My First Bread
Today is the day! I made my own bread for the first time! I am so pleased with the outcome, I’ve been inspired! All the exclamation points!!!!!
First thing I did was search a “fake” sourdough recipe. I LOVE the taste of sourdough, but didn’t want to put the time in for a starter. (I will be doing this in the near future, however)
I found this great, easy recipe here .
Yesterday afternoon I mixed up my ingredients and waited the 18 LOOONG hours for it to rise and ferment. I used Siggis non- fat drinkable yogurt as it was in the fridge already, and contains the essential live cultures. Had I know this was going to work out so well, I would have taken some photos of my process/ ingredients.
This morning at 8 am, I folded my dough twice, shaped it, and recovered. Halfway through the wait period, I preheated my oven, with the dutch oven inside. I transferred my dough and put the lid back on.
30 minutes later, I took the lid off to let the bread brown further. Not even 5 minutes later, the bread was out and ready! And it was BEAUTIFUL.

It took all of my willpower to not break off a piece right away- but when I finally did- WHEW! SOOOO GOOD!!!

The flavor was INSANE. Super sharp and lovely. The crust was so crisp and amazing. I’m so shocked at how easy it was!
My plan for tomorrow is to switch half of the regular flower for whole wheat, and add some oats and sesame seeds to the outside! I am so excited to start experimenting with this recipe, and take on some other bread recipes!
Send me all of your expertise and any recipes you might have that you think I should try! Have anything you’d like to try, but haven’t yet? Send that my way too! I’d love to bake it up, and be the guinea pig!
Here’s to a love for bread, and a new found love for baking!
