It's been a heckin' while Multi.

I've been working on my Pokémon nuzlocke comic called Odyssey

It's still being scripted and written but I'm really excited to write it because I get to follow my favorite tropes and self indulgence!

I really like the concept of Pokémon being trainers themselves, them questioning their own self worth compared to humans. Pokémon getting sick of being treated like garbage by some trash trainers and beginning to actively disobey.

Pokémon can get independent jobs and have their own rights in my universe for Odyssey and Jojo (The Mudkip) is one of the few Pokémon to actually try and become a trainer and take on the gym challenge.

I'm so excited to write it because I've been trying to just get it out of my brain! Just getting it onto paper. I had so many ideas and I finally sat down, took my time, and just wrote the few 3 chapters onto paper! I did some character designs and working out their characterizations.

Jojo's been my favorite character to write because he's both naive, easily trusting, but also has a biting wit and just down to earth.

I love testing this dude and his limits. How much he wants to be taken seriously as a trainer and a real individual. His dreams, his wishes. His own self-doubts of achieving his goals.

Is he doing this to show Pokémon are on par with humans and their benefit or is he doing this for himself and his own self desires.

Jojo's biggest enemy is himself in this story and I can't wait to explore that!

u said to send something ur workin on, so i am! this is small but its at lineart stage, and its a warmup so im not focused on the anatomy or proportions etc, BUT.... xanthe crying and small and vulnerable moments !!!!!

was going for him being very balled up and shielded body language as opposed to his normally very open and takes-up-space body language... and i tried for irak to contrast, for him to look less shielded kind of clsoed and more like closed in an embrace :3c

okay i saw the post of this before i saw the ask, oops

ANYWAY OOOHH YES YES I LOVE THIS!!! something about seeing xanthe small and vulnerable in a way he doesn't usually like to show people is pulling on my heartstrings in a very real and visceral way. like you said, it's a huge contrast to his typical body language! he's not taking up space and making himself seen, he's hiding and trying to shield himself. and irak is also EXCELLENT contrast here with how he's like... a bit more closed off while holding xanthe. it's giving "strong silent rock to lean on" to me. but even though irak is definitely more shielded and closed off, he still doesn't look like... angry or upset. it does come off to me like he's being respectful of what xanthe needs in this moment.
