Drowsy eyes blink open, both ears giving an individual flick to indicate his slow arrival into the waking world. He was not typically one to sleep all too often, much less partake in an afternoon nap. Whatever had lulled him into such comfort was beyond him, but the coziness followed him into consciousness as he felt the weight of a blanket placed upon his shoulders.

He'd feel much more alarm at being in such an indisposed, vulnerable situation, if it weren't for the fact that he would recognize that silhouette and scent anywhere. He wills himself to not let something overtly fond unfurl within his chest, though he'd be lying if he said he weren't surprised at the gentle act of affection. Why, he'd almost think that to be the act of someone not wishing to be caught . . .

❝ Where are you off to in such a hurry ? It's nearly supper time, I do believe. You'll be joining us tonight, won't you ? ❞ Despite the inquiring tone, you'd best believe it to not be much a question at all.

The senses are alive with iron, something that normally makes the demon salivate at the corners of the mouth and get some primitive twitch in the knuckles -- however, this was coming from the pup. That snowed all instincts and caused the hairs on the back of Cosette's neck to bristle, and put a snarl in the corner of her lips.

" 'T'ain't no thing' my foot, Junior Elwood. " The tone was curt and sprinkled with a hiss, though her ears flattened right to the skull as she skulked about after her towering son. She curved around furniture and pattered her way over, hooking the nearest mahogany chair as it let out a brunt long groan with its slide across the hardwood floor, spun to a still before Jules shortly before he was grabbed tightly - but carefully - by the frame and moved to be forcibly sat.

"What in the Heaven happened to you, boy?" Her palm crowns his forehead, thumb brushing back the bangs as she gathered a fistful of apron to dab at the blood from his nose.

While Hewlett may not know much in the way of true danger and, worse, how to avoid it, with time he had learned what boundaries he could gently push and which ones he could most certainly not. It was clear from day one that his upbringing had been very different in comparison to these older siblings he'd been, for so long, unaware of. And as much as he'd been thrilled to know he was no longer alone in this world, as he was, it had been . . .

A learning curve of his own.

His ears briefly flatten to his skull, intimidated by his elder brother's height and his overall build compared to his own. ❝ I . . . Uh, I said . . . ❞

His lost confidence is found nearly as quickly as it had been lost, and his hands ball into fists. He breathes in deep.
