I don’t know why this just clicked after reading your fanfic for the millionth time lol. Ford is wearing a wedding ring. Does that mean they renewed their vows or did Ford just get rings for them? I know this is sappy but Bill finally signing the divorce papers would have my heart hurt in a good way.

Technically there's more complicated things behind the ring(s) because they actually exist for longer then you expect 👀 and they actually form a large part of the fic I'm working on now, which is on more details on their relationship and how it all occurs (ie, karaoke night, and then also Bill arriving to the shack). Some details are yet to be fleshed out; but unfortunately for you, Bill would essentially never choose to sign the divorce papers. He barely has any powers, and having at least that is some power over Ford because Ford hates it and also is beholden to it; plus it's on about a relationship he'd never want to sever. I think the only thing that would cause him to sign the papers is if they get close again and Ford betrays Bill in some form, and Bill would then sabotage their relationship out of anger (ie hurting both of them); part of this, as with everything, would come with a good dollop of self sabotage from guilt. Very interesting prospect itself, hmmm... Nevertheless, as a sap myself, they definitely do eventually renew their vows and are probably grossly adorable about it (you can't not have SOMETHING, Mabel would be devastated).
