I read on another blog that Antonia is basically blackmailing them and has control over their life and career choices? Does that feel as insane to read as it does to type? How does it end?! The police arrest Luke for whatever horrible thing he did and Nicola as an accessory? Any backlash they would have received if they’d come out would have been quickly forgiven so I guess the theory makes sense and Luke will be eventually exposed for taking items from set or dinging someone’s car and driving away. This is the kind of theory that makes shippers look 🤪

no literally like star wars demonstrates that there are so many ways to use the force outside of the Jedi/Sith dichotomy but the Jedi are also like the ones who gained the most power and prominence throughout most of galactic history (iirc? I don’t know a lot of old republic canon). so like there is clearly something very effective in the way they build and maintain institutional and political power and that is almost certainly tied to the lack of choice that initiates are given when joining the Order. like you systematise recruitment by making it mandatory. it’s like a specialised state-sanctioned version of standardised education. which is coooooool it’s cool I love that shit so much like the debate about them being evil or not is so boring like idc it’s cool that there is this ancient order of force users who basically monopolised the way the force is used in most of the galaxy and this monopoly also led to their downfall when they became a formal military organ of the republic. that’s sooo fucking sick

Star Wars needs more silliness... because the jokes are good enough.

Once again, if you don't know, I'm what Lily would refer to as a Star Wars weeb. I live breath and shit Star Wars. You got it good. Let's dig in.

Not even a minute in before Lily starts complaining about how Star Wars is diving deeper into the lore of how the galaxy works. Even though she says she likes Star Wars, I never understood people who say they like something but don't want to know more about said thing.

She brings up that all the characters in the new Star Wars are basically the same character from older movies, which is kinda true, but that's also taking away the characters' motivation and story line she's uses Rey as an example saying "what if Anakin was a girl and a big dork." Which is kinda cute but completely ignores the fact that Rey and Anakin are nothing alike.

Now, I do agree with how Rey is a pretty refreshing character (and her video was made before TROS), but she's not as refreshing as she thinks Rey is. She even hit us with the "she's not like other girls," saying, "There is no mystery behind her origins. She wasn't linked to any characters of the past movie/books. She's just a force sensitive person who happened to get caught up in the war by circumstances." But then goes onto saying that no one liked that and that everyone wanted another, Luke. I am your father (which she called stupid)

She goes on a tangent about her complaints about TROS, which is valid. The last Star Wars movie was a big disappointment to anyone who liked the sequel. (I didn't like the sequels because I thought Finn would have made a better main character and the idea of a fascist soldier who was born into the army, learning that he was on the wrong side and worked to make up for his sins more interesting, also for what they did to Luke, Leia, Han, and everyone else from the original.)

After that, she brings up that everyone called Rey a Mary Sue, which is also dumb. She brings up the fact that Rey's force sensitive and uses Luke, Anakin, and Revan as examples of being overpowered, saying Luke had perfect had and Anakin had the reflexes of a god (idk much about Revahn so I'm skipping him) then mocks the people who cried over Rey not having any lightsaber training. But Luke and Anakin already had training in their own way. In the novelization of a new hope and even in the movie, it's stated that Luke would use wamp rats for target practice. Anakin was a slave who was bullied and probably beaten a lot, so he had to train himself to react faster. Anyone who's even been in a situation where you can't fight back will know that dodging and getting fast reflexes will help make sure you don't get hurt. Now, she uses her examples to explain that Rey would be able to beat Kylo in a fight because he's just a wimp. The nephew of Luke, who has been trained in the ways of the force since he was a child, is labeled as wimp. Technically speaking by Lily’s own logic, Kylo would have killed Rey in their first fight.

Okay, for those of you who care, I kinda write the blog post while watching the video, so I'm not even halfway done with this bullshit and I've already written 5 paragraphs of her video and she has yet to bring up why star wars needs more silliness... on to 6.

She then states that despite all her complaints about the movies (because she doesn't want to sound like a naiz), she really loves Rey and how... (this pissed me the fuck off) it brought life into Luke, Han, and Leia saying they were dull as crap. BITCH! I fucking love the original gang (they were my bi awakening) and when I heard they were bringing back the characters for the sequels I was very hesitant and I was right to be. The sequels did the gang so dirty, making Luke (the one who wanted to save his father, the man that chopped off his hand and killed millions of people and Jedi because he still had faith that his father was in there.) A mad man who tried to kill nephew because he had a scary dream of going to the dark side. They made Han (a badass who is a loving father and husband) a fucking deadbeat who lives in his van with his best friend. And they didn’t do shit for Leia she's not her sassy self or anything. She's just there for fan service.

She gets to her main problem with Star Wars saying, "They just rehash the same plot but with different seasoning. They all follow the exact same story: plucky underdog, every man rebels fighting against the evil empire." But the thing is that while sure Star Wars is just the same story over and over, it's the characters that I think is what makes it feel like it's something new. Seeing how different characters react to certain things. Luke wanted to be more than a farmer with fate, helping him become one of the strongest Jedi. Ezra only focused on keeping himself alive and not caring about anyone else to then becoming a strong leader with willing to risk his life for others. You aren't watching the same story with the copy and paste characters. You are seeing characters in the same situation dealing with it differently.

At the end of the video, she talks about her shity Star Wars fanfic and how that's how she would have written the sequels, which now that I realize what she had in mind with writing it explains why it's so fucking boring. why in the only 3 chapters I had read, nothing had happened. Thank god no one with a brain would ever leave her in charge of anything.

And of course, she can't make a video without insulting people for having a different definition of fun than her. Lily, for most people in the Star Wars exploring the lore and wondering how the rebels got the death star plans is fun for them, and most of us want to branch out from the force users to see how people in the galaxy deal with the empire. You know world building something Lily isn't good at.

Okay, this video really hurt to watch, and I completely hated it, and she didn't even explain why Star Wars needs more silliness she's just complaining about Star Wars even though she claims to love it.

I think I'm picking up what you're throwing down. Her friends/family comment cringe to make them seem closer, but we've yet to see him in any Filmandfrendz posts (watch that change now lol). They were all in the Hamptons for the Fourth but based on the heaps of content he didn't come party with them. The notion of her being a kind girlfriend in a good relationship who's nothing but supportive is undercut by Jack not paying her dues or jacket fees and almost exclusively attends weekend games his parents go to. Her "just being private" is questionable after she tried to go to media in a move so blatant fucking Deux Moi heard and discussed it. The current argument of the anons that run to other blogs to bitch about us is to cherry pick what ex anon has said: Luke being scared of women is true, but things about Sammy are fabricated or exaggerated.

Ex anon coming back and basically doing a 180 definitely caught me off guard. Also, the people that go to other blogs with things that I say on my blog or some of my mutuals, it’s all such a BS because those blogs that they run to to start issues never call us out by name. Part of it is "life gets in the way," I'm working a lot and so whatever time I have left is spent just messing around or meeting with my loved ones.

'Ask' reply about the themes in Ahsoka and why the show doesn't know what it's about. Problem is, I go about it starting from the basics, so nobody's gonna sit through reading a tematic breakdown of the first Pirates of the Carribean movie, The Batman and the original six Star Wars films before I even get to the show at hand.

"Part II" post about what Ahsoka, Rebels and TCW get right about lightsaber duels, which the Prequels never did.

Then there's the drawings.

I wanna draw a comic of the meeting between Yoda and Dooku in Dark Rendezvous. I wanna finish the comic fight between Maul and Ben. I wanna draw Mace, Shaak Ti, I've got a Luminara fan-art that was supposed to be ready for Jedi June 2022 and an Anakin drawing that looks weird. No time, nor am I skilled enough. (Like, I trace, that's what I do, it's not a secret I've said so before... but it takes me a long while to do so. I'm not fast at drawing, let alone coloring.) I could commission some of these, but there are obvious obstacles there.

There's fun tidbits I've discovered here and there but nobody will care about them and I usually try to not drown my blog with bs posts.

Then there's the bigger problem.

All the things I've listed above? I'm not 100% motivated to finish. But a lot of the new stuff I wanna write about is hella negative.

I had a lot of stuff I wanted to say about Ahsoka. But it wasn't all good. It was mostly me bitching, be it about the show or the fandom's reactions to it.

I've also got more stuff to say about Filoni's take on Star Wars, but I've talked about why it's inaccurate like 8 times already, and I don't actually dislike the guy, like there's plenty of things he knows and does that I think are awesome but also people won't stop putting him and his takes on a pedestal and--

oh shit, there's Acolyte too, I forgot about that, gray morality galore, here we come. But here too, like... I've talked a couple of times about why this entire gray morality thing is actually just the gen X-ers trying to make the prequels "cool" and "complex". but I've never explored properly, with quotes and research and shit. but i've talked about it so many times that at this point it'd end up like the Filoni rants, redundant. "we get it already." as if this show didn't have haters lined round the block for absolutely sexist reasons.

Don't get me started on the mountain of lies and/or idiocy that is the YouTuber Star Wars Theory.

And yet he said one thing a few months ago which struck a chord within me and it's the fact that Andor is awesome, excels on all levels because it's treated seriously, like a proper show, not a Disney Plus one... why wasn't Obi-Wan Kenobi? Why wasn't Book of Boba Fett? And I've already established multiple times that I enjoyed Kenobi (yes, including the Reva parts) and I've established that I know what they were going for in Fett and I've established that this is mainly a "Disney Plus didn't know how to structure a fucking show pre-WGA strike" issue more than anything else... but when I think about how these could've been treated instead? When I look at the characterizations and emotional stakes of like Fargo Season 5? It's infuriating. Because it's not bad (talking about Kenobi, BOBF is awful)... but it could've been EXCELLENT and instead it was just "okay" to "good".

I just miss live action lightsaber duels, man. Like, good ones.

and i dunno. maybe I should just let it rip on all this. "go off, king!"

but I think there's so much negativity re: Star Wars that adding my thoughts on these subjects, no matter how structured and reason, will just blend into a wave of needless, un-constructive hate.

maybe I should finish the writings in the drafts and just post them with no gifs, maybe just still images?

but doing any of that feels like a step back.

Kinda fun working with the basics for a change though, instead of having a bunch of fancy stuff. Reminds me of my days back when I first started on my scionoflorelei blog, although that was back in the days where fanart was accepted for icons too. Actually do get started on Eleanor Vance from Shirley Jackson's Haunted house on the hill. I've been seeing snippets from it on your blog and I'm getting a bit curious now

i am always ready to talk about my favorite babygirl lol. i'll try not to get too spoilery in case you ever read the book, cause it really is fantastic. if you do ever read it tho, i think the main tws are implied religious/child abuse and suicide

anyway, the very first line's introducing Eleanor is so good. "The only person in the world she genuinely hated, now that her mother was dead, was her sister."

she spent much of her adult life caring for her sick mother, to the point where she became a shut in. it's left her kind of immature, and unsure of how to deal with other people. she lives with her sister, her brother in law, and her young niece. given that this is set in the late 50s, they all seem to look down on her as an unmarried woman, and she's not left with a lot of options. she's offered to stay at hill house, and secretly takes the car her and her sister share to get there

basically, this doctor invited some people to stay at a haunted house and record any supernatural happenings. the main cast is:

Dr Montague: they guy who invited them. he takes on a sort of dad fiend role? the way the characters almost seem to play house with each other is def a thing in the book

Luke Sanderson: rich young dude who's pretty immature and lax. his family owns hill house, and they sent him to stay technically as a chaperone of sorts, but moreso to try and get him to be more responsible

and then there's Theodora: no canonical last name, and reads aggressively as queer in some way. she had a major, break up style falling out with a friend/roomate of unspecified gender, which prompted her to come to Hill House

while there, Eleanor craves connection, she's a deeply lonely person, but she doesn't know how to deal with people. she's left constantly feeling like an outsider, and the book is intentionally vague on what the group seems to think of her

there's also a part of Eleanor that wants to be taken care of, given that she's been a caretaker for years, but she despises being infantilized, which is how she's often left feeling.

she has an intense relationship with Theo, which reads as her being a repressed lesbian with internalized homophobia. she's simultaneously repulsed and obsessed with her. Theo seems to treat it like a summer fling, or just having fun flirting, but Elanor takes it deeply seriously.

Theo and Luke seem to flirt sometimes too, and it reads as both of them just fucking around and having fun for the summer, but Eleanor gets pretty jealous at times. she claims to have a thing for Luke, but only thinks about him with contempt. don't get me wrong, she thinks really nasty things about Theodora, but it's clear they have a lot more of an actual relationship

spoiling this line cause it's probably one of my all time favs in the book. it's just so delicious. they're dynamic is honestly insane

anyways, Eleanor's loneliness and isolation from the group starts to grow, and it seems like the house preys on her for it. it's like a predator circling her, and you can feel it

Eleanor's desperate for connection, and something that understands her, and she starts to believe she's found it in the house. her name is pretty important here too. she doesn't like to go by Nell/Nellie, but that's often what the group calls her. especially Theo. i think it plays into the Infantilization thing. but the house knows her name, and calls her by Eleanor.

i'm totally rambling rn, but i don't wanna spoil anything too too major. but one of Shirley Jackson's strong suits is absolutely her characters. there's so many layers to them, and that really applies to Eleanor. i can't recommend the book enough, it is always rotating in my brain. have a bonus Luke and Elanor scene since i don't know how to end this off lol

i am a PROUD polyglot. i speak six lanugages, 4 fluently. my first language is english but i started learning russian at a really young age, as that's what is spoken at my house 50% of the time

once i was pretty good at russian, my mom started teaching me finnish and let me tell you, not a fun ride. i got it so confused with russian and i sucked at it. now that i'm older, i'm way better though.

i am fluent in those languages and dutch. i learned dutch because some of my family hails from nijmegen which is like the most beautiful place on earth. i'm happy to say i was actually born there. but i stayed there for like a month before leaving.

i speak a decent amount of norwegian and french but there's still a lot of grammar mistakes i make. and that's it!

obviously, as russian, finnish, etc. aren't my first languages, it's likely i'll make SOME SORT of grammar mistake lol.

I saw someone say something about gossip blogs on here, and recently I’ve been seeing a lot of their posts. It honestly just pisses me off that they make these crazy assumptions based on basically nothing.

I saw something today of them talking about Luke maybe being gay and it’s really just no one’s business if he is or isn’t. And if he is WHO FUCKING CARES, they’re just baselessly saying this because he hasn’t had any girls linked to him😵‍💫🙄

I just don’t understand the way people are obsessed with people being in a relationship. like he could just be chilling and settling into the nhl, why are they so desperate for him to have a partner they can speculate about?💀

They all have problems leaving this type of well-meaning message under my posts, while making sure that I can't respond to it afterwards to prove themselves right ?

Once again, I have nothing against Olivia Cooke. She's even an actress that I really like (since I saw her years ago in the series Bates Motel), I've said it in several posts, and I've also already designated Olivia Cooke by name in other posts. I made a simple unintentional omission in this one.

No point trying to create a ridiculous conflict with the actress against whom I have absolutely nothing. I didn't even say anything that might insinuate that I was accusing her of playing a role in the way marketing was run. Plus I literally also made a post about differentiating actors from their roles and that you can hate a character while loving the actor.

Oh my god, sometimes I say "the actor who plays xyz" because I don't remember some of the actors' names 😱 You could point a gun at me and I still wouldn't name the actors who played Helaena, Jace, Luke, Laena, Laenor and the vast majority of the characters except these the main ones that are most talked about on tumblr. This must be an insult to them… I don't even have to visit @drunkchickpea or @starfallalyshightower's blog to know they're on TG. This is just another example of people coming to a blog that is clearly pro-TB on every side and nitpicking whatever they can. I myself saw posts on your blog in which you write about Olivia Cooke as Olivia Cooke and if they want, I can link them to them. Picking on words is the best example of the lack of any arguments. They do this or insult you personally like some other people we know (unfortunately) on this platform, because they have nothing constructive to accuse you of. It's funny. So you have absolutely nothing to worry about because you haven't done anything wrong. Where's the hate? Olivia Cooke plays the character Alicent, so calling her "Alicent's actress" is basically naming her after her job title. That's her job. That's what she does. She is an actress. And she plays the character Alicent. This is funny 🤦‍♀️

You can hate lucemonders, make angry posts about lucemond and use your free time to declare yourself "anti" instead of genuinely enjoying the things you like. i also never said that reality equals fiction, or that the actors are the characters they play, but that doesn't change the fact that the face of lucerys is a 14 year old boy. when people picture luke, they picture a child. if you think it's okay to write nsfw content about children i think you're a fucking freak and i'm allowed to say that on my own blog! please block me!

I've always joked to myself that Luke's biggest offense (aside from the obvious) was that he was boring, but I've never seen anyone else outwardly say it with such conviction. You're a braver person than me! 👍

Oh I've been on the "Luke is boring" train since the show was airing, it's just an objective fact. Luke suffers from something a lot of characters on the show suffer from, which is that the show tried to cram way too much into one ten episode season of television and as such a lot of character writing suffered, especially on the Blacks' side (nearly all Blacks side characters are severely underdeveloped except for Rhaenys and Corlys, who have the distinction of being somewhat schizophrenic). Luke does nothing notable for episode six, nothing notable for episode seven until he maims Luke, nothing notable for episode eight, he's not even in episode nine, and then in episode ten he dies. That's why the scenes he's in during episode ten feel as clunky and bad as they do, they sat down to write the finale, realized that there was no reason for people to care at all when Vhagar munches him, and so we got those random scenes to try and bolster his connection with Rhaenyra and show that he's The Goodest Boy to try and shoehorn in any reason for the audience to care. And be honestly people, did you feel sad when Luke died because Luke as a character is now gone and we'll lose him forever, like we did when Robb and Catelyn died, or are you just sad because he's fourteen and it made Rhaenyra sad and you like Rhaenyra? It's the latter.

(it's also why Lucemond is so popular, because Luke is such a nothing character he's basically a blank slate that a bunch of people can project themselves onto and thus be casted in whatever role they want him to be as a self-insert because Aemond is hot and you can't do that with any other character Aemond interacts with, because they've all got personalities that can't be subsumed the way you can with Luke because he's got no personality)

This is a problem that plagues Jacaerys and Baela and Rhaena as well (seriously, please name me three character traits for Baela and Rhaena separately, I can barely name three for the two of them combined you could literally replace them with lamps and nothing changes it's so bad), but because they're gonna be in the show longer, there's more of a chance to fix it. Luke only being around for four episodes, doing fuck all for most of his appearances, and being defined by "guy who caused grievous bodily harm in a fight he shouldn't have been involved in due to the fact that the opposite side did nothing wrong and then refused to ever even show contrition for it" and then promptly dying means that there's no chance to expand his character the way Jace and Baela and Rhaena can potentially get (and I highly doubt Baela and Rhaena are gonna get much expansion tbf), so we're stuck with the most boring boy. He's a plank of wood, he's nothing, he means nothing to me except that sometimes I think about how difficult the recovery period for literally losing an eye must have been for Aemond on so many levels and I think that Vhagar went too easy on his boring ass.

brief overview of my post UF/LF comic idea. thing. if people were interested. sorry if this is hard to follow i have disorders !!!

basically. i wanted to give extra character development to flora (and clive!) (i really like clive! sorry! you cant. you cant avoid him. i made this blog ABOUT HIM.) because as many people are aware. floras writing. is Bad.

i thought i could probably fix this by having flora and clive butting heads for an entire investigation (with flora actually pretty mad at him and clive feeling guilty but unwilling to drop his shitty guy facade) and also in general giving flora a spotlight! luke is in america but he sends letters to the professor and flora (and clive. i guess.), and he also gives them a phone call from time to time now that layton finally got a god damn phone in his office.

"why is clive not in fucking jail???" uhhh shenanigans. what if he just got sentenced to 2000 puzzles (this is more than all the puzzles in each mainline game combined) and layton volunteered to keep an eye on him. thats pretty much what i'm rolling with and i think its funny. clive Hates this arrangement, he thinks its Stupid and that he should be given much harsher punishment. which is true. i can give him so much guilt. anyways. basically he does jobs for the professor (paperwork, going through letters, tidying up) with flora.

the professor is There. i would like him to realise hes been hurting flora by leaving her out (even if thats technically for her own benefit). he has been pressured into letting her go on his latest mystery solving trip to Snowsburgh, a little town in laytonverse scotland that i made up. theyve been having weird robberies and the police (incompetent) cannot figure out whos DOING this. so someone sent a letter.

layton also brings along one of his students, my oc/self insert vincent (pretty much uses any pronouns). WHY? vincent is from snowsburgh and layton would rather not be a lost little bitch on this particular outing also i have to introduce gay people to the laytonverse with my blue hair and pronouns ass guy. okay. vincent is majoring in psychology but is also taking layton's archaeology class. for fun! vincent is really interested in this trip because its been a while since he's been at his hometown, and he is fascinated by the professor's autism. he is Also a fan of trying to get into the heads of known criminals. which is a cool and scary surprise for him when he realises "ohhhhh. ohhhhhh thats fucking clive dove."

while layton focuses on the main mystery, that being the snowsburgh robberies, flora begins to notice. some strange things about the town. footprints that dont lead anywhere, the sillhouette of a very... ratlike? figure? slinking away without a trace. anecdotes about some people who recently moved away, and someone who's been missing for a few months now. and that vincent is Really Weird.

she figures she should Probably bring up her concerns with the professor but... would he even listen to her? she had to get CLIVE, A CRIMINAL, to vouch for her to even GO on this trip. she figures that she'd probably have an easier time figuring out the Secrets of Snowsburgh on her own :-) (clive and vincent would later join her investigation because they kinda figure itd be a bit fucked up to let a 15/16yo wander around in an unknown environment on her own (but they largely let her lead the investigation))

do i have character designs? yes. i have to redo them digitally. give me. some time to do that... though we Have drawn vincent on this blog before!
