Decided to look up N1 kanji for funsies and there are so many where I'm like, how the hell is this N1 I see this kanji all the time??
And then I realise I see them all the time because they're in like, place names and stuff, and they're not actually that common otherwise
#nutcracker nihongo#but there are definitely some where i'm like. why the hell would that be n1#価 for example?? you see that any time you go shopping#検? 保? 故? 弁? 描? 災? 免? 案? 器? 桜? 泣? 豆? 嫌? i know those ones through exposure alone#but like 宮 and 沢 and 江 and 崎 and 仙 surprised me until i realised i mostly know them from places#or there are some really specific ones and i see them and i'm like wait i know that kanji what is that#and i look it up and it's like. oh right yeah 堀 is moat of course i know that one from walking around the castle#of course i know 剣 = sword bc of all the ff7 playthroughs i've watched#yes i know 鬼 = ogre/demon bc it's on one of the vocab lists for this one class i teach#anyway this is your reminder to go drink your immersion juice folks
