I offer the frankly hilarious scenario of zenos and estinien having to work together (probably because of tataru) and a little bit of headcanon-ing I have in regards to the one main issue they run in to when theyre a duo.

Scaleswind being tucked strategically and safely in the cradle of a mountain crater, allowing for innovative ways to get out and about the mountains. Scaleswind inspiring bright and brilliant minds.

I also just like Nicole's whole disguise. In s1, she says that her look isn't what she actually looks like and that she's hiding from her father. But sometimes the best disguises are the ones that aren't far from the truth.

Plenty of people know about Scaleswind and try and get into their academies. She just looks like your average rumpled "college" student trying to make it in the world.

there's just this increasingly unpleasant vibe on this website i think where a pretty decent number of people will ostensibly self id feminists while still being really desperate at all times to find acceptable women they can hate and make fun of without reservation. both celebrities and normal strangers. and it's like, why. at the end of all things what is the point of taking the tenth 22 year old in a row whose influence stops and ends at a viral microblogging post where she's wrong about something and circulate it context-free declaring 'feminism is over' besides feeling better about yourself and your beliefs and your public speech acts

“i could have screenshotted something more complicated and impressive” and it’s a photo of a math problem with the most exponents i’ve ever seen in one equation (i am an english major, i purposely avoid all math)!! that’s SUCH a cool degree path!!

well not to talk about astrophysics on my demon porn game blog BUT. actually when you see anything with 10 to the power of a number that's mostly just a way of keeping the size of it under control. like there's a Lot of metres in a planetary orbit or what have you so you just put 10^6 instead of 1000000. i've found in general that basic astrophysics is surprisingly simple for what it is; i actually think that it could mostly be taught in highschools if it wasn't so specialised that no school would offer it.

but that's one thing that makes it very easy for people to get into at an amateur level, and amateur citizen scientists contribute to astronomy discoveries all the time! in particular, stuff like Galaxy Zoo cannot be done by AI (because AI is shitty at it) so anybody can join in and help out in exploring the cosmos if they feel like it! it doesn't even take maths, you're just looking at images of galaxies and sorting them into visual categories!

anyway yeah as you can probably tell i'm really enjoying it lmao. i'm very lucky to live at a point on the earth where cool stars and our nearby galactic neighbours the large and small magellanic clouds are circumpolar in the sky (they never set year round, so we can always see them), and i'm also super lucky to live in a country that didn't just cut government funding to all their big fancy telescopes and kind of cancel years of pre-planned science :/ oof

but yeah sorry if any of you are wondering why i'm so busy. maths is involved i'm afraid

Honestly REEDA's main design in my head fits Ford's lab, so it's a very retro cassette-futuristic style like you've illustrated. Think: how did people imagine the future was going to look in 197-something. All Commodores and IBM and thick plastic etc.

Ford's lab in mtb is designed with that exact aesthetic in mind, so terminals and things like this were at the forefront of my mind:

These types of terminals are primarily in the mainframe room that Reader goes through to access the lab. It's all set up with things like the above. Whereas REEDA's central screens in the main body of the lab look more like the ones in The Forbin Project:

Except they're a mix of both of those aesthetics, so they're weirdly long CRT monitors suspended in a similar layout to the above!

Here's another ss from Forbin bc it works along similar lines! And also it's a great movie and you should watch it!

#i really honestly think Ford's favourite movie is Alien #and so in mtb he just wanted a cool Nostromo type lab #and i thought the idea was funny and cute and in character so #also b u t t o n s #i think he's also incredibly nostalgic for a time he left behind and even though he dislikes tech when he leaves #he HAS to make use of it in alternate dimensions so grows a grudging acceptance for it #and i think he's AWFUL with earth tech and when he comes back and sees how minimalist everything is he hates it even more #but he's forced to engage with alien tech in his travels so he becomes used to it a bit more #and so he combines that aesthetic nostalgia with the advanced ability of alien tech #which is how he designs his lab #he prefers old-style ways of recording (his journals) but he knows he HAS to make use of digital record keeping to some extent #and he's come to understand its applications in foreign environments #so while he still records everything on paper #he utilises other aspects of tech if he has to #but he complains about it the whole time and he'd really just be happy with 8000 filing cabinets of a4 and a biro #but really considering all the information he retains and works on it means he needs a specialist set up #anyways shut UP fox we get it you like worldbuilding for this guy UGH enough #asks #ford asks #wb #mtb stuff #ALSO we do see that he makes use of tech in LL and so I think he makes himself get on with it where he has to #just to defend myself a bit #bc i know some people think he'd be very tech-phobic in general #but i disagree to a certain extent #like yes but actually also no #AND remember that Fidds installed REEDA #ford had no say in it #he just begrudgingly goes along with it and gradually learns that actually its quite useful (though he won't admit it)#anways I digress that was a real tirade for no real reason im just very passionate about Ford's experiences with alien tech

I'm not even 15 minutes into rewatching Interstellar and I think there is a chance my imagination is running wild again . . .

I have at least half a loose fic plot already hELP.

#okay brace yourself these tags are gonna be long. sorry in advance. now picture this:#carlando are on earth. carlos goes on the mission to find a new home for humanity. lando stays behind and is upset about carlos leaving #the mission also includes oscar. martin is on earth and one of lando's friends who supports him while he's missing carlos #osc and carlos start on the wrong foot but get along more along the way. idk who else is on the mission use your imagination for now #yadda yadda space shenanigans . . . relativity . . . fun stuff #black hole time. carlos sacrifices himself to save osc so that he has a chance to find a new home for humanity #osc is devastated. carcar crumbs. they were all they had left for a while. and now osc is alone #carlos gets a message back to lando thanks to black hole magic. lando realizes that carlos never abandoned him at all.#lando leads the project to save humanity from earth w/ carlos' intel. once successful he goes on to live a long full life.#as much as he still loves carlos he knows that he might not come back until the very end of lando's life. if at all.#he knows carlos wouldn't want him to be alone and unhappy if he couldn't be there. norrix becomes canon and they have a happy life together #carlos is found many many years later virtually unaged thanks to relativity. he has a chance to say goodbye to lando who's very very old #he's happy that he helped save earth and that lando was able to have a good life. he missed so much time but at least it was worth it #there's just one more thing he feels the need to do. osc is still out there. on the planet that will be humanity's new home. all alone #he commandeers a ship and goes to find him. he has lost so much already . . . but he has a chance to hold onto at least one thing #he loved lando with his whole heart. and even though lando is gone . . . maybe he can still have a happy life of his own #*and scene*#yeah i think that's like half the plot right there . . .#i'm committing. it's going on the list #interstellar au #which at various times will feature:#carlando #norrix #carcar #this is one of my top 10 fave movies this project will definitely receive a lot of care

Sometimes I think I desperately want a star trek show or movie or something that revisits ds9 and what they're doing now....and then I think about how none of the new shows can seem to quite capture the....the vibes. The atmosphere (the film cameras and lack of advanced technology tbh) of the older shows and I just sigh and realize I don't actually want anything about ds9
