Do you have any thoughts about the space design and (sparse) furniture in distant village and weaver's den?

I was always particularly fond of herrah's chamber, all the drapery/webbing and candles making it look like a sanctum. I think deepnest and distant village specifically is one of my favorite areas in the game design wise; the hanging webs and string just speak to me i guess. Its not exactly to the point of your furniture post, but i wonder what your thoughts are!!!

Ohhhhh yes i do have thoughts! I was planning to cover the design shape language of Deepest in a post about the architecture in hollow knight (I got a bit overwhelmed starting but i haven't given up on the idea!) and the differences in design between all the different areas and bug cultures (basically answering questions like "what is the hallownestian architectural style?" "what makes it different from deepnest's design elements?" stuff like that).

That is to say I AM IN LOVE with deepnest shapes. They're different from the general shapes you find in hallownest's design (these are more nuanced than, let's say, the difference between hallownest and the mantis tribe but different nonetheless).

It's sharper and has a more menacing feel to it, with an emphasis on bug legs and strings of silk (I also love how there's weaver masks everywhere, I think deepnest as a culture doesn't really focus on one figure they idolize, like how the hallownest seal, symbol of the king, is plastered onto every wall and window and...everything really)

I also love the beast's den and how you get this moment of solemnity after traversing the hellhole that is deepnest. And don't get me started on the emotional impact of it all! The light from above, the dust particles, the candles and the tattered banners convey this sadness...

I hadn’t seen any of your animatics yet so I scrolled through your whole YouTube page watching all your videos and I am FERAL!! Your art is awesome and I love your style so much!

I watched the animatic but I'm pretty sure I missed some details, could you mention some details/metaphors that you want people to notice?

Sure :D

Basically, all the shots with blue backgrounds (from 1:30 to 4:15), Friheten's present and past selves fighting (confronting may be a better word), are a big metaphor for her inner conflinct, that doesn't actually happen. I forgot to mention this in the lore post but a second star fell (the one with short hair) and Friheten's debating whether they should try and fulfill the prophecy again, now that a long time has passed. Their past self represents trying again, even with the possibility of things going terribly wrong again, and their present self is supposed to reflect the fear of repeating past mistakes. You can probably tell what decision she ended up making.

Oh and the scenes in b&w with her past self are real flashbacks.

I also feel the need to mention that none of what happens in the metaphorical shots show Friheten's actual personality, they're more like, exaggerated individual traits of hers.
