If you’re like most coffee drinkers, you’re always on the lookout for ways to make your coffee drinking experience easier and more convenient. That’s where coffee pods or also known as capsules come in. Coffee capsules are small containers filled with coffee grounds that can be used in special coffee machines, like the Nespresso brand or any Nespresso Compatible machine. In this blog post, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about coffee pods: how they work, what to look for when buying them, and more!

WIP Wednesday: Devil in the Details
I heard my wonderful beta @rosanna-writer say something about a Feysand group project? How are we feeling about the intersection of coffee shop AUs and the secret baby trope?
Tumblr media
…the little silver bell over the front door gives a sharp chime, slicing through the low hum of magic and murmured conversation. A cool gust of early morning air sweeps in, carrying the salt-and-citrus scent of the city with it, and on its heels a tall, golden-haired female that Feyre has never seen before drifts inside, the ribbons of her teal gown fluttering gracefully around her strong, bare legs.
She knows she's never seen this woman before because she stands in the doorway like most newcomers who are unfamiliar with Falling Star do, eyes flicking this way and that as they drink up the chaotic jumble of the place. To the left, a wall covered in bins full of mismatched, secondhand art supplies and faeries seated at minuscule tables; to the right, a gallery of paintings and tapestries and sculpture for sale, a discordant clash of mediums and techniques. At the back of the shop, a cluttered counter is covered in a dozen different kettles and coffee presses and jugs—one for every strange new blend of coffee or tea the owner devises in her little workshop on the second floor—in addition to the packed pastry case and, well…
And the shopgirl with a baby strapped to her chest.
Feyre can tell the instant the golden female in the doorway spots them. Her head tips like a particularly curious cat, her lips parting as she studies the bulging angles of Nyx's wings through the silk of his wrap—
And Feyre feels a bit of instinctive defensiveness rise up. The freshly washed cream pitcher she's drying off with a clean towel clatters to the counter, and she splays her hands over her son's back.
"Good morning!" she says with forced pleasantness before the female can voice the morbid curiosity that Feyre has come to expect from strangers.
How precious! Whose is he?
Yours?
But… how? With the wings, I… You know…
Her polite, plastered-on smile becomes a bit more genuine when the female twitches and, with apparent difficulty, meets her eyes.
"Welcome to Falling Star Coffee Roasters & Art Supply. How can I serve you?"
The female pauses. "Excuse me?"
"Coffee or tea?" Feyre lifts a hand off of Nyx's back and points firmly at the menu above her head. It's enchanted to update each morning with what is available, thank the Mother for yet another small mercy, and Feyre has been experimenting with giving new customers no choice but to order from the menu before they can demand yet another impossibly difficult, spellbook potion. "We have about half a dozen different roasts, and several house blends of tea. Freshly squeezed juice, too. It's pomegranate today."
"No, I," the newcomer starts. Her eyes, feline and tilted, flicker up to the menu before she shakes her head. "I…"
Feyre's eyes narrow.
"We also have baked goods…" she tries, enunciating her words carefully. Slow and firm—the best way to deal with challenging customers, she's found.
"Oh?" The female's question is distant. She nods slowly, her brow furrowing as she surveys the sparkling glass case, because she is evidently flabbergasted by the concept of a shop serving breakfast and hot drinks. "I don't… That is, that's not—"
"Here for materials, then?" Careful not to bump Nyx's diapered bottom against the hard marble edge, Feyre leans over the counter and points at the bins that had first drawn her to the cafe like a moth to a flame. But the female doesn't look at those; Feyre watches as her coffee-colored eyes go directly to the fussy ribbon of darkness one of the High Fae seated by the window is still patting. "It's all secondhand, but it's priced fairly. Brushes and chisels are half off this week, and next week we'll be restocking fabric scraps and remnants."
Jostled, Nyx gurgles, his little legs kicking. After four months of motherhood, Feyre is seasoned enough to anticipate the tiny sock that flies right off his foot and lands on the counter, and she reaches for it with a silent sigh— but pauses as she catches the female's eyes darting back to her son, sharp and curious, catching on the chubby, golden-brown foot now wiggling in the air.
She stares, silent for a beat too long, as if her train of thought is completely decimated by the sudden appearance of baby toes. Her lips part slightly, the intensity in her expression startling in its suddenness.
And then a spark flares to light in those eyes, and an immediate weight in the atmosphere makes the small hairs at the back of Feyre's neck rise. Her mouth fills with the coppery taste of foreign, Night Court magic, and for a moment she feels stripped bare beneath that gaze. As if the female in the doorway can see through Nyx, through her clothes, through her flesh, and right into the very heart of her.
A hushed shuffle and a low murmur of voices break the tense silence, the other customers shifting uncomfortably, all of their eyes glued to the female in the doorway as the burst of power falters and she stumbles backward a couple of steps.

WIP Wednesday
thanks for the tags @rookinthecrownest @nonagesimus @rookamell @flowersforthemachines @beachhotdog !!
have some Nazri feeling like a love sick teen. im still kinda working out the early days of their relationship, but have solidly decided that naz starts sleeping in the pantry occasionally after the blood of arlathan because the god-brain fight has them distrusting their grip on reality.
Their voice is hoarse. They can tell without even speaking, the way their throat feels like it's lined with dust, thick with yesterday's emotion. They maybe over did it.  Then again, can you over do it when there's Venatori up your ass and two ancient asshole's are having a very loud millenia old grudge match in your head?  They barely remember making it back through the Eluvian. They definitely don't remember falling asleep in the pantry. Waking up there was disorienting... but nice.  Despite their instrusion (was it an intrusion...?) Lucanis had left a cup of coffee on the table beside his cot for them. The good beans and everything. The ones they know he keeps stashed in here away from Neve and her "affronts to The Maker and every coffee roaster in Thedas". They'd never refuted this complaint, but surely he has to know Tevinter style coffee is in fact boiled. It's good he's got some flaws.  They stretch, still lying on his cot, still wrapped in his blanket, their face curving into his pillow. It smells like him. It's... it's comforting. Despite the remnants of yesterday's splitting headache, they're the most relaxed they've felt since this whole mess kicked off. Maybe before that.  They smile.  Whatever's going on with them and Lucanis is new, spending the night in his bed is certainly an escalation. Its nice, they like him a lot, they like the way they feel when it's just the two of them. Thinking about it always summons this electricity in their chest, it makes them feel like a love struck teen sometimes.  They breathe in, relishing in the moment, the reality of their budding relationship washing over them. They've only kissed once, a week ago after dessert. It tasted like chocolate and coffee. The same blend he's left for them this morning. They laugh to themself, curling into his blanket with a content sigh.  The pantry door opens and his soft smile surges through them, a wave of that tender excitation washing over them. It's gentle, he's gentle. They don't miss the flush on his cheeks, even if they're at risk of getting lost in the warmth in his eyes.  "Rook?"

LIVIE I'M SO BEHIND ON XMAS PRESENT BUYING T_T Do you have any good gift recomendations for friends?
YES !!
for coffee ppl: local coffee shops in ur area likely have rly nice bags of whole beans (possibly from local roasters) that they will grind for you!! they might also have fun coffee accessories (french presses, hand grinders, pour overs, etc.) to go with it
for tea drinkers: some cafes also have proprietary tea blends that they sell in store, or things like matcha, matcha whisks/bowls, single use bags for loose leaf tea/steepers. if there are farmers markets in your area, I find that lots of stands tend to have herbal tea blends available bc they've dried up their herb harvest from the season to preserve it!!
thrift a cute vintage mug from and put together a little gift w coffee/tea/hot cocoa!! maybe some nice fuzzy socks.
everybody benefits from a nice lip balm at this time of year. hand cream too!!
if there are candle burners in ur life, get them a candle accessories set w a wick dipper, candle snuffer, and/or wick trimmer!! most ppl don't realize how much these things help in making sure ur candles burn clean all the way to the bottom. if you're looking for a slightly pricier gift, candle lamps are also RLY nice!!
if u have flower ppl on ur list lots of flower shops offer subscription services where u can pay for a set number of bouquets that can be delivered/picked up over multiple weeks/months!!

🎶 Now Playing: Laughter – Astrocolor, Wendy Rene
If there’s one thing about me, it’s that I cannot work from home. Too many distractions too much noise, and my brain is permanently scarred from every failed attempt. So naturally, I’ve become a coffee shop regular. Enter Four Five Roasters in downtown D.C. (2000 L St NW Washington, DC 20036) a spot I hoped would be the perfect blend of caffeine and productivity.
My First Impressions:
I walk in and immediately clock that it’s packed. Every seat is filled, and I already know my chances of getting an outlet are slim. I set my bag down and head to the counter. No greeting at first—the barista is too busy laughing and texting. (I used to work in a coffee shop, so I get it. One second it’s slow, and the next, a flood of customers appears.) I pretend to study the pastry case until I finally make eye contact, and boom, we’re in business.
The Setup:
I grab a seat near the glass doors, catching the occasional gust of wind every time someone walks in. The place is buzzing, almost everyone is wearing headphones, locked into their screens. It’s a Saturday at 3:45 PM, which also happens to be the first day of March, so I expected the weekend crowd.
No outlet in sight, but I make do. Across from me, another solo worker is knee-deep in her laptop. The energy here is focused, productive, but not stiff.
The Order:
Bacon, Egg & Cheese Croissant Sandwich 🥪
Seasonal Drink: Vanilla Pistachio Matcha 🍵 (** this was a drink I wanted to try but the pistachio threw me for a loop)
24oz Iced Latte (Almond Milk, Vanilla & Caramel) ☕
When my order is ready, I hear: “Ada, number 18.” That’s me. (Ada is my go-to alias to avoid the butchering of my real name, Amaogechi.) I opted for a takeout box, though normally they serve it on a plate.
First bite of the sandwich? Torch. Fluffy eggs, crispy bacon, buttery croissant. Top two, and it’s not two! I don’t even reach for my drink until I’m halfway through. The side salad with avocado lime ranch is a nice touch, but let’s be real, I’m here for the sandwich.
Productivity Check:
By 5:00 PM, the crowd starts thinning. The WiFi is solid, music a bit louder than I’d like, but not unbearable. I manage to:
✅ Start two summer internship applications
✅ Submit one to two assignments
✅ Plan my upcoming week
The only downside? My headphones died (rookie mistake), which I took as my cue to leave.
Final Thoughts:
This place is a bit pricey, I dropped $31.81 on my coffee and sandwich ($17.95 for the sandwich alone). If you’ve got FU money, it’s worth it. If not, maybe stick to a small coffee and pastry. But overall? A solid spot for getting work done.
Would I come back? Absolutely. Would I make sure my headphones are charged first? 1000%. Would I buy that sandwich again… maybe 🤭🤷🏾‍♀️

In a spotless forensic science laboratory in the basement of the east Texas branch of the Acme Detective Agency, Ruelle “Rue” Hargold worked dutifully. Now, Rue is an exceptional genius, as many who have met her like to brag about in their games of merry gossip.
Despite this, she would rather try her luck at being as impossibly inconceivable as a phantom haunting the halls of the Agency. Still, Rue often felt a sense of pride as she allowed the words to stroke her ego.
Rue’s concentration focused on the specimen of reddish soil found at the scene of the crime. She gently placed a dash of the broken terra onto a glass slide. “I hypothesize that the run-of-the-mill red clay is what I’m observing today,” Rue whispered to herself as she reached for the dropper full of watery solution.
She precisely landed a single droplet onto the flecks of dirt. “Now, I wonder what I shall uncover with this microscope,” she continued her narrative rambling.
Swiftly, she sandwiched the evidence with another clean slide. Her work was full of tiny, delicate movements that worked like a clockwork mechanism.
“Miss Hargold, I brought your frosted coffee,” a man’s voice called out. Rue, heavily focused on her work, didn’t hear her supervisor enter the laboratory.
The supervisor shook his head as he walked over with the cup of deliciousness. “Rue!” he shouted, just enough to break her concentration.
“Yes, Boss,” Ruelle responded before noticing the cup. “Oh, thank you, Ranger,” she continued as he placed it on her tidy desk.
A genuine smile crossed Ranger’s wrinkled face. He knew Ruelle needed to take a break from working on the mediocre evidence. He also knew it was futile, but he still encouraged her to analyze the evidence collected from the botched bank robbery on the corner of Fifty-Ninth Street and Main Street in their small town of Magnolia Falls, Texas.
She rolled over to her desk without even getting out of her chair. The cushioned office chair’s wheels squealed softly as she maneuvered toward it.
Ranger chuckled at the sight of his newest recruit. “She’s only been working here for six months,” he noted, truthfully. He had taken her in out of pity—and because work in this Acme jurisdiction was as empty as a tumbleweed.
She sipped her frosted coffee—a thick blend of vanilla ice cream and iced mocha made with a dark Arabian roast from their local cafe, The Roaster—while Ranger vented his frustrations about the broken water fountain and how he’d had to contact headquarters for repairs all the way in San Francisco, California. Rue nodded as she half-heartedly listened to her boss.
She hadn’t heard a single word. “Rue, did you hear anything I said?” he asked. She sheepishly grinned and sunk deeper into her chair.
“Sorry, Boss,” she grumbled, and he let out an exasperated sigh.
“I know, you’re hearing impaired and all, but I wanted to congratulate you on how earnest of an agent you are,” he admitted.
“Oh, I’m trying my best, sir,” she replied.
Her straw was thoroughly chewed up by the time she finished the frosted coffee, making Ranger jokingly wonder if Rue was part goat, since she clearly ate plastic. “Are you a goat?” he asked with a belly laugh, gesturing to the chewed-up straw.
Rue’s face turned as red as a tomato.
He playfully swatted her shoulder before urging her to continue her work. “Alright, I have to check on things in my office,” he explained before departing from the laboratory. Rue shrugged before going back to figuring out the exact type of red clay.

Sick today, so I'll either continue the knitting or do some mindless dungeon crawling in Oblivion
Yesterday I was kinda out of it, so I can't even remember if I did much knitting. Certainly not at night, then I just watched cooking videos one after another
According to the stitch counter, I've got 65/77 rows, but I'll double check just in case I bumped it accidentally
Also I'm probably going to be making and drinking lots of tea today. The coffee in the machine is kinda a disappointment - I bought a kilo bag from the roaster after liking a 250g bag of the same blend, but this time I'm just so far from enjoying it. I'm on the second fill of the beans, but yeah, I don't think I'll order another big bag like that. Can't wait to go back to Old Reliable (Mövenpick Der Himmlische). Might fuck around and add some sweetener. Not syrup because I'm not dealing with the sugar aftertaste today. I'm miserable enough already
Anyways, my main mission is to stay hydrated, cook a meal and get some food in, and also just. Hopefully get better. But also it's the cold so it's just whatever (you can't do much other than staying hydrated and eating some food and hoping it passes soon)
I should probably just shove the lunch in the oven (which will mean 2 hours of doing nothing before it's done), have some granola just to not run on empty, and knit
