Bailey the Caretaker

My info sheet on Bailey as potential LI (and some lore about my version of him).

I imagine Bailey likes submissiveness, but more so specifically to him - he doesn’t like seeing PC being pushed around by other people, and prefers that they can watch themselves even without his help.

He is somewhat relieved and glad when PC escapes the underground brothel, he wants them to be able to survive and endure anything this town could put them through. In his eyes enabling the evil happening to them also means controlling it - instead of PC getting kidnapped or held hostage by random strangers, he sells them off to people/organizations he knows and is able to demand them back/hear back from them.

The more submissive the PC is the more I believe Bailey sees them as still a child, and he won’t be interested in them during that time. Only when they show they can fight and survive, and prove they are capable of watching themself he acknowledges them as an actual person (which doesn’t mean he acknowledges their autonomy though.) It just means he doesn’t see them as a bland NPC anymore and more as something worthy of closer attention.

[The “Can you still remember your first name” is my interpretation of Bailey “growing into” his family name. Bailey is the last name of the orphanage owner (his family name), and while he hated the association as a child due to his parents torment, he learned it’s easier to live as “Bailey” than it was to live as himself. By now he’s been Bailey for so long, he doesn’t even remember his first name, or who he really used to be before he became what he is today.]

Bailey’s Apartment, Woodside Queens.

1 Bathroom Studio apartment. Not seen in photo is a desk for her laptop and a lot of shelving space dedicated to her manuscripts and writing journals. There is a full kitchen as well, galley style.

idk why but i always have the headcanon of bailey doing things SO indirectly nice for PC. like as subtle as humanly possible because god forbid he has feelings. PC likes a dress in a store window? it somehow ends up in a thrift store for half the price for the PC to find. (because bailey probably threatened the store worker or something)

Bailey will literally never admit to doing anything nice or even approving of what PC does so he doesn't lose face and he'd be caught dead before showing any form of affection to them - he hides his care behind the facade of "owing" them as his property, so of course he has to take care of it to some extent - can't have PC locked away forever in the asylum, or damaged by Remy's thugs, or lost in the underground brothel out of his reach (only for business reasons ofc). He doesn't gift or praise PC, or is even remotely nice to them, but he drives them home when he wins them at poker, he gets them from the hospital the first few times, and if confronted with Quinn, he tells PC not to drink or eat anything he'll hand them. To avoid damaging the merchandise too much of course, but maybe somewhere in a very, very repressed and abyssal corner of whatever black hole he has as a heart, he does care for them. But admitting that would mean he'd lose control over the carefully picked facade of indifference and heartlessness he established for himself. So he doesn't buy that dress PC keeps ogling and talking to their friends about, but if it ends in the donation pile of clothes the town has for the orphans? Whatever. Just a coincidence, just like the coincidence that PC happened to be the first to look into the box.

Can’t stop thinking about the q&a I vaguely remember where Vrel said Bailey would teach PC how to kiss now imagine him taking matters into his own hands on teaching PC how to properly kiss/pleasure people because if they’re good in bed that earns him more money and ofc he’s only doing it for that and not because he’d enjoy corrupting PC or have a pretense to touch them. They’re his property after all and he has every damn right to do with them as he pleases, who’s allowed to judge him for wanting to use what he owns.

Bailey HC

Random hc but I believe Bailey’s family has owned the orphanage and the abuse they’ve suffered comes from his parents (the owners of it back then).

There are hints to the Bailey Mines so I can imagine they’ve sent the orphan kids to work in there, they sold them off with no regards and while Bailey was an asshole in their character, they used to be a normal “innocent” kid as well in the beginning.

I believe Bailey was heavily abused by their own parents, but because of the name association also by other orphan kids - in their eyes, they were part of the family, an easy outlet for those angry at their parents so Bailey was antagonized by everyone and everything, with Eden being the only “friend” they truly had at the time. It forced them to become absolutely independent from everyone, no friends, no family they could turn to for help, no police to support no teachers to protect and Bailey saw the town for what it is - The “good” people were enablers at best, the worst were abusers and assaulters themselves.

They grew into the family name “Bailey”, reclaiming the power by becoming what they hate, and to this day still hate the town and every family that enabled the evil happening to them, and because of that believes the only way to survive is to become like them - hardened by the abuse and trauma to the point it doesn’t matter anymore.

The lotus symbolizes rebirth, but to be reborn you have to die first.

I know realistically Bailey is probably supposed to be your average emotionless slutty waist broad shoulder type of villain with short hair but I like my men with STRONG FAT and UNREGULATED EMOTIONS he thinks don’t exist because he REPRESSES them

This guy has a restraining order on any emotion he might feel, they gotta stay away from him by at least a hundred feet per court order if he feels even one little thing the carefully picked facade of indifference and annoyance is gonna fold in on itself like a CARD HOUSE and that’s why he’s such a control freak, he can’t risk slipping in ANY WAY and unfortunately PC has the infuriating habit of trying to get under his skin like a PARASITE

A few days ago, I saw ur info sheet for Bailey as a LI again, and I was curious. How do u think would start a "romance" with Bailey being a LI? How would his relationship with PC differ from the rest of the orphans? Would it be similar to Avery's or a more conventional "romance" like the rest of LI? How might that relationship develop in long term? I'm thinking more generally of how it would work in game, but u can give ur version of In the Aftermath Bailey and One More Time Bailey if u prefer!!

Obv in the context of the game, Bailey's "romance" would still need to hold that element of him demanding weekly payments from you, or something else that'd give PC a reason to continue obv since he is the driving force of why you even play the game (to earn his cash). I think a possibility to have Bailey as a LI would seem similar to Avery, a purely transactional exchange without obvious romantic intentions - A high enough love/trust stat from Bailey that'd unlock meeting him at random moments in town. For example meeting him in the park while he does deals, if PC has high enough awareness/trust and love stat that instead of running away or being shooed away, they could listen in on what's happening seemingly without Bailey noticing but having a hint that Bailey knows they're there like a glance in their direction - the realization that he's actively letting them know what's happening, maybe letting PC listen in to potential kidnappings so they can avoid them. "You feel as if you should avoid helping the next person asking you to move something into their van."

In that context I think Bailey as LI would be almost a balance to set the game into an "easier" mode regarding encounters, similar to how he tips PC off not to drink or eat anything Quinn hands you - he lets PC know more about the dangers of town, without outright protecting them as to save face. He'll leave a document on his desk when PC tells him that someone intrudes (to get data off of his computer) knowing they'll snoop and see information that could help them avoid dangerous situations. I think long-term Bailey would still be unrelentingly demanding money so PC can proof they can watch themselves and survive the town as well as his treatment, but soften his behavior privately without outright showing it and enabling lewd encounters, like staying the night after the poker event at Bailey's place or even having a sex scene in his car at the docks when PC scares off the thugs trying to break in. I don't think for a LI Bailey would have to change extremely, just become a little less subtle about his double standards with PC, instead of slapping them for screaming in the bath, he just stares at them and tells them off, Bailey can get you out of the asylum under the pretense that he wants you free and avaible to earn his money, you can happen to meet him at Briar's brothel as client in secret and all that. His LI route would work more as a very well-kept secret between the two of them since they'd both realize as soon as things would go public, it'd change things for the worse - backlash for PC because she'd get hated by other orphans and become a massive target, and Bailey risking them becoming a weakpoint against ppl that want him gone.
