Parable of the Beat ><

It's hard enough to push the giant ideologies – capitalism and communism – out of mind, long enough to imagine an alternative world. Harder still is to model such a world in art, without slipping into didactic propaganda languages, which cancel the protean human spirit, that first inspired the work. Parable of the Beat ><, is a audio/visual inner monolog, reflecting and questioning on opinion leaders, quantified self, super saturation, value bubbles, slogans and personal memes. Finding a common denominator in – one thing we can all agree on – the pulse - the heart - the Beat >< Black paper books, white ink drawings-calligraphy, samples-live electronics, animated into a 30min audio/visual experience. Two soundartists performing to PARABLE OF THE BEAT >< -Zoya Zerkalski a fictional character employing accidental sound elements and improvisation techniques through means of analogue. Working between Moscow and Berlin, she merges synths with accordion, cymbals with vocal textures and gets inspired by spotaneity/elemental flaws. -bodypattern proposes to explore the sounds the human being produces when emotionally affected. From a whisper to a scream, from a whimper to a groan, all these "noises" are integrated into the colour palette of the performance and are subject to electronic sound fracking. Through 2019 Sentimental Punk will present 4 SpS -Sentimental punk Specials-  where the original work of a contemporary artist will be shown over a weekend in installation format inviting new soundtracks to interpret the piece at its finissage.
