I always like how Rick writes characters as like "there were just too many campers to remember, so and so and so and so and John Deer" and then 1) somehow the characters always remember everyone's names 2) there isn't actually that many of them, according to ttc-tlo there's probably about 100-150 campers-ish and a lot of them have died in the various battles before hoo, annabeth says that they've claimed a lot of new campers since then but say a lot even if they double or triple the number say there is like 200-400 campers (which I think based on the amount of beds possible in the configuration mentioned even 200 would be a lot) then that's still smaller than most US highschools and I don't know about everyone else but I feel like after a year or two you'd start to know everyone even if not well then at least by first and last name and cabin and be able to recognize them in looks, just like in school.... but 3) Rick describes a large camp with that many characters but when it comes to actually writing under that direction he doesn't follow it, for example Leo's just been introduced to all of his cabin for the first time there's 4 names listed plus Jake back at their cabin so 5. He says it's too many to keep up with and then a few pages later describes an unnamed "couple of guys" working on a project in the forges, and a few pages after that there is "a couple of girls" working on a project but the only "girl name" we were given was Nyssa's and she's actively talking to Leo... which I get that sitting through a list of like 20 names would get boring so I do understand the need to cut somewhere but we don't really come back around and get those names at any point - and it's the same with the Apollo cabin in ToA, we're told enrollment numbers are lower because of battles and such but the Apollo cabin is said to be one of the largest but there's not even 10 campers by ToA and per my bit on the basketball conversation there's obviously unnamed Apollo campers around Will's age ish but somehow Apollo never mentions them in ToA? Will never does? It's not an inconsistency but it kind of is? This weird like "there's so many people but don't ask me to recall all their names! I dont know either!" Which this works okay in Percy's first 5 books because everything is 1st person pov and past tense, so you can blame it on the flaw or memory or him not wanting to write down unnecessary details but when you get to HoO it's 3rd person pov and present tense so they are actively going through these events with no memory of them... what even...

yesterday i saw an apartment in like what's considered the best city to live in here esp for young ppl (so it's got extremely expensive rent. as you can guess) and it was decent. the landlord was very like. pushy? and a bit aggressive to the point that we now got the text from the real estate agent we went through where he convinced him to be flexible with our terms and prices and such. but bc of his vibe i said no. but this apartment was lovely and in an extremely insanely good location (and he agreed to lower rent to a price you might find in cheaper neighborhoods or cities). however. part of me also got scared bc idk if i can live in this city...... i simply do not have the tel avivi temperament i don't even smoke weed i'm not even vegan.. idk if i could handle it.......
