I just finished up the painting dedicated to HMCS Edmonton. I had a scare while using the varnish. It dried white instead of clear 😨. As I wondered the halls of the barrack attempting to fix the issue, I met many folks who expressed an interest in purchasing the painting. Although the original is dedicated to HMCS Edmonton and will be hung in their Junior Ranks Mess, anyone else interested will be able to purchase a high quality print of the painting soon. Shino never does ever have enough art, does he? It's such a shame. Team 8 in general deserves more, but Shino more so.

If we wish hard enough, perhaps Shino will one day be upgraded to secondary character status like everyone else except Tenten

1. share a good memory!

I remember at camp, last year (my first year as a counselor), there was a girl in my cabin (I'll call her A) who was incredibly homesick. It was her first time away from home for more than one night, and her parents sent her away for 4 weeks, so she was really, really, scared and missed her parents. Some mornings I would come in to make sure the kids were getting ready for the day, and she'd be sobbing in her bunk (which is really weird, because the kids only ever cry at night, almost never in the mornings--the sun is out, and they have tons of activities to do, etc)

Anyways, over the course of the 4 weeks, we got her to open up. She'd play BS with us, or take out her guitar and sing taylor swift songs for us, or just chat, and she started to laugh and have fun and make friends.

On the last day, when we were giving out awards, she came to me and gave me a letter, and hugged me, and thanked me and said goodbye, and it was all really really sweet. When I opened up the letter, I saw that she had given me a bracelet, and in the letter she thanked me again for being such a great counselor and helping her come out of her shell. She was greatful that on those mornings when she was sad and homesick, that I'd help calm her down and talk to her, and after all that, she was super sad she was leaving. 

It was really sweet, and I cried, and I just love that kid. I hope I see her this summer too!! <3

2. how long does it take for you to fall asleep?

Well, I get ready and get in bed about an hour before I fall asleep, but most often I spend that time reading. Maybe 15 minutes after I put down my phone or book? I'm not sure, but not too long, anyways. 

3. what kind of environment do you like to/wish you could live in?

Something that's warm most times of the year, maybe snows in December and January, but not October through April. Trees, hills, sun and rain. That'd be really nice.

4. do you remember dreams? what did your dream world look like?

Most often, I don't remember dreams. Oh man, I had one last night though...what was it about...I think I was playing a video game, except I was in the video game, and it had something to do with a large spirit rabbit I had to kill or else it would eat me???? But it was really hard? It was intense but not scary I guess. 

5. if you could be really good at anything, what would it be?

Motivation/Confidence. If I could motivate myself to take the next step, or feel confident in my decisions, that would be heavenly. If we're talking a specific skill, I guess the skill of conversation? Knowing what to say, what not to say, when to say it, how to know when to initiate conversation or back off. Damn, that'd be nice.

6. do you ever wish you had discovered/started something earlier in your life?

I wish I would have discovered my confidence in myself earlier in my life. The confidence to let toxic friendships go, and not feel so guilty about prior decisions. And Harry Potter. I didn't start reading Harry Potter until soon after the 6th book came out. Dude, if I had given it a chance, I would have loved it so much.

7. big city or small town?

I live in a small town, and prefer small towns to live in, but love to visit big cities.

8. favorite kind of music?

I guess upbeat with a good beat? I'm not sure what to call that. Indie Pop? Just, like, Pompeii by Bastille, or Young Volcanoes by Fall Out Boy, or Follow the Sun by Evermore, etc.

9. pastel or neon?

Pastel

10. what is one thing you could talk about for hours?

ONE PIECE AHHH

11. do you prefer to just chill or party?

With others? Chilling. One of my favorite things to do is just chill with one or two people.
