now that brunch is over and liberals have decided its appropriate to participate in political action again i need to stress something. i am grabbing every baby socialist by the collar and telling you this with dead seriousness: do not trust these people.

there are a lot of them, and they say many of the right words, so it can seem very politically expedient to form coalition and try to tackle issues with them en rank. this doesn't work. it has never worked across many different societies and times, and it is for the very simple reason that when the chips are down they will turn and run. and they'll cry about it, they'll have excuses and explanations, but they will abandon you when you need them. guaranteed.

that isn't to say there's nothing to be gained by working alongside them for certain mutual goals, and from a purely pragmatic standpoint it's actually very useful to ride a counter-reactionary wave of liberal sentiment to both sow actual revolutionary thought and make headway on softball issues. but you Cannot Trust Them. not with your life, not with a movement, and in my experience, not even with packing up their shit at the end of the day. much better positioned and equipped people have been destroyed for that trust, and that's not a mistake that can be afforded here.

being a person who cycles through food obsessions instead of craving variety is convenient in many ways. for example I can keep eating the same leftovers for multiple days without getting sick of them. I only have to try new recipes if I feel like cooking something new, not because I'm bored of everything in my repertoire. however. it does feel kind of comedic to be distraught that tomorrow I can't eat cornbread for breakfast for the third day in a row because I finished it off today (mm 2pm cornbread). like girl I promise you'll survive (before three weeks ago I had not made cornbread in like. years)

Today I went looking in to the supposed “40 murdered baby” statistic and the insanity of the necropolitics of a murdered infant where a president of a nation is waving photos of violently murdered children that were his own duty to protect in front of the noses of other world leaders to get them to support his unilateral bombing of other children. And I have to see the photos of the children who were murdered and know that there are significant groups of people who called for the murder of Jewish babies as something that was politically justified but also that all the Jews are lying to you about, because hamas would never do that. Tomorrow the group that killed more of our people on any single day since the Shoah has called for a day to destroy Jews, and tomorrow the people whom a week ago I would have thought were my friends and allies will continue to gaslight me that they don’t actually want jews to die, just the bad jews, and tomorrow Israel will continue to kill civilians at an unimaginable rate, and this is horrific carnage before our eyes in a way no one can fully comprehend, and it goes on and on and on. It’s all been Bad, it’s been Bad since it started and it’s been bad every hour since, but there’s a heaviness in my bones like. Oh. This is how it goes. There’s no way up. This is how. Anyway. Give money to Gaza and contact/protest/harass your reps or do whatever the fuck you can to stop more people dying and idk. Idk.
