I was wondering if you guys knew of a fic where Bucky is trying to look after himself and owns an apartment, he has a cat and his next door neighbours are never home, but their young girl (Natasha I believe) is, and he ends up looking after her, and taking her to ballet lessons where he sits with all the other mums and they kind of fawn all over him?

Hey!! I don’t know if you’re still doing asks or ever did them, but I have a question about the pigment change in seafood when it’s cooked - namely the exoskeletons (ish), like crabs, lobsters, prawns ect...??? Cool if ya don’t know because it’s a little bit different, but thanks anyway!! 🦀🦞🦐🦑

this is a simplified answer, but basically it’s because of how proteins break down! shellfish naturally have a variety of pigments in their shells, but the most common is a blue-green color 

this color is present in different amounts, but lobsters and many crabs have it! and when you heat this pigment up, the proteins that form its molecular shape start to break apart. if it’s heated enough, the blue-green pigment breaks down completely and forms an entirely new structure, which just so happens to reflect red light! 

this is what gives cooked lobsters and crabs their bright red color. (another fun fact, if you cook an albino crab or lobster that lacks the blue-green pigment, they don’t turn red, they stay white! don’t do that, though, why would you cook an albino lobster.)

shrimp and prawns have a very similar pigment in their shells that breaks down into a pink pigment, but I don’t know how many shrimp you have to eat before it makes your skin turn pink. 

and that’s why the shellfish do!

Hello Bunjy! I just saw your answer to the snake ask, and while I’m 100% terrified of them irl, I still find them adorable in pictures and gifs, and I was wondering about their teeth? Or rather fangs, are they retractable? What’s going on with snakes dental work? Thank you so much!

so it depends on the snake, but most of the animals you’re likely to find in captivity will have a variation on this basic dental setup:

note that while the teeth are numerous and very sharp, they’re also short and VERY delicate! this is the basic mouth situation for a nonvenomous constrictor- those teeth are intended to latch onto smallish prey and immobilize it until the snake can get it all wrapped up and suffocate it to death in its coils. whee! (IMPORTANT: if this type of snake bites you, do NOT try and rip yourself free! those teeth are so delicate that YOU WILL BREAK THEM OFF INSIDE THE BITE, which will really suck for both you AND the snake!

as you can see, even pythons have what’s basically a more robust variation of this setup!

(when the mouth is closed, those fold up flat so the snake doesn’t bite itself)

and on the other end of the basic snake-dental-setup scale, we have the vipers.

unlike our friends up there in the constrictors, these snakes have two massive fangs up front and a mouthful of tiny splinterteeth in the back. like the python up there, these big ol’ fangs fold flat against the roof of the viper’s mouth when it’s not using them. and these fangs are HOLLOW- the snake uses them to inject whatever venom it’s got and enjoys a delicious meal when the prey stops struggling.

there are more types of snake teeth than this, but these are the two most common types! hopefully that answers your question and you never meet the business end of a viper!
