Ee'ket, the matriarch of Twukiio, a vast jungle faction allied with Iot. She is the youngest matriarch to rule and carries a rare genetic mutation where she lacks any of her markings, leaving only her frill with color. A rare and attractive trait as it left an individual with many colorful options to add to their body. Despite her most sought after beauty, Ee'ket avoided suitors and never provided heirs. She developed a phobia of egg-laying after her mother had passed from being egg-bound. She would often try to distract this issue with lavish parties, which slowly brought disdain and impatience from the citizens of Twukiio, and her immediate family (her grandmother)

When you write a 73k Voyager story and people start removing their kuddos, comments, and bookmarks like they're purging a warp core breach...

You know you’ve touched a nerve when people aren’t just quietly stepping away from your fic, they’re actively reverse-engaging. We’re talking un-Kuddoing, unbookmarking, and maybe whispering, “Computer, erase all evidence I was ever here.”

Look, I get it. I brought back Kashyk, a character with a complicated past, and gave him an arc. And yes, I even let him kiss Janeway. If you made it 73,856 words into this chaos and that’s your line in the sand, I understand. Not everyone’s here for the redemption of a character like him, and that’s okay.

What’s not okay? Sending hate DMs over a fictional character. I appreciate the passion, but not the cruelty. If you didn’t like the choice, you’re always free to click away.

Five minutes before I go back to work

It was really weird going from astronaut deployed to Mars to save a colonist back to high school student who forgot to hand in an assignment before he left.

He groaned as he stared at the email from Ms Kent. She was ever so understanding - it hadn’t been the first time, but Alan hated it anyway.

He was better than that.

Poking at his files he found the stray assignment and waved it off to his teacher.

He would be so glad to graduate.

He should have graduated a few years back - he had the knowledge and the skill set, but interruptions from Dad’s disappearance to Gordy’s accident to astronaut training and eventually, like today, rescues that needing attention no matter what was due.

Let’s just say that he must be one of the most unreliable students out there.

But Ms Kent was forever understanding. She claimed he was a special student and as long as he continued to grade well, she was willing to work around his sometimes insane schedule.

How many students had teachers like that?

How many students flew rockets?

It still sucked to have to apologise again.

Alan was a bit of a perfectionist at times - it came with the geniusness - and this was far from perfect.
