DC Families as Insect Orders

I love DC and I'm studying to be an entomologist. This was only a matter of time... completely subjects, feel free to make your own versions!

Arrowfamily

Dictyoptera - mantis and cockroach

Roaches get a really bad rep but they are so important for the planet, just like how the arrowfamily is so important for DC!

Also the mantis are known for thier quick striking, like the arrowfamilies skills with bows and marital arts.

Aquafamily

Odanata - dragonflies and damselflies

One of the few insect orders where there is both an aquatic and terrestrial stage. Dragonflies are the best hunters with a 95-98% success rate (best of any animal) which I feel matches the strength of the aquafamily.

Batfamily

Lepidoptera - butterflies and moths

A bit out there but lepidoptera are best known for their wings, the batfam often reference their love of flight.

This order also has both nocturnal and daytime animals, which fits the batfamily having members partol in day and night!

Superfamily

Hemiptera - true bugs (cicadas, aphid, etc)

Was gonna go with coleoptera but I think this work as the superman symbol is seen as the true heroes like how hemiptera are true bugs.

Wonderfamily

Coleoptera - beetles and weevils

Beetles are well known for their strength and fighting ability, like how the wonderfamily is.

They have a hard elytra which works with their invulnerability.

Green Lantern Corps

Hymenoptera - ants, bees, and wasps.

Although they are all part of the same orde are the most diverse group of insects. I feel this matches the lanterns as they are full of characters from a range of species (human to planets).

This order is also known for their strength and teamwork, fitting for the lanterns.

I DO LIKE BUGS!!!!!!!

Do you mean my favorite moth species or my favorite bug species in general? I will answer both :D

I don’t know very many moth species but I really enjoy the ones that look “boring” because there are actually so many of them!! And they’re all slightly different!! And I think that’s cool. My favorite charismatic moth species is the Ailanthus Webworm Moth!

It looks like a beetle or a true bug, and then when it flies it looks like a wasp, but it’s actually a moth!!! Sneaky sneaky. It actually didn’t used to be very common in my area because it usually lived further south, but as climate change warms everything up it is a lot more common to see now. It’s still considered native though! So yay.

I also really like dragonflies!! Specifically damselflies. They’re cool and pretty. This is one of the prettiest dragonflies I’ve ever found. It’s called a Great Blue Skimmer. It was MASSIVE

Fireflies are also very awesome.

Oh and katydids! Here’s a cool one I found recently. It’s called a fork-tailed bush katydid

Did you know that 1/3 of all insects are beetles? I learned that the other day and it’s a very fun fact hehehhehe

I love bugs a lot. They’ve become like a mild special interest lately. They make me so happy 🤗🤗🤗

I was testing out brushes in krita! ...still without my pen, but I think it turned out better than I thought? Don't know, ENJOY THE BUGSSSSSS!! (I love the idea of them being the same size as their bug species but then I couldn't do anything with the humans in the game... Entomology archive au but with the pre-fear world in mind. jon and sasha work with preserved specimens, martin is a new hire and likes working with the spiders, michael (shelley) raises a whole bunch of different bugs to study (his favorites r butterflies and praying mantises). jane studies carrion eating bugs and tells everyone else their horoscope. annabelle cane is the boss actually. none of them have experienced the fears so they dont have to worry about it!!!!!! they are having a grand old time working with some bugs! I feel emotions about this
