9 "I birthed him myself!" WangXian Mpreg Fic List

This list was asked for by @yiling-laozu-is-loml but is open to all!!

NOTES: I ADORE this fic. I love any fic in which Madam Lan is alive and well and we have mythical hybrids. This one is so damn sweet, honestly good on Lan Zhan for setting his boundaries and sticking to them. The mpreg is really a little bonus (a/b/o pregnancy), it is mostly these two Huli Jins falling in love in a sweet little slowburn.

2 A Thousand Paths, a Single Mountain (138898 words) by RohansEarings

NOTES: This story is lengthy and does have a good ending but getting there is very hurt/comfort. This features handwavy cultivation magic male pregnancy but as a last resort. A CW for homophobia (wangxian wants to adopt but because they are cutsleeves there is discrimination) and pregnancy loss that causes the characters significant distress. I do promise a happy ending though! The focus is very much mpreg of this story.

NOTES: okay you might be asking, "how do you have an mpreg story when the main character is dead basically the entire fic" I do not answer the question but I do respond "GodWWX/accidental God of Children- Xiangege". This story is very sweet and takes so many twists and turns. Lan Zhan is the most dedicated partner omg. At times it has very crack fic energy (enter the most bizarre dream scape pregnancy and wedding), but I promise it's a good read.

The Gusulan Sect wouldn’t have let a child of one of their twin jades be killed, even if his mother was the Yiling Patriarch himself. /OR/ The self-indulgent one where I create a Wangxian lovechild and go nuts.

NOTES: This fic says it's under 10k words BUT it is part one of a 21 part series. In which WY has Lan Zhan's biological child (OC) as well as adopts a-yuan. Canon still happens and WY comes back. It has some angst, it has some fluff, and it has a happy ending! The other parts also contain an au of this au with a fix it- so if that interests you there is a LONG read ahead.

NOTES: A modern au with hand wavy biology. Lan Zhan, on a trip, knocks up WY unknowingly- finds him again later. WY sure is pregnant and Lan Zhan is definitely the father. The pining and miscommunication is so wild in this fic but the ending is solid!

NOTES: The Mama Mia! AU I didn't know I needed. This story was incredible- light angst (but still some) and a relationship that finally comes together. It really follows much of the plot and A-Yuan is getting married! Who is his dad though....(jk it really can only be Lan Zhan).

BONUS FICS: "I birthed him myself!" (not really, but the cultivation world needs better sex ed).

Was it the time that Wei WuXian took his forehead ribbon at the Wen Discussion Conference Archery Competition?—he’d have to ask Brother. As a physician, Wen Qing has to suffer fools constantly; if Lan WangJi is determined to be Wei WuXian’s baby daddy, she wasn’t going to stop him, especially if it could save them all. And if it leads to some misunderstandings on the topic of marriage and propagation—well, it is not Wen Qing’s fault if Lan WangJi became the world’s best and worst matchmaker, making sure that children everywhere had parents. Fic is finished at 34 chapters and about 175,000 words. But as I read through before posting chapters those numbers may fluctuate.

NOTES: I honestly may have already shared this fic but I'm not even upset by it because poor Lan Zhan LOL. Also Wen Qing deserves an oscar for her performance; the fact that the entire cultivation world truly believes Wei Ying birthed a-yuan, Lan Zhan's biological son is WILD. A fic about saving the wen's through the worlds biggest (but best) misunderstanding.

The Jins want to show the evils of the Yiling-Laozu, the Jiangs hope everyone will see Wei WuXian the radish farmer. Lan XiChen felt guilty and sent Lan WangJi on a night hunt. They make assumptions when they see Wei WuXian having lunch with Lan WangJi and a toddler in Yiling. And sometimes assumptions don’t make an ass out of anyone, but save everyone.

NOTES: This is literally one of the funniest fucking things I have ever read. I am not even exaggerating. These two weirdos are over there being their adorable mpreg kink selves not knowing they are being watched by every great sect, their leaders, and the gods themselves in a live broadcast. This fic ft's Lan Qiren qi deviating in a corner, Lan Xichen and Jiang yanli planning a shotgun wedding, contracts flying across the room, lots of yelling, and Jin Guangshan having a VERY bad day. 100/10 recommend.

17 Novel Canon Cultivation WangXian Fics

This is rec list two for @yiling-laozu-is-loml

Here are some of the parameters of the list:

Cultivators in ancient China based WangXian fics

Long form fics only (I tried to stick to 50K plus - most are longer- and all are completed fics).

Canon based on novel only! No yin iron plot CQL plotlines (though some of these do include some donghua but minimal)

BottomXian if applicable only

can include: canon divergent, fix-its, and time travel (I included all of the above)

I'm not going to lie I had to cut out so many of my favs because of the Yin Iron plot BUT I still think I put together a stellar list.

Wei Wuxian had said many things that had angered the illustrious Second Jade in the past. When he had been in Cloud Recesses as a youth, it had been Wei Wuxian’s favorite hobby. But he realized had never managed to truly enrage Lan Wangji with anything he had said until this moment. - - - - The Lan sect has been putting pressure on Lan Wangji to find a cultivation partner. They don't like the one he chooses.

NOTES: Baby WY has a journey to discover his self worth in this fic. The canon divergence happens after he's kicked out of cloud recesses and the subsequently kicked out of the Jiang sect via Madam Yu. There is a rogue cultivator WY plotline paired with Sect pressure for Lan Zhan to get a cultivation partner and the stubborn man vs oblivious man 230k is fantastic.

3 like speaking to my heart (613672 words) by SnowshadowAO3

Chapters: 42/42 Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Additional Tags: Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, Alternate Universe - Daemons, Slow Burn, Hurt/Comfort, Angst with a Happy Ending, Canonical Character Death, Some people live!, And some people still die in this fic it's just a matter of who STAYS dead and who is really dead ;), additional warnings in specific chapters, if you don't know what daemons are that's ok because I explain it in the author's note, also by slow burn I VERY much mean slow burn Summary: Wei Wuxian is staring up at the sky, thinking idly about the taste of Emperor’s Smile on his tongue, when Suibian jumps full force onto his stomach and cries, “A-Xian, don’t be mad!” The sheer force of her pounce knocks the breath out of him. The resulting pause is just long enough for Jiang Cheng, who up to this point has been laying rather peacefully next to him, to shoot up and demand, “Oh great, what did you do now?” To be fair, the question isn’t exactly unwarranted. Suibian looks an absolute mess: twigs stuck in her fur, dirt smeared across the white fluff of her underbelly. She’s panting up a storm, little heh heh heh gasps that haven’t edged into her normal high-pitched laughter. When her ears press back against her head, she could almost pass for pitiful. “Bichen hates me.” Wei Wuxian’s first thought is Why would Lan Zhan’s daemon hate you?, but it’s followed quickly by remembering exactly where he is, how little trouble he’s caused today, and the fact that he hasn’t seen Suibian for a few minutes. A grin spreads across his face. (Or: The most important name a cultivator will ever pick isn’t for their sword. It’s for their daemon.)

NOTES: This is still ancient china cultivators but has a little bit of au due to cultivators having daemons. It loosely follows the book plotline as well but is canon divergent. I honestly did not expect to love this 600k fic so much but it had my HEART. I fell for the plot as well as the sentient daemons and the role they play in helping these two sort out their feelings.

NOTES: A solid fix-it from Qiongi Path. WY dies and wakes up mid battle with enough time to save Zixuan. This changes the timeline for the best but at the expense of their established relationship in the alternate timeline. A little bit of mourning there, but still a happy ending though!

He was dead to the world and for the first time wondered what it would be like to live for his own sake. Or: Wei Ying meets Lan Zhan after the war, both broken and searching for purpose. Wen Qing will do everything to save her little brother. Jiang Yanli learns that not every problem can be solved by soup alone.

NOTES: The story of what happens the war if no one knew that Wei Ying survived AND won the war for them. This has such a beautiful relationship between Lan Zhan and Wei Ying and features a jailbreak of (alive!) Madam Lan. It's healing and wonderful, but also expect the angst. Fear not though, it has a happy ending! BONUS: it does have a prequel which is part 1 in the series. Also very good but Lan Wangji POV and Wei Wuxian is presumed dead.

6 Vow (216627 words) by draechaeli

NOTES: A fun God!WWX fic in which the vow that WY made and the belief in the Yilling Patriarch brings him back. Such a solid fic, I love the way that WY goes from hated demon to loving deity of children, women, and those in need. He does die in this and is mostly dead for a good portion of it but it is worth it for the reunion and wholesome hoard of children he collects.

NOTES: This fic premise is absolute crack! and is one of my favourite niche crack! fic themes. In which the joke "I birthed him myself" is taken literally and the cultivation world truly believes the Yilling Patriarch and Hanguang-jun had a child together. So good, bless Wen Qing in this fic honestly.

It's a dark, dark night, but the sun will rise eventually.

NOTES: This is one of my favourite BAMF WWX fics. It is VERY dark, and Lan Zhan is not okay in the majority of this fic but my goodness is it fantastic. WWX does get his hand cut off and then proceeds to be tossed into the burial mounds but his new hand and demonic cultivation are so rad. Worth it for the pain!

NOTES: Another fantastic time-travel fix it in which WWX post the tragic loss of his husband and son builds an array to go back. In it he befriends and recruits the antagonists of the main timeline and fixes things. This was so good- especially if you like morally grey characters and want a bit of Meng Yao and Xue Yang redemption.

Bonus for Wei Wuxians parents being alive!

He takes them both back to Lotus Pier, because he's not leaving anyone to die on his watch, and they both need medical care. Then they just end up…staying. At least Lan Wangji is as unimpressed with the situation as Jiang Cheng is. (Jiang Cheng and Lan Zhan accidentally become co-parents and have to deal with the repercussions)

NOTES: This is the Jiang Cheng & Lan Zhan platonic coparenting fic I didn't know I needed. It was so healing and while WWX is dead for a good chunk of this he does come back. This is a fantastic fic if you want some hurt/comfort, mourning, and healing energy. I will warn it does have a lot of hurt and the Lans come under scrutiny (justifiably). But happy ending!

After avenging his own death, he finds his way to Yiling.

NOTES: Very cool fic in which WY dies by Wen Zhuliu's hand and becomes a creature of resentment. He turns into a very cool undead water spirit with incredible power. He saves the wens, has a child, and gets the boy in the end. This story is for the monsterfuckers but don't let it fool you, it is kind of tragic. I swear there is a happy ending but the pain is rough.

If only he could stop being so hungry.

NOTES: Okay this fic is actually rad as hell. The premise is so cool- WWX landing in the burial mounds and DYING but transformed. If you like vampiric energy but also God!WWX vibes this is the fic for you. It moves fast but the plot is so cool.

Lan Qiren realizes there is something awfully suspicious going on with the relationship between the Jiangs and Wei Wuxian and mentors WY quite a bit

Happy happy ending but it is very negative towards the Jiangs- heads up!

Okay not going to lie this starts off horrifically. The child abuse in chapter 1 rattled me, but it immediately gets better

The image of Wei Wuxian, breathing hard and uneven, his face drawn and his body taut with constant shivers, was a sharp contrast to his typically radiant and carefree appearance. Lan Wangji was struck by the sight, frozen in place, his heart thumping rapidly in his chest. He didn’t know what to do, how to help him.

(Or, Wei Wuxian is afraid of thunderstorms and Lan Wangji wants to help, but don’t know how.)

This is another fic with horrible horrible child abuse

Lan Qiren learns some things about WY's life and says fuck Madam Yu specifically.

7 but I figured it out, then made my way back by MichelleFeather (19, 318)

Summary: It was an extreme, a desperate decision fueled by anger towards the entire cultivation world, a grief deeper than the deepest trenches in the ocean. The realization that Lan Wangji would now have to continue on living a second time without his beloved, where Wei Wuxian had died once again. Where, once more, his love had been taken from him by cruel, unrighteous men who thought they knew better, that they were doing the world a justice.

Lan Qiren had seen the state that his nephew had been in after Wei Wuxian’s first death, what Lan Wangji had done in his grief then, and he feared what Lan Wangji would do to himself if he was left alone with this repeated grief.

Lan Qiren will do anything for his nephews including bending reality and breaking his own rules

Time travel fic with lan qiren and lan wangji!

once again this is jiang bashing- i find with a lot of good uncle lan qiren fics that the jiangs are typically vile (I mean canon but usually worse).

8 Mutations in the Rumor Mill by Bodldops (30, 376)

Summary: Everyone says that Lan Qiren hated Cangse Sanren. Everyone knows that as fact.

Or, at least, everyone has heard that repeated as fact.

Lan Qiren never bothered to tell anyone otherwise. He regrets doing so.

Lan Qiren took one look at WY and said- this is for sure Cangse's child and he's definitely being sneaky rn

WY didn't need discipline- he needed a challenge.

Warning again for mistreatment of WY via the Jiangs.

9 All will be well when the day is done by abCEE (76, 082)

Summary: The one where Yu Ziyuan time traveled but she thought that it was her visions of her alternate life.

She learned that there is a brat named Wei Ying who brought destruction to her and her family's life.

And so in her present, she vowed that she will never allow that to happen.

In which Yu Ziyuan found the four-year-old Wei Ying, newly pushed out of the inn where his parents left him, and decided that no, this child must never be associated with her, her family, and their sect at all.

And so Yu Ziyuan thought that she could bring him somewhere where someone may or may not find him but definitely far from where her husband could find him. If he's lucky, he'll survive that winter, if he's not, then death awaits the fevered child.

This is the extent of mercy that Yu Ziyuan could give a child.

With this, she'll raise her children without having to deal with a brat that brings trouble where he goes according to her visions of her alternate life.

Like the tag stated, this is definitely not Yu Ziyuan centric.

Madam Yu is absolutely VILE in this fic.

WY is raised by Lan Qiren! His life gets much better

There was a solid little twist in the end if I am remembering correctly

Summary: Lán Qǐrén thinks about different Lan rules when Wei Wuxian brings up resentful cultivation in class.

Everything goes better from there.

Seriously, everything.

We love it when Lan Qiren is challenged and isn't awful about it

The class is learning together and good things are happening

this is mostly in the study arc

11 Traveling in shadows, chasing your light by MusicMe_tc (21, 292)

Summary: "No, Lan Zhan, it won't! Why?! You still haven't told me why?! Why did you do that?! Why would you risk your life like this?!" He screams desperately again. The gentle hand goes up to the back of his head, bringing him forward.

And then, Lan Wangji whispers something to him.

He pulls back to look at Lan Wangji's face, to see if there's any hint of that being a joke, or a lie hidden underneath, but all he sees is the truth.

Or: Lan Wangji gets hurt while protecting Wei Wuxian in Nightless City. Lan Xichen, Lan Qiren and Wei Wuxian nurse him back to health in Burial Mounds, and there, everyone learns they might’ve been wrong all along.

Lan Qiren starts out as kind of a dick but learns the truth and he gets better

A little bit of angst because burial mounds and LZ is not well

Happy ending though!

This rec list had the majority votes on my wangXian rec list poll, and honestly I didn't even realize how many fantastic time-travel fics I had collected.

Note: all of these fics are tried and true; meaning I have vetted, read, and cherish all of them. If you would like a personalized rec list theme for Wangxian DM me, I love making these lists!

These time travel fix-its all focus on Wangxian in particular though the time travelers vary (and the time plot varies).

I tried to keep the choices expansive; the plots are all wildly different, the ratings vary, and tone of the fics ranges from crack to Angst Angst Angst.

NOTES: This was a SOLID Yummengbros fix. I loved that it was Jiang Cheng who went back to fix the plot. This fix it starts with the canon we know in the end; WY and his husband in cloud recesses, Jin Ling being prepared to lead the Jin's, and Jiang Cheng alone. It is a solid time travel fix and I love that it is Jiang Cheng led.

Note: this is more of an alt timeline rather than a time travel fix-it but it really is close enough.

NOTES: Oh man I love this fic so much. This fic does start off really damn sad, but it ends up positive! Wei Ying really goes through it at the beginning, this boy has compound trauma for sure. The real reason I love this fic is that Wei Ying is over here with sheer determination, future knowledge, AND has been recruiting the 'villains' the entire time. Such a solid fic.

NOTES: I will start off with MIND THE TAGS. This does feature child grooming by definition, it does have an adult in a child's body. I would classify this as Very Dark Lan Zhan. Lan Zhan goes back to the first time him and wangxian meet (donghua canon) and they are children- he essentially manipulates his uncle and brother to take Wei Ying with them to cloud recesses. Plot twist- it was not only Lan Wangji who went back in time.

NOTES: This starts off so upsetting; Guanyin Temple does not go as planned and the party uses a last resort to send the kids back in time. These poor babes have so much trauma and now have to prevent the future from happening again. The angst is worth it!

NOTES: I have shared this before and YES I did cry reading it. This has a VERY dark baoshan Sanren, it's more of a modern au- but there is time travel and the time travel feels very epistolary (read: fucking heartbreaking letters over lifetimes). It does have a happy ending but honestly the cost was worse than canon. That all being said- it was a really good fic, but you might need tissues for this one too.

It does get better but I did cry a fuck-ton reading this. This is the AU in which the dafan wen's (they are enslaved and work in a brothel owned by Ruohan and co) take in WY from childhood and he is basically groomed by Wen Ruohan and squad to be their most deviant customer's favourite sex worker (he is tortured for their pleasure i cannot state how terrible it was). BUT He does get a very happy ending, lots of mental health and physical support and it does end with Wangxian in the softest of ways. I know I spoked a lot about the trauma but it was very good I promise.

In this AU WY is not a cultivator but brilliant with talismans, wangxian still happens (the most romantic first meet), and the jins have the day they deserve in the end. So sweet!

If he's lucky, he'll survive that winter, if he's not, then death awaits the fevered child. This is the extent of mercy that Yu Ziyuan could give a child. With this, she'll raise her children without having to deal with a brat that brings trouble where he goes according to her visions of her alternate life. Like the tag stated, this is definitely not Yu Ziyuan centric.

NOTES: Listen, I know this is more of a time travel fic (loosely) BUT it still results in WY being raised in the Lan sect (good uncle lan qiren fics are my life blood). The three jades of lan have a MUCH better time, wangxian romance, the war is averted, and we get a sneaky little twist in the end! A solid fic.

Lan Wangji learns to come to terms with this (eventually).

NOTES: WY was raised by Baoshan Sanren and turns up at cloud recesses once he descends the mountain. This was a cute read and doesn't really dig deep into wangxian as a couple but it is the story of them falling in love (adorable). I love a good Gusu study arc and this was very much that.

Or, in which Jiang Fengmian is unaware of what happened to Wei Wuxian's parents and Nie Mingjue takes him in and the story continues from there…

NOTES: Another sweet sweet Nie sect adopts WY fic. This fic really broke my heart i'm not going to lie pals. It does have a very happy ending but it also includes 16 years of WY away from civilization (he is not dead but is in the burial mounds fixing some things that happen to him). NOTES: I love an OF plotline and this one is exceptionally good. It has a happy ending so no stress with his moral angst! NOTES: So a few things with this fic; first it takes the prompt social media a little lighter as in social media is used for healing and there are social media talks but it isn't the forefront of the fic, second CW if you struggle with depression this fts that heavily and in a descriptive way. So heads up there. This fic is stunning, it's about healing, recovery, autonomy and love. That being said, your boy Wangji really goes through it in this fic. The poor guy is Not Okay. It is a beautiful fic though and he does get better.

NOTES: Okay way less crack, this fic actually made me tear up. A wholesome journey Sizhui centric in which he goes on a reality TV show to find his Xian-ge. The "show" was so beautifully narrated and "produced" and the ending ultra sweet.

NOTES: Another fantastic mafia/gang/crime au by 2501987. This one features a rule abiding body guard LWJ and the Yiling Patriarch and resident baddy WWX. This fic includes SO MUCH pining but LWJ is a PROFESIONAL (mostly) and would NEVER (he absolutely does) hit on his employer. Meanwhile WWX does everything in his power to make LWJ break. Solid fic, I love their flirtations.

It's got a solid plotline, A/B/O dynamics, gangs/clans, and so much plotting and scheming! Can our bby boy Wei Ying catch a break? Maybe!? Anyways a fantastic longform crime au but again, i cannot stress this enough, mind the tags.

But things go dangerously wrong, and instead of a group of actors, Wei Wuxian is abducted by merciless men working for the most dangerous crime lord in the country. If his family cannot find a way to save him for real, the night may well end in murder… A loose fusion with the movie Game Night

NOTES: I LOVE this author so much, one of my all time fav WangXian Au writers. This author does such a good job of setting and describing a scene and then making you feel too many things. This is less directly Wangxian in the crime/gang au and more so them (read: WY) being affected by the AU. Truly when the murder mystery game night is TOO damn real.

And that’s if the cops don’t take him in for vagrancy. “Wangji?” Wangji looks up. Please don’t be a serial killer. “So, we’re closing up for the night, but A-Yuan and I live upstairs. Do you want to join us for dinner?” Wangji blinks. His head bobs in what’s probably a yes. “Great!” Fuck. Or a ragged monosyllabic man wearing a collar shows up at Wei Ying's music store. Wei Ying and A-Yuan ask, is anyone going to adopt this guy? And then they don't wait for an answer.

NOTES: Okay, buckle up. Full disclosure your boy Wangji is Not Okay in this fic. Steer clear if descriptions of child abuse, torture, grooming bother you (they should be tagged honestly, even though it is a past mention, it was still so painful to read). This fic does have a happy ending but there is a ton of angst in it. This is another not quite Wangxian in the gang but rather linked/affected by the gang/mob.

The creature threw back its hood to reveal itself. “Wei Ying?” Lan Wangji asked, incredulous. “I didn’t know where else to go,” Wei Wuxian said as he crumpled to the floor. After being gone for years, Wei Wuxian reappears on Lan Wangji's doorstep, and he's not alone.

NOTES: A shorter fic that is a child acquisition fic but also an impacted by the gang (sort of and loosely) fic. I love a solid "Lan Zhan is not the step father but the father who stepped up" plotline. Any fic in which Lan Zhan see's WY with a child and is like "I must keep and protect both of them" is my absolute favourite. Anyways this is basically a bunch of fluff.

And he certainly doesn’t expect to acquire A-Yuan in the middle of a job. WTF do two assassins do with a child? Put him in daycare, of course. A Buddy Daddies AU.

NOTES: When two assassins acquire a baby- what do they even do?? The answer is coparent, and also fall in love LOL. This is an adorable little fic that I absolutely wish was longer and made into a slowburn because the plot was such a brilliant idea. Two Assassins and a Baby makes a good cleanser between fics.

NOTES: I love this fic so much. I love when WY is a 'criminal' but all of the acts he was charged for were because he was being just- it feeds my activist heart. That paired with him being the best at hacking is so solid in this. Bless LZ for being as open as he is in this story!! This is a solid hacker with magic fic.

Notes: Okay I know this entire premise is screaming crack, but it is super cute LOL. Genius inventor WY has a lot going for him, but one skill he does not have is in patents. He decides to visit a patent lawyer but then cannot stop harassing the guy. super crackish, definitely not BAMF, but no denying WY isn't brilliant. This is a solid palette cleanser of a fic.

It really cannot get more over-the-top dramatic. I also especially love that WY is a genius but acts as though he is aloof (even though he knows exactly what he's doing) it just adds to the vibes.

CW for mentions or child abuse though- it features a lot in this fic because that's what happens in pediatrics. But it has happy endings all around.

NOTES: I love this modern cultivator au because WY is straight up a secret genius. He is broke for sure but works so hard and does his job well (albeit a little bit unorthodox and wildly unsafe). This features both BAMF and genius WY and we get a slowburn with wangxian which is <chefs kiss>. We also get little a-yuan! Heads up there is angst in present and past but the ending turns out for Wangxian.

I cried so much in this fic; mainly because of how the author chose to tell the story. The writing was really cool and immersive. Normally I hate when I cannot distinguish the time/place of a scene but this was done so well. Bonus for added art! This is the fic with the yin wire

NOTES: Starting this list off with a bang- soulmate AU, reincarnated WY, and an immortal Lan Zhan who is really just out here living to find his man. I love this one so much because it has such good descriptions of WY's past experiences with Lan Zhan. I love the art imagery and WY being an artist. This was just a fantastic fic with a solid ending.

Lan Wangji looks down at the boy, who looks back up at him, and he’s still far too adorable for his own good. “Your father is perhaps too trusting,” Lan Wangji remarks. A-Yuan seems to consider this for a long moment before he nods resolutely in a way that tells Lan Wangji he has no idea what he means. “May I carry you?” A-Yuan is quick to let go of his leg to reach up instead, so Lan Wangji reaches down to pick him up under his arms and hoist him onto his hip where he settles heavily like a sentient sack of potatoes.

NOTES: This fic is tooth rot sweet. The speed in which Lan Zhan goes from "kids- indifference" to "I WILL adopt this child and his father" is staggering. It's very short, very cute, and mostly not WangXian but end game wangxian and an excellent cleanser of a fic.

It reeks of magic, wonder, horror, and everything in between, hidden in the shadows unless one dares to look. If one chooses not to see, they will never find a single hint that something different is amiss. As someone enamored with smartphones and laptops, Wei Wuxian never thought he would stumble upon the mystical. Until one day, his landlord couldn't see him. Or: Wei Wuxian dives headfirst into a shadowy world of magic, where he falls for a mythical figure and discovers a forgotten past.

NOTES: I honestly didn't expect to like this fic as much as I did- I was warry of the tag "Female Wei Ying" as it's not my speed usually BUT it ended up being a solid fic. I do love Foxxian fics and that paired with an eclectic hotel of magical beings ended up becoming sneakily endearing. This fic also has a solid "thawing ice prince/cunning fox" dynamic that is perfection.

Intentional bachelor WY has something coming for his sworn oath of singledom named Lan Zhan. Also- this fic features leather jackets!

In retrospect, he should have anticipated that this is how it would go.

NOTES: What do you do when you, an immortal, finally find your reincarnated soulmate on a cam site. Obviously- become their secret sugar daddy. The premise of this is wild but it's a good vibe. I do love when Lan Zhan is READY to rescue his man.

NOTES: Okay I will state that this fic is very crackish but it was so good. The pretty Woman AU ft sex worker WY and sugar daddy divorcee and absolute BITCH Lan Zhan. Okay I believe there is mention of Lan Zhan's ex but it clearly is not a love match at all and so wildly ridiculous that it didn't phase me (it is NOT a pairing I ever read or seek out either), so I hope that doesn't ruin this fic for you @yiling-laozu-is-loml.

NOTES: In which Wey Ying (idiot and carpenter) sort of kind of kid naps rich bitch lan zhan post a boating accident and convinces him (badly and not really) that they are in fact married. This is less age difference and more sugar daddy/gege energy BUT if you liked the film overboard, this is even better. Please watch while WY simultaneously sweats and falls in love with the man and hot mess he's created.

The young man is beautiful. He could, Lan Zhan thinks, be Lan Zhan's age, possibly a bit younger. He's tan, wearing a bright pink shirt with the restaurant logo on it, and cargo shorts. He has a small mole under his lower lip. "Hey, guys!" he greets with a wave. "Need a hand?" "Yes, please, if you don't mind," Lan Huan shouts back. He gets up and begins the preparations for docking, handing the young man several ropes. "Thank you, Wei Ying." Wei Ying. That's the boy's name.

NOTES: Lan Zhan has a summer he will never forget and falls for the Hot Boy working at the restaurant. There is a very slight age difference but mostly this is a status difference fic- Lan Zhan has big money money and is technically a customer so the dynamic is there. Anyways- solid fic, good ending :)

Notes: This fic absolutely gives fall energy. The vibes are rainy day nights, casual strolls, smoky jazz bar, and steaming hot drinks. I love this au so so much it really is a soul balm. It does ft a tiny tiny bit of angst, but the ending is solid. It's like the hot chocolate of fics.

Notes: I adore the pan coffee shop verse. each fic in the series brings a wholesome joy I did not know I needed. This coffee shop au screams rom com but also found family in community. I love the portrayal of xichen in this fic and I love how desperately lan zhan does not want to fall for wei ying. It's pure magic at pans!

Notes: This fic is less coffee shop being owned by one of the protagonists and more so coffee shop meet cute. ofc wei ying cannot leave the hot quiet guy with the fancy tea and gel pens alone in the cafe. What starts off rocky soon evolves into the cutest little slow burn. This truly is a fall coffee shop fic; so much pumpkin spice and cozy energy.

Notes: The summary is short and the fic only around 10k but I swear it is so cute. It starts with a new cafe that opens without having coffee and turns into the cutest little romance. Wei ying just keeps going back and falling more in love with the cafe owner and baker. Lan zhan just can't stop giving his new customer custom orders and free treats. They are absolutely adorable- this is pure fluff.

No coffee, but there was a blue teapot with a small matching cup and a plate with a steam bun on it. Wei Ying blinked stupidly at it for a few moments before deciding it wasn’t worth arguing with the scarily intense man over it, and reached for the bun. It looked so inviting, and it was still warm. Biting into it Wei Ying then realised just how hungry he was, and within seconds the bun had been devoured. It was the best thing he had ever tasted. A sleep deprived Wei Ying stumbles into a tea shop, meets an impossibly beautiful man, and is served a cup of tea that changes his life in more ways than he could have possibly expected. A modern day meet cute with heaps of Wangxian fluff, mutual pining, and A-Yuan adorableness galore!

NOTES: I love this fic so much because Lan Zhan is aggressively taking care of Wei Ying; the exhausted hot stranger who walked into his not even open yet tea shop. Wei Ying WILL drink the tea and WILL eat the snacks. Eventually Wei ying WILL come over to his house to have his laundry done and a place to relax and he WILL have the things he needs for his "son". It is absolutely so cute. Wei Ying never stood a chance XD. Also the speed in which lan zhan wants them to get together breaks the sound barrier.

6 Three Hundred and Fifty-Five Milliliters (3615 words) by magicites

He peers at Lan Zhan until he finally makes eye contact. “Tall. I mean it, Lan Zhan. Just. A. Tall.” - Wei Ying can't finish a venti frappe. Lan Zhan can't stop upsizing his drinks on the house.

Notes: A very short but cute fic- lan zhan is a simp and cannot help but continuously 'accidentally' upsizing all of wei yings orders. They are too cute in this. A small absolutely fluffy fic.

A very short fic but still cute. CW jin Zixun is terrible and touches lan zhan without consent - does not go very far. But heads up if that is something that is a hard no for you.

NOTES: I am not going to lie this fic is rough- as in emotionally intense and filled with characters going through tough things. BUT I swear there is a happy ending. It does not completely feature coffee shops but so much of the plot is dependent on a coffee shop that I think it still counts. This is so much angst my friends, but also a HUGE fic! Read with caution but I do promise the ending is solid and happy.

Xichen Centric Fics

This is a list of fics for @ladyprophet !

(If you are ever looking for a specific flavour of fic and want recs- DM me! I love recommending fics. Also check out my active tags for other rec lists. )

Some specifics about this list:

the pairings are not so important (this list will have a variety of Xichen pairings because most of the fics I have read and love with him are him in some sort of relationship)

Complex portrayals preferred!

pre-canon if possible (I dont know how many I have with pre-canon, most of what I have is aftermath or modern au's).

I have broken this list down into cultivation era and modern au's just for some differences. I have includes all varieties of fic rating and topic. Some of these are very crack! energy, some of them are heartbreaking; gotta have balance LOL.

Or: What happens when Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian have already gone back in time to fix everything that went wrong and Lan Xichen has, apparently, just been dragged along to share in the 'happily ever after'.

Thoughts:

This is one of those that has the balance of a happy ending but also a LOT of trauma that Xichen has to work through.

The time travel fix has already happened and for some reason, Xichen keeps the memories of the previous timeline.

There is so much healing but also mind the rating and tags!

This definitely falls into the category of crack! fic. It is quite funny

Canon occurred, xichen and wanyin got married, 12 years later they go back in time.

Xicheng are absolutely shameless post time-travel selves and everyone else's reactions are so so good.

There is a bunch of angst though, but I promise it works out

3. A Bit of Ruthlessness (110111 words) by jirluvien

For something warm and living and devastated. And as history has proved time and time again, the Lans are perfect victims when it comes to giving in to ghosts. Yeah, no. Not on Jiang Cheng’s fucking watch. A story about grief, determination, unexpected friendships, abandoned watchtowers, and letters. So many letters.

This one is a verion in which Jiang Cheng aggressively loves someone/bullies them into healing themselves

I am weak for fics where Xichen is very broken but heals, and this is one of them.

Another healing fic, but not what I expected it to be.

This is both xichen and Wanyin working through healing together but also the fate of the world may rest on them doing therapy

this includes some really neat astrology elements

I am once again here with another Xichen healing fic. This one though was different than the XiCheng seclusion healing trope.

There is mpreg in this- but it's less about gender/ABO and more that strong cultivators regardless of gender can do this- if that's important to you. I think the mpreg is pre fic but more might happen later I am not 100%

Thoughts:

This is the fic I was debating reading (I read it after same moon shines) and omg, I think it's one of my fav healing fics.

Both Xichen and Wanyin heal through the power of letters

They are idiots (miscommunication due to personal traumas), but the story ends well.

Okay this is more wangxian than xichen, but xichen is in it and the mingjue/xichen relationship is a mess (in the best of ways)

Xichen's love language is accidentally injuring mingjue (too flustered to function)

1 Wei Wuxian’s Guide to Hacking for Fun and Profit (150,301 words) by ArgentInferno

NOTES: This fic was honestly so cool! There are a couple techno-cultivator fics i've read and this casefic was light and wholesome with a unique plot. I love the idea of mixing tech and cultivation and this fic does a fantastic job with it. It also brings up some great themes around classism and power which is *chefs kiss *

2 Hear a song this deeply (87424 words) by so_shhy

NOTES: Interesting take on modernish (fantasy modern?) rogue demonic cultivator WY protecting the Wens (also including Baba WY- which has my entire heart to begin with). A bonus is that this fic ft's a smitten Wangji. This fic is also lovely in the MDZS way in that characters go through a dramatic worldview shift via one messy man.

3 Hanlong (282550 words) by micratus

That alone would have been fine, if his case partner wasn't that cold fish Lan Wangji. Yes, the same boring stick-in-the-mud Lan Zhan, with whom he has had an uneasy relationship when they studied together at the Cultivation Academy and whom he hadn't seen for more then five years…

NOTES: This fic was a great modern casefic with oblivious WY and I loved that WangXian has a past together. I will say it feels a little OOC at times, but I think this is mostly due to it being a translated fic. I enjoyed the story though!

4 All Old Things are New Again (51656 words) by The Feels Whale

Noted: Okay I LOVED this fic! Such a cool take on modern cultivation and Soulmate Au's. My heart for Lan Zhan in this fic- poor boy has been searching through time for his love's reincarnation. I also am a fan of sexworker/cam au's and this one is solid.

NOTES: This fic is a little more loosely modern day cultivator. There are cultivators but Lan Zhan does not know he is one- it'll make sense. Anyways! This is one of a couple ghost WangXian fics that I love. The backstory is tragic as hell, but the ending is happy I promise.

He's a respected cultivator in his thirties, with a son and a class of Lan disciples to teach. And then he becomes Lan Wangji, a respected cultivator in his thirties, with a son, a class of Lan disciples to teach and a fake husband who thinks he doesn't remember their wedding because of the accident, and Lan Wangji doesn't quite know how to tell him that there was no wedding at all. Wei Ying is not predictable. Wei Ying is the farthest thing from predictable; which is only confirmed when it turns out that he's been doing some lying of his own. In Lan Wangji's opinion though, neither that nor the conspiracy Wei Ying is trying to uncover matter as much as how his eyes crinkle at the corners when he laughs.

NOTES: Okay what I love the most about this fic is that WangXian are disasters. The miscommunication is WILD. But it's worth it in the end! The fact that they are both hiding the same things from eachother and that the tropes are TROPING. So much in this fic, it truly is a wild ride.

7 Red Is Just Black Remembering (41272 words) by Zizzani

Chapters: 4/4 Rating: Explicit Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence, No Archive Warnings Apply Additional Tags: Angst with a Happy Ending, Angst, Fluff and Angst, Fluff, Homophobia, Necromancy, Alternate Universe - Ghosts, Ghosts, Alternate Universe - Modern Setting, all my modern fics are set in Canada just fyi, Cuddling & Snuggling, Sharing a Bed, this is really just very sweet and kinda sad Series: Part 1 of Post Ghost Summary: Which is why Wei Wuxian is severely annoyed that one the first day moving in, there's a translucent man staring out his bedroom window. "Are you kidding me?!" Wei Wuxian huffs, voice bouncing down the landing as he drops his bags with a thud at the top of the stairs. The man turns from where he's been staring through the dusty pane and looks directly at Wei Wuxian. Their gazes meet and the man's eyes widen like saucers. In a deep, disbelieving voice, he murmurs, "You can see me?" "Nope!" Wei Wuxian announces and turns around to march right back down the stairs. It’s stupid, really. The man is already waiting at the bottom of the staircase when Wei Wuxian gets there. Wei Wuxian stops dead, eyeing the spectre. The man's eyes narrow triumphantly. “You can see me," he states. Wei Wuxian turns around and marches back up the stairs. The man is already there at the top.

NOTES: Another ghost WangXian situation but this time Lan Zhan is dead. This fic is less focused on modern day cultivators but there is still cultivation. I did cry a bunch reading this fic because of homophobia in a historical context surrounding Lan Zhan and his death. It's a really beautiful story though 10/10 would read again.

8 Truth Will Out (when caught on video) - End_OTW_Racism! (178962 words) by KizuKatana

Chapters: 20/20 Rating: Explicit Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence Relationships: Lan Zhan | Lan Wangji/Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian, Found family Wei Wuxian & Wen Ning & Wen Qing Additional Tags: Yu Ziyuan Abuses Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian, But this time it's caught on video, Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, Modern Cultivators, Cultivators wear body cameras for training, Partial core removal but Wen Qing makes sure there's a foundation left, Wèi Yīng | Wèi Wúxiàn is expelled from the Jiang Sect, And ends up making money live streaming his nighthunts, meet ugly, Dual Cultivation, Wei Wuxian goes viral, Pretty much all the bad stuff happens in the first 2 chapters, Top Lan Zhan | Lan Wangji/Bottom Wei Ying | Wei Wuxian, Lan Zhan | Lan Wangji Has a Big Dick, And fucks a new core into Wei Wuxian with it, While the Jiang Sect Crumbles, No war, Qi fucking, Found Family Series: Part 1 of Caught in 4k Summary: A night-hunt goes wrong, and Wei Wuxian is scapegoated for the death of the Jiang Sect Leader and the destroyed core of the Jiang Sect Heir. As punishment, his core is taken and given to Jiang Cheng, and he is stripped of his cultivation credentials and expelled from the sect. What everyone forgot was that Wei Wuxian was wearing the standard issue body camera that each cultivator wore on training missions and high-risk night-hunts. Struggling to make ends meet, Wei Wuxian finds his way to Caiyi Town with the doctor who performed the surgery, a partial core still secretly in place. His application to work at Cloud Recesses is summarily rejected by the hard-edged Second Jade of Lan after an unfortunate initial encounter. But things change when someone hacks into the Jiang systems and releases the footage of what happened. [First part of the title is a quote from Shakespeare, but this story is not based on that one!]

NOTES: I'm not going to lie this story was heartbreaking. Wei Wing goes THROUGH IT for most of it, but I promise a happy ending. This is a neat modern cultivator Au in which cultivation sects have their own laws outside of non cultivator governments but a terrible thing happens to WY because Madam Yu is actually incredibly awful which forces some things to happen. Anyways, it has found family, and a new golden core (of course created most consensually with Lan Zhan).

9 The Shade of Old Trees (363665 words) by Kryal

NOTES: This fic was so damn cool. Like both literally (magic ice man) and the most rad plot. It is sort of modern cultivator? They are no longer a thing but maybe might also be a thing, but the man in ice is definitely a cultivator. What really is exceptional with this fic are the author notes!!! So in depth, so many sources, I love it when I can see what shaped the authors choices.

10 Echoes of Love (212176 words) by Witch_Nova221

NOTES: Dang this is another fic that has me sobbing but the story was very good! Sort of modern cultivators- they are there but also not... this fic has a bit of everything; amnesia, time travel, 80's music, dragon boat racing, reincarnation- literally whatever you'd like. I will wanr though- when the tag says Dark Baoshan Sanren they are not joking she was vile. This fic does have a happy ending but at what cost.

A bit of a note- I typically don't read the "Dark ___" tag as it usually plays a lot with consent (not necessarily just in a sexual context but like manipulation as a whole) and consent and the ability to consent is one of my personal hard stops. No judgments on you or anyone's reading preferences, more so this is a note as to why I don't have many to rec.

What I Read This Week: 04/27/2025

I am a librarian, and unrelated to stereotypes about my profession, I do read a metric shit-ton in a week. Most of it is fanfiction but hey, I thought maybe it's time I share my reads?

This is what I read this week:

1 Sit With Your Soul by Tossawary (61, 443)

Summary: The original Shen Qingqiu suffers a severe deviation that unsettles his daemon, transforming them into a childish and inconstant creature, too curious and without any memories of the life that has made him so bitter. His soul is now unrecognizable to him and everyone can see his humiliation.

Shen Yuan isn't exactly happy to have transmigrated into Proud Immortal Demon Way at all, much less as this doomed scum villain's daemon.

A His Dark Materials Fusion AU. Knowledge of HDM not required.

I honestly should have known it was going to be a banger of a fic when I saw who the author was! Stunning author- stunning fic!

I cried so many times reading this; the emotional growth for the characters is really what makes it

Precious bean Shen Yuan!!!! 10/10 fic.

2 Peak Dumbassery by misto713 (4, 514)

Summary: "Two bros~, flying on qi swords~, saving each other’s lives ‘cause they're not gay~."

A minor mission goes wrong, but also oh so right. Cang Qiong Sect leadership honestly has so many questions.

Shen Qingqiu’s thin face shall never recover from this.

Absolutely wonderful cumplane buffoonery. These two pals are a nuisance and a problem LOL

I love two idiots fixing things in creative and horrific ways

RIP to the peak lords and what they witnessed

3 Am I Really a Damsel if I’m Letting Myself Get Kidnapped? by Ray__7 (9, 654)

Summary: The Masked Sun Serpent.

A snake the size of a train, whose entire body was transparent. It was the real reason why no one who entered the forest ever returned. Unlike most monsters in PIDW, The Masked Sun Serpent fashioned itself more a god than a monster, trapping people under its thrall to serve it until they were inevitably devoured. Luo Binghe had come to the Glass Forest in order to save wife #229, who had fallen under the snakes spell.

Shen Qingqiu had made his way all the way out here to do the same thing as wife #229: Get himself kidnapped.

Shen Yuan is a genius and an idiot

It wasn't what he was going for, but you know what, it did work LOL

4 Love Thy Self by iguana8llama (121, 484)

Summary: “Bro, you sound so strange. You can drop character all the way dude. Going back and forth like that is messing with me.”

“I cannot drop character.” Shen Qingqiu mocked him and did some hella sassy air quotations. “This Master has two souls dwelling inside him. This one is Shen Jiu of this world, and this one is Shen Yuan of a different world.”

The voice was the same. Aside from the obvious choice of words, there was a subtle tilt in the tone, a barely there change in the accent. Standing before him was a transmigrator and a self aware story character.

“Oh bro that is so fucked.”

This fic is phenomenal!!!! Shen yuan and Shen Jiu are two souls in one body

Absolutely stunning part one- it is a very angsty cliff hanger ending but I am hopeful (running to part 2)

The polycule is messy not going to lie LOL but I hope they can all figure their shit out

5 The Pain of Loving Others by iguana8llama (62, 791)

Summary: “Not like I want to be stuck with a parasite that’s slowly killing me.” It wasn’t often that one of them would speak out loud but sometimes their mental space felt too cramped and the words just had to come out.

“Oh yeah?” Shen Yuan kicked their feet up into the air, swishing them back and forth childishly. “If I’m a parasite, you’re a meaner version of Jiu, Jiu-ge. I know Shen Jiu. I’ve lived his life, I’ve shared his life. I’ve seen yours. My only comment: you’re hella lonely.”

Jiu-ge put their feet down and rolled over onto their back. Staring at the gray ceiling of their prison. “Bullshit. I’m not lonely enough. You’re still here.”

Part two of the series in fic #4

Ngl this one was BLEAK. But things are moving in the right direction I think.

Stellar writing and storytelling!

Hopefully the third and final part brings joy??

6 Better Together by iguana8llama (131, 046)

Summary: If Shen Shen had taken this baby’s mama as a pet all those years ago this little one wouldn’t have been born. He sat up straighter, the fine hair at the base of his neck standing on end. It was as though that thought had sent lightning through him. Struck by an epiphany.

He didn’t know which path awaits him, but he also didn’t know what good surprises would come either. This cub was an unexpected gift and for the first time in a long time Shen jiu found himself hoping for the best. Shen Shen lived life doing things that made him happy. Shen Jiu wants that too, he wants to live life and do things that will make him happy.

*Meanwhile* *in another Dimension*

So far the stupid actions Shen Yuan has taken led to Jiu-ge living a life reminiscent to that fantasy dream were everything was nice and happy and just out of reach for scum like him.... Fuck it, if they’re gonna die might as well live a little.

Part three to the series mentioned in #4 and #5 (final part!)

We do get a good happy ending with some loose ends still to be completed- but very positive ending

I adored this series <3 The polycule is complicated but loving

7 PRÆY FOR A GOD by Siren_Cat (73, 207)

Summary: Shen Yuan opened his eyes abruptly, head shooting up and towards the voice, a little ahead of him stood an imponent and tall silhouette, an otherworldly aura surrounded its figure and gray eyes met his green ones as the War God looked at him.

This was such a good in between emotionally charged fics type of fic

very goofy in a light way, and super fluffy. Good feelings all around!

The setting gives a little wink and nod to tgcf which I adore too

8 Brilliant Mistake by brooklinegirl (53, 702)

Summary: "Fine," Wen Qing says, turning back to Wei Ying. "You're pregnant."

Lan Zhan feels his mouth drop open and has to work to shut it.

Wei Ying reacts not at all. He's swinging his feet where he's sitting on the table, a bored expression on his face.

Wen Qing just looks at him. "I am not joking about that."

Wei Ying stops swinging his feet. He blinks several times in a row. "Wait," he says.

I woke up at 3AM and sent myself an email that just said:

Modern cultivation friends curse sexy pollen hook up desperate WWX gets pregnant

I adore mpreg fics, especially wangxian mpreg because they are adorable

This fic was so soft :'3 my heart!

Are they idiots- yes, do they figure it out, super late yes, LOL but they do figure it out!

two parter but the second is more like an epilogue (and SUPER sweet :'3 10/10 recommend the read)

9 the art of courtship by antimonia (10, 264)

Summary: Shen Qingqiu accepts his courtship, and Liu Qingge feels like the world is his. His breath catches in his throat, and he wonders what he's done to deserve this miracle.

Liu Qingge will do right by Shen Qingqiu. There is no gift he cannot bring, no beast he cannot hunt for Shen Qingqiu. He will prove to everyone that Shen Qingqiu has chosen a partner that he can proudly stand by.

Small fic (compared to my beast reading) three part series and SO good

Shen Qingqiu is an idiot LOOOL completely oblivious in everything romance LOL

He eventually gets it but when he does - absolute head desk

The crack and fluff I truly needed

10 i know you'll be waiting for me by AkikoFumi (14, 113)

Summary: When Shen Qingqiu wakes up, it's with a skull-splitting headache. He immediately and wholly regrets every single one of his life decisions that have led him to this point, but, whatever. He'll just have a quiet day in bed!

Shen Qingqiu heaves a sigh, rolls over - and promptly freezes. He's not alone in his bed. It bears repeating: he is not alone in his bed!!

[Shen Qingqiu gets wifeplotted into the future, where he and Liu Qingge are happily married!]

Okay this was absolutely adorable, but it also did hurt my heart little bit

Less a wife plot and more so a Shen Yuan gay panics (still phenomenal though)

Very cute fic!!!!

11 The Woes of Growing Pains by CheckersXIV (26, 495)

Summary: No one has ever had a successful time acclimating to transmigration.

At least, that's what Shen Yuan tells himself after he accidentally breaks The System. It doesn't help that he wakes up as a teenage disciple inside of the bane of his existence- Proud Immortal Demon Way. He's trying to take precautions to avoid all the death flags that this stupid villain's body of his is going to get him into, but some other disciple really seems to have it out for him...

Shen yuan transmigrates and 1. is too early 2. breaks the system. The result is an absolutely adorable feel good story

The liushen had my heart! These two embarrassed babies :'3

The peak lords becoming besties was also a solid highlight

12. Heaven Official's Blessing by MXTX Chapter 97-100

Summary: Born the crown prince of a prosperous kingdom, Xie Lian was renowned for his beauty, strength, and purity. His years of dedication and noble deeds allowed him to ascend to godhood. I am rounding out the end of book 6; it is STILL ruining my life :((((

It was very liushen heavy and I am not upset about this at all. You can definitely tell that when I marked for later I was craving a specific vibe XD

What I Read This Week: 06/01/2025

This is what I read this week:

1 This time, together! by danny16doc (157, 858)

Summary: Wei Wuxian thought he had finally found peace—apparently not. The world just couldn’t leave him be. Once again, they came after him for the same ignorant, foolish reasons: he was too powerful, too arrogant, too uncontrollable.

They had pushed him to the edge once more—but this time, he wasn’t alone. If they couldn’t adapt to the new world, so be it. He would tear down their reality and rebuild it anew. But this time, things would be different.

Time travel fic! SO GOOD!

My heart weeps for a character I didn't expect to cry about

this was absolutely so heartwarming. I love the way the time travel mechanic worked, and I adored the ending our boys got.

10/10

2. not every haunting is for horror by Cinaed (32, 884)

Summary: When Shang Qinghua and Shen Yuan, popular online ghost hunters, decide to break away from their corporate overlords and start their own small company, they reach out to Shen Yuan’s old teacher who’s renting out his basement at a suspiciously low price. The reason for the cheap rent quickly becomes clear: Shen Qingqiu’s house is haunted by a ghostly presence he refuses to admit exists....

I went into this expecting it to be a good old haunting ghost busting team; what it did do was make me cry! What the heck!

Shen Jiu and Yue Qi will never not be a sad story and this one was worse than canon.

The ending is happy (but a little weird- affectionately) and I adored it

I almost wish this was a longer fic so I could get more into the universe! good read

3 afraid of changing (i've built my life around you) by TheGreatSwordSwallower (39, 251)

Summary:

Now, Wei Wuxian will never admit to this, but Old Man Lan tends to be right one way or another whenever he points out Wei Wuxian’s mistakes. Terrifyingly accurate.

So when he claims Wei Wuxian’s regular wet dreams and morning woods have managed to spawn a baby from the stars above — based on the many cautionary tales he’s somehow perused before — Lan Qiren is, unfortunately, correct.

“Congratulations, Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji! Here goes your baby! Fresh out of the oven. Please water and feed regularly. Do not forget to pray. Best wishes! :)”

Wei Wuxian goes still.

or: A baby arrives in a basket in the middle of Wei Wuxian's dorm room in the middle of the night, addressed to one Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji and they...try and live with it.

Omg the first fic that ruined me emotionally this week what the fuck. (I loved it)

4Think of the Children by SingingInTheRaiin (34, 428)

Summary: Shen Qingqiu was not the one who pushed Luo Binghe into the Endless Abyss, and in fact would have been willing to follow him down if he had not been stopped by Without-A-Cure. He would do anything to get Luo Binghe back... and yet suddenly chooses to disappear from the cultivation world instead.

When Luo Binghe finally emerges from the Abyss, his first goal is to track down his wayward shizun. If he accidentally implies that he has children in need of a teacher, then he'll just have to roll with it until he can figure out what caused his shizun to flee, and how to convince him to stay.

Shen Qingqiu is so smart, but so stupid

This is such a mess LOL Luo Binghe is also an idiot

it works out- but damn so much melancholy and yearning

5 An Old Cardboard Produce Box for a Cradle by julomaiboulomai, mischiefseven (25,755)

Summary: "Wei Ying sits back from his labour and looks at the product of his work with satisfaction. She could use a face and some clothing, but her proportions aren’t too bad. All in all she’s a convincingly sweet doll. Mostly, anyway. He smiles, a little wry, down at the little figure resting on his worktable; she’s as uncanny as anything else that came out of the soil of the Burial Mounds, really. That just means she’ll fit right in."

Wei Ying makes a meimei for A-Yuan. Things progress differently from there.

I adore fix-its fueled by Wei Wuxian's child/ren. This is the fastest fix it ahaha I loved it, it was incredible sweet

Lan Wangji said- this is my husband, fight me - and I love that for him

Wei Wuxian said- ahahaha for sure- wait shit, we are actually married though???

Cute, adorable, loved it.

6 in a dream, i was home by thelastdboy (25, 250)

Summary: After he learned of Wei Wuxian's death, Lan Wangji dragged his broken body to Yiling. Deep inside Luanzanggang, he encountered the ghosts of the Wen Remnants. They revealed that someone had been trapped inside Luanzanggang and that Wei Wuxian had worked to save this person. Having nothing left to lose, Lan Wangji poured his remaining spiritual energy into an array Wei Wuxian had drawn before his death.

When he passed out from exhaustion, Lan Wangji hadn't expected to wake again, but he did. However, he wasn't in Luanzanggang anymore. Instead, he was back in Gusu. He was also a teenager again.

Cute little time travel fix it. BONUS! Wei Wuxian's parents live!

I wish this was so much longer because I desperately wanted the domesticity of wangxian - they are the cutest.

Solid little (for me) fic!

7 Baba and babo by runrecord (66,749)

This was such a wholesome story!

Summary: One day, Wei Ying is worried sick how he will pay bills and feed his son.

The next day, he finds himself as Lan Zhan’s housewife. Is this something their little group of three can work out and go ahead with? But what seems like a crack idea at the start with an unspecified future might, in the end, completely turn their world upside down in the most wonderful ways.

Or: The exact flavor of Wei Ying Lan Zhan goes for in this fic is sexy yet troubled single father Wei Ying. A story of love and found family in five parts.

You can tell the author might have been younger or maybe newer to writing when they did this, but as the story progresses they really grew into themselves!

did I cry- yes, was it worth it, also yes

I love an accidental sugar daddy- husband pipeline and we got it

8 Wei Ying's Knight on Call by dragontrappedinhumanskin (20, 818)

Summary: When Wei Ying unknowingly drunk dials a stranger to come pick him up from a party, he doesn't expect the guy to actually show, much less be this beautiful.

“. . .Do you know anyone else there?”

“I’m at—” Pause for a hiccup, “At that party I told you about, and ‘m suuuuper drunk, so,” Another hiccup, Wei Ying leaning more heavily against the wall, “I’m being a very good adult and asking for a ride. Please!”

Wei Ying barely made out the words, and wow did Wen Ning sound different when Wei Ying was wasted. “Nope!” He answered cheerily, “Just some of ‘em, like a little bit, not real friends but like—Ac-quain-tan-ces. That’s the word, right? Jiang Cheng and your sister say to be extra careful when—” Another hiccup, followed by Wei Ying having to close his eyes and lean his head against the wall to make everything stop spinning, “—When drunk. Ya know? Of course you know.”

Another silence, and Wei Ying let it drag out longer as he swallowed down the sudden rise of nausea, taking deep breaths through his nose.

“What’s the address?”

This was so fun!! The premise is absolutely whack LMAO but I live for it

That's what I read this week!

You can tell this week was mostly wangxian heavy- I did a HUGE sweep of the tags and I've got a solid bunch to work through now. Which is absolutely solid, because I did almost run out of fics :'3

As usual I will gladly accept any recs you have happily and gratefully- though it may take me some time to get to them; MDZS (wangxian - but also most other pairings) or SVSSS (shen yuan et al pairings - or others tbh I am not picky!)
