I need someone to write a feral 14-year-old, freshly dead uncle, angry at world, pre-vigilante Peter ending up in gotham
Because??? Can you imagine the chaos???
Peter gets dragged into DC, maybe a switch up of the circumstances on how he ends up in gotham? I'm thinking like. Either a futuristic science thing or magic, and Dink's DNA is placed in it (deliberately or not) and it's supposed to pull the closest alternate variant, but it malfunctions and knabs whatever shares the DNA
Peter falls through a portal and immediately starts cursing people out, maybe he punches someone, who knows
"Who is this spicey teenager and why are they calling me a bitch?" And Bruce looks at him and he's literally his first Robin
OR flip the angry grieving teen and you can have a complete shut down??
Honestly, however you think a newly super powered and grieving teen would react in general

I’m on your side - almost completely - but let me tell you whyyyyyyy.
Firstly, I first saw Richard Rankin, and absolutely admire him as a wonderful actor, in “The Crimson Field” and then in “The Syndicate”. He does an absolutely excellent job in both of those performances, so when I saw him as a “fancast”-ed Roger, I immediately loved the idea and was delighted when he was cast. Still am!!!! Because I think he can pull such development offfffff.
[Book Spoilers Ahead)
I personally think the creators of the show have written (and even dressed, made-up) Roger in such a way as to later initiate character development. What bothers me is the cutting of scenes and rephrasing of certain lines that make him a less sympathetic character at this point in the story than his book counterpart. We’re not quite rooting for his relationship with Bree, yet, as we were with Jamie and Claire, no?
But this puts him already in the perfect placement for growth. Like Jamie for Claire, he’ll come to fully (and I say “fully” because I think he already does) appreciate Bree’s independent streak as well as feminism (let’s recall the botched Scottish fair proposal - somewhat different from the books). He faces a physical transformation upon the Gloriana and then Fraser’s Ridge, so we may see that, too.
Roger’s time with the Mohawk and then at Fraser’s Ridge will definitely change him - there are parts of Drums of Automn (and forgive me for not quoting directly, I don’t have it to hand), where he is eager to prove himself worthy of Brianna, especially in the eyes of Jamie. If I recall correctly, there’s a whole part about him feeling embarrassed for being more an academic and mucisian than an outdoorsman or man of action. And yet, he’s already made that step forward in the show, with regard to the latter point, just by going after Brianna through the stones.
Lastly and forgive me for I’m about to rant:
This “all or nothing” business is a bit off-putting to modern audiences, I think, as we’re more accustomed to the emotionally intelligent “accepting people for their faults” sort of thing. In historical context (especially when it came to proposals up until the last 100 years), a lot of men would say: “Hey, Ermintrude, marry me now because if you don’t I’m going to go enlist in [insert military branch here] and DIE - all or nothing, Ermie, let’s go” and because MEN DID THAT and then did DIE, women were like “ahh, opportunity doth knock, I must snatch it” and oooh how romantic. Why are we surprised that a conservatively-raised Scottish Boy has a similarly old-fashioned and romanticized view of courtship, even if he is a historian? (Perhaps emphasized because he is a historian? Hmmm.)
With the last episode of the season titled “A Man of Worth”, Roger’s return and reunion with Brianna will show character development from the beginning of the season, even moreso his first appearance. I wonder if they’ll have him go through the same...indecisiveness in the books whereupon he learns of Brianna’s pregnancy (by rape???? Poor Bree) with questionable paternity from his rescuers - the whole “don’t bother coming back unless you’re here to stay” ordeal.
Anyhow, I really look forward to how Rik Rankin will play this development. What I say to all the antis, Roger-haters, anti-Roger people is - have some patience, let the story develop, give the showrunners and the character, time to change. Come back and let’s talk at the end of the season.
Because what is drama without conflict?

Please, tell me that there is still somebody who likes Roger. I cannot suffer alone after reading all posts here.
Yes, he isn’t saint but he doesn’t deserve to be hatred.
