from @blightoath Yes, we were going to get the treasure, but the bandits found it first. So then we fought.
“I see.”
Nathaniel’s eyes flex with concern as he looks the other Warden over, tentatively moving some of his clothes ever so lightly so he can see the extent of the wounds. Not too bad, all in all.
From the state of the other guys, it could have been much, much worse.
“I’ll fetch the healer, but you’re lucky it wasn’t worse,” he says. “I’m… pleased. That you’re alright.”

There's a barely contained smile playing around at the corners of his lips as he leans over. "You know, for a man with deft hands, you really suck at sewing. Give it here."
A huff of air escapes bird-like nose, akin to a laugh. Of course. The youth wasn't the first to poke fun at him for this, nor did Anders think he'll be the last. There was no hiding it, after all, with torn coat splayed across his lap a mess of thread and poorly spaced stitches; thumb sore from the sewing needle. In his defense, this wasn't a skill typically cultivated in the tower; outside of hobbyist pursuits that he himself had little interest in outside of patching up a single sentimental item. Most clothing repair was handled by Tranquil, much like the preparation of their meals among other things, and now with his new found form of freedom he himself was still learning in his spare time.
❝ Just imagine if didn't have magic to patch people up with. ❞ Anders jokes in turn, acquiescing and offering the item up. ❝ Here. I'm sure you'll find it a mess. ❞

Oh this was going to be a dangerous game. It was one thing to try and guess the age of an ancient elf. Their idea of time was on a whole different level. Their own age wasn't something that bothered them, generally.
They also, generally, had a bit of a hard time seeing anyone not ancient as being anything but a child themselves.
Avaras' guess was quite a ways off. Feyn gave a mock stern glare at Bruno. "Watch yerself, lethallin. I'm forty-two."
There was no heat to it though. His age was what it was. And so long as he didn't think about it too much, he wouldn't think about what getting older meant for a Grey Warden.
His sewing lowers for a moment as he turns a lopsided smile towards Avaras. "Ye did manage t'get one of us. Ye should take a second stab at Bruno."
His face breaks into a smile. "You think? Could be a statement," he says, then shrugs. "What goes around comes around, and all that."
It doesn't matter, really. What matters is the fun of it. It's easy for the oldest among them to look down their noses at the youngest. He's not sure if it knocks the haughtiest ones off their high harts, but it helps when a joke goes both ways. It feels more family, at least.
Speaking of, he's pretty sure Avaras knows they're talking about them.
"Oi, Avaras, I've a question for you." Their approach is hesitant, arms folded over their chest. "How old am I?"
Their nose wrinkles, their opinion on the absurdity of his line of question immediately evident. Not one to dismiss any question out of hand, however, they take a stab at it. A blind one. "Forty," they say unconvincingly, then add, "forty-two."
Looking sidelong at Feyn, his grin no shyer for having been caught. "Not bad for forty-two, eh?"

Feyn hummed. He might like Leliana, but he wasn't going to take the time to read in front of her. He didn't need that embarrassment eating up their time.
"You'll have ta do th' readin' yerself. But I'll let slip a lil preview." Feyn held out the first letter. "A lead on Corypheus' forces. Looks like he's huntin' somethin' in the Emerald Graves. There's some small groups there searchin' fer somethin', but they're not havin' as much luck as they wished, 'tween th' trees an' th' Orlesians."
He can't quite help the way his nose wrinkles at the mention of the Orlesian forces in his ancestral grounds, but he's quick to school his features back into a more pleasant neutral expression. At least until he puts the other letter on the desk with a sigh. "This one... I think some o' our agents are compromised. Letter reads fine on the surface, just some standard intel, but somethin' 'bout it... it's off."
@anecdotist:
Feyn slinks in through the dark, pulling down his hood as he quietly approaches Leliana's desk. From his bag he pulls two letters, waving them to make the first sound: paper sliding against paper. "Brought ye some news. Ye wanna hear th'good or th'bad first?" He separated the letters, both tilting back and forth in a little imaginary jig as he smiled. "Spymaster's choice, a'course."
Her mind is always a turbulent place—even more so as of late. Though she hears Feyn before she sees him, she makes no effort to convey this. She stands in front of her desk, eyes trained on a blank piece of parchment in front of her. Leliana has put off this correspondence long enough.
It will be even longer now, though, it seems.
“Why not read them both, and I will decide?” comes her counter-offer as she pushes the blank page aside with a lingering glance. “Go on, then.”

feyn isn't showing much of his deterioration re: the blight. there's no real physical changes, aside from his fingertips starting to get a little darker.
the real problem is that he can hear the song in the background--ignoreable, but clearly there--before datv. the second the sixth blight started, he can hear the blight's song and ends up humming it under his breath at times, or if he stops for too long, stares off into space just caught up in it.

something about feyn losing his faith in the creators after the death of his brother, but seeing the maker save the hero of ferelden. wondering why the maker has intervened for his chosen but not a single one of his gods have lifted a finger for him, his brothers, or his people. getting jealous, never tempted to convert, just disappointed and grappling with what it means to just have stories in place of people

feyn is vehemently against getting his vallaslin removed. maybe for ancient elves it was a mark of slavery, but in this age, for him, it's the opposite--it's the mark of his freedom as a dalish elf. and when other cultures see his vallaslin, they'd better remember that he's not submitting to anyone's ego, law, or customs but his own

i do realize that there is no "war room" in datv which is silly considering they're traipsing around all of northern thedas and a map would be very helpful, even if they have eluvians. hell, a map of where the eluvians even are would be a key planning point.
feyn rearranges the meditation room--he hates that fish tank (who put him to sleep in a room that doesn't get dark??? blue light at that??? solas truly hates rook). he moves one of the bookshelves to a different spot and uses that wall to have a map of thedas, with pins, string, notes, letters--everything he needs to plan. he then puts a table underneath that, as a place to drop relevant stuff if he's not there. then the sofa faces it, so he can sit there and stare and think. and probably fall asleep staring at it. and wake up to continue staring at it.
#blightoath / headcanon.#blightoath#[ i'll have to think about what feyn's actual room ends up looking as a companion ]#[ tho i imagine if the lighthouse *had* a 'war room' or a planning space ]#[ that's where feyn would end up ]

@aestuum | casadh & feyn | family memories
Feyn leaned against the outside of the house, half-listening to the low conversation inside. The sudden surge of Blight in the Hossberg Wetlands had left the people of Lavendel on their back foot, and the fall of Weisshaupt hadn't helped either. The run-down village struggling to recover, let alone feed themselves, now suddenly had a small, dispirited army to support as well.
Casadh had insisted on coming to check on some of the people here. He'd seen the guilt in their eyes, had known that this was their way of trying to make up for their perceived failures.
He wasn't sure what else there was to say. Everyone had failed at Weisshaupt. The only upside to the entire endeavor was that an Archdemon was dead, but even the relief that should bring was muted. Ghilan'nain was still alive. Lusacan was no doubt being risen, if the Archdemon wasn't already at large.
And Solas was still trapped in the Fade.
Feyn pushed off the wall as Casadh exited the house. His eyes skimmed over their expression, trying to figure out the best way to handle them as he readied a kind smile. "Any luck with yer sleepin' patient?"

feyn's clan, isethari, has specific traditions around ear piercings for representations of marriage.
generally ears will be pierced in the same place for both couples, with an earring of the same material--gold, silver, platinum, iron bark, all materials are fine.
the couple will pierce each other's ear sometime after the ceremony and before the dawn of the next day.
the earrings magically seal themselves into solid loops of material after dawn.
each five years, they add a chain, and each ten years, they add another piercing. couples with very long marriages end up with lots of earrings connected by chains.
divorce requires ripping the earrings out of each couples' ears.
death of a spouse releases the sealing spell on the deceased's earrings and generally results in the surviving spouse taking the earrings and chains and adding it to their ears as double piercings and chains.
remarriage isn't common, but is usually signified by piercing of the other ear, or, in extremely rare cases, nostril or eyebrow piercings.
it was a bit of a culture shock when feyn got to denerim and saw a bunch of people just casually having pierced ears and openly piercing ears.
