Content: kidnapping, beating, bone injuries, bruising

The impact that doesn't hurt right away, and then it starts burning like it's boring a hole into your flesh. Victim holding their ribs, and then wincing and doubling over as the pain starts to hit

Pain makes you breathless, your whole body amps up

Did you know you can bruise a bone? It works similar to a fracture and hurts in a different way too, like a shocking, hissing ache. It might never go back to its original shape and be permanently dented and fragile. Same idea as the "glass jaw" phenomenon (but I think that refers to repeated breaks)

Bruises over bony areas have more obvious swelling. Swelling causes an aching pulse as blood is pumped through the area. If it's bad, whumpee might groan over and over.

Getting hit in the same place twice is going to bruise a LOT more. Inexperienced whumpee shielding the area, leading to another, more vulnerable area opening up for a hit.

Bruises stiffen over time, and if there are a lot, then any movement is going to feel like pressing on all of them at once. Victim that tries to get away when kidnapper comes into the room, only to collapse down again in agony, swearing that whatever whumper is going to do won't hurt as bad as getting up would.

there's a lovely medical term for bruising, and that's ecchymosis - and til it comes from the ancient greek for "juice where it shouldn't be" and that's just fantastic

also it's a word with a great mouthfeel we think

I fell down the other day. It hurts worse now that its healing. It was my own fault for going for a walk when the sun was going down since I have poor low light vision

me to my dermatologist: "i know i have eczema, i'm generally using brands that are fine for that, and if it was just a little dry skin i wouldn't be here. but i have a big itchy rash all along my legs and around my armpits, and there's some bad bruising on the back of my knee though i didn't injure it or anything, and now that i look there's some little spots of bruising around some of the rashes too. honestly the bruising is the part i'm most concerned about, though the itching is to the point where it's painful and leaving me more tired than normal" my dermatologist: "i understand. it's the eczema. try using a different (read: more expensive) deodorant. we'll keep an eye on the bruising. that'll be $40"
