KuroDai Fic Recs: Pt. 1

Felt a little silly and went through my pile of bookmarked KuroDai fics and affectionately threw them up on this post. Enjoy!!

Wait. What.

Daichi harbored a crush on Kuroo ever since high school, but no way he was going to ever confess to the guy now that they’re attending the same college. To Daichi’s horror, Kuroo’s roommate was the one and only Oikawa Tooru who found out about his crush. Luckily, it was a good thing Oikawa kept his mouth shut, but then his eyes were sharp and his mind bright, and to Kuroo’s surprise, Oikawa strangely started to flirt with Daichi who made the most unexpected adorable expressions and wow how Kuroo did not like that.

Nonetheless a smile began to curl on Daichi’s lips, knowing exactly who was approaching them. “What do we have here?” The sly voice spoke in elvish, allowing only certain members of the party to understand. “Sawamura Daichi. A gush of wind harshly brushed Kuroo’s chin right when the crow flew past his face and in the next second, silence was replaced by screams and curses of a man as well as strong flapping of wings and incessant angry caws. Kuroo turned on his heels in confusion, eyes following the crow attacking the man he once chased out of the brothel by slapping his face with its wings, claws scratching at his cheeks and robust beak jabbing at his skin so mercifully it even tried to aim for the man’s eyes. Kuroo was too taken aback by the scene that he forgot to react, though it didn’t take long for the man to drop his kendo bamboo sword and hurriedly fled his way out of the alleyway. “Did you just... save me from being assaulted?”

When war broke out, Kuroo Tetsurou lost his home and ended up working at a brothel as a handyman and errand boy. Life went on peacefully until Kuroo's life was put on the line once again. Along the way, a crow curiously befriended him and brought laughter and smiles back into Kuroo's life. He wasn't aware of it yet, but the crow brought more than that.

Protecting the Mighty, Protecting the Strong by elysiansunrise [Teen]

Throughout the next months, Kuroo finds himself memorizing every part of Sawamura—every smile, inflection, tone, action. Kuroo’s sense of protectiveness for Sawamura grows ferociously every passing day. There is something about Sawamura—kind, intelligent, passionate Sawamura—that makes Kuroo want to destroy any barrier that comes his way. Kuroo’s protectiveness is what helps him realize that Sawamura’s raise of an eyebrow often indicates amusement. That the fractional widening of his eyes could be out of surprise, or wonder, or teasing. That the way he freezes when he thinks no one is looking is a sign of that unspoken worry that Kuroo has yet to solve.

Or, where Daichi has a small hidden fear that he prefers to keep buried before anybody notices, and Kuroo is there to protect him from it.

The person turns and Tetsurou’s heart falls out of his chest. He feels it beating on the cool stone floor as he’s faced with sunkissed skin, a freckle-dotted nose, strong shoulders– - Or, 4 times Sawwamura Daichi walks into Tetsurou's magic shop needing assistance, and 1 time he stills walks into Tetsurou's shop, still needs assistance, but Tetsurou is more in love than ever.

In which Daichi must remain focused and Kuroo is too hot by Toboe1087 [Gen]

Daichi never thought he’d be one of the lucky few to get a glimpse of what his soulmate looked like, but once he saw him, Daichi had trouble thinking about anything else. And Suga would never let him live it down.

There was a lot that modern science couldn’t explain as it was, one of those things being the nature of soulmates. There was no explanation as to how it happened, or why it manifested that way — sharing your scars with your soulmate seemed very arbitrary, which raised even more questions about the whole thing. At some point, Kuroo (much like the people around him) decided he wouldn’t break his brain trying to figure that out. Maybe when he was an adult. What mattered to him was that having a soulmate was a comforting thought, but the sudden realization that he might've found them left him giddy. --- 4 times Kuroo tried denying Sawamura Daichi was his soulmate and 1 time he had to face the facts.
