who: open when: sometime at night where: pump you up
Another dull night in the middle of no where as Banks stood behind the counter inside, shoulders hunched up as he leaned forward to rest his elbows against the tacky surface. He’d turned up the music earlier in the night when it seemed that the rest of the town had gone to sleep, nothing more than a ghost town which was far from the world that he’d come out of which left him feeling unsettled at the silence. It began to creep up on him as he tuned out the rest of the world and focused on the music, drumming his fingers against the countertop to the beat of the song as he left his pack in his locker in the back. The last time that he’d been caught out on the floor had left him with a warning and the slushie taken out of his paycheck.
It took him another minute or two to notice that someone was in the shop as the music blared overhead, loud enough to wake the dead as he scowled before reaching over to turn it down enough that he could hear them. And their possible complaints. “Yeah?”

OPEN
Location: Galaxy Comic Book Store (or elsewhere if your character wouldn’t go there)
Elise almost gave a little bounce as she spoke. “Okay, here is a question for you. So someone was writing a theme song about your life, what would the title be?” she asked, giving a smile as she stopped in front of them. “I just think it’s always so curious. It’s often so easy to write about other people.”

“Whatcha think?” Danny’s husky voice was sprinkled with a tone of excitement as one of his tattooed arms gestured vaguely to the dispensary door. Hanging against the glass was a typical looking closed sign except this one said “sorry, we’re stoned.”  He hadn’t passed it with the owner or manager but Danny was certain that either nobody would notice, or would love it as much as he did. If they really hated it, they could just remove it, right? No harm done. Quickly, he glanced to the person that he was speaking to and flashed them a snoozy grin. “We’re not actually stoned-, er...closed.” his words fumbled a little and he chuckled, mostly to himself. “We’re open, fully stocked.” he finally spoke with a clearer voice, gently tapping two of his fingers against the glass, almost as if he was having a sordid love affair with the damn sign.

the phoenix ! ( open for — all ! )
Tumblr media Tumblr media
with the glass-ringed bar top and gaudy neon it was no surprise that bradford springs’ dive bar seemed to encourage the same sorts of clientele . the ruffians , the nomads , the drunkards — if the bartenders began to recognise you and knew your name in a single glance , you were in trouble . by that point in his life , striker cannon was shrouded in infamy whenever his tattered converse graced the beer-slicked ground of the public house ; with hardly a dollar to his name , he had a system — one that he would patent , if only he had the means — of ‘ borrowing ‘ abandoned drinks to create a cocktail . whether it stung the roof of his mouth or left him , curled up , in the gutter out back , such a potion got the job done . if he wasn’t slurring by the time the clock struck twelve , he was doing something wrong .
and so that night , clutching a pale orange mixture of beer , wine and spirits , he sauntered to the jukebox , ramming his palm above the coin slot again , and again , and again .. it was a technique that worked in his youth , one passed down to his two brothers , and yet the jukebox only spluttered in response , barely coughing out a single note nor melody in reply to the eldest cannon’s rough hand . “ hey , you — “ a gesture to the first figure at his side , “ — you got me a coin i could borrow ?? “

location: city park availability: open
He was sprawled out on the bench like a cat. Long legs occupying the entire space available. A to go latte in one hand and a cigarette in the other, he watched the people passing by. He had not even picked up the book he brought with him. Some random choice off Oskar’s shelf at the house. Probably a boring read, anyways. Something about how to make the most out of monotony. He was mildly shocked he had not chained Zakarias to some desk at the resort so he could keep a close eye on him. No matter, he had no intention of causing his brother any more trouble. At least, not today.
“Sorry, this seat is occupied.” He droned to the shadow in his peripheral. After another beat he looked over and assessed the person up and down without shame. “Can I help you? Lose your ball? Need to find your mommy or something?” Zak listed unamused. “If it is the latter, what does she look like and is she, perhaps, single?”

Location: Bradford Springs Farmer’s Market during the Winter Festival Open to: Anyone (5/5)
THIS STARTER IS NOW CLOSED
Tumblr media
Nathaniel tucked his wallet back into the pocket of his thick green work coat and swapped the cash for the hot chocolate. He didn’t know what to expect in terms of a crowd, but he was out of books and in his month in Colorado he hadn’t done much exploring. As he adjusted the lead on his service dog, Cosmo, who leaned against his leg, Nate practically talked to his boots, though really there were enough people within earshot to hear him, “Umm, do you happen to know where The Last Chapter is or if there’s a pop up selling books?” His fingers combed through the scruff of the dog’s coat before he straightened up with a slow breath to calm his nerves, he could do this- one hour in a crowd tops, he’d promised Cosmo and he was sticking to it.

*    ◟  open starter /  the phoenix ,  around 10:30pm.
it was supposed to be a typical ( uneventful ) night at the phoenix, if it weren’t for the crowd gathered around the small brunette, and twice-her-size southsider playing pool. it was ( obviously ) a mistake to push ayda’s buttons and say she couldn’t take three shots of tequila and play, because if there was something she never backed down from, it was a challenge. and while she did agree to play along and ignore all the cheering that was definitely not for her benefit ( the man had a lot of southside friends ) , it took her exactly 48 seconds to push almost every ball in it’s rightful place, the crowd going silent after realizing she was better than she originally seemed. ❝ looks like i’ll be goin’ home with those fifty bucks after all, ❝  she commented on the bet they made, offering her opponent a smirk as she confidently stood before them. ❝— is your wallet getting heavier now? or do you still want to call it beginner’s luck? ❝

open starter  (3/4) at: ambrosia coffee co, noon.
-
Just because he had an office didn’t mean he was chained to his desk. Sometimes Roman replied to emails on the move, and he’d always stock up on a caffeine fix and take a moment or two to relax. While focusing on his phone, he heard a relentless tapping from the next table over and glanced to see the person’s pen tapping over and over again on their book. Roman sighed, his hand reaching for his earbuds only to remember leaving them at his desk. Great. Now that he noticed the noise, it was impossible to ignore it or tune it out into nothing. He kept glancing over, until finally he cleared his throat. “Great Phil Collins impression, bud. Keep it up.”

location: festival near the stage  availability: open
Festivals and any large crowded place wasn’t really Finn’s thing. Still, he ended up there because he secretly loved Stevie Nicks and had never seen her live before. Plus he could never say no to a good party and the night life at any of Bradford Springs’ events was bound to be a good time.
His first stop was getting a corndog, because they were always better at a fair or festival. The next was the brewery’s truck to get something to drink to go along with his food. Honestly it was likely to be one of many trips there because Finn wouldn’t be Finn without some sort of drink in his hand. He turned and looked toward the stage to see them setting up for the show. It wouldn’t be dark for another hour but he was debating getting a good spot anyways. Not paying attention he walked right into someone, luckily saving the beer from spilling. “What the fuck, man? First time walkin’ or what?” He grimaced at the other person even though it was likely not their fault at all.

WHO: open
WHERE: downtown, late morning
Tumblr media
Shoulders are pressed to the rough brick exterior of the coffee shop as Rhys makes an exit only to pause a few steps beyond the door and lean back against the wall. A coffee cup and a half-empty soft pack of Marlboro Reds are clutched in one hand as the other pops the lid off the cup and balances it between his lips so he can reach for the flask tucked in his back pocket. It’s a whole series of gestures and movements and Rhys digs the heel of a boot into the sidewalk to hold his balance as he shuffles for a second before retrieving the palm-sized, silver container. Lid still caught in his teeth, he unscrews the cap and pours a modest splash of amber liquid into the coffee, otherwise black save for a generous pour of sugar — not enough to feel any sort of buzz from the liquor, just enough to offer a little extra warmth on a brisk Colorado morning and relax a little of the tension that’s settled in his neck and shoulders from another poor night’s sleep. He can feel a pair of eyes on him as he goes to screw the cap back on and bright, cerulean gaze flickers up from his drink with an inquisitive squint. His head cocks into a curious lean as he mumbles around flimsy plastic. “What? Irish coffee in the morning never hurt nobody. It’s late enough, anyway. Almost noon.” He sniffs, pulls the lid from his mouth to lick his lips and nods toward the other’s cup. “You want a little too or something?”

Bishanpal wasn’t sure about this whole cowboy thing - he figured it was a cowboy thing - and he had gladly sat out the whole thing in his house, not going into town aside from getting groceries. Maybe just order in for several days straight, till he got to know the delivery people well.
Instead, he had heard about a Chili Cook-Off - and had to look it up on google to see what that actually meant - and decided: this was a good way to do something he liked, throw himself out there, and overcome his fear of crowds.
Of course, he was only about fifty percent sure he was doing what he was supposed to do. He had a collection of bamboo plates, and offered the extremely spicy chili (using some recipe he had found online together with whatever spices he felt like he needed to add in order to actually bring out any flavour) to the first person to walk past. “You look like you might be interested in burning your throat.”

“Is anyone else like, ridiculously hype for ski season or is that just me? I haven’t heard any of the locals talking about it so maybe everyone’s just like, over it here. But I’m so ready, oh my god. I just ordered a new snowboard and I can’t wait until it gets here.”

Leya & Open Start of the Hike Group 1 “Alright, looks like we got a good group and you’re all ready to go.” She smiled walking through the group, “you guys just stay hydrated and we’re going to have some fun a long the way. Keep to the trail and we go in as a team we come out as a team.” Her brow raised as she stopped pacing her smile only growing wider, “got it?”
With definite answers from everyone she had noticed one of the kids and shot them a wink don’t worry, “you’ll be fine. This one is pretty low impact.” She nodded to the person beside them, “and we got a few good people to look out for you.”

who: open to anyone where: just outside the griffith at night
Elena was clueless as to how it had all happened. One day she was minutes away from marrying the supposed love of her life and the next, she was waiting tables for the first time in her life. Not that she was terrible at it, because taking the orders mentally was sorting items like she did for her old job and the steady stream of lists that she made for all her life decisions ( except this one ). But she had been lucky to get a job at all so quickly, even without the experience needed as she glanced up from her stream of thoughts to see someone standing there. “Sorry, I was just taking my break outside,” she spoke as she moved to the side of the step. “I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to how quiet it can be sometimes at night here.”

open to anyone at: a street corner, downtown - afternoon
-
Tumblr media
Downtown was busy which meant anyone holding up the pavement would cause a mild traffic jam of pedestrians. People having to weave in and out or come to a stop suddenly. Thankfully for Cordelia, they didn’t care. Propped just to the side of a street corner, still in the way of everyone else they began unlacing their boot. It took some time, especially with one hand. Yanking the boot off they tipped it upside down to release the stone that had been annoying them for several blocks.  “Thank fuck. I was about to scream.” they mumbled, glancing over their shoulder to someone trying to get by. “Hope you’re not running late, I still have to lace this bad boy back up.”

--open starter --location: downtown, outside of Valentine’s, late afternoon
Charlie wasn’t necessarily a man who believed in luck, but if he were, he would have said that the day had been dealing him the shittiest hand. From the second he walked into Valentine’s, things had been going awry-- lights had gone out and the kitchen sink backed up, two deliveries were late, and he found himself just understaffed enough to mean he was pulling more than his own weight.
So he was outside, leaned against the brick wall of the dive bar, fingers pressed to temples while he took a five-minute break. He wished it was a smoke break, but it had (regretfully) been years since he’d last had a cigarette. Just as he was about to turn back inside, there was a sharp crack from somewhere above, and a chunk of brick tumbled down from the top of the wall, landing with a dusty thud on the sidewalk.
“You saw that, right?” he asked as he caught sight of a passerby. “Or am I hallucinating my damn building falling apart?”
