Now you may be seeing something right? FGT Ichigo looks kinda a lot like Yhwach.
Now we know Ichigo is a Quincy and all Quincy have Yhwach's blood running in their veins but only Ichigo looks like him to this extent when in his Final Getsuga Tensho.
Both have long dark hair.
Red crimson eyes.
And a handsome fac-
Ahem, I mean this leads me to believe that Ichigo may have been using his Quincy powers while in that state. Hey look, this is just a theory and Kubo may have just thought it's a cool design choice before the Yhwach twist and all but just let me have fun with this one okay!

Now what is Final Getsuga Tensho specifically? Some believe it's Ichigo absorbing all of Zangetsu's powers but I disagree. I think FGT is more of a fusion between them. Getsuga Tensho is a technique using Zangetsu's powers and only Ichigo can call upon the technique, it cannot be used by Zangetsu without its wielder or Ichigo without his weapon. And my proof is this line by Ichigo:

He is fighting with Zangetsu, not using him.
And there's also the fact that Zangetsu was literally fused to his hand.

Now then that we established that, let's get to this point.
Final Getsuga Tensho is not just a final technique. It's also a combination of all of Ichigo's powers. Both Shinigami, Hollow and Quincy. And why is that?

When Ichigo was fighting Zangetsu he was fighting both his Quincy (in Young lad Zangetsu) Hollow/Shinigami (In white Ichigo) in a fused state. And achieving FGT is him basically accepting both powers, and making himself a weapon for a short time, becoming Getsuga itself.
Heck we talked about his design resembling Yhwach why not talk about how his design resembles a Hollow in how the mask wraps around half of his face with little teeth and how the black spirit energy is like his Tensa Zangetsu's Getsuga Tensho (shinigami power) only strengthening my thought about it not just being a final technique/attack but a fusion of all of his powers, both mastered and latent (which is why Ishinn had Ichigo do it, not him. His wouldn't probably match Aizen)

And the nail in the coffin is what Aizen says here.

Aizen here is beyond Quincy, Shinigamis, Hollows and humans, no one can stand up to him. He's on a higher plane than all beings except Ichigo. Who overpowered him with ease, who's on a higher plane than he is.
There's only one being that can be on a higher plane than the Quincy,Hollows,Shinigami:

Yhwach, the Quincy King, the Almighty. He's the only one who could over power aizen that much and without even trying.
Now I am not saying that Ichigo is somehow using the Almighty powers, that's stupid. I am saying that he was using his Quincy powers which are from Yhwach himself. Fusing it with his other abilities to make Aizen look like a joke.
And even then, FGT is probably just an imperfect version of Ichigo's final form he used against Yhwach. Because FGT is used when Ichigo didn't fully realize and unlock his Quincy powers/Blood. And that it's a one shot weapon where he can use it only once and lose all his powers after whereas his final form where he realizes and mastered all of his powers he uses to its fullest potential and doesn't just disappear.
And that it looked like how Zangetsu looks like when he was fighting him for the Final Getsuga Tensho.
And all of this leads me to believe that Ichigo was using his Quincy powers there and that's how he overpowered Aizen that easily, especially in base.
TL;DR FGT is just an imperfect Final form that Ichigo uses against Yhwach in chapter 676.
Good night or Good morning 👍.
NaruHina 4ever
Petition to call Tensa Zangetsu YoungMan Zangetsu.
But remember. That's just a theory, a game theory. Thanks for watching.

Aizen's Anime Depiction
I know there's been a lot of contention regarding how Aizen has been portrayed in the anime. With it making him more emotional and seemingly less stoic and in control. He looks more (for a lack of of a better word) vulnerable than he did in the manga and previous anime.
Which has caused a lot of fans who viewed Aizen as this emotionally invulnerable character that can never express anything true and is always walled off to feel discontent with how he's being depicted.
But I personally like the anime's take way more.
Let me explain: Aizen has been in a sensory depravation cell for more than 2 years completely restrained and lacking any human contact. For those who don't know sensory depravation and isolation are torture methods, which means Aizen has been essentially tortured none stop for 2+ years at this point.
Arrogant asshole or not that is bound to take a toll, a heavy one at that. It never made any sense to me how Aizen seems perfectly fine in the manga after what is basically physchological torture.
His more reserved and tense personally fits so much better in my opinion. He is still the asshole we all know and love but his time in muken has affected him.

Byakuya is an important figure in many senses, but especially because of his relationship with Rukia and his character development.
or; i write a byakuya character analysis and you read it!
Byakuya is a prideful and very wise character, he is the captain of the 6th division and the head of the Kuchiki Clan at the time of the story. He is far more over-hated than deserved at the beginning of the Soul Society arc, as many people see him just for how he treated Ichigo and Rukia, letting his sister go on to be executed rather shamelessly.
However, part of the reason for Byakuya being so cold when Rukia returned to the soul society was his late wife, and Rukia’s older sister, Hisana. She was a commoner from a crime-ridden district. Byakuya had broken the rules just by marrying her, which affected Byakuya’s prideful image of himself. It wasn’t long before she had fallen ill with no chance of saving her.
Her final wish before she passed was for Byakuya to treat Rukia as his younger sister, and to let her call him brother. This can be seen in chapter 179, where he tells Rukia about her sister and the reason for his distance and coldness towards her since she had been brought in and returned from the living world. “Marrying somebody from the Rukongai was against our laws. Many in the family resisted. They said it would sully our reputation.”

Byakua believed he was letting his family down by marrying a commoner and then proceeding to bring in Rukia, “that is why after I took you in, I swore at the graves of my parents that I would never again break the law. I swore from then on I would uphold it whatever the cost.” That cost is his relationship with Rukia. He was both cold and distant to the young soul reaper, purposely keeping her out of a seated position within the Gotei 13 before Ichigo’s arrival.
Jumping back just three chapters before 179, in 176 and 177 Byakuya saves Rukia from Gin, taking a sword to the chest. This in itself is a big growth for his character as he moves past his barriers. Should he uphold his parents' wish and the law or his late wife's wish? He chooses the latter, thanking Ichigo indirectly as Rukia and Unohana sit at the injured Captain's side after the battle.
Both Ichigo and Byakuya learned from each other, Byakuya especially in their second fight during chapters 152 and onward. Ichigo is confronted by Byakuya, who asks why he is so insistent on saving her, Ichigo seems surprised by this, asking Byakuya questions of his own.
“There's something I want to know myself. Aren’t you Rukia’s brother? Why won't you save her?!” (153)
Byakuya does little to answer him, brushing off the question claiming Ichigo would not understand regardless if he told him, which most certainly has something to do with Byakuya’s views on laws, his honor, and his pride. Ichigo however does not let up and continues to bite at Byakuya’s pride and honor, “Execute your own sister? That's twisted. I don't give a crap about your sense of duty or your honor. I won't let you say that in front of Rukia ever again.” (160)
“Your so-called honor demands that you kill Rukia. If that's the case then stepping on your honor is the reason I achieved bankai!” (162)

“The Kuchiki are one of the four great noble houses. We have to set an example for all soul reapers, if we do not uphold the law… who will?” (167)

After the battle Byakuya realizes just how far Ichigo was willing to go, telling Byakuya if he were in his place, he would fight the law, and fight to save Rukia even if it meant going against what he stood for. After Ichigo says this to him, Byakuya pauses for a moment, reminded briefly of Kaien Shiba, “I was never his enemy. He's been fighting the laws of the soul society. He’s similar, to the one whose ferocity I found distasteful”
This turns Byakuya away as he gives up on his pursuit of Rukia, giving Ichigo the battle.
“Your ferocity has broken my sword. I will pursue Rukia no more. The battle is yours”

His defeat to Ichigo was one of the most important things when it came to building his character. It let him rediscover himself and the love he held for those closest to him. He had severed his relationship with Rukia, placing the law above her. Hearing Ichigo speak so strongly he once again remembers the freedom and enjoyment that came with placing those closest to him above all.
Another important fight within the series would be Byakua’s fight with Zommari, the 7th Espada. After coming to Rukia’s aid, saving her from being finished off after her own battle, Byakuya takes on Zommari. Across the duration of the fight, Zommari takes over Rukia, aiming her blade at her throat, to which Byakuya binds her in place–keeping her from further harm. By the end of the fight, Zommari is furious with Byakuya, saying he had no right as a Soul Reaper to slay hollows
“What makes you think I'm acting as a soul reaper? I'm going to slay you because you aimed your blade at my pride.” (302)

That pride being Rukia.
The seventh Espada acts as a parallel to Byakuya during the earlier chapters, Zommari is blinded by his power and pride, and Byakuya even tells Zommari that the reason he had lost was due to his arrogance. The fight shows more growth between the two, the pride is no longer his strength but his love for Rukia and so when Zommari threatens to kill her, Byakuya strikes him down.
He didn’t kill the Espada because it was his duty as a soul reaper, but rather his duty as a brother.
At the beginning of the Quincy invasion, Byakuya is up against the Sternritter Äs Nödt, who holds the power of fear. Fear wasn’t something present in Byakua’s mind, as when he had become a captain and the looming burden of leading the Kuchiki Clan, fear was something he had to suppress. As a Soul Reaper, one cannot fear a battle, as it is their duty, so when Äs Nödt presents this concept of fear Byakuya is mistaken.
“Fear..? That is absurd. There is no battle without fear, I've overcome it every time I survived a life-or-death situation” (501) He believes it is something he has already overcome. While he may have, the true thing he fears is losing the person he cares most about, Rukia. The image of Rukia that Äs Nödt implants into him causes Byakuya to freeze, leading to his ultimate defeat.

Later, further into TYBW, there is another big jump in Byakuya’s character as he encounters Äs Nödt again, while Rukia is the one fighting. When he arrives, he catches Nödt by surprise, weakening the Sternritter as he goes on to praise her, “Rukia, as I was coming down here I kept feeling your spiritual pressure. You’ve become strong Rukia.” this praise also comes from a place of acknowledgment, Byakuya had overcome his fears and insecurities, which made it clear how Rukia felt. it was easier to acknowledge that Rukia had never felt properly acknowledged for her strength by her brother, though this changes during this fight.
“My brother... my brother thinks I've… become strong” (569).

During this panel, it is easy to tell that his words have a large impact on her as tears form in her eyes and brief images of the past are visible. Past events in which Byakuya was colder, and less kind to her. Nonetheless, the fight continues, it is brief as Byakuya watches Rukia perform her bankai, leading to more praise from her brother “That was a magnificent bankai, but it’s a difficult bankai. Half a misstep and you lose your life. It’s a perilous bankai. Handle it with caution, never be impatient” (570).
It is clear how much Byakuya has grown to admire her and her capabilities, clear in not only his actions but his words too; “Let’s go Rukia, let’s go protect the soul society” he has swallowed his pride and moved on to treat her as an equal, no longer looking down at her in the eyes of the man he used to be.

Overall, It openly shows the amount of change he went through both as a Captain and a brother.
that is all! thank you for reading 🩵

I hate to be that person, but IH's are even real fans? Because they completely invalidate Ichigo as a protagonist:

For all they care Orihime could be the protagonist instead of Ichigo or better yet Orihime is the protagonist of bleach.
Ichigo decided on his own to go and save Rukia with or without his friends support.
Ichigo went to Hueco Mundo not only to save Orihime, he's the son of a Shinigami and is in his nature to fight he seeks for it and enjoys it.
Orihime is not the only one who saved lives, the story begins with Rukia saving Ichigo. In fact Rukia and Ichigo saved her first from her brother.
She's an irrelevant character that didn't add too much to the story and her criticism is justified and you can't just call it hate because you don't like it.
#anti ichihime#anti orihime#bleach analysis#and I'm not that much of a biiig Ichigo's fan#one of the reasons i resisted to watch bleach as a teen was bc i found Ichigo to be little charismatic#in comparison to naruto for example#Ichigo only become interesting for me after he interacted with rukia#his character becomes more interesting in his interactions with her#now after reading bleach i like him#but i can see why kubo wanted rukia to be the MC#anyways but these people are ridiculous

An analysis on Rukia's captain outfit
Beside growing her hair + ponytail. Rukia's design gained 2 elements when she became a Captain:
🔴Ukitake left his Captain haori to Rukia in WDKALY 🔵She has a navy blue ribbon in her hair
🔵Just like her white sleeves when she became a Lt were given by Byakuya, we can see his new Oneshot design also has navy blue to match with his sister, coincidence or another gift? 🔴We know Captains have freedom in customizing their haori and yet Rukia chose to keep Ukitake's
🔵Just like her role as Lt, Kaien was set to become the Capt position. He is associated with blue, a nod to Rukia's role as the succesor of both
🔴Zangetsu's first design is based in SnS design due Rukia passing her powers to him. Ichigo has always been associated with red…
And yet now Rukia is associated with it too.
Mangakas give characters a specific color to make them stand out and create a narrative. I see Rukia's new design as a homage to her 'mentors', all of them taught her something valuable and believed in her potential.

analysis i wrote on mayuri and nemu vs pernida and how it develops their relationship!!
its very messy and imperfect (which im sure kurotsuchi would appreciate) but i hope you still enjoy reading it!
Mayuri and Nemus character development is one of the best in Bleach, especially proven during Mayuri and Nemu vs Pernida. He goes on to care for Nemu a lot more than initially shown in the Soul Society arc, and she grows to care for him more and more.
The fight starts out with Mayuri and Zaraki finding Pernida, one of Yhwach’s guards with the title of the “Compulsory”. Early on in the fight, before Pernidas true form is revealed, Zaraki recklessly charges in at them. His arm is ruined and starts acting on its own, so he rips it up and it crumbles to a puddle of blood on the floor. Despite Mayuris warnings, he continued to try to kill Pernida. Mayuri is forced to paralyze Zarakis entire body to prevent it from crumbling as his arm had done so. Mayuri realizes Pernida fights by injecting their nerves into the enemy and controlling them with the nerves. Pernida has arrows attached to some of the nerves that it shoots out. Mayuri had been dodging them until he noticed he was inevitably going to be hit by one. Nemu notices this as well and jumps up to save Mayuri.
After this, Mayuri snaps at Nemu, telling her “Do not think for yourself, you do not have the freedom to die of your own accord, you die when I order you to die” (chapter 640). While some people may argue it was abusive, I would argue against this. Nemu actually means a lot to Mayuri, as shown later on in the fight. This was more so from a place of concern, that he didn't want Nemu to die because he does care for her.

Nemu solemnly agrees to what Mayuri said and gives him hojiku zai (flesh healing medicine) to regenerate his missing arm that Pernida had cut off. She mentions that she noticed Mayuri had forgotten to shift through the medicine cabinet before leaving, as to which Mayuri remarks its “rather creepy” that she noticed that. Nemu claims she stepped into the fight to give Mayuri this medicine. Nemu seems to pay a lot of attention to Mayuri. This is shown in that scene as well as when she was a kid, when she was observant enough to realize Mayuri wouldn't tell her why he addressed her as Nemu rather than Nemuri (which I will touch on this name later), telling Akon “I don’t believe master Mayuri would tell me even if I asked” (640). This observance is clearly still present in her even as an adult as she noticed Mayuri forgot to do one small habit- searching through the medicine cabinets. Just as Mayuri cares for Nemu, Nemu cares for Mayuri.
After Mayuri is healed, he jumps back into the fight. He uses a small earpiece to communicate to Nemu instructions for the fight and what she must do to carry out her part. This is the second time we see Nemu actively participating in a fight alongside Mayuri. The first was in chapter 590, when Mayuri tells Nemu to prepare the reshi locking device as they are in midair. This time, her duty is much more significant. Mayuri instructs Nemu to stab Pernidas arrows with a nerve coagulating agent to stop all movement in their body and them as he spreads an anesthetic around to stunt the nerves, preventing them from controlling Nemu if she came in contact with them. Nemu successfully stabs one of the arrows with the coagulating agent and Pernida notices the skin on their thumb is starting to change color. It rips its thumb off, saying to Mayuri “This ain’t gonna kill me, Kurotsuchi” (641). Mayuri thinks to himself how Pernidas speech patterns sound a lot like Zarakis, and Mayuri realizes Pernida is also evolving and learning from whatever they put their nerves into. Mayuri panics and yells at Nemu to back away, as he knows she wont stand a chance with her reaction time. Pernida sheds its skin, essentially birthing a new one of itself as matai fukuin shotai (Mayuris altered bankai) had done. Nemu is standing at the bottom of Pernida with a worried expression as she watches this, repeating Mayuris name in her head. This scene shows both of them equally worried for one another- Mayuri yells for Nemu to get away for danger while Nemu worries about how close Mayuri is to said danger.
Here we see Nemu reflecting on her past, thinking about how Mayuri had done the Nemuri project. She remembers Akon's words: “You shoulda seen how happy the captain was when number 7 outlived that lifespan” (642) in reference to the 6th Nemuri who lived to be 2. This motivates Nemu to protect Mayuri, so she braces herself and jumps through the air to grab Mayuri before Pernida does. As she does this, we see more of her past. We see how she inquired to Akon why Mayuri had started to address her as “Nemu” rather than “Nemuri Nanago” (meaning sleep number 7”) (642). Akon explains that she’s part of the Nemuri project and also explains the depth behind the name. Akon says its Mayuris dream to make life, or make a soul reaper. He continues on to recite what Mayuri had said while naming the project: “Creating a soul from nothing. Artificially creating soul reapers is the dream of all soul reapers. But… a dream while awake is a silly thing. Therefore.. I am naming this project the Nemuri (sleep) project” (642). Akon goes on in his own words to say “it was the captains attempt at sarcasm” (642) and, still speaking to a child Nemu, “You eat, sleep, breathe. Learn something daily, grow up. While you do all that, captain Kurotsuchi is always in a dream. He’s probably afraid you’d notice that” (642).

Nemu admits she hasn't realized this and Akon says she would have eventually. This name, Nemuri, shows how much Mayuri values Nemu. Having her in his life is quite literally a dream come true. Akon says to Nemu that even if she had remained ignorant, Mayuri would've Kept calling her Nemu. The name was shortened for two reasons. First, to prevent Nemu from finding out just how pleased Mayuri was with the fact that his project was providing such fruitful results. Second, as a way to show intimacy between the two. Rather than having a title, she has more of an official name.
After this interaction between the two, Akon tells Nemu “you’re the captain's masterpiece. There's no way you won't evolve” (642). It goes without saying that this shows how much Nemu means to Mayuri.

Nemu grabs Mayuri from Pernida and bursts through them in the process, blowing up their palm and fingers. Mayuri questions how Nemu has such power as to which Nemu says “it is the power you gave me, master Mayuri” (642) with a contented smile on her face. She informs Mayuri that she has extracted her body to its utmost ability. Mayuri tries to protest this, not wanting her hurt and asking when he ordered her to save him, but she interrupts him saying “you didnt. It is my mission. My mission is to protect you, master Mayuri” (642). Mayuri again protests and says “No! Your mission is growth” (642), as to which Nemu responds “I believe I can show that growth by protecting you” (642). This shows that Nemu values Mayuris feelings, trying to show that he had achieved more than he originally aimed for. He had not only created a being, he had created one that was able to evolve on its own, had its own being, its own personality. It was Nemus way of showing Mayuri how much he’d achieved, and perhaps a way to show her gratitude to his devotion to her.
Nemu sets Mayuri down on a building and goes back to fighting Pernida. Mayuri remarks that he “can't believe… the day I leave a battle in your hands has come” (642). Nemu shaves away 6 percent of her soul to fire it at Pernida in an attempt to kill them. Pernida is split into a mess of flesh. Mayuri watches in awe as this happens, and as Nemu starts descending to the ground. As she is falling, Pernidas flesh chunks grow eyes and shoot their nerves into Nemu, then explode her body, her flesh splattering around Mayuri. Mayuri watches in horror, frozen in place. He repeats Nemus' name softly to himself as his head tips down in an expression of anguish (643).

As Mayuri was mourning Nemus' death, Szayelaporro appears next to his shoulder, mocking him for feeling despair. (643) He retorts how Mayuri had previously said that he “abhors perfection” (306), and in reference to Nemu, “What could be better than it dying then? It died because it wasn't perfect! That means there is room to create something even better” (643). He continues on to say “Well, that's what I expected you to say. Oh.. I see. You were beginning to think that.. That failure of a meat puppet was perfect” (643). Mayuri quietly hangs his head as Szayelaporro taunts him.

This scene is crucial to showing how Mayuri has developed. He directly contradicts his previous absolute hatred for perfection all because of Nemu. For once he practically accepted perfection because he truly began to believe she was perfect. This shows how much he cares for her because he accepted the one thing he hated for the person he cares for most.
After resolving himself, Mayuri swats Szayelaporro away (side note im not sure if he was really there as spirit or he was like a hallucination? But mayuri makes him leave so) and lifts up his head, regarding that it was “utterly comical” (643) to be “reminded of his negligence by a pseudo scientist like you” (643).

Mayuri lets Pernida eat Nemus' corpse, knowing that once it was consumed Pernida would die. He prevented them from eating Nemus' brain as that would stop their death- death by excessive cell growth, evolution. This is quite ironic because Nemu died in the act of trying to prove her growth to Mayuri.

Mayuri walks away with Nemus' brain before falling due to some of Pernidas stray nerves breaking his legs. Ikkaku and Yumichika take him back to one of the body preservation pods Mayuri had brought to the fight, allowing the second one to be used for the paralyzed Zaraki. While in the pod, Mayuri holds Nemus' brain under his clothes and acknowledges the fact that he’d achieved his dream, saying “Evolution! I have finally created a konpaku from scratch that evolves on its own! I have surpassed you! Kisuke Urahara” (644). His speech starts slowing down as he slides into sleep.
In his sleep, we see Mayuri with a naked Nemu. Partly because Kubo is a perv This is to show he saw Nemu in her purest state, similar to how Masaki was naked in her dream in front of Isshin, who loved her (536). It also shows how Nemu comforts Mayuri because he declares that he has surpassed Urahara by creating Nemu (644). He’s finally able to stop worrying about being less than Urahara and is now comfortable with himself, because of Nemu. The fight is concluded here.

Aside from the fight, the poem in volume 71 speaks greatly about their relationship.
“My child’s hand, so lost
Wandering, in search of mine
Close but far, I take your hand
Together we will walk, to the end” (start of v71)
The poem demonstrates how they are together. “My child's hand, so lost Wandering in search of mine” represents Nemu looking for her meaning. “Close but far, I take your hand” represents how Mayuri was at a subtle distance throughout all their time together. While he was there for all of her life, he was always slightly guarded, such as in chapter 642 when Nemu says “I don’t believe master Mayuri would answer me even if I asked”. This ties back to the line reading “Wandering, in search of mine” as that quote shows Nemu is searching for more about Mayuri. Finally, “Together we will walk, to the end” shows how Mayuri stayed with Nemu till death. At the end of chapter 644, there is a sketch of Mayuri holding a child Nemus hand, literally representing the poem in a visual aspect.

Leading up to this, there are also small sketches of Mayuris hand opening up (in order chapter 639, 640, 641, 644). This represents Mayuri only fully accepted his love for Nemu once it was too late, because the image of them finally holding hands was after Nemu had died.

Overall, the two have a very deep connection that people fail to admire. They’ve come far together and have one of the most interesting relationships in all of Bleach.
i hope you enjoyed ❤️

Mayuri Kurotsuchi, and me having a very questionable inspiration and role model
One often finds comfort and inspiration in things one would have never imagined would cover that role.
That is what is happening with me and Mayuri Kurotsuchi.
I like Mayuri, aside from the weirdness of his looks and his glee and all the other stuff, his "villain but the good guys made him work for them", because he is a sort of power fantasy for me, and I have only now realized it.
Hear me out.
He is gender non conforming. He has people's lives on his hands and NO ONE has HIS life in their hands: he cannot be controlled, they can criticize him but it bounces right off and he WINS. He has people following him and helping him in his endeavors, good or bad.
I… Do not really have that irl. I am somewhat gnc (mullerian, I do not shave and do not wear make up, I want to start dressing in a more masculine way) but I feel society's judgment on me. I would like to be crass and have my opinion receive credit every now and then, but simply because I try to set my foot down and say "this is my opinion and I want it to be seen as relevant instead of being cast off as a hysterical girl's rant" I am derided and made fun of, considered someone who overreacts. I do not have followers, I am a follower because I do not want to be left alone and do not have enough self confidence to BE alone and independent because I have been made to think my thoughts are too extreme.
But he does not have these issues. He came out of the jungle unscathed. He is the poisonous frog and snake. He can be dangerous and people respect him and let him do what he wishes. He is independent and does not give a rat's ass about what others think.
Is he a bad person? Yup. I would never do human experimentation in real life, but I do feel like I am a specimen sometimes.
Did he ever feel like that too? Did he ever feel like "showing them" and making them become his science projects instead? So that they would regret making him feel wrong and disgusting?
Idk man. Idk. He is morally VERY questionable but there are a lot of things he has which I wish I had.
I think I get why he hates Urahara, too. Urahara, in Mayuri's eyes, must have seen him as his very own "side project", like, "let's see how these criminals do in my division"… And Mayuri is probably right in his assessment of Urahara's wit. I like Urahara but the man is calculating. And so Mayuri must have realized how Urahara might have actually felt about his promise to Mayuri that he would inherit the 12fth Division as Captain. Mayuri must have had doubts that Urahara even saw him as smart enough to do it. Because, again, Mayuri HAD noticed Urahara saw him as a science project, a specimen to observe. It must have made him so mad. I have suddenly realized why there could have been beef between these two.
Just… The humanity of Mayuri, folks. Hidden in the details. And this feels cathartic, this method of telling us Mayuri's insecurities. Because I also fear people see me as ghoulish, and only as an SJW asshole, just like they could have perceived Mayuri as a freak that needed to be put in Maggot's Nest. And just that. Nothing more than that. But Mayuri helps Soul Society anyway. There's a nice taste to it for him nowadays. Because people HAVE to rely on him. They HAVE to rely on the genius of someone reprehensible and eccentric. It felt so fucking weird to realize all this but now that I have seen this side of him I cannot go back. He is the child that was unloved by the village but he chose not only to lit it on fire, but to rebuild it how he wished, and aware that everyone now depended on him. He does not need the village's burning remains to feel warmth. He does not want that warmth, he wants the village to suffer and grovel at his feet for help first and foremost. And I suddenly understand why. Damn. I just needed to vent I guess? About this side of him. I finally get why he helps Soul Society even though he holds no being in the worlds, aside from himself and his creations probably, on a pedestal.
Also this pride month I am not feeling too well so… Yeah. Thinking ab Mayuri being gnc and having to struggle in his early years is sending me down a rabbit hole.

Now I know I have not completely finished the series so there may be some inaccuracies or details left out, but fundamentally this is about the scene in TYBW, where Szayel appears to taunt him within his own mind, mostly because I noticed some things about it.(Under the cut cause my ramblings be long.)
Which is:
A. Szayel, is not in the form they physically met in, Mayuri only fought and directly met the man at his strongest in his resurrection. I notice that bleach tends to choose how characters appear extremely carefully, so I do think this holds some interesting weight to pull apart.
B. The method through which Szayel and Pernida are defeated, fundamentally was through Nemu. Interestingly, at least in terms of non-filler and other such things i may not have seen yet, my only known fight where he does in fact lose, is one where Nemu, is not interacted with as a major part of the defeat. Which is Uryu's fight.
C. I do believe Mayuri cares about nemu, he's just… Well he's a naturally fucked up man so the ways he shows this are… All over the place, though I will say I note that he has more growth over the series in showing it more properly, like as examples of him going from rejecting healing her, to at least healing her after, to handing it immediately to her in the middle of a fight once there's a short time for him to do so. also the way he talks to her grows much more respectful over the course of the series as I note, holding her closer to an equal which well, means a lot coming from this man.
With these notes, I notice that in this scene, it's fairly obvious that mayuri is having a complete and utter break and is digging into some way to reject the pain of this reality, even if that involves using the idea that he was being a fool and thinking of someone as perfect, could not be destroyed.
But not only that, Szayel's appearance has some connections outside of just the perfection manner, as noted Szayel's and Pernida's defeat are BOTH the person doing something to Nemu that results in their downfall?
Szayel lost because he targeted nemu, as when he regenerated from her, he absorbed the superhuman drug that Mayuri put inside of her in case of something happening, causing him to lose the battle entirely.
Pernida ate Nemu but couldn't eat her brain because of mayuri, and such the control centre for her growth cause him to grow and explodes thanks to the uncontrolled cell growth within him.
Mayuri keeping Szayel outside of his resurrection where such a thing happened could also be a further rejection of reality in this moment, that he doesn't want to acknowledge not only this sacrifice that happened, but any time that Nemu had to be sacrificed, like his brain his completely attempting to block all of anything slightly relevant to that.
But still, Szayel broke through, in his weaker form, to taunt him, but a form that was easier for Mayuri to swallow and reject. A form that could easily give Mayuri the control of the situation he was desperately searching for in that moment where he could suffocate the loss he experienced.
Enough to push forward for that time, even if it hurts.
#bleach#bleach analysis#mayuri kurotsuchi#nemu kurotsuchi#This isn't even mentioning the throughline of something that Mayuri believes is one of his greatest creations#being a key to his success in those battles and so on#but i just have a lot of thoughts on this man even if i don't have all possible info yet#went ahead despite my usual rules

🛑 9S says no to Bankai 🛑

9S, arms folded, tone calm but with edge: “Warning shots,” he added helpfully. “The next ones won’t be.”
He tilted his head slightly, eyes scanning the room like he was watching training dummies. “Pod, initiate new protocol. Anyone within the vicinity makes a physical gesture followed by words like ‘Bankai,’ ‘Hadō,’ or ‘Bakudō’—open fire. Same goes for dramatic chanting or flashy weapon draws. Got it?”
“Confirmed. New threat detection parameters set: trigger on incantation behavior,” Pod 153 replied.
2B, not even glancing up: “Apply the same to yours, Pod.”
“Acknowledged,” both Pods replied—in unison, like twin guillotines.
9S gave a slight smirk. “They all fight the same way. Blade up. Chant. Pause. Then power.”
He shrugged. “It’s like they want to die. Might as well be reading from a spellbook.”
The room froze. Shunsui’s hat tilted just a little lower. Rukia and Renji stiffened. Tōshirō’s pupils shrank. Byakuya blinked—just once. (In Byakuya terms, that was full-blown panic.)
A2, casually flipping her blade: “I don’t care what technique you’re using if I can stab you before you finish saying it.”
9S, watching Renji do his 18-line bankai monologue: "Why do they narrate their own powers out loud? Isn’t that... counterintuitive?"
2B, dryly: "It’s like they’re trying to lose."
A2, arms crossed: "Explain less. Kill more."
Pod 153, analytically: "Observation: Verbal exposition precedes most power activations. Estimated delay window: 3.7 seconds. Recommended response: preemptive strike."
9S, smirking: "So basically... we’re faster because we don’t stop to explain our loadout to the enemy like it’s a conference panel."
And Ichigo?

Okay, I was going to at least read through the first volumes in their entirety before typing any of this up and analyzing it, but the parallels between these two series is so insane already. I have so much to say about just the first chapters of each work, so here's my first rambling about the Jujutsu Kaisen and Bleach parallels (also sorry about the wonky ass angles and shadows, I'm just taking pics of my physical volumes for this)
The parallels between Bleach and Jujutsu Kaisen are honestly fascinating, but for me, the most interesting one, is how Ichigo and Yuuji exist as protagonists. Despite having such similar circumstances, and such a similar world, they are developing in opposite directions, and have an almost inversed story line to one another, and these first two chapters of the series set all of that up brilliantly.
Initially, when I considered the similarities and parallels between both stories, I thought they might be superficial. But reading and comparing these two chapters side by side, all the connections were so interesting to me! Not just in the writing and storytelling itself, but even in the set up of the pages and manga panels!
The very first pages of both series are setting up such a similar concept, and even mirror each other visually

These first panels were what made me consider the parallels not just between Yuuji and Ichigo, but Megumi and Rukia as well, which I hadn't thought about until now. I have a lot of thoughts on them, but I want to do a separate post centric on them later (specifically, a lot of comparisons of the Kuchikis and Zenins). But in this first chapter, Megumi and Rukia both serve as the catalyst for our protagonists.
Of course, this is a very popular and standard shounen trope. Our MC will meet someone involved in a different world, and this character will, in one way or another, drag them into it.
However, I think the Megumi and Rukia parallels run far deeper than that, and it's partially due to the drastic similarities of Ichigo and Yuuji.
Both Yuuji and Ichigo make a decision to irreversibly change themselves because Megumi and Rukia save their lives at the expense of themselves, thus putting Yuuji and Ichigo in the position to save them (and the innocent bystanders that were the initial victims of the fight)

Both of them decided to sacrifice themselves to save a stranger, who ultimately would become their best friend.
However, this well meaning decision is what sets off the inciting incident of both series: Yuuji eating Sukuna's finger, and Ichigo becoming a Shinigami
But despite the similarities between these two events, this is where the tone of the series shifts. This is where the inverse between Ichigo and Yuuji becomes more clear, as well as the inverse between Megumi and Rukia

Rukia offers to bring Ichigo into her world by imbuing him with her powers.
Megumi begs Yuuji not to eat Sukuna's finger.
These first few pages of the series set up Yuuji and Ichigo's respective journeys. Ichigo meeting Rukia, and getting involved in her life ultimately led to him growing and developing as a person, and ending his story happy and surrounded by friends and family. Of course, we don't know how Jujutsu Kaisen will end, but given the current events of the manga, it seems very likely that Yuuji is going to end up broken and alone.
Which is a very interesting comparison to consider, even beyond the similarities of their origins! Ichigo began his story already fairly jaded, depressed, and angry (not that the series explored this with the depth it should have, but it was touched upon), while Yuuji began the series a happy, hopeful person. Even their introductory scenes are so starkly different, with Ichigo being involved in violence already (albeit for an admirable reason with defending a dead little girl's memorial) while Yuuji is laughing and having fun at school, a picture perfect example of the average teen.

Yuuji and Ichigo are developing in opposite directions, and their origins alluded to that in all their similarities.
This is further hammered in with the ways their transformations are framed in Megumi and Rukia's eyes.

Yuuji's is seen as something disgusting and horrifying, which makes sense, considering his body has been taken over by an entity like Sukuna (and though we don't know it just yet in Bleach, this is another parallel between them, but I'll get into the similarities between Sukuna and Ichigo's Hollow later). Regardless, his change is framed as something negative, and Sukuna hammers home quickly that this is not a positive development for Yuuji.
Whereas Ichigo....

Is framed in a heroic sense with his transformation into a Shinigami. Yes, Rukia is shocked and confused by the extent of his change and his power, but she's not scared. She's not horrified. If anything, she is in awe of what he's become.
This is once more just setting up and solidifying the eventual fates Yuuji and Ichigo will face. Both of our protagonists are born from such a similar event, but are careening towards something so fundamentally different from one another. It's something that's honestly fascinating to consider!
And both chapters end off with this, a declaration of Ichigo and Yuuji having left their humanity behind (something that is discussed quite a few times in both series later on! Whether they can be considered human or not anymore)

Idk! Like I said! I knew the series had a lot of similarities, just based on general plot, but I didn't realize just how they paralleled each other so much until I was literally reading them side by side. It's so neat to me! Especially as I've mentioned multiple times now, the series are working with such similar plot points and beginning from nearly the same place, they will end up somewhere so incredibly different.
And these were just things to analyze in this first chapter! I genuinely can't wait to continue reading the series together like this, and dig into so many other characters and plot points I want to compare, as well as continue comparing Ichigo and Yuuji's development and circumstances!

This is real.
It's worth noting that Hana uses the modern slang "gorotsuki" to describe his abusers. It means delinquents but can also be used to describe hate crime perpetrators.
Just wanted to point out that an official fully voiced 2008 Bleach game not only states that Hanataro doesn't feel safe walking alone but uses wording that might imply his daily abuse is bigoted AND that Ichigo makes him feel safe💗

Yhwach and Adnyeus
I know we all joke (specially in the Bleach subreddit) about Adnyeus regretting siring Yhwach and how he is ashamed of him.
But I don't think it is all a joke, because a father that loved his child would never create a new world and then make it so his child would have to kill other people in order to live. Would have never intentionally create a world where his child and his people did not belong, did not fit in.
No loving parent would abandon their child in a completely new world with such alien concept as death all alone with no explanation.
Adnyeus had the power and knowledge to chose differently, but he didn't and really what does that say about him?
Yhwach grew in a world with no death but then was suddenly and forcefully de aged, had all of his senses stolen from him and had to come to the realization that he now needed to kill (a completely new concept to him) in order to survive.
I don't think Yhwach was born evil or delusional, but that everything he went through, everything he saw and experienced changed him.
And even after everything Yhwach still held some love for his father even if it was burried deep beneath several layers of hate and resentment.
Yhwach is in my opinion completely justified in having beef with his dad (doesn't justify the mass murder of countless souls though).
Conclusion Yhwach has daddy issues.

BLEACH Song analysis
Been listening to the track 'Everything I've Lost' since its debut in the TYBW Anime and I think it's a fantastic song to be used in context for the characters of Hirako Shinji and Kuchiki Byakuya It's a song about reflecting on what one has lost over the years, and all the mistakes they've made that helped them learn to be better In Shinji's case, it's reflecting on his life during and after the 'Turn Back the Pendulum' sections of the story and how he is able to come back to the Gotei 13 after everything. But when the Byakuya vs Pepe fight played this song again, it takes on a new meaning, it becomes a song about himself reflecting on his personal losses, namely, the death of his wife; Kuchiki Hisana
"If ever you hear this, my words are for you" Can be read like he's talking to Hisana
"I heard people say that you got to be cruel to be kind (oh, yeah) And at the time my world came crashing down" You can read this as him reflecting on how he felt deep down when she passed and how it changed him as a person for a while
"Everything I lost When I, I lost you Made me feel that I would never recover"
Again, his mindset between his wife's death and the end of the Soul Society Arc
"Now my life has changed And I found someone new And I would give anything just to thank you (yeah)"
The first line is him showing his growth as a person after he faced Ichigo and found the ability to love and care for his own sister in a more healthy way

I haven’t cared about Naruto since I was 13, but my ship of choice was Itachi and Hinata. I don’t know what this says about me but it’s probably best this isn’t canon.
the best thing about long running franchise with big cast like naruto is the amount of rareships people came up with
tbh naruhina and ichihime were like. my monkey paw curling moment
i remember when those big ships first becoming canon the shippers (including me!) were very excited about it but then as the franchise continues the same shippers fell out of love with their ships because of how underwhelming the canon treatment is
with ichihime especially like, they gave us a lot during the early arcs! i went crazy with "i will fall in love with your for five lifetimes!" and then orihime (alongside ishida and chad) ended up abandoned by the narrative, the depiction of their relationships with ichigo became stagnant as the series began to favor cool action scenes instead of character growth as most big name shounen jump series tend to do
if ichigo and orihime were allowed to have a heart to heart about how ichigo felt abandoned during fullbringer arc (also goddamn chad really got ignored in the arc thats supposed to focus on HIS involvement) and if orihime was allowed to protect ichigo both body and heart... then i would still be shipping them hard
i've seen people (even the ones not part of the fandom!) argue that ichiruki makes more sense because of this and i see their point but at the same time? tite kubo is clearly not equipped to write romance. if icihiruki becomes canon with the author's lack of skill then in that alternate timeline people will argue that rukia's relationship with ichigo has became stagnant and that it would make more sense for ichihime to become canon instead

The detail of Rukia's form fading away (so Ichigo’s losing his powers as a Shiningami) so it leaves behind bits of ash-like debris, that that's what we see in Ichigo’s infamous “Speed of the world” poem is!!? How did I not notice that before!??
To my fellow IchiRuki shippers
I see some among us are still a little confused with Kubo’s words ‘more than friends, but less than lovers’ about IchiRuki so I want to make something clear here after I have checked for confirmation:
Thanks to Nacchan! “more than friend, less than lovers” isn’t exactly accurate on the last part. The exact words of Kubo was said in questioning tone : 友情とも違うし、恋愛感情でもないんですよね?、2人の関係は Yuujou to mo chigau shi, ren ai kanjyo demo nain desu yo ne? Futari no kankei wa To say it is friendship is wrong, but to say it’s romantic / dating relationship is also not quite right don’t you think? Regarding these two. Japanese fandom took that quote as “They are not ‘friends’, but ‘lovers’ also didn’t exactly describe their relationship” (not LESS than lovers) and that’s what makes them different from other couples with similar dynamics in other series. However unlike most IchiOris who cling to this quote like its their lifeline, this quote doesn’t read as “THEY WONT BECOME A ROMANTIC COUPLE EVER” contrary to their delusional belief. This is why translation = serious bznz because it matters.so.much. But then again in some fandom translation is seen as opinion.”
Source: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.486172688076586.127725.486167371410451&type=3
So technically, Kubo didn’t say that IchiRuki relationship is less than lovers, he only stated that for Ichigo and Rukia, calling their relationship as ‘dating’ is ’not quite right’, which is something I have to agree with, IchiRuki’s bond are very very special and unique, but to call it ‘romantic’ is another matter for they are only close friends, for now.
“It’s not friendship but it’s not an amorous feeling either. With these two’s relationship, I think there is no other relationship like them in other works where despite both standing in a very close position with each other it is not romance. (laughs)”
“After being pierced by Rukia’s sword, Ichigo regains his shinigami powers once more. Just like the first time they met, they understood each other. Indeed, Ichigo and Rukia’s hearts connect.”
“When someone changes your world, that’s when you know he’s important to you.”
By Tite Kubo
As we can see, Kubo never says anything about IchiRuki will NOT be lovers, because he himself said this?
SJ: Do you have any plans to make Ichigo and Rukia a couple? Kubo: I’m not going to confirm nor deny that. [laughs]
And to make things more clear, let’s get some Fade to Black stuff shall we?
Like your previous work, in this year’s movie we heard you were involved since the early stage. Around March I think it all started when the director Abe and the movie staffs came to me. From that time director Abe wanted a “Back to the beginning” theme and wished the main characters Ichigo and Rukia to be the focus of the story. On top of that he wanted to portray something that linked to the first chapter of Bleach, the original appearance of Bleach… For me, I was very happy to know that the movie was heading that direction and said “That’s good, let’s go with that!” And from there on I joined in the production and put together the story and the setting after discussing it with everyone.
We heard the scenario was completed after a lot of hardship? The subject matter of the story is something I can agree with but there are still parts that made me worried until the end. Especially the speech in the last scene, I discussed and decided it with the director at the recording studio (laughs) To tell you the truth there are still bits I wanted to develop but if I do that who knows how long the film would be. (laughs)
You even came up with the Japanese subtitle “Calling Out Your Name” After coming up with the English subtitle “Fade to Black” they asked me to come up with the Japanese subtitle (laughs) So after carefully digesting the scenario I searched for some scenes that can be the key word or words that I can use, and found that in the plot, someone calling out someone’s name, especially in this story where Ichigo calling out Rukia’s name was a strong expression that even though no one else remembers you I do, and I found out it had an important meaning behind it. So that’s how I came up with the subtitle “Calling Out Your name”
DAMN IT “EVEN NO ONE REMEMBER YOU BUT I DO” HOW CAN’T THIS SHIT IS NOT ROMANTIC?!!! DON’T JOKE WITH ME KUBO!
Please tell us the highlight of the movie in your opinion With the battle it is not Ichigo vs. Gotei 13 but Ichigo vs. Rukia. In the first scenario the last boss was not decided yet and someone raised the question “Then what will we do about the last boss?” and we thought if Ichigo forgot about Rukia we thought “We want to see Ichigo and Rukia!”. We then started the discussion from there. In this battle there is actually a scene that links with the very first chapter of the comic and in my opinion I feel as though that is the most important scene in the movie. It links to what director said “back to the beginning” .
Because you were involved in this movie were there any bits you drew thinking about the theme “Back to the Beginning”? In my own thought I did not come up with the idea of drawing the scene where Rukia gives Ichigo her power like the very first chapter. So returning that scene in the movie gave me a strong impact and thought it was very interesting. On top of that because of this story I recognized once again that Ichigo and Rukia’s relationship is something special.
You went and watched the movie at the private screening but what sort of feelings do you have for that? I had fun (laughs) because it is my work it feels completed but on the other hands it means that you can’t create something stronger than that. In some bits while I was drawing it made me think “Would this sort of situation really happen?” but even so I was the one who thought and came up with the plot so even if I am surprised it does not feel fresh. Even if the author like me is involved in the production the drawings are done by other people, the voicings are done by the seiyuus, so when the movie is completed I always savour the feeling of surprise. They move like this, their voices are like this, with emotional excitement I always say my feed backs and I am always looking forward to that.
What bits do you want everyone to focus on? Kubo: “The relationship between Ichigo and Rukia. Their change in their own feelings
Finally at last, got any message to the fans? In this year’s movie the theme of “Back to the beginning” is shown in the movie. Compared to the other movies I believe this one is the one which has the closest link to the original work, and giving a link to the first chapter was not seen in the anime or the original manga and I think that is something very special. I think a fan that loves the original manga would love the work. I think I made a movie where even if you touched Bleach first by watching this movie you would end up wanting to read the original manga. Please enjoy it!
Oh heck yes, “I think a fan that loves the original manga would love the work. I think I made a movie where even if you touched Bleach first by watching this movie you would end up wanting to read the original manga. Please enjoy it!” I firmly believe that all of Bleach fans who love this movie, are either IchiRuki or nonshippers/multi-shippers, so Ichihime were outcast in this movie by Kubo?
While Kubo keeps reminding us that he WAS in charge of making story for ‘Fade to Black’ (aka an IchiRuki movie) let’s not forget the fact that for the 4th movie (aka a movie with a very very little Ichihime oneside scene), Kubo wanted his name out of the credit in the movie because he really didn’t participate that much in it. And he thought that ichigo is a bit OOC.
Now that’s a butt hurt.
Ok back to:
“It’s not friendship but it’s not an amorous feeling either. With these two’s relationship, I think there is no other relationship like them in other works where despite both standing in a very close position with each other it is not romance. (laughs)”
When he said this, the manga was in the middle of Hueco Muendo arc, but remember the famous: ‘The changes in their feelings’?
A lot has happened since then and…
Somethings for extra:

Ichigo… Look where your hand is on Rukia’s body…
