3k of project emt! I picked a path here for the mitties and stuck with it, so if that's not your jam I respect it, because I didn't think it was mine either, but. here we are. relevant tags below the cut. max pov! explicit! (max/yuki and max/daniel)

Max is chatting with Gabi about tire temps in the hallway- there's not immediately any cameras or boom mics around, which is, he's sure, the only reason Gabi even thinks about it.

They're laughing about a joke Crane had made off stream the other night, getting ready to leave, when Gabi darts forward. Max assumed it's for a hug, so he's thoroughly unprepared for Gabi to nose at his neck, hands snaking up the front of his chest and squeezing.

He doesn't mean to gasp- it's not appropriate, wildly out of form- but Gabi's thin fingers are gone as quickly as they'd appeared.

"Thank you dame!"

It's tossed over his shoulder with a bright grin as Gabi leaves, and Max is left standing in the hallway, cheeks bright red. It's not Gabi's fault, he couldn't possibly have known how sensitive Max's chest has gotten.

Still. Max needs to get a handle on things. The dame instincts are getting out of hand.

Max doesn't consider Yuki one of the pups- he's just old enough to not trigger Max's instincts, but he's still not entirely close with the other omega.

At least, he didn't think so.

He might need to reevaluate. Yuki comes into his hotel room after an impromptu meeting about the car, and Max had been able to see the incredulous expression he'd been wearing throughout the meeting.

The car is definitely worse than they're letting on.

The other omega doesn't even knock- just lets himself into Max's room, swinging the door shut behind him as he toes his shoes off and advances towards where Max is lounging on the bed playing FIFA.

"Yuki?"

Max pauses the game, trying to parse out Yuki's scent. Irritation, worry, stress- he's confused for a moment on the more subtle notes before he realizes Yuki is also wet.

Yuki doesn't slow in his approach, hopping up onto the bed and crawling over Max, tossing his controller to the side before he straddles his hips, face dropping down into Max's chest.

"This team is fucked, why did no one say anything?"

Max decides it's probably best not to mention that he's been saying things. He runs a hand down Yuki's back, comforting in the way he does for the pups, even if this situation is decidedly different- Yuki has one of Max's thighs pinned between his own, and his fingers are pushing up underneath his shirt.

Usually when a pack member storms in wanting to fuck, it's one of the alphas.

"It is a good chance to prove yourself?"

Max offers it weakly, and Yuki lifts his head to glare at him as he tugs at Max's shirt, pulling it off over his head.

"I don't want your press answers, I want-"

His hands slide up Max's abs, and he shivers when Yuki's hands cup his chest, pupils dilating.

The moan that rips out of him when Yuki squeezes is a noise Max will need to take to his grave. His head drops back, and his scent sweetens with the notes of slick and arousal. Max lifts his head, offended, and Yuki grins wide at him before he drops his head down, wrapping his lips around one of Max's nipples as he squeezes again.

Max jerks up, hands flying to Yuki's hair as his eyes roll back. It feels so good, like he's right on the precipice of something, but he can't quite get there.

Yuki purrs, hips rolling into Max's thigh harder as he sucks, bringing Max closer to the edge as he switches to the other side.

The older omega looks thoroughly unimpressed.

"Let me see it."

He makes a grab for Ollie's chest, who shuffles backwards.

"Mate, don't tit grab, it's rude."

Gabi snorts, and Yuki rolls his eyes.

"The entire pack knows what you are up to, let me see the list."

Ollie tugs it from his shirt, passing it over. Yuki snags the pen from where it's tucked behind Jack's ear, scrawling a new line at the bottom.

Kimi feels the blood rush out of his head at the new line, eyes going wide as he looks at Yuki.

Liam's eyes bug out of his head, and he's whipping his head back around to the older omega.

"Does it-"

Yuki frowns.

"I can tell it is there. I'm not sure Max knows it is there."

He shrugs.

"There is buildup. He will produce for you all, since you are pups."

Kimi's mouth is watering. He'd known coming into Formula 1 that things would be different- they'd gotten extreme lucky that their pack omega is as kind and welcoming as Max has been, and they're even luckier that Max's instincts have latched onto them.

Having a dame- most of them haven't had a dame since Formula 3, the last category where teams are required to have one on site.

Yuki wiggles his finger at them.

"Behave."

He leaves, door swinging shut behind him. There's a beat of silence.

And then a second one.

They're all scrambling at once a moment later, reevaluating, trying to figure how best to tackle this new information.

They need to know.

"Hey, Max."

Brad steps into his room, hands casually in his pockets. He's got scent blocking patches on, so Max can't pick up on his scent, but he looks relaxed.

Max pauses his laptop where he's been watching onboards, turning his attention to Brad.

"Brad?"

His trainer shifts, taking a deep breath before steeling himself, and Max narrows his eyes, wary.

"I wanted to talk to you about some biological stuff? And I'm not sure we're on the same page, mate."

Max shuts his laptop. This seems like... not a short conversation. He leans back against the couch, sighing.

"The dame thing has really fucked with me, honestly. I have no idea what's going on."

Brad winces.

"Yeah, about that. I think maybe you're suppressing some of those instincts?"

Max makes a face. He's much better about listening to his instincts now than he'd been when he was younger- he used to be terrible about it. Sure, the new instincts with the pups have been throwing him off, but he's still trying to listen.

"Not on purpose."

Brad nods.

"I didn't think so, I just, uh. I take it you didn't really have a dame in your life?"

He's right. Max hasn't gotten to spend all that much time with his own mother, and he'd never been allowed to spend time with the team dames that karting crews had- it was a glaring sign of weakness. Seb was the pack omega when Max had made it to Formula 1, but he wasn't a dame- although knowing what Max knows now, he wonders if spending time around Seb as a pup his rookie year could've changed that.

Probably not. Being a pup hadn't mattered anywhere else.

Max winces.

"Not really."

Brad reaches into his backpack, pulling out paper packets.

"Yeah, I figured. I printed you out some research and all that if you want to read on your own time, but mainly there's. Um. I've got a slightly awkward question for you, and I promise I'm only asking as your physio, okay?"

Max narrows his eyes.

"Okay...?"

"Are you producing?"

Max blinks at him.

"What?"

"Like. Milk."

The flush starts at his cheeks and ears, and Max buries his face into his hands,trying to ignore the hot flash of embarrassment that shoots through him. He'd been wondering-

"Ah, no? But-"

If there was ever someone Max should be honest to, it's Brad.

"-my chest has been feeling weird?"

Brad purses his lips, nodding.

"I'm going to be honest, I'm not specialized with dames, mate. I went over it in school, but it's not my specialty. Are you okay if I reach out to a peer about it? Try and figure out what's best for your situation?"

Max winces, but he understands. Brad signed up for a world champion who happened to be an omega- he didn't sign up for a pack dame.

Neither did Max, but there's nothing he can do about that.

Brad sighs, looking pleadingly at him.

"I can't speak for how the pack runs, Max, but I can tell you what I'm seeing, which is that there's growing pups in the pack, and you're trying to provide for them."

Max wrinkles his nose, glancing down at his own chest. It's definitely gotten bigger.

"How would I even...?"

His trainer shrugs.

"That's between you and the pack. But you need to figure out a way to, um, dispense it. Otherwise you might have actual health problems. For what it's worth, Nate said that it's good for pack bonds and emotional regulation for pups, so."

Great.

Max ignores it. Ignores it when his chest is sore, ignores it when his suit is tight zipping up to his neck, ignores it when he can't fall asleep, shifting uncomfortably.

At the same time, it feels like the pack is out to get him. The pups are constantly at chest height, always wanting scenting and hugs, and Max can't help himself from watching them carefully- it's stupid, they have trainers and strict diet plans, their nutrition is just fine.

He's not even thinking about the older pack members, who are becoming equally as obsessed. A few days ago Lando had spent thirty minutes eating him out on AirMax before propping his chin on Max's hip, sweetly asking if he can suck his tits.

Max had gone bright red and kicked him out of the nest.

Carlos has been more tactile than usual, squeezing at Max's hips or smacking him on the ass, and Charles has been just as bad, blatantly incapable of raising his head to at least pretend he's looking Max in the eyes.

Lewis has been nearby more often than not, especially during press. It hasn't escaped Max's notice that he and Lewis are in the same conferences, the way the pack alpha carefully watches the media. He and Lewis aren't like that- they work well as a team taking care of the pack, but generally Lewis isn't protective of him.

He's not thinking about any of that at the moment, legs wrapped around Daniel's head as he whines, the soft skin of his thighs rubbed raw by stubble.

"Fuck, Danny- please-"

It's a panting gasp. He has his fingers curled tight in the alphas hair, tugging as Daniel twists another finger inside him, mouth wet as he licks sloppily over his clit.

There's a low rumble against him, Daniel's scent heavy and thick in the room, intertwined with the sticky sweet notes of Max's own arousal.

Max doesn't mind. He's enjoyed being able to see Daniel again, and the few days they've been together have been nice. He missed his scent, the way he fits perfectly around and inside of Max, how he knows exactly what Max needs.

He runs his fingers through Daniel's curls, thinking.

"Dan?"

There's a sleepy hum from on top of him.

"What's up, Maxy?"

Max wiggles slightly underneath him, forcing Daniel to blink his eyes open.

"Is it weird? To be a dame, and take care of pups that aren't mine?"

Daniel makes a face, pushing his scent stronger as he eyes Max.

"No? Maybe to you, since you've never had a healthy relationship in your life, but that's perfectly normal everywhere else. It's the entire point of having dames, Max. So that there's always someone who can watch pups, even if their parents aren't around. Jesus, Maxy, it's practically a foundational part of a pack."

Max swats at him, glaring.

"I'm not stupid, Daniel. I know why dames are important, I just. The rookies are older pups? They are almost not even pups anymore. There's only a year between Liam and Yuki."

Daniel is squinting at him. He gets grumpy whenever Max tries to talk to him after sex- prefers to take postcoital naps.

"So?"

Max frowns. Daniel is being dense on purpose.

"So why would I only-"

He pauses. He hasn't talked about the milk thing with Daniel- or with anyone outside of Brad, because it's embarrassing. Even though the papers Brad gave him labeled it as an expected result of the hormone switch when he became a dame, which has made Max wonder if everyone already knows.

If that's the case, he's throwing himself off the roof.

Daniel rumbles, nosing at his jaw.

"Whatever you're stressing about, quit it. The pack loves you. The rookies adore you. You couldn't fuck it up if you tried, Max."

Max instinctively purrs in response, soothed by the low notes from Daniel.

"I know, I just. I do not want them to feel the way I felt."

Daniel's scent takes on a sad tinge as he snuggles closer into Max.

"You could drop out of their lives tomorrow and you still would've done more for them than anyone did for you. I don't think you should worry about that."

Max tucks his head into Daniel's neck, running the bridge of his nose across his scent gland.

"Thank you, Danny."

He's already falling back asleep on top of Max. He'll ask him about the milk thing later, when he's awake again.

He will.

Max never ends up talking to Daniel about it.

He keeps putting it out of his mind, racing and looking at data, working with Yuki to try and make their undrivable car into something that can last an entire race.

He massages at his chest at night, trying to ignore how good it feels, getting rid of the constant heavy ache. It always leaves him damp between his thighs, but he refuses to get his wires crossed any further than he already has- takes cold showers instead.

It works great. It's a good system, he hasn't had any problems, and it's fine.

He’s currently getting baseball lessons from Kansai.

Dressing up is one of her biggest interests- she also loves taking bubble baths after long days.

He’s got a connection to animals- especially dogs. He loves puppies most of all.

He and Reycho moved in with Vanilla and Aniki after the main story, so they’re part of the family.

Not just that, he often invites the others to play video games together and share snacks.

Nyoro

She is arguably the BEST at drawing in the group- all the drawings of blueprints had to start somewhere!

She designs bead jewelry and keychains for her friends to give on their birthdays.

It took a long time for her to forgive her dad, but she did it in giving him a bag keychain she made herself.

Mowchan

He works at food drives so he can spread happiness to those who need it the most.

He makes his own “Secret Sauce”, which is Mayo, ketchup, a bit of soy sauce, a handful of spices, salt, pepper, and a dash of hot sauce.

His parents definitely own a local restaurant.

Chuko

She absolutely HATES bullies. And whenever she sees an innocent person being bullied, she decides to stand up for them.

Her comfort food is definitely anything with cheese. Especially pasta with said ingredient.

She won’t hesitate to jump into action when someone is in danger.

Tattsun

He has an entire collection of comic and manga books at home, mostly ones of Shonen anime.

He has Electro Ranger suits for all of his friends in his closet in case they need to wear them to a convention.

One of his most prized collectibles is a limited edition comic con exclusive Power Rangers Megazord toy.

Kansai

He collects baseball cards. Enough said.

He keeps an entire pack of bubblegum on him for emergencies.

He often invites the others to baseball games at their local park to play together.

Pai

She is an expert in babysitting and always packs extra clothing for everyone when they go on trips.

She loves taking long walks and photographing beautiful animals!

She can write little notes for the ghosts she sees to read.

Aniki

He really wants to take horseback riding lessons with his sister.

He lets his sister stick bows and clips into his hair- and one time even a whole bonnet!

He’s a massive fan of rock music and knows how to play the guitar.

Jennu

She makes her own costumes in her big sis’ honor.

She trades little trinkets with Nyoro as well as designs!

Her favorite musical is Hairspray.

Yuki

Soft pillows and fluffy pajamas are two of her favorite things in the world.

A good book is one of her favorite interests.

She loves tobogganing in the snow, as well as snowball fights! She loves it especially when the gang has them in the park.

then he learns that maik never cared about him at all and he was only a mcguffin in the plan to get the kids he actually cared about to awaken

master learns he was being used by maik and feeling betrayed joins the go getters club

did maik tell him he was supposed to sacrifice the kids? how many people had they sacrificed before? or was it all just an act bc maik told him he had to get them scared

where was nyoros dad how did reycho become self aware

idc that hes a robot thats like a mannequin you carried around everywhere suddenly getting up and talking

i want more platforming puzzles where its not just one kids ability at a time

i dont feel like yuki earned an emotional attachment all i knew about her was she liked the theater knew a lot about mushrooms and cooked bad. and sometimes said excessively cute things

idk there was good there but they clearly didnt get to tell the story they wanted the WAY that they wanted to

SKL started rotating in my head again over a unrelated 2000s song that just reminded me of Kaido and Magami-not even joking lol-but upon reflecting on its plot I sometimes wonder if it would’ve been better off if like- they didn’t make new characters and just recycled the base cast just characterization them in a different way ala how Getter does it.

Cause I’ve thought about while I’m generally more biased I think Shin vs Neo feels significantly less flawed compared to SKL despite its episode length for not only having the advantage of “it has a lighter plot where as SKL desperately felt like it needed a longer run time” but because it used all the existing characters before and the characterization isn’t even TOO off, they’re all just kinda water downed versions of themselves. (Neo!Ryoma is a really interesting case out of the whole cast though in terms of characterization compared to his go manga self but I’ll save that for another post)

SKL has the issue of it’s introducing NEW characters we never seen to mazinger but we don’t have a justifiable runtime to get to know most of them, Yuki I feel is the only character who is decently developed due to the focus put on her which is why I consider her the MC over the boys even if there can be more fleshed out about her. Kaido and Magami do have a dynamic that bounces off of each other which is why I like them despite not being super deep but its still not fully developed, kinda worst by the fact we don’t get to know ANYTHING about Kaido and Magami’s origins aren’t entirely explain either- and honestly only feel there for the plot rather than expanding his character even if it HAS the potential to expand upon who he is.

But then I thought how this OVA could’ve been if it was like: Kaido=Koji, Magami=Tetsuya, Yuki=Sayaka. (Jun could be Scarlet ig and the villains could be whoever as followed from base show but they could also still get away with the new villains with this tbh) You could keep everything the same, even to the point of having this be a canon where Koji and Tetsuya aren’t related-IIRC they aren’t even related in the Mazinkasier OVA and Tetsuya explicitly calls him Kabuto which would be weird to call your brother/nephew, which would be funny if in this hypothetical SKL scenario they are more referred to as their last names then first-since even if the SKL trio more obviously took more inspo from the devilman trio they match the archetypes these three from OG mazinger canon had.

I’m sure SKL would still be consider a “not really mazinger” series if all other elements were kept the same given Armageddon still is regarded as “not really getter” in terms of source material accuracy but I do wonder if it’s three episode formate could’ve worked better if it it as another au. That said I still like the SKL boys so I’m not saying this should’ve been it over “GIVING IT 13 PROPER EPISODES FFS” and I do wish they could just be reused in a different mazinger iteration whenever we get one-grendizer getting something so hey, there’s hope and it’s slightly more likely than a new getter show-since it be cool if Mazinkaiser had a pilot over just being Koji again but alas my boys are stuck in the void with the Shin Jeeg cast to definitely never to be seen again.

World's End Clubs spoilers;

So we have this group of 11 kids!!!

Reycho, Kansai, Pochi, Mowchan, Vanilla, Tattsun, Aniki, Pai, Nyoro, Chuko, Jennu

(And Yuki, but she's added on later!!)

So they're going on some field trip to Tokyo (I think??) And then there's suddenly a meteor and they blackout, waking up in an underwater theme park where they're forced to play a killing game (fun fact; made by the creators of Danganronpa...) BUT the killing game is a lie, the mastermind behind it found out later!!

You lead Reycho to victory, Pochi being the only one you can really trust, he trusts you too, but gets eliminated soon

So you win a key to open any lock, and you can "choose" to open the door to the outside world or the bot that "kills" the rest of your friends. (Choose is in quotations because... vanilla stops you from opening the damn door.)

Reycho has some super throwing power too.

So they get out in Fujisaki (I think?? Is that even how you spell it? Either way -- FAR away from where they're supposed to be) and find out they're in a post-apocalypse world. Everything's overgrown, the powers out, and there's literally mutated plants that try to eat them... which is cray zee. (Hence the name World's End Club!)

So they all end up having powers, slowly revealed throughout the game.

We find Yuki, she falls out of the sky with amnesia, during a snowstorm. (Also not too important but Pochi gets kidnapped by a fucking Yeti. That apparently wanted to make him it's wife? Idk it's funny to me)

We learn about X-Types, people that can talk to Otherworlders (aka us, the players!!) Reycho protects the Go-Getters (aka all 12 of them) and it turns out he's a robot, with Pochi controlling him.

So they kick Pochi out, because their leader was a robot being controlled by him?? That makes sense.(/s)

They eventually realize that Pochi was literally the one saving them this whole time, but are attacked by MAIK's robots!!

(MAIK is a robot Nyoro's dad built, there's a literal cult for MAIK... MAIK even refers to MAIK as a god?? <- I don't think MAIK has pronouns canonically. Slay for the el gee bee tee's)

MAIK is literally pronounced Mike. It's crazy

So you'll never guess... Pochi is also a robot!! Sent by MAIK to spy on the Go-Getters!! But he gains emotions and with the magic of friendship (🐎) he decides to go against MAIK and protect them!!

So they also find out Pai can like. See ghosts and shit and that Vanilla is a ghost (it's her power, she's not actually dead) and that literally everyone blames themselves for her death?? Which she saved them by doing it... A truck was gonna hit them so she died so it didn't.

Another side note, Kansai's hero is Jennu's dead sister's husband or something?? Which is so crazy

So they find out Vanilla is in HEAVEN - an organization or something? MAIK's mainframe is also there so they go there to save Vanilla or whatever... So you'll never guess what happens next; Yuki is apart of MAIK.

And that cult I mentioned earlier? The leader, Master (WHO NAMES THEIR KID THIS.), is here to kill them, with a semi-repaired Reycho who now wants to kill them!! It doesn't work because the magic of friendship makes him jump into MAIK's shield, killing him again and disabling it.

So there's an epic boss battle because they still want Yuki to be alive so using Vanilla's coding skills or whatever they program it so only Yuki is alive.

Reycho isn't dead. He's alive and walks into the room after they go "all of us are back together!!" "No... we're missing one..." "Reycho..." and he can speak now!! Insane!!

Also Chuko and Kansai are like?? Enemies to lovers or something??

Ahhhh THIS SHOW. It's so darling.

Zheng Ze Shou is so rational, logical, head-driven, he's encased his heart in lead, ensuring that he doesn't fall for anyone, that he'll stay single, never fall in love, never have a long term partner... Whereas Fu Li Gong is a little romantic deep down. He's emotional, compassionate, heart-driven. He's aware that he's in love with his best friend but contained that love to maintain the status quo for so long. They have such interesting dynamics...polar opposites that compliment and feed off each other...and then they settle their differences with a coin toss. 😂

And then we have Jian - cautious, uncertain, apologetic, timid, conservative - and Yuki - a go-getter, direct, no-nonsense, sensual, confident...another polar opposite couple. I do feel like I'm missing a bit from these two, though - It's clear Jian is shy and nervous about Yuki's advances...and yet Yuki is still staying the night...so how is that working between them? Are they having a conversation about it or is Yuki just...not leaving? Is Yuki like a cat that's just decided that the laundromat is his territory now and Jian is the naïve homeowner who humours Yuki and allows him to roam free in his place because he's too (secretly) enamoured with him or too polite to shoo him away? Actually, now I've written that, it's EXACTLY what's going on.

BUT FU LI GONG WAS SO BRAVE. My brave brave sweet bean. And Zheng Ze Shou, the forever-bachelor, was so adorably overwhelmed. Each 'brother' was a punch in the gut to Fu Li Gong. But they do love each other. The desire between them is so palpable. It's just that Ze Shou naively doesn't realise it. He's had Fu Li Gong as a best friend for so long that any change to that will inevitable mean he will lose that friendship. Yes, he might gain something so much more and exciting and fulfilling...but it comes at a cost...and if the relationship doesn't work out (because the evidence surrounding him as a divorce lawyer, and with his mum leaving his dad, says that it won't) then he loses Fu Li Gong completely. Oh the turmoil!

And Fu Li Gong not being able to answer Ze Shou's "why do you like me?"... Paaaaaaaaain.gif

Haha hehe funny edited image, but also quick mini rant that's bothered me ever since I first played through the game

After Reycho’s destroyed, he's almost never brought up again by the rest of the Go-Getters (I'm pretty sure he's only mentioned about 3 times) until he comes back in the HEAVEN facility. All of them seem to move on and get over it as soon as they bury him.

Like, I completely get that he's a robot and most of the Go-Getters had the mentality that he was never alive to begin with during the time when they thought he was actually dead, but c'mon now, you guys were good friends with him for 6 months before the trip, and relied on him for almost the entire trip, I feel like that should have triggered more grief.

They probably did grieve for him during the few days between them travelling from Mount Fuji to Tokyo, at least I hope so, but I just always hated how he was immediately brushed to the side until the final stages.

It would've been such a cool moment during the classroom stage, with Pochi having memories of the Go-Getters Club before the trip, and then Reycho showing up for a short time, similar to how Yuki did, because he for sure would have memories of him. Pochi could've apologized to him and talked to him about his guilt before he eventually faded away, and it would've fit so well because he would talk to Reycho about things that were bothering him.

Anyways, mini rant over, had to get that out of my system lol
