Posted @withrepost • @liron_gertsman_photography This may not have been the most action-intense Grizzly Bear encounter I’ve had, but this is undoubtedly the most beautiful Grizzly Bear I’ve seen. Look at the beautiful blonde highlights of this bears’ fur! The bear was busy eating grass and digging for grubs. At this time of year, Grizzlies in this area should have had plenty of salmon to fatten up on for the winter, but low salmon returns this year meant that the bears had to make due with other resources, such as grass and berries. Each show similar scenes w/slight edit variations inspired by differing #musicalscores #musicthemes ___________✨🎶✨__________ Sound (dialogue, musical score, ambient sound, background noise & synced sound effects) anchor visual imagery. #sound affects energy, mood & rhythm As cuts from one shot to another creates discontinuity. Dramatic jump cuts serve purpose if created intentionally for impact. Otherwise, distracting without continuity. Sound editing allows music/sounds to remain & flow consistently between shots so continuity is maintained/restored. More can be transmitted via our ears than picture alone, so sound choices become significant. Any filmmaker knows 90% of a film’s impact comes from sound. Humans, can: * see many things simultaneously yet only process visual information fully when focused on one image at a time. * hear dozens of distinct sounds simultaneously yet still process & to separate everything heard. Editing plays a role in the goal to parlay as much information as possible. With too little stimulus, audiences quickly lose interest. The original “Five Second Rule”: static shots onscreen longer than 5 secs can be perceived as “boring” to most. New work!! Keepers of the Coast explores the sculptural potential of minimalist painting. String binds the work and creates texture, tension and fragmentation. A single kintsugi-inspired gold line speaks to repair and history. Poured paint augments expression resulting in layered forms reminiscent of the magical mountains seen in my travels to Cappadocia, Turkey. Simultaneously, this abstract landscape depicts the essence of Canada’s beautiful West Coast. Keepers of the Coast is named to draw attention to the important work of Doug Neasloss, elected Klemtu Chief and Central Coast Resource Alliance (CCIRA) board director. The painting’s name is drawn from the film of the same name by Aaron Heidt that looks at how the Kitasoo/Xai’Xais, Heiltsuk, Nuxalk, and Wuikinuxv Nations are stewarding their marine territories. I have done several creative projects with the Kitasoo/Xai'Xais nation and support their goal to create sustainable environments, healthy local economies and communities by working together.
