Multiamory March Day 13: The poly taking care of a child or pet

“Iris asleep?” Cisco whispered, keeping his voice light. Iris had been napping a lot recently.

“Yeah. Baby kept her up all night.” Barry turned his head to look at Cisco. He had started to let his facial hair grow out, and all three of his partners couldn’t get enough of it, especially Kamilla.

remember how you asked me for Barriscowest recently for the fic you wished for?

this doesn't have anything with what you did pitch at that moment but i might have something for you? that i may or may not write one day, i honestly have no idea and can't promise anything except a small synopsis, random ideas.

imagine if in the timeline Barry reset after Flashpoint, well, before he did reset it, in everything that happened and that he doesn't know about or doesn't remember. imagine if there, when he and Iris decided to give dating a shot, it lead to them going out for drinks after Barry was brought back with his powers.

and they felt such a connection to Cisco, since he's the one who accessed the speed force and everything that they end up inviting him and it's really just to hand out, really really. but then they're about to go their separate ways and they're laughing and goofing around a bit, giving themselves time to be idiots and forget responsibilities, and anyway, Iris wants to kiss Barry on the cheek but he turns his head and they kiss for real and everyone kinda laughs.

only then Cisco and Iris go to reenact that and they both intend to stop just before they kiss only they don't. and then Barry and Cisco kiss and then they don't know how or why but they don't really stop. at all.

it happens and still Barry and Iris want to try that thing between them and everything was so good but is so new as well so they keep it as a one time thing. Barry and Iris tell each other they can't stop thinking about it though but then Dante dies, and there's Iris taken in her fight with her dad that might escalate because of everything happening, Zoom kidnapping Joe and all the mess they get in.

cut to the other Barry, our Barry, Flashpoint Barry telling them all about Flashpoint and having no idea about any of that. Iris urges him to talk to Cisco, to patch things up with him because she is still in that stage where, of course she can't stop thinking about Barry but she can't stop thinking about Cisco as well.

which is when our Barry learns about what happened, how his first time with Iris was also his first time with Cisco, how it was so good and so fun, so incredible, he, himself, wanted to try polyamory with them both and he ruined that, and now he doesn't know, he hasn't lived it and he's still miserable that Cisco won't talk to him and it's a lot.

so Barry goes to talk to Cisco in his workshop, like he really does, and they argue, or Cisco gets mad at him about Flashpoint, and Dante, and Barry wants to plead with him, he wants to try so he catches his arm. there are so many emotions, Cisco is not in control of his powers in that specific instant so he vibes and takes Barry into the vibe with him, to that moment where they all first kissed and Barry gets to see it for himself and. well. and.

and this is getting very long and i don't know, i have no idea past that point but this is where my brain went. does it make sense? it's a huge mess and i don't want it to sound romcom-y with misunderstandings and everything, it's not the point at all, it's just something i guess. so very random as always!

Harry for sure! I like HR, I think he's sweet, but Harry's the best Wells to me. I love the "jerk with a heart of gold" trope very much

NOOOO that is evil 😭 they're both so "almost-canon", and I love them both for it! If I had to choose...maybe Barriscowest, but only by a slim margin lol these two ships are tied as my favorite OT3s. The edge Barriscowest has is really just that they're prominent in more seasons than Westhallen, otherwise this would be an even harder decision (and it's already pretty hard 😅).

Though I will say that if Westhallen had become canon...I would've enjoyed s1 way more—it's the best season of the show, and I do enjoy it, but I also still have issues with it relating to a) the secrecy from Iris and b) the love triangle. Making Westhallen canon would've fixed b and probably gone a long way towards fixing a too (if only because Eddie would be much pushier about Barry looping Iris in if they were all a throuple)

AHAHA I AM SO NORMAL ABOUT THEM —IGNORE THE CAPS LOCK— SO SO NORMAL I PROMISE. You combine two of my favorite ships (Westallen and Barrisco) and what you get is me being So Incredibly Normal about them. K joking over, I’m obsessed with them. And I’ve mentioned this before but you’re the one that got me into them through “Barry Allen Is(n’t) Dead” so I’m glad you asked for them :D! I just have so so many blorbo feelings about them. And there’s SO much potential with them. I’ve had lots of fun writing them in my Star Wars AU, and ngl I keep getting the urge to add this ship to like All of my wips ( cept Trophy, for obvious reasons :< )

MUCH potential here. Their banter was so fun and I’m completely on board with this ship, even if I’ve admittedly not read that much of it.

Hmmm, so for "a very Married Couple have mutual crush" there are quite a few ways I could go about it

Iris and Eddie meet Barry and are instantly smitten, but aren't ready to say anything to him yet so when he catches them talking about him being hot, they pass it off as talking about the Flash and Barry's just dying inside because he's head over heels for both of them and they think he's sexy in his Flash suit but don't know it's him...

But then there's also Barry & Iris falling over themselves to cheer Cisco up post Cindy break up because they just like him so much but don't know how to spit it out and Cisco is slowly picking up on the clues...

Barry and Iris going to Ralph for a noir themed AU, Ralph's PoV as he slowly falls for the hot couple thinking they don't want him but it turns out all their flirting is indeed sincere and not just him exaggerating things in his head

Cisco and Kamilla run into Lisa and start making up excuses to spend time with her - bewildered aro finds herself in a QPR with a practically married couple and enjoying it

Khione helps Timeless!Wells extend his timelessness to Tess and what starts as gratefulness between demi-god-like-beings turns into something more permanent as Tess and Harrison both come to realize they want Khione with them too. (Khione - I don't understand romance but I certainly understand partnering. Partnering is very, very nice.)

Barry and Iris being there for Caitlin when Frost goes to jail slowly becomes something else as they realize they're both in love with Caitlin too...

I'll have to see if any of these work for other prompts first before committing to one for this prompt.

It's this one! Spies AU was a prompt for the 2016 Flashvibe Week so there's a couple in this collection and they're all great, but this one is probably my favourite and I have read it I don't know how many times.

Oooh tell me more about your Westhallen feelings (with Singhaway if you like) 👀

okay SO I had a few ideas bouncing around but one of them was the noir Iris AU where Iris and Barry are already a thing but nobody knows who the Flash is kinda like in the comics, so noir investigative reporter Iris West-Allen ropes in detective Eddie Thawne to help her investigate the Flash and find out who he is

another was basically Earth-2 but make it Westhallen with a side of Singhaway (that one may have to be two fics lest I focus all my attention on one pairing lol)

the third one I'm suuuuper invested in right now tho is kind of just me expanding on the evil Barriscowest corrupting hero Eddie (so not JUST Westhallen) with an added Singhaway sideplot where Hartley helps Eddie out as basically his Cisco <3333

I ship Barrisco and Westallen separately, but I prefer for Irisco to be kept platonic. Barriscowest is a big time power trio for sure, but I don't ship all three of them romantic-stylez at the same time. I do love finding parallels in their relationships, though. 💖

for the AU 5+ headcanons ask, is it okay to ask for Barriscowest? any AU, canon divergence version but Barriscowest?

It’s absolutely okay! Here’s one that popped into my head (there’s probably a fic or two out there with this concept, but I haven’t read one, so this is entirely from my own imagination):

Iris dates Cisco instead of Eddie during the coma. When Barry wakes up, he’s envious of them at first, and tries to dislike Cisco, but…he’s such a sweet guy and lovable too. Barry finds himself falling head over heels, but…Cisco’s dating Iris. His best friend. Who he’s also in love with. This is a problem

Cisco, for his part, is also head over heels but feels really awkward about it because he does genuinely love Iris. Still, he invites Barry over for movie nights, trying to convince himself it’s all just platonic

I should mention that due to dating Cisco and being Barry’s best friend, Iris is brought into the loop sooner. Not sure about the details of that, but like…her being out of the loop as long as canon isn’t totally plausible with the addition of her dating Cisco

Iris clocks the feelings growing between them, as does literally everyone else. Caitlin kind of frowns about it—she’s come to like Iris, and Iris doesn’t deserve her boyfriend being in love with someone else. Iris, though…she for some reason can’t find it in herself to be jealous. Especially when she sits in on some of their movie nights…she’s suddenly struck by the realization that right here, with the two of them next to her, all of them cuddled together on the couch…she’s the happiest she’s ever been

She doesn’t say anything though, so all of them are kinda pining and also guilty about it. Iris is more nervous than guilty—what if they think it’s weird? What if they laugh in her face and choose each other over her? Deep down she knows it’s ridiculous—Cisco would never break her heart in such a cruel way, and she and Barry are important to each other no matter what their relationship is—but…she can’t shake the fear anyway

Then the tidal wave happens. No waterfront kiss because we still don’t condone cheating in this house, but Cisco dies, and Barry and Iris are shattered—yeah, in this AU, they find that out. All thoughts of confession die on Iris’s tongue, and both of them are in grief—Iris hugs him tightly and says, “run, Barry, run”

Barry time travels. Cisco gets kidnapped. He saves Cisco. And then…he tells them both what happened, Cisco confesses about his dreams…and somehow, this leads into Iris confessing her feelings to them both. Both of them are shocked and happy and also the three of them all feel a little silly for all the dancing-around they’ve done the past few months. So they all agree to try dating each other and it’s…nice

I’m not totally sure how the rest of the season would proceed 😅 but with Iris so firmly on the Team, and Barriscowest such a well-oiled trio, I can’t imagine it would go any way except smoothly.
