i feel like clark kent does not know how to drive a car. he can just fly anywhere anyway so why would he bother getting his license? and he could always just take a train or a cab in metropolis if he needed to. it’s only when he (as clark) is asked to cover a story for the daily planet outside of downtown that he realizes it may be an issue 😵‍💫

summary: Confrontation is hard and it's ugly but at the same time, it's the only way to get answers and move forward. Or at least that's what you tell yourself as you prepare to finally be face to face with the other woman.
a/n: my god, it has been so long, a little too long and I promise I spent this time locked in a terrible battle with writer's block. in that time though I did manage to age another year and take an impulsive trip to see phoebe bridgers. crazy to think about. I hope I did this chapter well and that it makes sense and if anyone wants to talk about anything or send a request i am so down for that
It's midnight and except for the giggling couple on the other side, the subway car is empty. In your fancy dress and ruined makeup, you can’t shake the feeling that they’re laughing at you. You know that it’s rude to stare but you can’t help it, they look so young and happy. The cigarettes in your pocket are wet from the rain and there are signs on the subway telling you smoking isn’t allowed but that doesn’t stop you from using your last match to light one.
-
“What do you mean you’ve never been on the subway?” you laugh in disbelief. “Come on, you’re a Gotham native! There used to be a whole station named after your family.”
“I never had any need for it,” Bruce sulked, crossing his arms. “I learned to drive the second I could and before that, it was a taxi or a chauffeur. Or Alfred.”
“So it’s settled then!” you clap your hands together.“We’ll take the subway back to your place.”
“Isn’t the subway dangerous?” He frowns at the pleading look you give him before giving in. “I suppose that if you really want to, we can take it to your place. It’s closer.”
“Oh, you’re gonna love it, baby! I promise that it’s got a certain kind of charm to it” you dramatically handwave for emphasis.“You know, if you overlook all the flaws.”
Even in the unflattering yellowish light of the empty subway car, he still manages to look incredibly handsome. A little too handsome and refined for the dirty floor and uncomfortable seats but there’s no one around to notice. You break out into a sheepish grin and hold out your hand. He takes it in his and gives you a small smile. It is an incredibly private moment in what is typically a very public place and you feel so fortunate that you get to really know him.
He presses a kiss to the corner of your lip.“So tell me, is it always like this?”
As if to answer his question a group of teenagers gets in at the next stop, loudly talking about their days and teachers and other high school things.
“Hey if you want to see more, maybe next time we can take a ride downtown during rush hour.” You cover your mouth to try and keep the appearance of a straight face but your laughter escapes despite your best effort.
“I’d rather not be here during rush hour, thanks.” He gently places his hand on your chin, turning your face in order to look into your eyes.
You feel like you’ve been placed under a beautiful spotlight. He looks at you like he’s trying to memorize how your face changes as it goes. The way he wraps his arms around your waist has you feeling like you're melting into him. Even though you’ve been in a relationship for a little over two years it still doesn’t quite feel real that the richest man in Gotham’s second (or third) favorite pastime is looking at you. Any second now you expect that it’ll all come to an end in the worst possible way but for now you’re perfectly content to tilt your head and accept his soft lips on yours. The noise of the train tracks, the conductor's muffled voice, and the voices of the teens in the car all fade away as if they never existed in the face of his sudden affection. You pull away only when your body forces you to take a breath. The rosy flush on Bruce’s cheeks, combined with dilated pupils, somehow makes him look even more gorgeous.
You smile and playfully punch his arm.“Look at you making out on the subway, now you’re just like every other Gothman young adult.”
“Gotham’s elite, they’re just like you,” he whispers before kissing you again with a smile on his face.
It’s such a sweet moment, you wish that you could stop time right there and never have to face leaving that subway car.
-
You’re used to seeing Thelma in shitty apartments that come with three locks because of the bad neighbors but it seems that her new place is a rather nice townhouse. You ring the doorbell and she answers the door surprisingly quickly.
You talk before she does. “I don’t want to bother you, I just want to know her name. Or anything you know about her really.”
Thelma taps her hands against the doorframe. “Only if you promise me you’re not going to try and kick her ass or something.”
“I promise, very innocent motives of looking for some answers.” You say bringing your hands up defensively.
Thelma lets you in and you sit on her couch as she rummages through a stack of papers before finding the right one. As it turns out, Mystery Woman is not the name she was born with, instead, her name is actually Selina Kyle. Pretty but tragically normal sounding. She’s a waitress at a club. All very normal things. Apparently, Thelma’s file is missing her activities with Batman but you’re not going to be the one to bring that up.
“So, what are you going to do now?” Thelma asks, interrupting your reading,
“Isn’t it obvious?” you pull out a sticky note with an address on it. “I found this on Bruce’s desk, I think I’ll pay her a visit.”
“Okay, I’m not going to ask about how you’re sure about the address. I do want to be sure that you’re not going to be a bitch to her about this?”
“Well of course not,” you scoff. “I just… want to hear her side of the story you know? So I have the facts straight and he can’t lie to me.”
“You have such noble reasoning.” Thelma deadpans.
“Thanks for seeing it that way Thelms.” You get up to leave. “I’ll see you later and hey, I’ll tell you how this goes.”
The second you step out of Thelma’s house the heavy rain from earlier picks up again. However this time you forgo the subway in exchange for taking a taxi.
-
Blüdhaven does not make Selina Kyle happy. Instead, it makes her feel like she traded a rock for a hard place. She’s not one to quit though, so she gives it a try anyway. When the trial run ends she finds herself missing Gotham, missing Vengeance , and wanting more than the shitty mundanity her new home offered her. Homesickness was one hell of a drug for making her long for Gotham’s crime-ridden and rain-soaked streets. She leaves Blüdhaven because hey when things go wrong in Gotham City again at least she’ll have somewhere else to stay while things settle down.
However, now as she stares at Bruce Wayne’s wife standing on her doorstep, shaking from the cold with hair soaked from the rain, Selina wishes she had stayed in Blüdhaven and the reclusive billionaire had stayed a recluse far away from her.
After all, she knows two things for sure: never believe a man when he says he’s leaving his wife for you and never settle for being a man’s mistress. Anytime she agreed to be the latter it was always for the sake of the score and it never involved her personal feelings. Unfortunately, there was no score with Bruce Wayne (at least not anymore), and it had all jumbled together into a ball of just personal feelings (at least on her end).
“Can I come in?” Your voice is low and a little shaky. “I’m sorry to show up so late, I hope it’s not too much of a… hassle.”
Selina steps to the side and motions for you to come in. “I can imagine why you're here but you can’t blame a girl for wanting to hear it said out loud.”
“I’m just looking for a conversation. Promise.”
“Sorry but I usually don’t feel sorry for the wives,” Selina says bluntly, handing you a towel.
“I wouldn’t either,” you laugh humorlessly. “I bet they’re terrible.”
“You don’t know the half of it.” The irritation is clear in her voice, there’s no use trying to hide that she isn’t looking forward to this.
“Entitled rich women?” You sigh. “Yeah, I wish I didn’t have any experience with them.”
That’s right, Selina vaguely remembered the tabloids flooded with stories about the Prince of Gotham marrying someone who certain people considered far below his station. Weird how time flies, you sure look like one of them now.
“You want anything?” She asks, opening the fridge to look at the offerings.
“Sure, you got a light?” You pull out a crumpled pack of cigarettes. “Do me a favor and don’t tell Brucie I’ve picked up a bad habit, he’d flip.”
“Brucie?” Selina smiles, lighting your cigarette. “He hates it when I call him that.”
You take a drag of the cigarette. “He’s probably just being shy.”
“If you say so… I tried it once and he just stared at me like I ran over his dog,” she says, picking up a cat. “He really wears his heart on his sleeve, maybe that's why he doesn’t leave the house much.”
You look at her oddly, like she said the wrong thing but you don’t make any comment on it. Instead, you ask a question more fitting to the situation.
“So, how’d you two meet?”
She wonders if you want the sordid details. In another situation perhaps with a friend yeah, she could see herself gossiping about Bruce Wayne’s odd behavior in bed but this is a different scenario, one that calls for a bit of less is more so she chooses her words carefully.
“The club I work at. He walked in to see some real shady types one night. I didn’t mean to talk to him it just sort of happened. He was an asshole sure, rich and out of touch, but there was something about him. A look of hidden vulnerability you don’t see often. We gave each other fake names at first can you believe that? It didn’t work for him, he’s too recognizable in the end but mine? It lasted longer.”
“Did he ever mention me?”
She hesitates. “I don’t think you want the in-depth details, honey.”
“Guess I wasn’t that relevant then.”
Ouch. The pain in your voice hurts her. It’s not like he didn’t talk about you, but it was always nonpersonal things like ‘my wife’s been really busy lately’ or ‘it’s late I should get home before my wife notices’ or ‘somedays I think I should leave my wife, she deserves better than this’ and never follow up with the why or the how. Not quite the things that should be shared so she goes in a different direction.
“He likes to keep his clothes on. You know, during the act.”
“Not quite the information I wanted but, I suppose that’s interesting to hear.”
“He cries sometimes. And he’s always playing that gloomy music like Nirvana or My Chemical Romance. I don't think it's romantic but he says it is, which of course makes it romantic.”
That makes you laugh. It’s a sweet noise despite everything. “So we are talking about the same man after all. I was starting to think I might have the wrong apartment.”
That’s how it goes for a while. You ask questions and Selina gives responses that range from not what I asked for to extremely vague to the straight-up non-answer. But it’s enough to paint a picture, even if it’s the picture she’s making for you. She thinks she can handle anything you ask until you start asking questions that are somehow more personal.
“Do you think it makes me weak… if I want him back after everything?” You ask softly, petting one of the black cats that decided to snuggle against you. “My dad always said I’d make a fine doormat and here I am, proving him right.”
Selina hesitates, wondering if it would be fitting to offer her advice. She shrugs.“If you want him back you have to make him beg for it. Establish dominance. Tighten the leash. No more late nights at the office. Make him the weak one.”
You chuckle. “That would be difficult. He’s got such an intimidating presence how can I compete with that?”
Dominance feels incompatible with the man that Selina knows. To her, it seems that Wayne is all vulnerableities and torment. Sure, he puts up a good front but it didn’t take much for that to crumble behind closed doors (even if what he says is often cryptic). If you didn’t see that… Well then maybe this shouldn’t be so surprising.
“I just don’t know what he’s thinking anymore. I mean not to sound ridiculous but what do you have that I don’t? No offense.”
Selina shakes her head. “None taken. Men like him want everything the world has to offer.” She pauses before giving her (slightly more) honest advice. “It’s not your fault you love him and it’s sure as hell not your fault that he’s throwing your love away. Never forget he’s the asshole who has to put in the work to gain your trust back. If… that's what you want.”
“It always goes back to the classics, follow your heart.”
“They stick around for a reason it seems.”
“I think...” you tap the cigarette against the ashtray and smile. “That under different circumstances we could’ve been good friends.”
“You’re gonna let a man get between us, baby?”
“I can’t help it. I’ll always be a little jealous that he wants you.” You muse, staring out of the wide window. “I know, I know, I’m a bad feminist.”
“It’s not our fault. They set the bar pretty high.”
You laugh together but really in what other scenario could the two of you have met?
“Do you mind if I crash here?” You ask weakly. “I don’t want to go home tonight. I know it’s weird, I don’t think there are usually many wife-mistress sleepovers but… I just can’t see him tonight and, to be honest, I don’t have anyone else.”
You have that sad look in your eyes and despite what the situation should call for, she likes you. You’re not cruel, just a little cynical, so she gives in. “Sure baby,” She clears some stuff off her couch and brings you a blanket from her room. “What's a couch between sister wives right?”
You laugh at her joke as you lie down to sleep. To Selina’s relief, you fall asleep quickly because someone decides to make his grand entrance through the open window. It’s Vengeance and when he sees the woman sleeping on her couch, he stops in his tracks.
“You didn’t tell me you had guests.”
Selina shrugs. “Wasn't really expecting to have any.” She looks at your sleeping form, and as the moonlight bounces off your expensive-looking earrings, she thinks that it would be so easy to steal them from you. Perish the thought.
Vengeance Batman picks up the box of cigarettes on her coffee table. “Didn’t take you for the smoking type.”
“They’re not mine.” Selina rolls her eyes and points at your sleeping form. “She’s the one with the bad habits.”
Batman frowns, pocketing the cigarettes. “She doesn't need this.”
Realization dawns on her. “How much of that did you hear?”
He doesn’t say anything (typical, he never answers the good questions like ‘who are you' or ‘why do you live inside an abandoned train station’).
“Eavesdropper,” she teases, smiling. “Always have to be in everyone’s business huh Batman.”
“You shouldn’t have gotten involved with Bruce Wayne.”
“Thanks but I don’t remember asking for your opinion.”
“Forget I said anything.”
“Are you jealous, Batman? Sorry, but I can’t be exclusive with a man whose name I don’t know. You could be anyone under that mask.”
He stiffens at her words and changes the subject. “I’m just here for the information like we agreed.”
“Alright then, where do you want to start?”
-
You’re half asleep when the sound of Batman’s low voice brings you straight back to the land of the living. They’re talking about some rich man associated with the mob that’s possibly connected to a recent string of murders. Serious stuff, the kind of stuff he doesn’t like to talk about with you for reasons like “separating work from work from home” or the like.
When Selina leaves the room to get something he moves some hair from your face. It’s a gentle gesture despite the rough leather gloves he’s wearing.
“I know you're awake. Let me take you home.”
You squeeze your eyes to try and keep up the appearance, only making it more obvious that you're awake.
“It’s understandable that you’re upset but-“
You open your eyes. “I’m not going to have this talk with you now, that would be absurd.”
“Then let me take you home.”
“Listen I’ll see you in the morning so for now just leave it alone,” You hiss through gritted teeth, trying desperately not to raise your voice.
“I’m not going to leave you alone that’s ridiculous,” he scoffs. “Go to sleep. You’ll wake up at home.”
He’s true to his word. You close your eyes against your will when you get tired of fighting the sleep off and somehow when you open your eyes you’re at home. Back that shared bedroom that feels like a prison and that to no one’s surprise, is empty.

What if for Omega Gotham University AU Dick’s never met Jason face-to-face and is rejecting solely based on the fact that he’s flattered by the idea but he’s happily in a relationship. Is this a capes universe? Anyway maybe down the line he and Kori break up and when Jason’s over for dinner with Dami he finally meets the omega for the first time in person! Dami’s like you had your chance Richard! So begins the secret war for Jason’s hand. Jason just wants to graduate top of his class.
Now I'm thinking about what if in the University AU Jay starts to hang around the manor more and more since Damian is very adamant they start building up their bond NOW to make it stronger in the future and then, someday, Dixk and Koro break it off shortly before the wedding and Dick is heartbroken and starts spending more time at the manor again as well to take comfort from his pack and in the beginninf, he really isn't interested in Jay. (1/?)
His girlfriend just dumoed him and he is hesrtbroken. But as time passes (months? Years?), he starts seeing the world and other possibilities with open eyes again and suddenly he can see all the appeal Damian made sure to tell him off when he first introduced Jay. Damian, fully into puberty by now, is everything but thrilled, and Dick has the greates conflict bc on one hand that's his baby brother and hw's in love, not to mention all the social norms he would break by persuing Jay now (2/?)
that Dami's picked him, but Jay's just to cute and Dami was right,he would be a perfect mate. Dami more than agrees with that and gets a little territorial with Jay to 'strengthen his claim'. All the while Jay is just over there like.... what? (3/3)
_________XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX________
I don’t know if you’re the same Anon, anon, but I put these two together, because  this speaks to me.
BUT
What IF – listen to me, what if the situation gets kind of ridiculous, because we’ll start with Jason at 17 and  Damian at 12, and Dick is 19-20, and he DOES marry Kori, and they’re happy, but… well, Kori isn’t an omega, she’s an alien and she loves Dick, but she knows there’s something he’s missing – that his pack is missing, so she starts to nudge him towards maybe listening to his baby brother and that omega he’s talking about – that would unify the family if they had an omega, yes? She’s not opposed to expanding her little family unit either;]
So Dick starts to pay attention and, damn, by the time Jay is 19 he grew and filled out, and he has this incredible nerdish charm, but he’s also training boxing in the meanwhile (therapist advised him to pick up sport and he picked up defensive one;]) so he’s also a bit stacked and growing taller with every month and Dick – who has a wife almost 6 inches taller than him – is already interested>>
Pity that Damian is so defensive all of a sudden, claiming the omega for himself only and Dick is like, Damin, he hasn’t agreed to anything yet, this is not middle ages you can’t claim someone who isn’t willing. But Damian is like, no, he will be mine, I just have to keep him available until I’m of age and able to properly court him! And he was doing well at it in the last couple years – at the Academy it’s known that if an alpha makes a move towards Todd, he will have a Wayne heir on their back so everyone stays away – and Jason, who never had a good track record with alphas or people in general, is kinda grateful for the overprotective (or so he thinks) baby alpha hanging around, because people leave him alone…
And in time Jason gets used to the kid and the fact that sometimes his butler/chauffeur will drive them somewhere to have ice cream, and while they’re at it help Jay with his English homework a bit (Alfred, as it happens, tends to agree with Damian, the pack would surely gain with such an omega and the boy deserves a better life than he’s got so far, so he’s willing to play into Damian’s little scheme) and every once in a while he’ll be invited to the Manor for Holidays
“It’s in poor taste to leave a friend of Master Damian to spend the Christmas alone, young sir. I will hear no excuses, there’s a place at the table set for you.”
Jason assume sit’s because Damian has so few friends that the family tries to keep the ones he does have happy – and he’s not entirely wrong;] – so he comes over and Alfred takes care of him. Bruce is also there, inviting and very smooth, and Jason is impressed and so, so does not believe that this is his life now. Then he meets the ever elusive Dick Grayson and is like, wow:O
So, while Dami and Dick hash it out between them for the right to have an omega, disaster strikes and the Drakes are killed and Bruce decides to take their son into his pack – the rich of Gotham will tear the kid apart – and it’s all noble and shit, but… Tim is an omega. And that changes things. Damian is like, oh no, how am I supposed to deal with two omegas in my pack?? Because he’s convinced that he’ll be the head after Bruce and will gear nothing else;]
And Timmy causes the pack dynamic to change around him – and Jason, who started to slowly cotton on to the fact that the Waynes may be trying to court him (only took him 3 years=_=) is struck with the thought that oh, now they won’t need him anymore. Thing about omegas entering new packs is that they undergo a settling period where they hash out the prime position in subtle ways – and Jason was on the way to settling into that position slowly, but Tim has now more claim as a legit adoptee, so they both feel unsure and wrong-footed, and the alphas around them are not helping (alphas don’t understand that process) and Jason decides – as the older one – to step away and lick his wounds alone, like he usually does, because Jason Todd can’t have nice things.
Except Tim won’t have that, because Tim is a baby (17) and doesn’t know what to do as an omega with a pack that acknowledges him Waynes are intimidating and scary and he wants to be good, but he was raised traditionally, where the omega has to be seen, but not heard, and he just… he doesn’t know… he just lost his patents, he can’t be an omega of a pack, he needs help, he always looked at Jason and admired him and he never wanted to unseat himTAT
Alfred sets out to fix this, but, surprisingly, it’s Bruce that goes to Jason and takes him out to a nice dinner and hashes out the situation – the truth of Damian’s odd behavior, he way their pack would very much like Jason to join them, because they’re all a little bit broken and Jason is an omega that just fits, and that, if Damian and Dick are a bit too much, then Bruce is perfectly willing to Mark Jay and make him a part of the pack. Not because they expect him to birth them pups until Tim comes of age, but because they like him.
And Jason is like, oh. He never, he never even considered having pups, he never though he’d have the security to have his own kids, never trusted into alphas giving him a choice in the matter, so he stayed away from them, but now it’s… well, it’s a nice thought, isn’t it? An idea of pups that will be cared for by a pack even when he decides to go back to school or work, that will be provided for and loved… that never even occurred to him. Even if he was the second of the pack, because Tim has better breeding, that would be more than he’d ever have otherwise…it’s tempting. He doesn’t know if he’d have kids, but the option being available is a novelty… And no one in the Wayne pack is hard on the eyes, to be honest…
…and in his deepest fantasies, in his heart of hearts, he used to dream of this, of being rescued from his crappy life by a handsome, wealthy alpha, of becoming someone’s mate – and life cured him from believing these fantasies, he set out to save himself and managed to do it, but… it’s still there, in the back of his head the little voice is weeping with joy, because this is one stupid wish he had as a kid coming true if he lets it.
And Bruce wasn’t raised in a barn, he’s aware this is a monumental decision, so he leaves Jason to think it through and makes it clear that when Jay makes his decision they will start the courting process – a proper one this time, to give him time to get used to the idea and change his mind if necessary. They won’t jump into it, he will have to accept everyone in the pack – and there’s more kids Bruce has that Jason met so far – and he doesn’t want to tear Jay away from studies, either, since it’s so important to him. Bruce is being perfectly transparent about it, like, I am perfectly ready to get the professors to home school you for the rest of the degree so we can focus on courting, but I know it’s important for you to make it through and show them that an omega can handle university just as well, and I respect that, courting will have to take a backseat. Even though every instinct in his head argues that if they don’t secure that sterling omega now they may lose him:O
He starts to understand Damian a bit>>
