the shock i got when i found out my dad hadn't actually went to a 4 year uni and also got a 2 year associates degree... i'm gonna be the first in my family to get a bachelors wtffffffffff
#like I knew my mom had done 2 years at a community college she did that when I was old enough to remember it#but for the longest time my dad has been the only one working and he's doing software programming#like I know he has extensive experience and he's really good at it#but its still absolutely insane to me. this man graduated before my 1st birthday and I never thought to question it#and its even wilder because i'll have completed my bachelors and also grad school (if I go that route) before my youngest brother--#--graduates high school. and my parents will be senior citizens. and I hope retired#so i'm probably gonna end up paying for his uni???????????#that's honestly so crazy tho#nadia's uni dream#nadia has a life#a really really scary one what the fuck

Started to feel a little frantic this afternoon/evening as I tried to juggle schoolwork, making supper, getting supper to the kid at the high school in play rehearsal until 9:30 (they are in the week leading up to the performances, or as the kids call it, Hell Week), making sure the other kid is all set for her new swim lessons, get the costume measurements for dance to the studio before the deadline ...
I forced myself to sit down after sending out the scan for the costume measurements. I poured myself a small glass of white wine and I read a little bit in my just-for-fun book (Enter a Murderer by Ngaio Marsh, and yes, murder mysteries are how I relax), and after about 10 minutes I was able to wrap up my schoolwork for the evening and now I'm heading to finish supper. I delivered food to the kid at school. The swimming kid should be finished with her lesson by now and she and her dad will be home soon to tell me about it. All will be well. The world did not fall apart when I rested for a few moments.
I need to remind myself of that frequently.
#decided this semester that trying to be a student while my kids are in high school AND I'm working#means I'm missing out on a lot of the few years we have left with them#and since I don't NEED a degree at this moment in order to work#I switched programs and am graduating with an associates degree in liberal studies in december#rather than a bachelors degree in ils sometime in the next few years#I am so relieved#and keep reminding myself I just need to get through this semester and then I can breathe#but in the meantime#there's a lot of near-hyperventilating going on#especially this week#all shall be well#I know julian's words were for a larger vision#but they apply to the small stuff as well#all manner of thing shall be well

How to Choose the Right Specialization in a Business Administration Graduate Program
Embarking on a graduate program in business administration is a significant step towards shaping your career. As you explore the various specializations available, it's crucial to choose one that aligns with your career goals, interests, and strengths. With numerous options available, finding the right fit can be overwhelming. Here’s a comprehensive guide to help you make an informed decision.
1. Reflect on Your Career Goals
Before diving into the specifics of each specialization, take a step back and assess your long-term career goals. Consider the following questions:
What industries or sectors are you interested in? If you’re passionate about technology, a specialization in Information Systems might be a good fit. If you're drawn to financial markets, Finance could be the way to go.
What role do you see yourself in? Are you interested in leadership and management, or do you prefer analytical and data-driven roles?
What are your career aspirations? Whether you aim to start your own business or climb the corporate ladder, your specialization should support these ambitions.
2. Understand Each Specialization
Familiarize yourself with the various specializations offered in your business administration graduate program. Here’s a quick overview of some common ones:
Finance: Focuses on financial analysis, investment strategies, and managing financial risks. Ideal for those interested in banking, investment, and corporate finance.
Marketing: Covers market research, consumer behavior, and strategic marketing. Perfect for those aiming to work in brand management, advertising, or sales.
Operations Management: Emphasizes supply chain management, logistics, and process improvement. Suitable for those interested in optimizing business processes and efficiency.
Human Resources: Deals with recruitment, employee relations, and organizational development. Best for those interested in shaping company culture and managing talent.
Entrepreneurship: Focuses on starting and managing new ventures. Ideal for those who aspire to launch their own businesses or work in startup environments.
International Business: Explores global trade, cross-cultural management, and international markets. Great for those interested in working with multinational companies or in global roles.
3. Assess Your Strengths and Interests
Evaluate your skills and interests to find a specialization that complements them. For example:
Analytical Skills: If you excel in data analysis and problem-solving, Finance or Business Analytics might be a good match.
Creative Skills: If you’re more inclined towards creativity and strategic thinking, Marketing or Entrepreneurship could be suitable.
Leadership Skills: If you have a knack for leadership and team management, Operations Management or Human Resources might be the right choice.
4. Research Industry Trends
Stay updated on industry trends and job market demands. Some fields may have higher growth potential or evolving needs:
Technology and Data: Fields like Business Analytics and Information Systems are increasingly relevant as businesses leverage data and technology.
Sustainability and Ethics: Specializations that focus on corporate social responsibility or sustainability are gaining importance.
5. Seek Advice and Network
Reach out to professionals in your desired field or specialization. Networking can provide valuable insights into:
Real-world applications: Understanding how different specializations play out in the real world can help you make a more informed choice.
Job prospects: Gain insight into job opportunities and career paths from those currently working in your area of interest.
6. Consider Program Offerings
Different programs may have varying strengths in particular specializations. Look into:
Curriculum: Review the courses and faculty expertise in each specialization.
Capstone Projects and Internships: Check if the program offers practical experiences relevant to your chosen field.
7. Evaluate the Program’s Flexibility
Some programs offer flexibility in combining specializations or elective courses. Consider whether:
Dual Specializations: You can tailor your education to encompass more than one area of interest.
Electives: There are opportunities to explore different fields before committing fully to a specialization.
8. Reflect on Financial Considerations
Understand the financial implications of your specialization choice. Some fields may have higher earning potential or job security, which can influence your decision.
Conclusion
Choosing the right specialization in a business administration graduate program is a crucial decision that will shape your career trajectory. By reflecting on your goals, understanding each specialization, assessing your strengths, and seeking advice, you can make a well-informed choice that aligns with your personal and professional aspirations. Remember, the best specialization is one that not only leverages your skills and interests but also positions you for success in your desired career path.

I think I can push through and finish my paper today unless my brain completely gives out, which should make me excited but considering I'd rather throw myself in front of a car...
#as horrible as I feel about not having this paper finished#once it is finished I go into no-mans-land for real since I won't be in my bachelor's program anymore#I don't know what I'm doing for graduate school#and I don't have a job I can live off of#sooo#the college saga continues

Im thinking about how Jon Kent does not respect Batman when he grows up and will not put up with any of Bruce's bullshit regarding Damian. This is very true in the comics. (Nightwing is his favourite and his mentor. The boy lives and breathes, standing on business with Batman.)
When Jon and Damian get older (no aged up Jon so we can see teenage rebellion), he becomes Bruce's worst nightmare.
He brings Damian home late and sneaks through his sons window to just sleep beside him. (They are not subtle about their crushes at all, but they have time to delevop before they start to date) When Bruce upsets Damian, Jon will just show up to glare at him while cuddling and comforting his son on his couch.
If Bruce really screws up, Jon just takes Damian away to the Kent house or on an adventure to get his mind off it. If Jon catches Damian and Bruce arguing, you better believe Jon is arguing now, too.
Jon is always one bad word about his best friend away from squaring the fuck up.
When Damian decides he doesn't want to be Robin anymore and instead a doctor and Bruce doesn't get his head out of his ass fast enough. Jon takes over. He and Damian organise for Damian to finish school years early, and he encourages Damian through the MCATS.
And guess where has an incredible medical program? Willing to take this 16 year old prodigy? That's right, Metropolis University.
Clark and Lois are thrilled to foster Damian while he does his degrees. (They are so proud of how much he's grown. They support him as much as possible. See, Bruce, it's not that hard!!) Jon is there at every graduation, ceremony, and crisis.
When Damian does graduate from med school and Jon his Bachelors degree, Jon and Damian start dating and quickly figure out that this is what they want for the rest of their lives.
Jon gets Damian to elope with him. They do not tell Bruce, and Batman only finds out when Jon changes his league paperwork. (Clark, Lois, and Dick were there, but Bruce had upset all of them recently, so they felt no need to tell him.)
Jon Kent then becomes the in-law from hell. Bruce never knows peace. Jon is so protective and steps in any time Bruce messes up with any of his children because now the bat family is Jons family, too.
Jon Kent doesn't take any shit when it comes to his family, especially from Batman.
This was inspired by the amazing @ghostly-bat and her text post about Jon wanting them to move to Japan.
