Pick a Pile — Preparing for Spring
Howdy!! The intention for this reading is what you need to know to prepare for spring. This is a general reading so take what resonates, leave what doesn’t, and stay spooky!!
Pile One Pile Two Pile Three

♧-
♧-
♧-
Pile One ♣︎
6♣︎ 4♥︎ 6♦︎
In your preparation for spring you should be mindful of your relationships. You’ve been in a bit of a flow state, things come easily but it may feel a little mundane. A change in seasons may show you some new patterns in your life, pay attention to the people you are closest with.
♧-
♧-
♧-
Pile Two ♧
A♣︎ 10♠︎ K♥︎
Spring comes with completion for you. Maybe a graduation or something more somber. But this ending, whatever it may be, will make room for new beginnings. I’m seeing this as a new hobby or a job that fits your interests. You may be very emotional this spring, but this is also an opportunity!! Feeling deeply is a gift, it may make room for realizations about yourself.
♧-
♧-
♧-
Pile Three ♣︎
10♣︎ 3♦︎ 10♠︎
I had to wrangle with this reading because the cards seem so abrupt. There will be sudden change this spring. A job or a task that has been dragging on may be suddenly coming to an end, much earlier than you expected. It seems to be a relief that this thing is ending. Be mindful to keep communication open as this door closes. You can grieve things you won’t miss.

I was wondering if you have any witchy traditions for the new year that you’d like to/be okay with sharing? I tend to celebrate on the lunar new year and am looking to add to my usual rituals!!
A bit late in answering this one, but only because I haven't had all that many witchy traditions for the new year until recently.
Usually, I've done my annual cleansing and warding around Halloween/Samhain, but this year things just kept getting in the way, and I wound up doing a much different ritual based around the full moons in December and January. It was actually much easier that way, so I think I may change things up in the future.
Apart from that, I try to make a point of tossing out some liquor and saying RABBITS RABBITS RABBITS just after midnight. One personal thing I prefer to do is to end the old year and begin the new one with my near-and-dear in the same room. It's not wholly possible since my family mostly lives in another state, but I try to have myself, my husband, and our cats (and the Intrepid Girlfriend if she's available). Just sort of a way to start the year off right.
Usually I also make some sort of meal that includes a good-luck food for the new year, like fish or cabbage and the like. Didn't happen this year, but we did go to a lot of parties!

I have to say there’s something so fun about quietly being a witch in a silly friend group. I don’t advertise or talk about my spirituality, but every now and then a friend will point to one of my trinkets and say, “a guy!” and I get to say, “yeah! he protects the house!” which is completely true. He does protect the house, that trinket is imbued with lots of care and energy to do so. But to my silly friends who love whimsy it becomes a joke, “oh, he’s powerful!” And he is, in fact they usually respect whatever title or powers the trinket supposedly has, and I am entirely truthful in telling them what the trinket does, they just don’t know to what extent.

Hello!! I’m an eclectic witch in my 20s and I’ve been practicing for about 5 years now. I am incredibly queer, I will not stand for terfs, homophobes, racists, xenophobes, or any hate on this blog. With that, these are links to my assorted posts!!

Happy to report that my incident earlier this week has given me a wonderful and much needed opportunity to clean my altar!! Given the damage to the surface I’ll be needing an altar cloth, if anyone has thoughts or recommendations I’d love to hear it!! I know it’s essentially just a table cloth but it’d be nice to do something special ♧

I tend to do my witchier celebrations of the new year on the lunar new year, but it feels a little magical to start with a new moon on January first as well!! I imagine this will be a great night for spell casting and setting intentions for the year to come. Thank you for all of the support this year, hoping for the best in 2025!! Happy New Year :)

Dunno if anyone else has experienced an uptick in things going your way, but I’ve seen lots of 999’s and the guy who’s been dancing around hiring me finally called me back!! There have been a couple other things falling into place and I’m feeling grateful today ♧

Reposting this now that I’ve finished my finals and will be working my way back into practicing regularly with cartomancy ♧
Thought I’d make a post on cartomancy basics since I practice it so often ♧♧♧
This works for any deck of playing cards!! Grab one from around your house that has good vibes or pick a pretty one up from the store, super easy to keep around without raising any suspicions if you’re a closet witch!! The deck I use I found in the basement at my mom’s house.
There are a lot of people who break up the deck in terms of a standard tarot deck, assigning houses to the suits and such. Personally, I don’t like this approach, I think it’s confusing and forces meaning onto cards that have their own already.
That being said, I use principles of Pythagorean Numerology to determine the meanings of the cards. This is something I started doing a few years ago when I first started my practice and it’s worked great!!
Each number has a certain correspondence, I’m going to simplify each one and how I interpret it but do your own research!! It’s great practice!!
1 or Ace - Beginning/Opportunity
2 - Balance/Cooperation
3 - Connection/Sharing
4 - Stability/Foundation
5 - Change/Activity
6 - Pattern/Communication
7 - Mystery/Unknown
8 - Movement/Time
9 - Growth/Wishes
10 - Completion
Keep in mind that with these associations there are also reverse meanings!! It all depends on the cards that are drawn, context is so important!! These other meanings are mostly the opposite of the ones listed here, so where an Ace might mean an opportunity in one context, it could mean bad timing in another!!
For the royal court or face cards, I have found them to be more ambiguous. What I’m going to define them as is incredibly simplified so please do your own research!!
Jacks - Messengers/Young people - Can imply someone who is young at heart or immature
Queens - Women/Femininity - Can imply someone who tends to be more introspective and mature, maybe more intuitive and/or self aware
Kings - Men/People in Authority - Can imply someone who is burdened by something/has had to grow up because of expectations, can be protective, demanding, and/or possessive
For face cards I’ve found it’s important to remember that because of the card’s meaning, gender isn’t always significant. While I’ve found that face cards tend to represent people in my readings, their gender doesn’t always play a part in the card that is drawn!! For example, a man who is self conscious and tends to pay attention to their own actions may be better represented by a queen, so just be aware!! Think about the people that could be referenced, think about who is relevant in the questions you’re asking, pay attention to the personalities of both your cards and those around you!!
The last part of cartomancy basics that I’m going to cover is suits. The suit of a card determines a lot of its meaning, especially when placed next to other cards!! They each have a sort of personality as well. Again, I’m simplifying a lot of these meanings, do your own research and connect with your cards!!
♦︎- Diamonds tend to represent the real world or practicalities. Impulsive, independent, a bit high strung
♠︎- Spades tend to act as messengers or communicators. Intense, realistic, detached
♥︎- Heart tend to represent emotions/feelings or relationships. Compassionate, protective, dependable
♣︎- Clubs tend to reference creativity or action. Friendly, practical, sensible
That’s about it for basics!! In practice I highly recommend setting up an easy yes/no system with colors, I use red for yes and black for no, and journaling your sessions. Write down the questions you asked, the cards that were drawn in response, and how you interpret them. Create notes on what each card means to you for the most personal and practical readings, and take the time to connect with your deck!! Remember that your practice is personal and you may get better results from other methods of divination or different interpretations of your cards and happy witching!! ♧♧♧

As someone living in the US I’m devastated by the election results. I am mourning the next four years and I am exhausted for the years after that we will have to spend fixing the setbacks of this administration. Genuinely shocked.
Hope everyone is taking care of themselves today, I know I’m giving myself a break. We’ll make it through.

Feeling incredibly lucky to have been born in the south and moved up north. At home there is nothing the hills wouldn’t listen to me about and there’s nothing a good summer storm wouldn’t fix. In the city there’s something so comforting about the lack of being known or watched and how the snow storms muffle the thousands of voices and make the world still. They’re so wildly different and both so welcoming.
#witchblr#blackteatarot#not too witchy but something about the power behind storms is so lovely to me#storm water is some of my favorite stuff to use#snow or rain

Just moved into my first apartment (incredibly excited) and I’m starting school tomorrow so I am very busy at the moment!! Pardon any absence, I still need to unpack quite literally all of my belongings and secure a job, but with a new space comes a lot of cleansing and new rituals so I’m excited to share!!

Thought I’d share some teas that I use in my practice and when I drink them ♧
Earl Grey ♣︎ I’m a big fan of black teas because of their grounding properties and their caffeine for a little more energy while I work, but I love adding a little all spice for an extra magical kick, also tastes amazing !! I usually buy the Bigelow brand, it’s infused with bergamot for yet another magical boost ♣︎
Jasmine ♧ One of my favorite things about jasmine is the aroma, I feel like my whole room smells like it after I make a cup !! I often leave a bag on my altar as an offering and drink it in the morning for Eostre !! I buy the TenRen brand just as a personal preference, be careful steeping because it can get very bitter very quick ♧
English Breakfast ♣︎ Another black tea and therefore another great grounding drink !! I usually cold brew this tea with orange peels, prep the night before and drink in the morning, refreshing and pairs so well with the orange !! I use Whittard loose leaf that I found in the coffee shop I used to work at ♣︎
Green ♧ Light and versatile, green tea is easy to incorporate into so many practices. I tend to use it as a base for other magical ingredients like lemon juice and local honey, as a way to connect to the environment I’m working in !! I’ve tried a few different brands and haven’t noticed much of a difference from one to the next, but I usually end up with Tazo or Bigelow ♧
I will keep updating this list, as there are plenty more I use in both practical and magical ways ♧♧♧
