I said I was going to write some thoughts down about that interview from last night, so here we go, for my followers only, not gonna tag it Emmerdale.

I'll start here simply to get it out of my system that I can't agree with this statement. It would have been if he had given Nate some painkillers after he asked for it, and then ended up having an allergic reaction to them.

I don't know what was in that syringe, what it was supposed to do for the "patient", why he gave it in the neck or why a former medic working as a farm hand even had the stuff... But I know he administered it intentionally while saying really creepy shit. So yeah, not intent to kill, but intent to harm. Which brings me to the next part.

He didn't stop after Nate's "accidental" death did he, he kept intentionally inflicting harm on people. To make himself look and feel good. No amount of saying sorry to someone in his sleep will convince me he feels genuinely bad about Nate when he keeps on doing it... (And I have to laugh at the article calling it a murder, despite the earlier statement...)

Then we move on to speculating if he will be "forced" to kill again. Forced by his desire to 'hurt and save' or forced to cover up his previous acts, just like our Lachlan had to do? (RIP Gerry 😔)

When I read this, my first thought was coma guy. I think he could be one of those pieces that he has a plan for in the back of his mind. I have a feeling Anthony's body is another one. He holds all the cards there, and he knows it. Leverage?

This was the most interesting part for me. His mother passed away last year and he told Victoria he had a stepdad growing up that cared about him, so no need to feel sorry for him missing out on the great Jack Sugden.

I can't help but see my theory in this statement; that he resents/envies the family Robert had in the village, both growing up and later with Aaron.

It fits perfectly with his outburst about how Robert only had himself to blame for losing everything that John now has... 👀

Also, if Aaron is the love of his life, what exactly is Aidan these days?

And finally. The backstory that's been created from day one is so deep. So definitely not a change in direction because of fan complaints or lack of popularity. Not that I ever thought that.

I can't help but hope that within that backstory is the very reason they made him a Sugden in the first place and that it really is significant after all... "So deep" has to mean more than whatever happened in the army, you'd think.

The worst thing is I honestly would have LOVED a new Sugden or ten in the village, there's so much they could do with that. But making this one (I refuse to say his name) gay and immediately sleep with Aaron is the worst/laziest/most boring route they could have taken.

Literally anything else would have been amazing! But he's not even here long term is he? So what's the point??!?

Yeah same here. When they first announced they were bringing in a new Sugden I was excited! I thought it would be one of Vic's cousins from down south she'd mentioned once or twice and that they'd maybe bring a partner and a couple of kids with them too... but no.

they had to go with fauxbert.

if they wanted Aaron to just get some dick they could have had him hook up with Mack (I've read some fics that are 🔥🔥🔥) or even Ethan (instead of killing him off) instead of bringing in a randomer and pretending he's not JUST there to be a love interest for Aaron and that they wanted to reunite robron but Ryan won't come back so they had to go for this robert clone nonsense.

(just fyi for tagging/blacklisting purposes, i'm going to tag posts about John Sugden/this storyline as fauxbert from now on. I'm not going to use his actual name when he's just a Robert clone)

Just wanted to add some further thoughts...

First, I do realise that the similar camera shots aren't 'created' by John, those are clearly for our benefit, so to speak. Something for us to pick up on. The Emmerdale staff don't know these moments by heart the way we do, I suspect. Half of the people involved in writing/filming were probably not even working at Emmerdale during the Robron era.

Meaning they'd have to look through old Robron stuff to find ones they find appropriate to 'copy', and that goes for the various locations as well. Not sure that's something they would actually take the time to do just to try and sell this couple... because they are clearly not even trying to do that. I still hope think they're clues 🤷‍♀️

Second, the tags. I don't agree with throwing them in the woods, btw. Think of the animals, Fauxbert 😆

Could he have thrown them away to sway Aaron a bit with his 'grand gesture' to get the ily, and also to get rid of some evidence at the same time? No risk of anyone else finding the tags now and questioning why he has a dead man's tags that would really be with the next of kin...

Why not just put the tags away in a box somewhere, let the gesture be to stop carrying them around? Why toss them away in front of Aaron? (Who I'm certain still has a thing or two of Robert's tucked away somewhere in a box, because we all know Aaron is sentimental.)

Third, why are are we back to the 'saying ily so hard for Aaron' thing? He said it on Robert's wedding day to Chrissie. He said it confidently several times in ssw 2016. He said it freely and easily during Robron's official marriage. He said it to Ben fgs. I'll bet he said it to his off screen bf too 🤷‍♀️

So in my mind, John planned this trip to the woods, chose a moment to 'bare his soul' and expected an ily in return, because he knows that's what happened between Robert and Aaron in 2016 🤷‍♀️

Sorry, I'm still holding on to my Fauxbert theory and I'm not letting go 😁
