Seems like I've reached phase 2 of my hiatus journey For me, I always go through phases after I see new Sherlock content: - first phase is full on obsessing over bbc canon. I only want to read canon compliant thing, very in-character fics. No place for AUs. And in the case of s4 John, I get so sensitive like you write John as someone who's kind? Hell no!! John is a dick, he deserves to be hated and screw him, all his past kindness is no longer valid now that I see he turns out to have this dipshit side of him! Protect Sherlock! No John! Sherlock deserves better than johnlock!! Look at bbc canon!!! - second phase is when I start to chill about canon compliance. Like all the AUs, kidlock, beelock, unilock, breadlock, give me all. Imagine if John and Sherlock met at a bar. Imagine John was Sherlock's client. Imagine Sherlock as an uber driver and John talking about his marriage with Mary and Sherlock deduces what Mary is hiding. Imagine John and Sherlock hiring a hot contractor post tfp explosion and Sherlock is obviously smitten and John is jealous. Canon compliance be damned.
