it's funny how the first thing that comes up when talking about how skypiea will most likely be skipped over in the live action is the fantastical environment and not. like the extremely anti-colonial message skypiea constantly whacks the viewer with and how it pulls no punches condemning both the skypieans of the past and present, especially with the pumpkin scene.

the ignorance gan fall displays when he tells wiper he likes pumpkins, the plant the skypieans stole from the shandians generations ago thinking it would somehow be a jumping-off point to bond and not like. a massive fuck you. incredible storytelling

gan fall, conis, and all the other skypieans may not have been the ones to actively oppress the shandians in calgara's time, but they sure as hell benefit from the violence their ancestors enacted, and the idea that this message and condemnation of colonialism would get properly explored in a netflix show is. :|
