David's stomach made it not worth bringing him-- especially since he'd insist on doing all the driving. So I asked that he stay in town and check in on my mother, making sure she takes her meds 3x per day. Adrianne and I arrived in Houston at about 4:30. I sent her up to the MDA pharmacy while I went grocery shopping. Then we picked up a graduation gift for my nephew. This hotel is next door to the one we were in 2 weeks ago. The rooms are suites and they actually have an elevator. I don't feel like I have to use disinfectant wipes all over but I did anyway. The price for the amenities is pretty good as they have a sweet medical rate and a shuttle. Tomorrow I give the vampires a blood sample before I see the eye doctor and the bone marrow aspiration peeps. Finally I see the stem cell doc. The evening is ours. Depending on how my booty feels after the aspiration we may check out one of the restaurants we've wanted to try. 1. Yesterday's day off. Spent it chillaxin', visiting Agatha and looking at more medical needs apartments. We'll need about 3 more weeks after our 3 months is up at Hospitality Apartments. 2. Back to the ATC today. The doctors told me I would be losing my newly grown peach fuzz. I have been finding black hairs on my pillow and in the sink after I wash my face and head. Now the white ones are coming out more. Far more white than I had before. All of them look so straight on my head-- like I have an Army buzz cut-- but they have a loose curl when they fall out. Perhaps the next new growth could be a bit curlier? I hope! Wish the Appearances beauty salon could come down here and give me a shave because this is messy. Not as devastating as losing 20+ years of locks but messy. First 'Super Chemo' Day No reactions. I ate ice for four hours to to help ward off/reduce mouth sores. My Hunnee stayed all day. We even took a walk around Floor 17 in our germ masks and yellow germ robes. He has to wear this inside my room and I have to wear them when I leave the room. I have to take Tricia my electronic chemo Christmas tree wherever I go. She has "seen things" in the bathroom! I don't know if you'd be surprised or not to know this. I haven't asked my sister if she gets this too. But I have had all types of advice from folks not on my med team on what I should do to be cured or feel better. I suppose it's some folks' way of showing concern or caring-- and in the case of men friends in one's life, it's a man thing to want to solve our problems and be in control of what ails us. I understand that. I take it as that-- statements of love from people who care about me. It's not true of MOST people But there are those special few with special remedies. Not the ones with common sense "rest when you are tired" info and "listen to your body" caring statements. The ones who know more than my oncologists and have new info they don't share in medical circles But I can read all about it in the 'Enquirer.' It took some doing but I got us--#JermainesMom and me -- to church for #ResurrectionSunday . So glad to be able to attend again among family who have been praying ceaselessly for me, even though I have to wear a germ mask and do without hugs and kisses.
