some older-looking illustrations, which was cool. One that caught my attention was these drawings of robot ladies by Hajime Sorayama. I’m linking to the post instead of reblogging it because uhhhh i dont want my vent blog to appear in the notes of the original posts I saw, lol.

It looks really neat, like it’s really well drawn, and I looked up the artist’s website and… sigh. I can’t go anywhere on the internet without running into porn. I’m so tired of constantly seeing women objectified everywhere, but especially online, you can't go long without running into it accidentally.
Man… I’m so tired of this. Is this the dream, guys? Is this what the future is supposed to be like? I bet it’s a lot easier to rationalize objectifying women if you’re envisioning exaggeratedly woman-shaped hunks of metal that are designed to be sexy. I bet metal sex dolls won’t get mad at you for treating them like they’re less than human, like all those stupid real women do.
Sigh.
On the bright side, Sorayama isn’t the only Japanese futurist artist I found. Mariko Mori is a female artist who also deals with the objectification of women in her work, although she criticizes it instead of going along with it. She’s a performance artist who was apparently shocked when she saw “an educated woman who only served tea at the office” x Her pieces, Tea Ceremony, were a protest against the objectification of women in this way. She dresses both like an android and an office worker, and is ignored by the men around her. I like her work!
One thing she said that I thought was interesting was the article I saw about her says this:
“Beyond the macho elements of society, Mariko Mori is interested in the identity associated with gender and its current processes of redefinition. She believes she has acquired significant enough experience to ‘understand that a man and a woman are different, so how we contribute to the society may vary, as our roles could be differentiated.’ But differentiation does not mean subordination. Tea Ceremony aspires to illuminate this issue, ‘to create a better world.’”
Differentiation does not mean subordination. Wow, that’s an awesome line. It’s so depressing to look at work like Sorayama’s and see sci-fi where women are objectified. No change from how things are, the porn/sex is just more accessible. I feel like it’s hard to find media that lets women be women, not objects or pseudo-men. What I mean by the latter is that, especially in media nowadays, movie producers will take a female character and give her “male traits” to empower her. The implication being that women are not good or strong unless they can act like men. And yeah, most traits don’t (and shouldn’t) fit into a f/m binary, but it’s stupid to sit there and say that women are just as physically strong as men when our bodies are built differently. Captain Marvel is a perfect example of this being done horribly, in addition to nothing in the story possibly being different if she was a man and not a woman, she is also not allowed to have any character growth or noticeable traits besides being really rude to most of the humans she encounters. Awesome, what a great female role model! As Galetea says more or less directly in these videos, this is sexism disguised as feminism. Instead of designing a weak stereotype, or an object, or a pseudo-man, why not just let a female character be a human woman?
Sigh. I dream of a future where women and girls are treated as equitably as men, where women are allowed to be feminine without it being portrayed as weak or stupid, where women are valued as human beings. Someday.

2020 creator wrap: favourite works
tagged by @wrenhal , thank you cossette !!
rules: It’s time to love yourselves! choose your 5 (ish) favorite works you created in the past year (fics, art, edits, etc.) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you brought into the world in 2020. tag as many writers/artists/etc. as you want (fan or original) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome work!
the invisible life of addie larue cover redesign — this one took me so long and i’m so incredibly proud of it. it took me a few hours to come up with a cover design alone and even more time to figure out the psd template, so i suppose the hard work paid off.
jesper fahey edit — this one i did for grishaverseonline was a strike of inspiration at 9pm, but i really enjoyed playing around with the textures, overlays, and typography of this one.
the night circus edit — this one, frankly, might be one of my favourite edits i’ve ever made. everyone who knows me knows that i absolutely adore black paired with beige or gold, which is exactly what the colour scheme of this edit is, and i love the simplicity of it, especially the first panel.
warcross x lost in japan edit — first off, i love vibrant colouring so so so much. the aesthetic of warcross is one that i’ve always been attracted to because of its futuristic, neon-ish feel. i also liked the glitch effect and the unique (ish) layout (mostly the first two panels).
june iparis edit — this one is from my old blog, but is one of my earliest photoshop edits (my third one, if i recall correctly). and despite it being one of my early edits, it still remains one of my favourites because of the colouring and the amount of time i put in as a beginner researching how to wrap text around an object, how to use psds, etc.
tagging ( no pressure ! ) : @antinomes , @arithmancy , @kagetatsumis , & @tessawilliam <3

Box 953 Re-listen
Well, I got a bit side-tracked by life (seriously, I had to take an impromptu trip to a consulate!) but I am back, and just in time for episode 8 of Wolf 359:
Box 953
In which Eiffel finds a mysterious box, Hilbert really wants to avoid the quarterly talent show and Minkowski is the very model of a modern major general.
Sometimes I'm surprised by these episodes when I get back round to them. This one? Not so much. I think I actually remembered pretty much everything relevant about this episode, going into it: Eiffel is avoiding Minkowski, finds a mysterious box, the mysterious box gets blown up before we see what’s inside it.
And in general, I do like the episode a lot. It's funny, after all, and it does that thing that I'm noticing a lot on the re-listen where the show throws out a big weird mystery, then ends up dropping it with a theatrical shrug of the shoulders. It's a smart thing to do, because all of the unanswered questions ("Do those transmissions really come from Earth?", "There's a plant monster on the loose!", "What's with that weird voice?", "What's in the box?") could be answered in the future, but could just as easily not be. Sure, some of them are super important and interesting in hindsight. But burying the plot-relevant questions under a heap of less relevant but equally intriguing questions disguises them, and means that we're surprised when something like, say, that weird ghost voice comes back later on. Plus it creates the impression that the Hephaestus itself is a setting full of mysteries and weird things. Which is fun.
As we begin, though, all we know is that Eiffel, for whatever reason, is hiding from Minkowski in a store room. Why? Turns out, Minkowski is worryingly invested in their quarterly talent show, while Eiffel is... less than enthusiastic.
And look, I am easily pleased. The idea of the four crew members being forced to participate in a mandatory talent show is very funny to me. The fact that this is quarterly - and so they have, presumably, already suffered through several of them - makes me smile a lot. Eiffel and Hilbert being united in their dread of it? Awesome. I love it. Honestly, it makes me want to consume and/or write fanfic about the Hephaestus' previous talent shows, and the shenanigans that I just know must have been involved.
An another level, though, can we also stop to appreciate how seriously Minkowski takes it all? It's played for laughs throughout, sure, but I do like the fact that Minkowski is the sort of person to go all out and just unselfconsciously embrace the talent show. Her love of musical theatre is so joyful and pure, and I really appreciate it. I think, on some level, it even makes her a more interesting character; instead of going down the well-trodden "I'm a badass with a secret love of something cheesy, which I'm horribly embarrassed of" route, she goes for "I'm a badass with totally non-secret love of something cheesy, which I am totally open and unashamed of." It's a sign of self-confidence, I think, plus a reassuring reminder that Commander Minkowski, badass extraordinaire, nerds out just as hard as the rest of us. (Plus, you really can't be a fan of G&S and take yourself all that seriously, because come on...)
Anyway, the conversation Minkowski and Eiffel then have, and Eiffel's ensuing log entry is just enough to give some tantalising hints of what past talent shows have involved (smoke rings? poetry readings?) before Hilbert calls Eiffel, desperate to avoid the talent show. And his solution? Knock Minkowski out. Because it's Hilbert, so of course that's the answer. *Sighs*.
While Hilbert gets going with that, then, all that remains is for Eiffel to explore the store room. And while this isn’t super relevant, it is a great excuse for a Night Vale-style list of Improbable Weird Things. And seriously, pretty much every single object here is worthy of mention. We have eyeless Russian dolls straight out of a horror movie. We have letters to Santa, a revelation whose implications are both hilarious and baffling. We have Chekhov's cannon, which totally won't be relevant later in the episode.
And in among all this, Eiffel mentions Goddard Futuristics by name for the very first time, which actually surprised me. I thought they'd already come up, since in hindsight, they really do have their fingers in everything going on up on the Hephaestus, even in the first few episodes. But I guess this is their first official mention? And to be fair, I do remember assuming, early on, that this was a military mission. So this is probably the point where we are aware, for the first time, of the corporate context of it all, and the fact that it's Goddard who are basically running a for-profit private army here. Which is... fun.
The dystopian side of that is brushed aside here, though, in favour of just revelling in the out-there weirdness of all the stuff that Goddard have stored up on the Hephaestus. L-shaped Lego pieces? 3 suits of armour? The partial skull of megafauna specimen 58 "to be handled with a vague feeling of existential dread"? It's Warehouse 13, in space!
It's also kind of heartening to see how excited Eiffel is by all this. Like, I know that he essentially got forced to go to space, but he really does have the sense of adventure for it. There's something very sweet about how not-jaded and enthusiastic Eiffel gets, as soon as he encounters something new. And then the plot thickens when he discovers the titular Box 953, which is reserved for Douglas Eiffel. What could possibly be in it? Eiffel, ever curious, is clearly desperate to know.
Before we find out, of course, we're interrupted by Hilbert, whose plan to knock Minkowski out has hone horribly wrong - he's just gotten her drunk. Even better, we get Minkowski's drunken rendition of "I am the very model of a modern major general" in the background during all of this, and kudos to Emma Sherr-Ziarko, because every single thing drunk!Minkowski says from here on out is amazing. From making pirate costumes, to nearly shooting Hilbert over ice cream, to the little hiccup she does, everything about Minkowski here is perfect and wonderful.
It doesn't distract Eiffel for long, though, and soon he's asking Hera what's in the box. She doesn't know, though, and actually can't access those files at all. Instead, she gets the message "Error, inappropriate security clearance", which is pretty creepy. It's the second time in as many episodes, after all, that we hear somebody who isn't Hera speaking through the Hephaestus, and it's a reminder of just how many secrets the station potentially holds. And so all we learn, in the end, is that Box 953 is weird. It's huge, and bolted in place, and it's cold to the touch. Plus it's making a heart beat kind of sound? It's at this point, I noticed, that the background music also cuts away, and we’re left with a weird crackling noise as Eiffel goes to open it. Spooky.
Every part of me was expecting this to be a Pandora's box-type scenario where Eiffel's opening the box would unleash something terrible and all hell would break loose. So when we hear something explode, it seems like confirmation of this... except when we cut back to Eiffel, several in-universe hours later, we learn that the problem wasn't Eiffel opening the box. In fact, Eiffel didn't manage to open the box; the explosion was from Minkowski setting off the cannon. It seems like a lot happened in the three hour gap in the recording (not least, Minkowski ended with burns and frostbite?) and as a result, Box 953 was lost to the vacuum of space. Bummer.
And then that's it. Episode over. Everyone is safe and well, and the station is fine. But we don't learn what was in the box, and I don't think it really come up again? I googled it, and I think I saw a suggestion that it's the simulation-y machine from Change of Mind? But I don't remember the connection really being commented on, and even then it doesn't explain why it's specifically Eiffel's name on the box now. Like... what situation would Command have been expecting him to use it in? Why? How? So many questions, all of them unanswered!
And I suppose that's fine, at the end of the day. I enjoyed this episode, I loved the talent show idea, and I didn't mind the weird storeroom bits. I can imagine that some people probably felt cheated by the lack of answers we got here - and Eiffel's own anger and frustration as the episode ends maybe feels like a concession to those people. But personally, I'm more than willing to leave it as a riddle for the ages. If this had developed into something more later on, that would have been fun. As it is, I didn't mind it one bit, though. As long as you don't overdo it, weirdness for weirdness' sake can be plenty entertaining.
Plus, drunk Minkowski is a gift to us all :)
Miscellaneous thoughts:
So I checked out the poem that got name-dropped in this episode, Sylvia Plath's Lady Lazarus, and holy smokes, disturbing much? In an interesting kind of way, sure, but still disturbing...
"You can't solve all your problems by knocking them out." "You know, people keep saying that, and yet my problems keep going away."
D'awww Hilbert is enjoying this, isn't he?
I bet your alcohol tolerance goes way down in space. Hmm...
"Eiffel, you do not understand, there is singing."
"Swashes and buckles, Hilbert, swashes and buckles."
Also, it sounds like Hera has absolutely no objections to the talent show, and is just busy practicing her lines? What a cutie ^-^
"I don't know if it was a warning shot or if she just missed." Scared Hilbert is 100% not what I'm used to.. Is this the most frightened we ever hear him?
Don't think I missed Eiffel finding Dr. Fourier's diary :'( (another thing linking this episode to Change of Mind?)
#wolf 359#wolf359#w359#wolf 359 relisten#box 953#nellied reviews#a solidly entertaining episode#and pleasantly low-stakes#I would 100% watch a version of Warehouse 13 set in space
