<- love and deepspace masterlist
Hey, so guys—I’m gonna write a whole ass theory/not-theory post about love and deepspace. Please give me your own thoughts and excuse my rambling it’s 2 am and I’m supposed to be asleep.
No but I actually need the LI to interact in game, I know (think or read somewhere) that the love and dating parts are separate timelines and in the “main” timeline MC doesn’t romanticise any of them(?). Anyway not my point, my point is that they all canonically exist in the same place and Caleb is probably the one tying everyone together.
I swear I believe it was Caleb that Rafayel talked to in the nest place where he lead MC so she could find the Onychinus. There was also a TikTok someone made (probably as a joke) of why Rafayel’s reaction to MC feeding him an apple threw him off.
Caleb is also Zayne’s childhood friend, but alright I’m gonna take a little spin off and ask;
When Zayne is reborn, does he remember everything immediately? Does he as a child bear memories of his previous lives as an adult? Or does the memories come to him with age?
Because IF the case is that Zayne already as a child knows of his past with MC and still has the powers of seeing the future, did he perhaps purposefully become friends with Caleb and MC?
Alright back to the main plot point of my post.
I dunno much about Xavier because I don’t have his full 5-star myth yet, but I do know he’s travelling through space and time (?) and that dude knows some shit. He’s most likely also being extra overprotective because of Caleb, like he’s maybe met an alternative version of him in the past?
Oh, but then there’s Sylus.
I’m just saying, Zayne, Rafayel and Xavier all helped MC find the Onychinus and if they truly thought she would be in life threatening danger they probably would’ve stopped her.
I don’t know how!!! But I’m just yapping so stay with me, ok? They all wanted her to find Sylus, because Sylus is the only one strong enough to protect her.
They probably know about the aether cores, that MC can use the dragon to their advantage. However they didn’t realise that MC and Sylus actually share half of each soul, that they are two kindred spirits.
Oh-ho! But Caleb knows, and Caleb haaaates it. Because he, the one who imprisoned Sylus to begin with, wants nothing more than to see the dragon back into the abyss. Because Caleb, the whole reason he’s in MC’s life is to get to Sylus.
Knowing she’s the key to the dragon, he decides to use her, manipulate her into thinking he’s nothing but a kind and loving friend. Sadly, Caleb didn’t anticipate that he too would be smitten by MC.
So everything just turns complicated now, because in the “main timeline” where MC doesn’t romanticise any of the LI, they’re all very much in love with her.
Gods and when they finally all meet… I’m envisioning like the Deepspace throwing every universe together, causing the past, future and present to mash up and fuck the whole reality… and something something Ever.

Happy Friday! How about "kiss my hand. make me feel holy." from the religious imagery prompts for Solas x Lavellan?
Title: A Moonrise like Daylight Pairing: Solas x Fen'aslan "Evuniala" Lavellan Rating: M Word Count: 1,146 Warning: I am gonna Say Veilguard to be safe. @dadrunkwriting for safety reason veilguard I had fun writing this, and ho boy is this going to make me cry on my replay of inquisition thank you for the prompt.
Hope, a rare and fleeting emotion in the waking world and one he dared not have. As the snow drowned Haven, the dragon and his miscalculation flew away, he followed behind the pilgrims of the chantry. The original plan had the Herald not woken, starting to take shape. In the night he would make for Tarasyl'an Te'las and activate the wards and find a way to recover his orb.
Through the veil he felt something, the pulse of the anchor. Looking over his shoulder a small breath as he sought the aid of the spirits. Did she yet live somehow? It was another campsite before he heard the answer. Injured but Alive, his magic reached into the long tired wards of the area and the song of wolves filled the night. A simple request to guide her to them.
By the time they had settled into a valley for the night, he took to the edge of the encampment with a small torch. He needed to be away from the throngs of frightened and mourning masses, he needed to be able to listen for the aid he had called and for the Herald. It was hours before the last wolf howled and she collapsed in sight of the Commander.
As he followed the Commander to a tent he could hear the whispers. She was Andraste reborn, she had died and come back to them. His eyes looked to the nearly frozen elf wearing the Eyes of Fen'harel, how cruelly fitting. The masses whispered a likeness of Andraste, but he saw something far more ancient, Mythal in her youth lacking wisdom but she made up for it in kindness and fairness at first. Raised up by the people she too had saved from cruelty unchecked. Exhaling slowly he pushed the the memories and regrets of millenia ago back into the darkness. His magic enveloped the herald slowly easing what he could, the anchor while still his was now very much apart of her. He only left her side, when all that could be done was for the young keeper to rest.
It was the singing that pulled him from the fade, a scene that was familiar in to many ways. He watched as the Revered Mother lead the faithful, and Fen'aslan stood rigidly, her eyes darting around the crowd, and her armored hands clenching into fists. She was uneasy like a caged wolf. There may yet be hope that this would not fair as poorly as the last time the faithful raised and elf to worship.
"A Word." It was all he said as he walked behind her, he caught the relieved look as she broke away from the group to follow him. The road had grown more perilous now, perhaps with his wisdom if she listened he could keep her from the fate of women and elves alike in this religion. His hand waved and the veilfire answered with brief roar casting the memory of warmth. "The humans have not raised one of our people so high for ages beyond counting. Her faith is hard-won, lethallin, worthy of pride…save one detail." He paused as she drew near watching her as she held her hands to the fire and watched him. "The threat Corypheus wields? The orb he carried? It is ours." The shock he expected, as he prepared for her questions while continuing with the words he had already prepared.
"Even if we defeat Corypheus, they will find away to blame us eventually." The pessimism he had not expected but it came with a lifetime of suspicion at the hands of the humans. Yet he could gift her with one thing that would offer her some safety among the humans. Tarasyl'an Te'las, the trip there with the pilgrims would be arduous but it would give them the room to grow that they desperately needed. As she crested the hill, and felt the wards of his own fortress welcome him. Her opaline eyes lite up in a wonder....like that of Evuniala.
It was after the coronation, when she had become Inquisitor that he brought her to the fade. She had changed his whole world, a knot of regrets that Felassan had tried to reach over the millennia starting to unravel all because she listened and asked questions rather then give orders. Where Mythal had flourished under the burden of command and the duty of a ruler. Fen'aslan struggled, spending hours speaking to the advisors, and those who had formed her inner circle. Instead of Benevolence's radiance and Vengeance's fire he saw the gentle warmth of Hope and the chill of Despair.
A kiss to her hand, filled with a devotion he had not given in ages past to make her holy amongst the first of their people and to him alone. The spirits would whisper how the one who hunts alone had set her above her own people and made her equal to him. But she had done that all on her own, and it was only fitting now that he offer her the comfort of his devotion as Hope should have had it long ago as the rarest of the people.
His eyes met her opaline eyes and for a moment he swore he saw her Evuniala, the Hope so long ago lost. There was a hunger between them as she closed the distance first to steal a kiss. Not a goddess but perhaps something much more sacred and holy. He chased her when she pulled away shy of her own passion. His lips captured hers and his arms pulled her up onto his thigh. He could feel the desperation lighting between them, the spirits of passion taking notice as he worshipped her. Lips bruised and parting with sweet whimpers as he found her neck. His hand rested on her back, as she found her feet, cheeks and the tips of her ears flushed. The music of the elvhen court played in the distance of the fade. "We shouldn’t. It isn’t right. Not even here" he offered watching her eyes widen as she looked around. A dreamer she was but perhaps she had never realized her potential until tonight.
"What do you mean even here?" there was a pause and before he could ask her where she though they were. "This is not real?" His lips formed into a smirk, she was quick and cleaver. Not like a fox though but like a wolf....
"That’s a matter of debate… probably best discussed after you wake up." Vhenan...it had almost slipped out in the cast spell. He let out a breath. No it seemed she was not like Mythal, who she was like stirred a deep seated protectiveness in him. She had his devotion and that he did not regret but it made things harder. He would find a new way to correct his mistakes.

6, 8, and 9 for the DA4 hype?? :)
Hi, Ells!!!! <3 Thanks so much for the ask and also thanks so much for the actual ask meme! Excellent, top-tier work, my friend. ARE WE EXCITED? WE ARE SO EXCITED. ARE WE GOING TO BE IN A LIVING, BREATHING FANDOM AGAIN?! TOGETHER?! IN THE YEAR OF OUR OLD 2024?! It's legit too good to be true, I may die. SO EXCITED.
... anyway, moving on:
I’m answering questions from this Dragon Age: The Veilguard Hype ask meme drafted by the amazing incredible wonderful @ellstersmash! Ask me anything!
6. Do you have your Rook(s) planned out to any degree? If so, would you share some details or ideas you have?
I don't have my main Rook planned out yet, because I know myself far too well; it's far too important a factor in my character development process to really dig into the themes of the overarching story they're going to participate in for me to really be able to plan them out before I know what's what within the story. My main player character usually only forms once I've already played the game through once or twice.
That being said, I know some details about the player character I'm going to be doing my first (or, more likely, second, because I won't be able to resist going Grey Warden in my first...) playthrough with: a thus far unnamed Antivan Crow who is very loosely based on the vibes of Rita Hayworth in Gilda.
Tumblr media
I'm visualizing some hardcore weaponized incompetence and feigned innocence... with just a liiiiittle brutal streak of murder and a dash of the macabre running underneath. I think she's going to be AWESOME.
8. What faction are you most excited to learn more about?
I am nothing if not predictable, and ya gal's a complete ho for a Grey Warden, so of course I'm desperate to know what the Wardens have been up to. That's my first priority and my most important concern.
That being said, of the factions we're less familiar with as a whole, I'm really looking forward to hopefully getting more of a deep dive on the Antivan Crows, whom I've always loved, and of the factions I'm even less familiar with, the Mourn Watch seems right up my alley.
So, those three are all really high on my hype list right now, albeit all for slightly different reasons: Grey Wardens for that mad nostalgia and lbr I am a Warden @ heart and have been since ~2010, Antivan Crows because I've always wanted to know more about them and they're so cool, and the Mourn Watch because the vibes are impeccable and they're newer 2 me and thus super exciting!
9. Which romance, if any, do you plan to pursue first?
... Davrin. As said above, I'm nothing if not predictable, and wild horses cannot tear me away from that Warden goodness. Also, like, have you SEEN him??? Hello.
<3 LOVE YOU, ELLS!

i don't post many personal posts anymore and i should actually change that so here is a big ol post about how my last few months with dragon age have gone
da:o - took me a little time to really crack into it/feel the bug but once it did I was obsessed w/ playing. i really loved the characters and the story, and my grey warden is so so cute. i ended up accidentally having a naming convention between my warden and my hawke, so now everyone gets names that start w/ 'ash'. ashdara is a dalish elf, that's important for later. she romanced alistair!! he's such a goofy and so sweet and hrhghrg chews on him like a dog toy (affectionate). hilariously one of my favorite characters wasn't even the mains it was a dlc character?? i love shale. she's so cute and sassy and i LOVE HER!!!! i think that there were a lot of interesting choices in this game that i unfortunately know don't really do anything in the later games?? like i had morrigan sleep with alistair before the big battle and, as far as i know, that does not really matter!! it makes me a little sad to see such cool things getting left behind :( i still really liked the story, however, i enjoyed the progressing and how the blight was growing on the map too when you progress the story too!! i think there was a spot that i accidentally locked myself out of though accidentally. i do regret that i did not get to do much of zevran's backstory though, by the time that he was about to ashdara was with alistair and i wasn't sure if it would mess with things oops.
da2 - i went into this one knowing abt fenris, so i was so gung ho abt loving him and unfortunately, ashwin was not the man for fenris!!! ashwin is a blood mage, so already points against him, and he often helped mages and sided with them so needless to say, fenris was not his friend in the end. THAT BEING SAID!! he did romance merrill and she was so cute and darling, love her to bits and pieces. there is a moment where alistair showed up with, what we assume, is the grey warden from the first game and gave ashwin a necklace that's supposed to be from the grey warden basically!! so he gave it to merrill (emmy about died she did not expect that!!!). i ended up falling head over heels for my own character this time around, Ashwin stole my heart, he was a purple hawke so he was funny and silly and a bitch (affectionate), and i love him so bad. i REALLY loved the story of this game a lot, the tension between the mages and the templars and how that evolved over time, the clear schisms between ashwin and his own party members because of it and how they all felt about him in the end. (not to mention the dlc and hearing his dad basically saying he didn't want his kids to be like him...only for ashwin to end up. just. like. him. as a blood mage and everything!!!). i Do Not Like anders, i am one of those people but i can see the appeal for some people and stuff so it isn't like i'd yuck someone's yum, if that makes sense. i really liked the simplicity of the game's maps too, i have a hard time with open world stuff or things with big maps (there's a reason i haven't finished botw...) so this one being so simple was really nice for me. i did literally every side quest except one (it was the potions guy that wanted more ingredients in the 3rd act). i had a lot of fun with this game and honestly i might replay this one some time!!
da:i - still working through this one so far!! ashleene is my dalish inquisitor, love her so bad. her and cullen just started romance together and i feel unwell about it, actually /lh i'm enjoying the story a lot, and playing the dlc in the second game really did bridge a nice gap there. i am struggling a tiiiiny bit with the open map concepts, i was 100% running through the hinterlands when i did not need to, i think i had like 20 something power when i only needed 4. oops.
now all this being said i need to just...get on my knees and weep about that fact that i cannot kiss varric. i know there's reasons but i am devastated by it!! let me kiss him!!!!!! he's so handsome and funny and sweet and im gonna lay on the ground and weep over the fact i cannot smooch!!! ugh.
all in all im really excited abt veilguard too and getting to it!!!!

For the Love Your Fandom Asks 1, 9 and 24!
1. list 3 positive things about your current fandom(s)
- All the OCs! I have heard through the tumblr rumblings that not all fandoms love OCs? The nature of dragon age is such that OCs are baked in and people go wild. YES! MORE OCS. MAKE THE OCS KISS!
- The deep head canons in various, under explored corners of the game. People out there writing entire long fics in Avvar country! People writing dwarf dynasties and long-running Chantry dramas. YES! MORE!
- The size? Is that valid? It's JUST big enough where there is a steady stream of fanfic and fan art and engaged fandom members, but not SO BIG that it's an overwhelming sea of noise and you're drowning in it and can't be like, known in tumblr and discord server communities.
9. a ship that isn't your OTP but that you enjoy
Warden/Alistair which I explained in this post.
24. how has fandom positively impacted your life?
I had been in a fantasy text-based RPG for a long, long time. It grew increasingly toxic over the years and I had finally had it. I quit in early 2021. But I missed the writing. Fast forward to Jan 2022 and I am writing my first Dragon Age fanfic. I had written fanfic before but had forgotten how much fun it can be to just play with the blorbos in your head. It nicely filled in the writing void the game left behind, and it's a lot less toxic! Downright wholesome.
Also I've made new and real friends! Two fandom friends I made in early early 2022 are now coming to my wedding this June irl. YOU SEE? WHOLESOME AF.
Since I was already asked #9 I'll answer #2 as a bonus.
2. a headcanon you weren't sure about at first but have come to like!
"Solas was a spirit that Mythal bound to an elven body" as in, he was never born in the typical sense. At first I was like "pfft" but then I was like "oh ho ho ho? Cole saying cryptic shit? Yes? Hello?" and now it is in a WIP as a FACT for me. I think it's decently supported but as with all cryptic shit Cole says, you never know 100%. Who cares. I like it. insert marge-simpson-I-think-it's-neat meme.

Tagged by @clotpolesonly, thank you, Jess!
I went ahead and linked all of the songs and you should totally give them a listen, because they are all wonderful and amazing and I love them (and thus am totally unbiased).
T - Through the Dark (One Direction) Do yourself a favour and listen to this song it is so beautiful and I love it so much. H - Highland (Blackmore's Night) Renaissance Folk about wanting to go back to the Highlands? Sign me upppp E - Everything louder than everything else (Meatloaf) A wasted youth is better by far than a wise and productive old age - need I say more? D - Dreamer (Supertramp) Supertramp is epic and wonderful and has such prominent piano lines and I love it A - And Then There Was Silence (Blind Guardian) An almost 15 minute epic retelling the Iliad - need I say more? I especially love the Cassandra reference. U - Underdog (Imagine Dragons) I once listened to Bleeding Out for an entire day, but there is no B in my username and I do really like underdog, too, so we'll go with that! G - Give me love (Ed Sheeran) I'm not sure if it still counts as my very favourite Ed Sheeran song, but it certainly was my first favourite Ed song, and I still love it a whole lot. H - Heaven on their minds (Jesus Christ Superstar) If someone wants to pay me for putting on a one woman show of JCS - I'm ready! T - Time Stands Still (At The Iron Hill) (Blind Guardian) An operatic/symphonic metal concept album about the Silmarillion is everything I ever wanted in my life. E - End of all hope (Nightwish) If you need to get your blood pumping, I know nothing better than this song! R - Ride the Wild Wind (Queen) I had to get some Queen in here - and I couldn't make '39 fit my name so we'll go with this one O - On My Way Home (Enya) Really, anything by Enya goes! Her winter/Christmas album (And Winter Came) is an absolute staple in my winter rotation! F - From the North (Runrig) I'm hard pressed to pick any favourite Runrig song (because they are all favourites), but this one is definitely up there. K - Kopf hoch, tanzen (Herbert Grönemeyer) You are missing out, if you don't understand German, but there are a couple of English versions of his songs that he produced once upon a time! One of Germany's best beloved acts and well deserved as well in my opinion! I - If I Could Fly (One Direction) It makes me cry okay - another really beautiful one N - Nur für Dich (Wise Guys) Okay, this one is German and with this band half the fun are the lyrics (the other half are the harmonies because acapella!!), but if you understand at least a little German, I highly recommend the Wise Guys! G - Generation (Simple Plan) HEY HO, LET'S GO! S - Show me (My Fair Lady) One of my absolute favourite musicals ever!!
I feel as though I should say that I'm not as old as some of these choices make me appear
I'm always ready to yell about any of these songs/artist!!! And if you end up listening to anything because of this and liking it, pleeeease let me know!
Tagging Clara, @loverofcake and the last ten people who reblogged something from me - no pressure though!
@ihavelikenolife, @sharlaidfrey, @brap-brap-lightning-mcqueen, @writinglines, @fruitingbodyworship, @fandoms-and-i, @c00kieknight, @221b-anarion, @fangirlofrandomness, @letterschming and of course everyone else who'd like to do this!

SteveTony Weekly - Best Fic of 2022
Tumblr media
It’s the last day of 2022! We made it, friends, and so it’s time for my annual list of my favorite reads from the year. All of these are amazing, and I spent hours on this list because I kept stopping to reread favorite bits. Check ‘em out. And feel free to send me your favorite reads of 2022!
~*~
Think of This as Solving Problems (That Should Never Have Occurred) by Sineala
No one knows Tony is Iron Man. Then Tony gets amnesia, and literally no one knows Tony is Iron Man.
Sine is always a real treat to read, and I had somehow managed to miss reading this in the past, so I got to enjoy it this year and it was just--lovely. No one does identity porn the way Sine does.
Some Kind of Personal War by sara_holmes
And Tony realizes that working out who the Winter Soldier used to be and who he is now are two entirely different things.
The rest of this series is also amazing, but the first part is Bucky/Nat--it’s only part two and three that introduces Stevetony. The entire series is well worth reading, though.
Teenage Dream by Etharei
"That," says Tony, tone unmistakably smug despite his split lip, "is Captain America. Who, by the way, happens to be my godfather."
I am a sucker for age difference, and also for Steve being utterly protective and besotted, and I loved this verse so much I think I read it twice in December alone.
Magnetic North by msermesth
Tony joins Steve on his post-Secret Empire road-trip-slash-pity-party.
Turns out the road home is paved with a lot of arguments and sex.
I dug into comics this year, but I still haven’t gotten to Secret Empire, but I really enjoyed this--I had enough working knowledge of the story that it enhanced my reading, but I didn’t feel like it was necessary to enjoy the slow progression Steve and Tony had to each other.
Like a Comet Streaming On by Sineala
Tony escapes Afghanistan with a functioning Iron Man suit and a perfectly normal heart. He even manages to bring Ho Yinsen home safely at his side. But he may as well have lost everything... because his wolfbrother is dead. Six months later, the Avengers find Captain America, frozen in ice, miraculously alive. Everything and everyone Steve has ever known is gone -- except his wolfsister, the recipient of the lupine version of the super-soldier serum, who was frozen in his arms. Tony has everything but his wolf. Steve has only his wolf. This is how their lives fit together.
I love the worldbuilding in this, and the grief that Tony goes through, the slow bonding between Tony and Steve (and Libby) is just--perfection.
Mr. July by jibrailis
Tony is the only one who can defend Steve's virtue. Tony hates his life.
It’s just fun. That’s all it is. Just pure fun.
One-Man Army by Captain_Panda
Takes place immediately after the Chitauri attack in Avengers 1.
Steve is running himself into the ground. Tony notices.
Then Steve gets knocked down hard. And Tony intervenes.
This is absurdly long, and had been unfinished for a while--when it was finished earlier this year, I put it on my list to read and it was even better than I expected--despite the length, it’s exquisitely plotted and perfectly written, and held my attention throughout, something that’s rare during a fic that long. It’s well worth the read.
For the Love of a Dragon by Captain_Panda
When Steve went down with the Valkyrie, he thought his days with dragons were over.
Then he meets Tony Stark, who inherited Howard Stark's dragon.
As the kids say: "It's complicated."
This entire series is perfect--the world building of dragons in a modern, canon compliant world is just--flawless. I adored the dragons, I adored how different they were and how well they interacted with the people they chose made complete sense and just--I adored it.
Dangerous Kitchen Tools by ladyshadowdrake
Engineering prodigy, billionaire, and heir to the Stark Industries empire, Tony Stark turned the business world on its head by opening a restuarant and burying himself in the kitchen. Years later, he covers an informal evening cooking class for his friend and fellow molecular gastronomist, Bruce Banner, where he meets famously camera-shy comic artist Steve Rogers.
I really love chef AU’s and this was just so lovely, soft and sweet and perfect. I loved it.
all in by spqr
What matters is that Steve only hates him 99% of the time now, and the other 1% of the time they laugh together and fight side by side and they’re friends.
Tony’s used to having to wring little bits of love out of people.
He can do it.
I really love SPQR (which is why they’re on this list twice) and this is a flawless little CW AU.
Patriarch by spqr
Steve ducks into the hall and comes back with a warm, freshly-laundered towel, which feels so good when he wraps it around Tony’s shoulders that he almost lets out a moan. “There we go,” Steve says. “Don’t want you to catch cold.”
“Thanks, daddy,” Tony quips, because he’s an idiot.
Except Steve’s close enough, his hands wrapped around Tony’s biceps through the towel, that Tony can feel his full-body shudder.
Here we have my most read fic of the year. I think I read this once or twice a month since it was published in March. It’s all my favorite things--mafia, age gap, daddy kink, dangerously possessive Steve. It’s amazing and perfect and I’m gonna go read it again.
angels who sin by meidui
Summer air is thick and sweet, like Tony's voice pouring honey into Steve's throat, telling Steve more than he needs to know. He's here with his parents for the summer, he just finished his first year at college, he doesn't believe in God but his parents make him come to church.
"They said you can help me find faith," Tony says, as mischievous as he is innocent, and Steve is as good as gone.
Priest Steve, Twink Tony and meidui’s gorgeous prose? That’s it, that’s everything.
seven years in heaven by meidui
Tony gave Steve everything in the divorce. Their beautiful Brooklyn brownstone and everything in it, Tony's beloved Audi, their private garden upstate. Tony even offered him the lakehouse, but Steve had looked up at him with red eyes and begged softly for him to stop.
Tony gave Steve everything, every last piece of himself. He didn't take much with him when he flew out to his mansion in Malibu, but he took every last piece of Steve, too.
This ached and hurt me in the best ways and then it put me back together.
you great unfinished symphony (you sent for me) by ketchupcrisp
The last thing Steve Rogers ever expected to see on a Wednesday afternoon was his (their) dead submissive tumbling out of a portal and practically into Phil’s lap, very much alive and frantic about Soul Stones and timelines and some other version of the team.
This is technically poly, but the heavy focus is on Stevetony, and the world-building is just…very very well done. Excellently done.
Forty-Seven Flat by geekymoviemom
Steve Rogers was on the top of the world. He was one of the top students in his class, a world-class athlete, and had a man who loved him. Winning an Olympic Gold Medal seemed like the perfect addition to his picture-perfect life.
But only four years later, Steve’s entire world has come crashing down around him, leaving defending his Olympic title the only thing lying between him and utter ruin.
And then, the unthinkable happens.
I’m a huge fan of superfamily, and sports AU, and this one is so well done--it’s a little unrealistic but fun and made me cry so, winner winner.
Without Irony by tsukinofaerii
Open file TS_762-b.ims... Sometimes, when a drive is completely broken, the only thing to do is wipe it clean and start over. When he wakes up, Tony has no idea who he is, or what he did to end up where he is. Depending on who he talks to, he was a villain or a hero, a genius or a degenerate. What he is now is still up for debate, but it doesn't look like he's going to have much time to figure it out. With a computer in his head screwing up and a country falling to pieces, options are getting limited. Steve The world needs Iron Man a lot more than it needs Tony Stark.
I’m a huge fan of fic that covers Tony’s mind wipe and this one did such a great job of that. And then it follows up with part two (below). I looove this little series so much.
Per Expectations by tsukinofaerii
After the events of Without Irony, Tony wakes up with a freshly rebooted memory and nearly all of his memories from before the deletion and none after. Nearly all isn't nearly enough, and what's missing just might be the most important thing he's ever forgotten. Tony's not sure he wants to remember, but if he doesn't it's going to be the death of him.
Tabula Rasa by Sineala
Sometimes superheroes save the world. And sometimes they're too late.
Captain America's longtime villain Superia had a plan for revenge. She stopped the Avengers from ever finding Steve in the ice, tore the Avengers apart, and turned the world into her own personal authoritarian dystopia. A team made up of Captains America from across the multiverse came to set things right: they united all the remaining superheroes, took down Superia, and made sure the world would find Steve again.
Tony spent Superia's hellish reign as her prisoner, a suicidally-depressed disembodied brain trapped in a jar for years on end, begging the Avengers to kill him and put him out of his misery. The Captain America Corps instead gives him his freedom, a brand-new body, and even the Avengers -- including his very own Captain America. But Tony's not entirely sure he wants to be here. He's walking wounded, and he thinks some wounds are too deep to heal. He thinks there's no chance the Avengers will ever be what they could have been. He thinks there's no way Steve will ever be the friend and partner he could have been on so many other worlds.
Luckily for Tony, Steve happens to disagree with that.
I really loved this. It was sad, and it hurt to read because of how Tony was depicted, but it was just--perfectly done.
The Last Love Song of Anthony E. Stark by jibrailis
After contracting an Asgardian virus, Tony starts forgetting things. And people. And Steve.
This is a fandom classic, and I finally got around to reading it and I was absurdly pleased with it--like it was so much better than I even hoped it’d be.
Relativistic Heat Conduction by BlossomsintheMist
Age of Ultron-based, but not entirely canon compliant. Written for the 2013 Cap-Iron Man Reverse Big Bang. Ultron has attacked, obliterating most of the world's superheroes and resistance in a matter of hours. The remaining heroes band together and share what strength they have to get through it, to survive, and defeat Ultron once and for all. Steve Rogers grieves in the wake of the disaster and the heroes' defeat, and no one knows if he will be able to provide the leadership they need--but Tony Stark isn't about to let him slip away that easily.
This is extremely sad. It was a dark sad read that I loved so much. I especially loved the end--it shouldn’t have been possible to pull off a happy ending, but somehow, it worked, and it was sooooo good.

Tagged!
I've been tagged in a couple of 'getting to know you' type games, lately, so I thought I'd just stitch them together and get it all answered in one fell swoop. I hope you don't mind. Thanks for the tag, @inkspellangel!
I thought Billy Summers was conceptually pretty interesting, myself, though I haven't picked it up to read. I'm actually in a similar situation right now, trying to get through The Black Farm. I think the trick is to try to sneak in a chapter every day, or if that's too much, just five pages. That's what helps me, anyway.
Thanks for the tag, @ceph-the-ghost-writer!
Do you ever post pics of Mimi? I love the story of how you came by her. Cats do seem to have a marvellous way of just strolling directly into our lives, whether we planned for them to be there or not. Funnily enough, I also have a martial arts background, but haven't practiced in some time. I miss it very much. Also, I liked how you commented a bit in your replies to the person who tagged you that I decided to do the same. What a thoughtful thing to do!
Tumblr media
There are quite a few questions answered here, and I can prattle on. therefore, a cut. I don't often tag in games like this one, but if you read this, and want in on the action, absolutely feel free to do it, and tag me.
Are you named after anyone?
I'm not.
When was the last time you cried?
I don't cry often. I'm not sure that I remember. No tear ducts when you're a skeleton, you know.
Do you have kids?
I can barely afford to have a cat. So no, no kids.
Do you use sarcasm a lot?
I can be blisteringly sarcastic, though these days I try to use that power for good, for goofs, and for fiction.
What’s the first thing you notice about people?
I tend to pick up small details. Is there a graphic on their shirt? Are they wearing pins? What kind of earrings have they put in? I have a tendency to try to observe features that will tell me about a person's interests, their sense of humor, something we might have in common, things like that.
What’s your eye color?
I have dark eyes.
Scary movies or happy endings?
I don't see a need to separate these things. Or to choose one over the other, as I like them both, and sometimes a scary movie can still end happily.
Any special talents?
I'm probably the worst person to assess that about myself. It's difficult for me to trust that I am good at anything at all. I have a good memory for books.
Where were you born?
I often tell people that I was hatched out of a wall. My mother worked very hard to get me out. This is how I reinvent my origin without denying her the credit that she's due. But where was the wall? Some secluded alleyway where it is always dark, and always raining, and the street glistens with distorted neon light. Or perhaps it wasn't a wall, at all, but an old tall tree. No, wait, it was a jagged boulder by the sea.
What are your hobbies?
I like to write, of course, and to read. I like to handbind little books when I have the space and the energy. I enjoy movies, and all kinds of television. Currently, I'm using a potholder loom to make a blanket. I have also been known to play video games, though I don't often have time. Right now I'm playing Pokémon SoulSilver My starter is a Cyndaquil that I've given an Everstone, so that he will be adorable forever. His name is Gloucester.
Have you any pets?
I have a beautiful cat with evil in her heart. I call her Wynne Genki Danger. Wynne, after the character from Dragon Age (a grumpy old woman who can't mind her business), Genki after Professor Genki from Saints Row (a mass murderer with a very large cat head who calls death a "reality climax"), and Danger because I have known her both to calculate risks, and to be terrible at math.
What sports do you play/have played?
I played soccer as a child (mostly on defense, but I was also a midfielder). I also trained for quite some while in Yoshinkan-style Aikido.
How tall are you?
As tall as my aura.
Favorite subject in school?
I hated school, to be perfectly honest. I love to learn, but not like that.
Dream job?
I'd love to be able to write full time with my husband. I also think it would be wonderful to be a librarian. I'm a bookseller now, and I like that very much, but I feel like it would be more fulfilling to lend books out, rather than sell them. I like helping other people learn as much as I like learning myself, and I can't think of a much better place to do that. Sometimes I fantasize about working in a personal library/archive that's curated around queer and marginalized voices, our stories, and our history.
Three Ships?
I am being so very brave by not making a joke about boats right now. There's also a brand of skin products that's called Three Ships. Currently I have brainrot about Park Jin/Kim Yeon from Alchemy of Souls, Warwick/York from Requiem of the Rose King or, you know, from history, and Geto/Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen. Bonus mention for Taishakuten/Asura from Onmyoji.
First Ever Ship?
Myself/Dinobot. I kid you not. Beast Wars (or Beasties, depending on your location) was very formative for me.
Last song you listened to?
You're Dead by Norma Tanega
Last movie you watched?
I don't remember for sure, I watch movies somewhat inattentively. I've lately been letting Tubi autoplay, as well, which doesn't help. I think that it might have been Sphere (1998).
Currently reading?
I have a bit of a list, which is not unusual for me. I get on a book-rotation if left unattended, because everything is so interesting all the time. Right now I'm reading: The Black Farm by Elias Witherow, Little Heaven by Nick Cutter, The Plantagenets by Dan Jones, Meat by Joseph D'Lacey, and in the middle of all that, I finished A Head Full of Ghosts by Paul Tremblay. I'm also getting ready to start Thirteen Storeys by Jonathan Sims, but I'd like to finish The Black Farm and Return to the Black Farm before I do, as I've borrowed those. I was also given an ARC to read of The Story of Us by Catherine Hernandez.
Currently watching?
I just finished Junji Ito's Maniac, and was pleased to discover another collection on Crunchyroll. I've been watching an episode every night before bed. I'm also watching Requiem of the Rose King and am about to start The Exorcist (2016).
Currently consuming?
Nothing at all. Though I likely should.
Currently craving?
Attention, apparently? This was quite long.

I am heartbroken over a children’s animated series and that’s okay.
(Fandom story under the break because it was healing to get down in words)
In April of 1997, I turned ten years old. One day that fall, at 3:35pm, I got off the school bus like normal, grabbed a snack, and wandered into my parents room and turned on the television to look for some entertainment. On the CW, there was a cartoon I’d never seen before. Right before the commercial break, there was some sort of monster elemental battle within a pool, with an electric mouse caught in a machine.
I was watching the last half of “The Water Flowers of Cerulean City” and I was enchanted. I didn’t know exactly why Misty was so mad at Ash yet, but I found all the character interactions so interesting, especially with how much love the humans would show their Pokémon companions.
For the next 25 years, I kept up. I sobbed in a theater during “Mewtwo Strikes Back”. I was back for “Pokemon 2000” which had young me hook line and sinker invested in Ash’s story, whatever that was shaping up to be.
I quickly entered my tween years, and without knowing what fandom or fanfiction even was, I was moved to make art and write fanfic. While art proved too frustrating for me, I had an absolute time throwing Ash into a volcano or in a deep trench in writing, because though I didn’t know I developed a love for whump at the time, I knew that if canon made him survive a blizzard, I could do whatever I wanted.
Hoenn and Unova were a bit of a blurr, I was finishing high school and sorting through college. But as Kalos came around, I had the free time and energy to enjoy fandom again. Because no matter how many fandoms I found myself a part of over the years, I always found myself coming back because of whatever Ash and Pikachu were doing.
So for the last eight years I’ve been tuning in most every week for the live broadcasts. Kalos was exciting and high stakes. Alola was emotionally fulfilling. Journeys turned up the nostalgia and tugged at my heartstrings.
So I think that’s why the news of Ash and Pikachu no longer continuing with the main series hits me so hard. Ash is my age. I quite literally grew up with him as a constant in my life. As a character he continues to fascinate me. I love the Chosen One stuff. I love the aura stuff. I love his growth into the confident and kind and thoughtful young man from his headstrong and rash and savage self I loved in the original series. I love the steadfast friendship with Pikachu that has only grown deeper. I love his friends and companions (and the ones that flip between friends and enemies) and how they all see him through a different lens. I love how utterly devoted he is to all Pokémon. His pure love for them is a shining light.
I will be forever thankful that the anime is giving him a thoughtful and reverent send off. Scripting his win in not just Alola (a region truly after his own heart in every way), but the win over Leon in Journeys. The single still of the reunion with Butterfree plunged a happy knife through my heart. I cried when Lugia came back to give Ash and Goh a joyride, and Ho-oh shows up, moving off into the rainbow in an identical angle to the very first episode. Mewtwo returned. Lucario is raised from an egg. Gengar, an ode to the Haunter who stayed with Sabrina. Dragonite, the classic dragon of the original 150.
Really the only thing he didn’t get to do was catch that elusive Dunsparse. (Maybe he will in the finale mini series)
And now, a mini series to explore Ash’s ultimate goal. A Pokémon master is not simply a battle champion.
Yes, all the signs were there, but I never wanted to believe the rumors.
So here I am, nine months pregnant, sitting in the living room composing this while my husband watches old music videos and my dog snores behind my head. I really thought for the last several months that I’d be able to share Ash’s journey in real time with my daughter. I’ll eventually get to introduce my firstborn to my first ‘fictional child’, but she’ll grow up with a different set of Pokémon and different protagonists. I’ll watch with her because I want to share that experience with her, but there’s an inevitable hole in my heart right now.
I don’t know if Ash and Pikachu and Team Rocket are getting a complete cutoff, or if there will be any shred of continuity in the forthcoming series. Maybe there’s a blessing in disguise. I can write all the fanfic I want and canon will never ‘disprove’ it (not that that’s ever stopped me before).
Either way, I am going to miss them fiercely.
Thank you for being my main character, Ash. I’m so proud of you.

Sleep Tight, My Dears (twst one-shot fanfiction)
Summary: The long centuries of conflicts had etched hundreds upon hundreds of bloodshed in his eyes, yet never once had Lilia trembled this much.
Warning: major character death
Genre(s): Tragedy, family
Word count: 1120
Tumblr media
Why?
What went wrong? How did it go wrong? Why... this was not supposed to happen.
The long centuries of conflicts had etched hundreds upon hundreds of bloodshed in his eyes, yet never once had Lilia trembled this much.
There laid a dragon, blood oozing out beneath an enchanted sword that pierced through its skin and impaled its heart.
And squashed under its talons was a young knight whose aurora coloured eyes were still misty with tears.
With one last deafening screech, the dragon exhausted all its power. A burst of green flames enveloped its gargantuan body, leaving behind ashes in the form of the once elegant and dignified Prince of Thorns himself.
This was not supposed to happen— Then what was? Lilia inwardly jeered. Did he really expect a battle of destiny to leave them unscathed? Did he truly believe he could rewrite this twisted tale into a happily-ever-after?
Maybe he did, because he tried, and failed royally. Expected.
But now he wished he had tried harder. Now he wished he had been wiser. For he had never felt so... so helpless, as Malleus and Silver, his children, sprawled out in front of him, on the verge of death.
His stomach churned when they both looked to him, embers of life still persevering in their eyes, seeking wisdom, guidance, and assurance from him as if that would keep the light of life burning.
He had none to give.
They should not be gazing at him with such gentle eyes, for he was what made everything go so wrong. They should be condemning this poor, simple fool. A fool who made a wish that costed too much.
Oh but was it not at times like these that he must indulge them? Did he not owe at least this much to them? To the wonderful sons that he had always been so immensely proud of?
His eyes stung. His throat was tight. And his heart was this close to leaping into green flames, let it all burn down. But he smiled. Grinned maybe.
For them, he told himself.
“Fa... ther...” Silver coughed out, trying to sit up, but he couldn’t feel his torso at all. Shakily, he extended a hand instead.
“F... fa... ther...”
“Right here,” Lilia enfolded Silver’s hand in his smaller ones, kneeling down. He coated his words with layers of poise, to the best of his ability at least.
“It ap..pears... I have... failed you...” the young knight wheezed, a mess of guilt, sorrow and barely holding on. “Plea..se forgive...”
“You’ve done well, my boy. Your gallant stance wouldn’t have been inferior to any esteemed warriors of the past.” He placed Silver’s head on his lap — when was the last time his son slept on his lap?
“Lilia...”
He looked up at Malleus approaching, hunched over in pain, each step an ugly stagger, dripping with blood, dripping with fear.
“Lilia, answer me...”
Lips quivering, breaths rapid, a visage of fright smeared all over the Thorn Prince’s usual indifference.
“Did I... did I do this...?”
His emerald eyes darted around the seared surroundings, then returned to his retainers. His family. Silver.
“...I did this?”
Silver denied without a second to waste, “Malle...us-sama... no! It was... overblot... It is... I who must... apologi—”
“Lilia...! Tell me,” Malleus seemingly could not hear it, and urged Lilia to answer instead, “Please. Am I...”
When was the last time he allowed himself to put on such a graceless display?
“Am I a monster…?”
Lilia recalled, Malleus had asked this very same question the last time he’d been this frightened. So small had he been, unable to control the fire in his small body, nor the fire in his young heart.
“Come closer,” Lilia whispered gently, fatherly, gesturing for Malleus to lean on his shoulder.
“That’s right, scooch in,” he rested a hand on the side of Malleus’s head, the other caressing Silver’s forehead. A promising smile still plastered over his features.
They sought assurance, so assurance he shall offer.
“You are not a failure. And you are not a monster.”
They sought guidance, so guidance he shall offer.
“Loathe not yourselves. You owe this cursed world nothing.”
They sought wisdom, and so the truth he shall impart.
“Loathe me instead,” he hissed, his words envenomed with detest, “I’m to blame.”
There was a lump in his throat, which he was trying to ignore. Now, of all times, he could not afford to show even a fleck of doubt.
Otherwise he might be convinced to forgive himself.
“I’m to blame for never truly understanding you, Malleus. Had I known to do more, say more than ‘Cease your sulking’, perhaps all this could have been prevented. Loathe me, for not fulfilling my role as your guardian, and your confidant.
“And I’m to blame for thrusting this fate onto you when you were but a toddler, Silver. Had I given you a choice, a different path, perhaps you could’ve been enveloped in flowers and light instead of thorns and blood. Loathe me, for being too weak to do it myself.”
Yes, blame him for this massive miscalculation. For forgetting that love blossoms in peace, making conflicts exponentially more heartbreaking than when there had only been hostility.
And yes, before today, he’d thought his aged heart could never be more broken.
But that was fine. May all the ache be his. So that the youths could sleep forever in peace and tranquillity. Free from cruel fate, free from needless hatred, free from any more conflicts.
He even deliberately left out the apology, so that they wouldn’t be obligated to forgive him
.
.
.
Damn the Great Seven for bestowing upon him these wonderful children.
“Lilia... Not even... when hell freezes over... shall I loathe you.”
“Fa...ther... Being your... son... has been an... ho..nour...”
With their hands over his — dedicating their final glimmers of warmth to him, they both asserted,
“Thank you.”
And then their fingers slipped. Fell. And Lilia didn’t bother to cling onto them.
Somewhere behind him, he could hear gasps and cries, and a particularly booming voice now reduced to something close to a whimper, “Young Lord! Silver...!”
Still it was too loud.
Lilia breathed — so soft, so weak, “Hush, Sebek; hush, all of you. We wouldn’t want to disturb their slumber, now would we?”
He was thankful there were no further disturbances.
“Sleep tight, my dears.”
Still smiling. Still poised. Still fatherly. Still strong.
Until he could no longer sense a single bit of warmth. He let go of them, digging his nails into his face,
and screamed.

Chapter 2-Project “Ma” –Eve–; Scene 3
Original Sin Story: Crime, pages 23-37
Apparently the carriage’s speed was enough to outrace their pursuers.
After they arrived at Nemu village, they headed for Eve’s house, which was also the residence of the village chief.
This village had no clinics. As he had some medical knowledge, the village chief also acted as the village doctor.
“Welcome home…And who are these people, Eve?”
Chief Zvezda’s eyes went wide when he saw Eve carrying in two men, one of them injured.
“They were attacked on the plains by the white army. This one’s wounded.”
“It looks that way…Well then, you sit over here. I’ll examine you.”
Seth obeyed the chief’s words, taking a seat in a chair set deeper in the room.
After watching him silently, Eve spoke up to Adam “Are you alright? You didn’t get injured or anything?”
“No, luckily for me. More than that—”
Before Adam could continue his sentence, the village chief cut in as he wrapped a bandage around Seth’s head, “Judging by your outfits…you two are researchers from the royal capital.”
“Ho, you’re quite well-informed.”
“Director Horus of the Royal Research Institute is an old acquaintance of mine. Is he still working hard on research artifacts as usual?”
Adam hesitated for a moment, before telling the chief, “No…He’s passed on. Two years ago. Right now I’m working as director in his place.”
“How…I see, I hadn’t known. I’ve stopped going to the Twelve Royal Capitals lately. And so that would make you—”
“Horus’ adopted son, Adam.”
“I’ve heard your name from him, but I suppose that would make this our first time meeting like this.”
“Yes, and—"
This time Seth butt in. “Erm…I’d appreciate it if you could patch up my wound first.”
“Oops, sorry.”
The chief flusteredly resumed wrapping bandages.
“…Hm?”
He made a puzzled expression, peering at Seth’s face.
“Your left eye looks funny. Is that injured as well?”
“Ah…No, it’s always been like that. I haven’t been able to see out of this eye from birth.”
“A defective left eye…Horus was like that too, as I recall.”
“Ha ha, that’s right. Just a coincidence.”
.
After Seth’s treatment was finished, the researchers bowed their heads to Eve and the village chief and said their thanks.
The chief offered for them to rest at the village for a while.
“The white army wouldn’t go as far as attacking us here,” the chief revealed.
Adam replied, giving him a courteous smile, “Is that because this place is a village of sorcerers?”
“…My my, so the son of Horus is able to glean that much.” The village chief sat down in a nearby chair, a hand on his aching hip. “Let me ask you a question instead, Adam. For what purpose did you all come to this remote place? I’d think that scientists would have little interest in an excavation site, of all things.”
“That’s not so. After all is said and done we’re researchers of the old legacy. It wouldn’t be all that strange for us to want to see where it’s excavated.”
“But up until this point we have never once had a scientist go visit there. Your aim is not the excavation site.”
The village chief’s tone had hardened, but Adam wasn’t intimidated. “Chief Zvezda—No, esteemed sorcerer Raiou Zvezda. It seems you have something in mind already. As it happens, we also have several things we’d like to talk to you about.”
“So I’m the one you’ve been after.”
“Actually, to be more accurate—” Adam turned to Eve. “—We came here to meet her.”
The peaceful atmosphere that had been in the room just moments ago changed in an instant.
Eve could feel a sense of unease.
This wasn’t a light matter; especially considering they had come here with a retinue of soldiers.
Appearing to guess at Eve’s anxiety, the chief said to her, “Eve, please go outside for a minute.”
But Eve shook her head.
“If there’s a reason why these scientists are interested in a humble village girl like me, then I want to know what it is,” she said, somewhat challengingly.
It wasn’t like she’d never done anything of note. Depending on the situation…there was a chance that she would have to drive off the scientists that she’d rescued herself.
“Oh dear, let’s all calm down now, everyone.” Seth stood in the center of the group, remonstrating all present. “Sorry for being rude. …I’m sure you are as well, aren’t you Adam?”
“…”
“None of us wants to see this turn out like what happened with the ‘Witch of Merrigod’.”
Upon hearing that name, the village chief’s gaze turned even sharper. “So…you two are on a ‘witch hunt’ after all!”
“You’re quite knowledgeable. I suppose you…suspected us of that from the start. You not knowing about Dr. Horus’ death—was also a lie, I imagine.”
“I said this earlier, but I haven’t gone to the Twelve Royal Capitals in some time. I rarely even go outside the village. …But sorcerers have a network that allows them to share information.”
“The spell that uses green onions? Talking to people at long distances…Well, leaving that aside you have several misunderstandings here, so I shall explain.”
Adam looked at Seth with dissatisfaction. “No, I’m the one who—”
“Just leave this to your underling. Mister Director.” After cutting Adam off, Seth once more bowed to Eve and the village chief. “I have yet to introduce myself. My name is Seth Twiright. I work for the Royal Research Institute, and I am the late Dr. Horus’ top apprentice.”
“…Self-labeled top apprentice,” Eve heard Adam quietly mutter.
.
Levianta was called a “Kingdom”, but at present the position of ruler was not something gained by heredity.
In this country that was born to protect the temple and flourishing through the legacy bequeathed by the gods, the “gods” were absolute, and all people were little more than their servants.
The one who ruled the country had to be someone who could hear “the voice of the gods”. And the one they deemed most suitable for that was a virgin who commanded extraordinary magical power.
For that reason Levianta was ruled through the ages by a “queen”, but there were various institutions that existed for selecting that queen.
The special orphanage owned by the Loop Octopus family, the Lighwatch temple managed by the Asayev family, the Royal Research Institute run by the Vaju family, etc…
This also served as a source of political conflict in the senate. Because whichever establishment the queen was born into decided who was the next head of the senate. The current queen Alice Merry-Go-Round had once been a child raised in the special orphanage.
“Naturally, the other families don’t just passively sit and watch. There are a lot of senate members who get worked up over making the next queen show up from their own facility. As for the Vaju family, they’ve been seeking out results from a certain experiment…”
The village chief covered his face with his hand as he listened to Seth’s explanation. “Scheming to artificially birth a child with strong magical potential…How frightening.”
“Be that as it may, if we hadn’t then the institute wouldn’t get its funding for the legacy research. Dr. Horus couldn’t afford not to comply.”
“There have always been shady rumors about the Royal Research Institute. That to birth the ‘next queen’ they abduct potential mothers from all over. …Though Horus never told me anything himself.”
“That’s another misconception. It’s not like the research institute is forcibly making off with these women. It’s all out of their consent—if it means performing a service to the gods then everyone is quite happy to participate in our research.”
The village chief snorted, clearly not believing him. “It hasn’t been like that recently, at the very least. You’ve all been carrying out ‘witch hunts’, even using troops for it.”
“To be accurate, they’re a peace-keeping force. And, well, we’ve found ourselves in certain circumstances that require we hurry.”
“Why is that? As I recall the current queen is still in her forties. Her dynasty should last for another twenty years more at least.”
“…The institute is no longer searching for someone to be the ‘mother of the queen’.”
“--? What do you mean?”
“We are trying to find a woman who can become queen. And the new queen will also become the mother of the gods…The ‘Ma’.”
“You can’t mean…!? The ‘Ma’ is little more than a fairy-tale!”
Seeing the chief’s astonishment, Eve asked, “Father, what’s the ‘Ma’?”
“…It is said that when catastrophe is on the cusp of visiting this world, the dragon god LeviaBehemo with two heads and two wills will have a second coming in this world as human children. And the woman who births these ‘Twins of God’ is ‘Ma’…the divine mother, Mem Aleph…It’s an old myth passed down from long ago.”
“Erm…” Eve then said to Seth, guessing on her own what the conclusion to the story she just heard was then. “…So if the gods must be reborn in this world…Then does that mean that there really is a catastrophe coming?”
Seth briefly clapped for her. “That’s correct, Miss Eve.”
“But what’s your basis for that?”
“It was none other than the dragon god LeviaBehemo who prophesized thus. Through the queen. We’ve never had an oracle be wrong before. The senate needed to come up with a countermeasure post-haste.”
And the countermeasure drafted by the senate head Miroku Loop Octopus was project “Ma”.
They changed the role of the next queen selection measures to search for a woman who could become the mother of the gods.
Once she had safely birthed the children that would become receptacles for the gods, she would obtain the position of queen in place of Alice, as reward for her service. …That sort of thing.
“But if you do that then the current queen will have to step down. Can the senate really decide that on their own?”
“The current queen agrees with this project as well, you see. …I mean, I think that the members of the senate wouldn’t be able to move with this much forward momentum if she didn’t.”
The one who managed to produce the mother of the gods from their institution would achieve glory as the savior who protected the world from catastrophe.
And also the position of next head of the senate.
“…Anyhow, the Royal Research Institute must also search for ‘Ma’ candidates under orders of the Vaju family.
Upon hearing that the village chief gave a sideways glance to Eve with a sullen expression. “And so…you’ve selected my own daughter as an ‘Ma’ candidate.”
“The Royal Research Institute is seen as the most plausible source for completing this project. So the head of the senate has given the institute several authorizations. Such as to freely make use of security forces and their information.”
“But if the Royal Research Institute were to successfully carry out Project ‘Ma’, Miroku will lose his position as senate head. Is he alright with that?”
“Well, I don’t know that far…But I imagine it would be pretty difficult to find the ‘Ma’ in Senator Miroku’s special orphanage. And so…maybe his plan is to be able to continue to wield some influence in the senate even after stepping down by collaborating with the facility most likely to succeed.”
“What an awful power struggle.”
“I agree. Well, anyway, it’s thanks to our information that we were able to learn of some rumors around here…”
That was, the rumors of the “Witch of the Forest” that supposedly would appear in the sprawling “Forest of Held” to the south of the village.
There was a girl who would use magic to drive off the tribesmen that would appear every now and then…She had green hair, and would cast lightning with a blue spoon…Supposedly.
“According to what we’ve heard, she’s the bearer of significant magical power. Only, this region is currently being terrorized by that savage clan. That’s why we brought along minimal guards with us…Though conversely, that seems to have just spurred them on.”
Listening to all that, Eve was reminded of the soldiers that they’d left out on the plain. “I wonder if…those guys are alright.”
Adam had been quiet this whole time, but he replied, “The peacekeeping unit…especially Gammon, are all strong men. They can’t use magic, but they are proficient with swords and guns. They won’t be defeated by the likes of those tribesmen.”
“But—”
“In the worst-case scenario, they’ll seek out reinforcements from the royal capital…Right now it’s us I’m worried about.”
Eve felt her cheeks flush from being looked at by this man so close to her in age.
There weren’t any intrepid, intellectual guys like him in the village.
“Hmph…It sounds like you two are mistaken about something.” The village chief cut in between Eve and Adam. “This ‘Witch of the Forest’…I’ve certainly heard of that story, but that isn’t Eve.”
“B-but, she has the same green hair, and her magical ability—”
As Adam tried to argue, the village chief quietly shook his head. “Green hair is a trait shared by the people of the forest…And as for magical ability, everyone in the village has it in varying measures.”
“…Let me ask then, Chief. Are there any other green-haired girls in this village—”
“No. We’re immigrants who originally wandered here from elsewhere. But Eve is different. She was abandoned and set adrift in a nearby river when she was a baby. My late-wife scooped her out. We raised her as our own daughter.”
“So then—”
“Did the intel you gathered claim that the Witch of the Forest was someone in this village?”
“No, it…didn’t say that…”
“If you’re looking for a girl with green hair, I’d suggest going to the Forest of Held. You’re sure to run into the people of the forest immediately.”
“…Seth.”
Adam gave Seth a prompting glance.
“O.K. Now it’s time for this.”
What he brought out was a small iron rod that forked into two prongs.
“This is an artifact. It can measure someone’s latent magical potential by holding it out in front of them like this…Augh!” Appearing to have realized something, Seth looked up to the ceiling and held his head. “We don’t have the output device! I left it in the carriage.”
“What!?”
“No…It’s understandable. With the way things were there wasn’t any time to take out something so heavy…”
“…Nothing for it. We’ll have to go back there and get it.”
Adam asked if they could borrow Eve’s automated carriage.
Given that it would be dangerous to bring a woman over to where there might still be some tribesmen, he apparently intended to go get the equipment with Seth.
“But you need magical ability to run the carriage.”
“Don’t worry. I have enough myself.”
Thinking on it, he had been riding in a large automatic carriage. Adam must have been driving that one too.
“Don’t break it. It’s very important to us.”
Adam nodded at Eve’s words, and started to move to leave the house with Seth along.
--But that moment, they heard the shrieking sound of a car wheel from outside.
“Huh!? …Could it be?”
Adam leaned out the window.
And there he beckoned over someone who was outside.
After a beat, a long-haired man walked into the room.
He had a gun and a sword sheathed at his hip. He appeared to be a military man.
“So you’re alright, Gammon.”
This man named Gammon exchanged a handshake with Adam.
“It was no big deal. There were just quite a lot of them, so it took some time.”
“You only have the one carriage? And I can’t see the other soldiers outside of your driver.”
“I sent everyone back to the royal capital. They’ll need to appeal for information, and reinforcements, depending on the circumstances.”
“Reinforcements?...If you were able to repel the tribesmen then there’s no need for that, is there? Don’t do anything too dangerous. This is supposed to be a peaceful—”
“I won’t be turning my sword on any witch. This is incidental. I want to take the opportunity to make a decisive strike on the white army.”
Adam heaved a sigh.
“…I suppose that is the official job of a peacekeeping force. But don’t forget. Your responsibility is—”
“Guarding you, I know. Naturally I will accomplish that properly myself.”
“Alone?”
“Is that not enough?”
“…It’s enough. You’re dependable.”
“You could stand to be a bit cheerier. I did bring you back what you forgot.”
Packed in the luggage compartment of the automated carriage that the captain of the security forces, Gammon, had rode in on was the device that Adam and Seth had left behind on the plains.
Once more putting together the magic measuring device, Seth started to take note of Eve’s magical ability.
“Though this isn’t a standard instrument. Using it in itself is quite simple. Please just stand perfectly still right there.”
Seth turned the iron rod's prongs in Eve’s direction.
After a while the box that was attached by wire to the bundle of metal let out a “be-beep”. Seth set it down and started to examine the numbers displayed on the box’s screen.
When he did, his expression grew crestfallen.
“…Your M count is 72. And your other numbers are average. That means you’re only a little bit stronger in magic than the average person.
Adam stood next to Seth and peered at the data output device.
“You’re sure the device isn’t broken?”
“I could check…Hey, Gammon.” Seth did a reading of Gammon’s magical ability just as he had done with Eve. “…M count of 0. Alright! You are, without a doubt, ‘magically impotent’!”
“…”
While breaking out into something of a cold sweat as Gammon glared at him, Seth then measured the magic potential of Adam, and then the village chief.
“…Amazing. The village chief is 200, and Adam exceeds 300. If you two were women you’d most certainly be candidates for ‘Ma’—At any rate, I think the device is working correctly.”
Upon hearing that outcome, the village chief slowly stood before Adam.
“And now we’ve satisfied you that Eve is not this ‘Witch of the Forest’.”
“…At the very least we’ve established that she can’t be an ‘Ma’ candidate.”
“I see…That’s good then, Eve.”
Eve wondered if it really was.
Maybe she had just let a chance for her to become queen slip out from under her very nose.
Queen…huh.
It was an unbelievable honor for a citizen of Levianta to obtain that position.
But I doubt my father would let me become queen.
Eve knew quite well that he was a man who hated politics.
It was only because there was no one else who could fulfill the role of village chief that he had bitterly accepted the role.
I’ve had to work specifically because he rarely takes in any taxes.
She thought her father was a splendid man.
But that didn’t mean she had no complaints.

Hayabusa: so now you decide to fight back
I draw my chakrama as shield to stop that sword, with all my strength i pushed that man
One: so you telling me,you for long time defending the world against abominations like me,correct?
Hayabusa:....
One: so we can say you're some kind of hero
One:that sword in you're hand, i can clearly see how much Scratch on it,how many people got cut by it, i can even smell the blood on that sword...tell me...in your fight against Forces of evil, do you ever felt guilty over killing people that might be saved?or do you even considered your murdering as sin?
Hayabusa:......
One: if you thinking that saving the world is only about kill the people without no regrets or no punishment, then you are no different than those people that you fight
One:(That's Right, i cannot die here,if i die here what would happened to midgard , or to people that is believing in me, or to my Brother... i still have a score to settle with Zero)
Hayabusa: you talk to much
One: Naturally i rather to speak less , unless it's important
Hayabusa: you are really a weird one, i keep you alive intill i figure out what should i do with you but if you ran away i would hunt you down even if you gone to depth of earth
One:...
Hayabusa:Ayane
Ayane: yes master, she's all yours...you must keep an eye on her, it's your duty
Ayane: yes master
One: (Ayane!...isn't it the name of that girl's sister,..oh it's right,,,so this is kasumi's sister, the one that wants to kill her sister)
Hayabusa: let's go, we have war ahead of us
One:( a war!!!looks exactly like kasumi told, maybe i don't belong to this world, but if people in danger, then i must do something too)
............................................................................................................................
Brother One:...it's horrible...One,...NOoooo,..i can't take it,,..
Brother One: YOU....you're the one that killed my sister...we should never even Listened to you
Kasumi: Wait, she's not dead, it's weird but i can feel her presence in my world
Brother One: you mean she's alive?
Kasumi: yes,she gone to same way that i came here
soldier:Lady One.,Lady One...it's Zero,,the soldiers reported that she soon would arrive in the Cathedral City
Brother One(Lady One pose):don't worry, i kill the traitor myself, you can go
Brother One: what should i do? Wh a t sh oul d i Do?WHAT SHOULD I DO?One suppose to be here when this happens
brother one:please tell me, can you bring back One to here,

I haven’t seen other isekai villainess series yet, I didn’t even realize it was popular until after getting into my next life, so if you have recommendations, I’d love to try out more!
HameFura was my first Isekai villainess ever! Coincidentally, I'm also a fan of reverse harem so the series really excites me! I don't think there are other animes for isekai villainess (in fact, I think HameFura is the first of its genre to have an anime adaptation. I wish they'd adapt more in the future though) but as you'd probably guess, there are a lot of Light Novels featuring that genre! There are also many manga adaptations of them! Some of the popular and the ones that I'm currently reading are these, though i must tell you that some of these recs are just isekai in general/reborn/reincarnated/transferred to isekai. So these are a variation of isekai genre rather than just a "reincarnated as isekai/otome game villainess" (ho boi,,,, this is a long ass one forgive me)
The Villainess' Slow Prison Life Began With Her Broken Engagement (completed, pretty short but there are the continuation in the LN, which I'll def check in the future!)
Middle-Aged Man's Noble Daughter Reincarnation (haven't read it yet, but it seemed interesting, so I'll just add this too!)
The Vengeful White Cat Lounging On The Dragon King's Lap (this is a transferred into isekai but i thought it's pretty cute! Ongoing)
The Mage With Special Circumstances Wants To Live Peacefully (MC originally lives in the this fantasy world, so i wouldn't say this is an isekai, but it's cute and interesting, so i totally recommend it! Ongoing)
Since I Became A Saint, I'll Do Whatever I Want With My Second Life ~The Prince Was My Lover Who Threw Me Away In My Previous Life~ (reborn in the same world, really interesting and I love the MC. Ongoing)
I'm Thinking Of Quitting The Villainess' Entourage (This is cute 🥺🥺 still ongoing though)
This Time I Will Definitely Be Happy! (I LOVE THIS SO FREAKING MUCH IT'S REALLY INTERESTING AND THE MC IS JUST 👌👌👌 Completed 😢)
Tensei Saki Ga Shoujo Manga No Shiro Buta Reijou Datta (similar to HameFura where the villainess recovers her memories and changed for the greater good, but the setting for this one is shoujo manga rather than otome game. I think the MC is really cute and love how hardworking she is. Ongoing)
I’M A Villainous Daughter, So I’M Going To Keep The Last Boss (WHY DOES THIS HAVE TO END SMH 😢 Like, I love LOVE this manga so freaking much! Totally recommend it 10/10! Just a heads up, original otome game heroine who's kind like HameFura Maria in isekai manga/LN is considered rare. Original otome game heroine like this manga are considered to be more common. So,,, prepare yourself 💀)
Mahoutsukai No Konyakusha (the world the MC is reincarnated in doesn't have any relation to something from her past life, so this is a general fantasy setting. BUT IT'S CUTE SO WHATEVER 🤗 I believe this one is completed 🤔)
For Certain Reasons, The Villainess Noble Lady Will Live Her Post-Engagement Annulment Life Freely (interesting MC, story has main subject, which is medical stuff cause mc was a nurse in her past life, ongoing)
Of Course, I'll Claim Palimony! (This is just so interesting, and i love how straightforward the MC is, not a reincarnated MC or anything, she is originally from the world :) ongoing)
I Was Reincarnated, And Now I'm A Maid! (Reincarnated as the villainess maid instead! This is pretty heartwarming but there aren't many chapters currently, still ongoing)
Endo And Kobayashi’S Live Commentary On The Villainess (This is just so amazing and interesting! Not reborn/reincarnated, but instead, the ones from the normal world is playing the game and gave commentary on the game, one of the character (the prince) can hear them, even though he's in the game. Ongoing)
Milady Just Wants To Relax (reincarnated in a novel world as the villainess! Tells the story of the after life of MC opening up a cafe after she was exiled. So fluffy and the Love interests are beastmen)
Fiancée’S Observation Log Of The Self-Proclaimed Villainess (One of the most popular isekai manga after HameFura! Instead of the female MC's point of view, this is told in the villainess' (aka MC's) fiance's point of view! Also, the villainess in this one wants to confront her bad end rather than avoid it like in HameFura 😂 and she's as dumb as Katarina so 😔😔👌👌👌 ongoing)
When I Woke Up, Twenty Years Passed! ~The Villainous Daughter’S Afterlife~ (cute as shit and hot male LI 😌😌😌 ongoing)
Seijo No Maryoku Wa Bannou Desu (this one is transferred into isekai, i stan the MC so much, she was treated like shit at first, but it gets better dw,,, and the lead male is just so 😍😍😍)
The Villainess Want To Marry A Commoner (this is honestly just so cute and relatable! The reincarnated MC loves one of the supporting cast rather than the main LI in the otome game, so she gets engaged with him and decides to stay away from the heroine and the LI, ongoing)
The Result Of Being Reincarnated Is Having A Master-Servant Relationship With The Yandere Love Interest (reincarnated into yandere otome game! Male lead is a lowkey yandere for his master aka the villainess (MC), ongoing.)
Isekai De "kuro No Iyashi Te" Tte Yobarete Imasu (similar to seijo no maryoku, but still quite different! This is enjoyable too! Completed)
Inso's Law (the only manhwa I'll list here. I just love the relationship the MC and all the LI and original heroine. This one is set in a world of romance novel, but not one that the MC already read or knew. The MC just knew she got transferred and is forced to live in a romance novel world because of how all the laws that applied to a common romance novel is shown when she was living her life there. She was assumed to be the heroine's (normal looking) best friend. Ongoing)
The Banished Villainess! Living The Leisurely Life Of A Nun Making Revolutionary Church Food (ONE OF MY FAV! This is just so cute! (Heads up, shit may or may not go down 👀) but this is still the cutest shit ever, male lead is a scary looking guy that's actually really soft and dense and he loves the villainess (MC) but again, MC is too dumb to realize that 😔 BUT IT'S CUTE SO IT'S ALRIGHT! Ongoing)
May I Ask For One Final Thing? (BADASS MC! YES!! MC is originally from the world and she kicks ass at the people who wronged her, ongoing)
The Villainess Is Adored By The Crown Prince Of The Neighboring Kingdom (again, one of the most popular isekai villaines after HameFura. And again, the original otome game heroine is the exact opposite of Maria, so prepare yourself! This thing is cute as heck! It shows how the Villainess (MC) was treated like shit by one of the male lead (a prince)but then a hotter guy (the neighboring prince) came and proposed to her,, lmao serves the prince right, ongoing)
Isekai De Mofumofu Nadenade Suru Tame Ni Ganbattemasu. (Reincarnated to a fantasy setting world, and the smol MC is adored by all animals, SUPER FLUFFY, just like the title)
I Swear I Won't Bother You Again! (Reborn again in the same world,MC decided to stay away from the Heroine and won't bully her.....which backfired horribly 😜ongoing)
Marielle Clarac's Engagement (MC originally from the world, just shows the life of her as a romance novel writer in the noble world. This one is super cute too, ongoing)
I’M Not A Villainess!! Just Because I Can Control Darkness Doesn’T Mean I’M A Bad Person! (Set in shoujo manga world, and the MC was a misunderstood girl 😢😢😢😢 i love her sm 😔 ongoing)
The Reborn Witch Foretells Destruction (reborn to a fantasy world, and the artstyle is my personal fav! I just love the relationship the MC has with the love interests)
I Am Troubled That My Fiance Is A Villain (just sum cute shit, MC born as a side character, but somehow caught the attention of the otome game Villain and was proposed by him. Also the original otome game heroine is....i think you already get it by now)
The Villainess Will Crush Her Destruction End Through Modern Firepower (BIG BAD BITCH ENERGYYYYYY even though she's a freaking loli, lol remind me of Youjo Senki...villainess MC was reincarnated to an otome game and one interesting trait of her from past life, she loves guns and revolver,,, and all those stuff, ongoing)
It Seems Like I Got Reincarnated Into The World Of A Yandere Otome Game (again, yandere otome game, but the yandere flags are all taken down, so it's safe, (still have some of those yandere tendencies tho) ongoing)
Fake Cinderella (just a patisserie reincarnated to a fantasy world, and she was engaged to a prince that is really fond of her (i say fond because their age gap is a little....questionable) ongoing)
Koushaku Reijou No Tashinami (i barely understand what's going on half of the time but i love the romance the MC villainess has with her LI. (And the LI isn't one of the capture targets from the og otome game) focuses on the subject of politic so.....RIP. but i still love the romance 🥳)
Lady Rose Wants To Be A Commoner (I 👏 LOVE 👏 THIS 👏 It's just freaking amazing and cute! MC is reincarnated as the otome game heroine, but she lets the event flowed to her bad ending, so she got to be exiled and live her life as a commoner. Interesting MC and amazing artstyle! Ongoing)
I Reincarnated Into An Otome Game As A Villainess With Only Destruction Flags... In A Dire Situation!? Verge Of Destruction Arc (HameFura spinoff! This one is set in the world where Katarina is already bullying Maria because her past life memories came like, 5/7(?) years after the incident with the scar with the prince unlike in the OG. I actually just need more HameFura content so,,, 🥺😔👉👈 Katarina's still the same ol dumb so dw,,,also more side characters are introduced! Ongoing)
The Villainess, Cecilia Silvie, Doesn't Want To Die, So She Decided To Cross-Dress! (Haven't read it yet, but i LOVE the genderbend idea!)
The Earl's Daughter Was Suddenly Employed As The Crown Prince's Fiancée (MC is already originally living in fantasy setting world, and her interactions with the crown prince is just so freaking cute i can't,,, ongoing....i think?)
The Daughter Of The Albert House Wishes For Ruin (This is so much fun to read! Same as fiancee observation log, the villainess MC wishes to confront her dead end for some reason, ongoing i think?)
AND THAT'S ALL I CAN GIVE! This post is long as heck, and i haven't even talk about ALL of them, plus there's also the manhwa. 😂😂😂 but i hope you'll like these!

DOS: Hunter to Lover (Male Dragon Shifter X Male Elf/Reader)
Chapter summary: You are an elf who must bring back a dragon’s head to be a hunter for your clan. While on your hunt, your team leaves you alone.
pt. 1, Pt. 2, pt. 3 pt. 4, pt.5
“And remember what hangs in the balance; your path in life!” Shouted the elder elf. His luscious silver locks wavered in the snowy air as he paced in front of us, giving us the speech every new hunting elf heard when they went on their first hunt. “Come back with a dragon’s head, you become one of us; fierce hunters who feed our clan! Come back empty-handed, and you will have to make another life for yourself!”
Every firstborn heard this speech on their 800th year of life, when we come of age to be adult elves. And now it was my turn.
I stood with my team of five other elves, we all wielded a weapon; a bow, an ax, a sword or a dagger, along with hunting knives on our belt. I held a bow, a quiver tightly strapped around my torso. I set my face hard, but I wasn’t ready for this.
The elves beside me absolutely were; they were ready to be hunters for our clan.
The elder faced the group, his speech finished. His silver robes wavered in the breeze. He scanned all of us, his ancient gaze pausing on me. I gulped.
“Go forth! And find yourself a beast to kill!”
The surrounding elves raised their fists. “Ho!” They shouted.
“Ho,” I mumbled with them.
The groups dispersed. I followed mine to the north of our village. We already had scouted to the north, and there we found hints that a dragon lived nearby; shed scales, large animal carcasses, large dung piles, all remanents of a dragon.
Our leader Bracken, an elf three months older and taller than me, ran over our plan quickly; I would release some arrows to distract the beast, three others would charge at it and our leader would drive his sword through the dragon’s chest. Straight forward, but hard to time and even harder to find the dragon. We all nodded, to show that we understood the plan. He gave a quick nod back, and we started our way out of the village.
We trekked for a long time until we found the dragon’s main feeding spot; he littered it with carcasses from recently to bones from years ago. I looked away, disgusted; how could any creature eat another creature? It was barbaric.
“Search for tracks,” our leader ordered. We split up.
I made my way over to the freshest carcass and circled it. Large five-clawed talon marks were pressed in the ground. I followed them out of the clearing to the east. I turned around.
“Bracken!” I called. But they were gone, the four of them had just disappeared. “Bracken, Arya, Nima, Flinn?” I called one by one. Nothing.
I thought for a moment. Perhaps they found tracks and wanted to investigate? I’m sure they’ll be back soon.
I went over to one of the wider trees around the clearing and leaped up into it, and sat in the branch's crook, leaning against the trunk. I looked at my bow, plucking the string as I waited for my team to come back. After a while, I stopped and looked up through the leaves at the pale blue sky above. I was getting sore from sitting on the branch.
I sighed and listened to my surroundings, so I could try to hear where my teammates were. I closed my eyes and focused on my ears. I pushed aside the close sounds and focused on the smaller ones. I could hear some grasshoppers nearby, two squirrels scurrying up a tree and a mother moon phoenix calling to her fledglings to come back for dinner. But no adolescent elves.
I sat like that for a long time. When I opened my eyes, the sun was setting and my legs were asleep. I stretched, dangled out of the tree, my hands gripping the branch as I hung there.
“What am I going to do?” I whispered. I walked over to the tracks I had found earlier. I had no team, no way to bring back a dragon’s head, and I had no way to get back safely without my teammates.
I looked at the long line of tracks ahead of me and drew in a breath. I’d have to stay silent and hope that the dragon and I didn’t cross paths.
I stayed to the edge of the tracks, walking beside them as I looked around. The forest was getting dark, but my Elven sight allowed me to see in the growing darkness.
My heart raced as I walked, I was so scared about coming across the dragon; I forgot about the tracks and wandered off course.
I stop in my stride as I came out of my thoughts.
Where am I?
I spun around and looked at the ground; no tracks in sight. I whipped my head around again, my breathing quickening.
I’m lost and alone.
I don’t know where the village is from here.
No one knows where I am. I’m going to die here at the talons of a bloodthirsty beast and no one will ever know where I died.
A picture of my parents and siblings flashed before my eyes.
They’ll never know...
Tears spilled from my eyes, and I heard heavy wings flap above me.
Mama and Papa will never know because I’m a coward and a fool
Something landed behind me rather lightly.
“It’s all right, little elfling,” soothed a male voice. “I won’t hurt you.”
I spun around, tears spilling down. In front of me stood a muscular male with broad shoulders and chest. His skin tone was much darker than my own pale complexion and had dark green scales on his jaw and neck. He had scaled dark green wings on his back and dark horns protruding from his dark shoulder length hair. He wore a pair of brown trousers and nothing more.
A dragon? I questioned. They have more than one form?
He came closer, his expression soft. “You’re lost, aren’t you?” He asked, he sounded like he will bundle me up and take care of me forever. I wanted to trust me.
I nodded my head, my lips quivering.
“Oh, little elfling,” he pouted. He came closer and wrapped his arms and wings around me. “Those elves were wrong to abandon you.” I sobbed into his chest. How was I doing this? I’m supposed to kill him, not sob uncontrollably in his hold.
“I know just what you need,” he said. He opened his wings and looked down at me. His bare chest was getting soaked by my tears. “Come with me, little elfling,” he whispered.
I nodded, even though it wasn’t a suggestion.
He put a wing around me and walked me away from where we were. I slowly gathered myself as we walked.
“What’s your name, little elfling?” He asked.
“(Y/N),” I stuttered.
“A pretty name for a pretty elf boy,” he mused. I smiled, blushing. “I’m Ugauc.”
I smiled at him. “Nice to meet you, Ugauc.”
We stopped in front of a curtain of leafy vines.
“Welcome to my home,” he greeted before moving me through the dew dusted leaves. On the other side was a bed made of animal hides, a few loose bones, a tiny stream of water and glowing crystals in the walls, ceiling and stalactites, illuminating the cave. There were no gold or gems, no Elven warriors strewn on the ground. No blood spattered on the walls and floor. Maybe we had everything wrong about them.
Ugauc walked forward, leaving me by the entrance.
“This... This is beautiful,” I gasped, focusing on the glowing ceiling.
Ugauc shrugged. “I suppose so. I guess I wanted to find a simple home, having figured out my mate is an elf.”
I looked at him. “Who?” I stiffed as my nose cleared up.
Ugauc hesitated and looked at me. “You, (Y/N).”
I looked back at him, frozen. All this comforting was just so he could—
—No, there must be more to it. He said figured out, remember.
“How do you know that we...?” I put my forefingers together.
Ugauc looked down, thinking about how to explain this. “When dragons come of an age to find a mate, an invisible string pulls us towards each other, so we may find each other. My string led me to your village. I was confused at first, but when you went on a scouting trip with those ‘teammates’ of yours, I knew it was one of you. So I observed all of you—I liked you the most—but when you spilt up to follow my tracks, it was easier for me to figure out which one of you is my soulmate,” he explained. He looked at me, golden eyes shining.
I looked down. “So, we’re—?” I pointed from me to him.
He nodded.
“And you’re sure it’s not any of the others?”
“(Y/N), what I feel with you is like nothing I have ever felt with anyone else.” He moved closer and cupped my cheek.
I swallowed saliva. “Do—did you scare off the others to figure this out?”
Ugauc stepped back. “By the howling winds, no,” he said, sounding insulted. “No, I didn’t. As soon as you turned your back, they walked off, little elfling. I promise you.”
I sighed, disappointed. I looked back at the vines behind me. No light passed through them. I looked back to Ugauc.
“I will walk you home,” he made his way towards the vines.
“Could—,” I started. He turned around. “Could I stay the night? I’m not ready to go home and everyone will be asleep.”
Ugauc smiled. “Please do, little elfling.”
“I’m not an elfling, Ugauc.” I crossed my arms.
“I know. But you’re my little elfling.”
I smiled, and he smiled back. I was so happy he had found me.
Let me know if you want a part 2! I enjoyed writing this WAY too much.

Next Part: Here
A flash of lightning tore through the dark clouded sky as thunder seemed to be constantly rumbling overhead. Combined with the howling wind, it was nearly impossible for the crew of the Icebreaker to hear their captain barking out orders. At the wheel was a middle-aged woman in an ice blue fur-lined coat with ice crystals seeming to emerge from the shoulders, matching boots and gloves and navy pants. She had long flowing auburn hair that reached past her waist and faded to an icy blue about halfway down, as if half of her hair was frozen, and tanned skin adorned with glowing blue markings that were occasionally visible through breaks between her gloves and along her neck. Bright almost glowing blue eyes pierced through the gloom as she struggled to keep her galleon steady in the battering winds. This woman is Azura Icewind, captain of the Glacial Dragons. “Skuggi, how much farther?” she yelled over the storm at a figure glad in purple robes, shaggy black hair tousled and drenched as grey eyes glanced up at his captain. “Should be dead ahead, captain!” he replied in a slight Icelandic accent. “Land ho!” A crewmate cried from the crow’s nest as the silhouette of an island appeared through the thick rainfall, a large peak piecing the thundering clouds. “Prepare to dock!” Azura yelled before staring intently at the island. It wasn’t marked on any of her navigator’s maps. ‘Dragon’s Truth’ Skuggi called it. Azura placed a hand over her chest where her heart would be as a faint blue glow shone through her coat. “I’ll see this through…for both of us…”
Meanwhile…
The sky was clear and starry as the waves calmly lapped at sandy shores. All was silent aside from the slight crunching of sand accompanied by the sound of wood carefully being dragged across it. That and the sound of a 10-year-old quietly grunting as she dragged what seemed to be a make-shift dinghy with a sail attached to it and a rock tied with rope, serving as an anchor or sorts. She let out a sigh as she finally got the boat near the water’s edge. Stella Icewind. A young girl with shoulder length, dark brown hair with frosted tips, ice blue eyes, and tanned, freckled skin. Clad in a raincoat, trousers and boots with a fake pirate hat on, she gazed out at the horizon with a determined expression. Just as she was about to push the boat into the water, she felt a hand on her shoulder. Stella let out a sigh of defeat as she turned around to face an elderly woman clad in a brown dress, that looked like it had been sewn and patched up over many years of use, who smiled sadly down at her. “Nana, I…you see…I gotta…” Stella tried to come up with an excuse but was shot down by the woman slowly shaking her head, “Stella, I know you want to follow your mother out into the Sea of Thieves but you’re still too young.”
“She needs me though…” Stella mumbled. “I’m sure your mother is willing to wait a few more years for your grand arrival.” Stella’s grandmother reassured, “But for now, try to enjoy your time on land. After all, you may start to miss it when you spend the majority of it on the water. Now off to bed. Even pirates need their sleep.”
“Ok…” Stella groaned as she glanced once more at the horizon before following her grandmother inside their cottage not far from the water’s edge.
Present Day…
A now 21-year-old Stella hammered diligently at a now-more-sea-worthy dinghy. Her hair was now chin-length and messy, still retaining the frost-white tips. She wore a white and light blue kimono-jacket with splits at the shoulders which revealed the dark blue shirt underneath, along with blue hakama pants tied with an ice-blue ribbon and blue sandals and white tights. A blue crystal necklace hung from her neck. She let out a content sigh as she placed her hammer down in the golden sands before stepping back to admire her handy work. The sky was a bright blue with the sun shining down; not a cloud in the sky. She took a quick swing from her waterskin before placing it into her rucksack and loading it onto the dinghy. As she did a quick once-over, she could hear footsteps approach from behind. “You can’t stop me this time, Nana.” Stella began without turning around, “Dead or not, I have to finish what she started.”
The day before, Nana had revealed to Stella that her mother had gone missing 11 years ago and was presumed dead. This was the final straw for her and was ready to begin her journey to the Sea of Thieves.
“I know. And I’m not here to stop you.” Stella’s grandmother sighed, “I should’ve told you sooner. I know I can’t hold you back any longer. I knew you’d eventually set out there whether I allowed it or not. All I ask is that you be careful. I lost a daughter. I don’t want to lose a granddaughter too.” Stella gripped the edge of her boat tightly before spinning around and hugging her grandmother, “You won’t. I promise.” Stella’s grandmother gently hugged her back before stepping away, “Now go. Enjoy your adventure and don’t look back.”
Stella nodded, fighting back tears before giving the dinghy one last push into the water. She carefully stepped into the boat and, taking a deep calming breath, she unveiled the sails, immediately catching the wind. As the dinghy took to the waves, Stella gave one last wave to her grandmother before facing the horizon. As she gripped the crystal around her neck, a lullaby that her mother sang to her – which she referred to as the anthem of the Sea of Thieves – came to her head as she began to quietly sing it to herself.
“Cloaked in folds of midnight waters, Side by side, we sons and daughters. We set forth for no king's orders, But we'll sail together. Hold fast, tides are turning. Flames roar, fires are burning. We'll all be returning, If we sail together…”
The Next Day...
“…ugh…”
Stella groggily woke up on an island, lying on her side. In front of her was a lit campfire and just a few feet beyond it was the shoreline with a partially wrecked sloop calmly floating on the crystal blue waters. Tropical plants and trees covered the island. Stella sat up, racking her brain as she tried to remember how she got there. That’s when she remembered. Her boat was attacked by a skeleton ship. The good news was that meant she was more than likely on the outskirts of the Sea of Thieves. The bad news was that her tiny dinghy didn’t stand a chance against the huge ship. Her boat took a direct hit from a cannonball, completely wrecking it. “Must’ve washed up here…great.” Stella sighed as she got to her feet.
“Indeed. You were quite fortunate to survive.”
Stella jumped, not expecting to hear another voice. Before she could question anything, a green glow emerged from the campfire and took on a humanoid shape. In front of her was the ghost of a portly man with a thick beard. He wore a standard pirates outfit – slightly torn – aside from a cloak on his back (along with three swords which Stella suspected was the reason for his ghostly form) and a wooden griffon claw as a pegleg. He also used a cane with a gaping skull on the top. “You look a little worse for wear, my friend. You must be on quite the journey.” He noted. “You could say that. Who are-?” Stella was cut off by the growling of a ferocious monster- oh wait, no, that was just her stomach. The ghost chuckled a bit, “I should eat something, if I were you. A full belly can do wonders for your spirits.”
“Ah, y-yeah…” Stella looked around and noticed a banana lying a couple of feet away from her. She picked up the yellow fruit, scoffing it down quickly. “There, you look better already. Maybe even strong enough to reach the Sea of Thieves.” The ghost smiled, “These days they call me The Pirate Lord, but you may call me Ramsey. Back when I discovered this place, I was just a bold explorer like you. I dreamt of finding uncharted waters filled with treasures and rife with danger, where every sunrise brought a new adventure…”
“Wait…is this…am I in the Sea of Thieves?” Stella’s eyes lit up with newfound hope. “Nearly. You’ve one last crossing to make.” Ramsey replied, “But it seems like you lost your gear upon washing up here.” Sure enough, Stella’s rucksack was nowhere to be seen. “Not to worry though, there’s some old weapons and equipment lying about here that you can use. If you’re up for a bit of work that is.” Stella gave a determined nod, “If it means I can get to the Sea of Thieves, I’ll do it.”
“Well now, I’d say you’re as ready as you’ll ever be for what’s ahead.” Ramsey said as Stella loaded the last of the equipment from the Pirate Lord’s chest into a bag, “Allow me to show you the path…” Ramsey motioned to the fog-covered horizon before slamming his cane into the ground, causing the mist to part and lanterns to alight in the distance. “The Shroud is beginning to part, but you have one more task before your journey continues.” Ramsey continued, “You may be ready to sail, but your ship still needs repairs. Go, and tend to her wounds! After that, I must bid you farewell.”
“Thanks for your help.” Stella smiled, “If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have made it.”
“It’s no bother at all. Now go. Adventure awaits!”
Stella nodded before sprinting towards the old sloop. As Ramsey watched the young woman scuttle about the ship, fixing it up, he muttered to himself, “She’s most certainly your daughter, Azura. I wonder if she’ll live up to your legacy…?” With that, he disappeared in a puff of green smoke.
Stella huffed and puffed as she raised the anchor. Once it was secured, she grabbed the ropes for the sails and unravelled them before hurrying over to the wheel, guiding the ship away from the island and through the lanterns. As she sailed, she could see the wrecks of many ships, ranging from sloops to full galleons. As unnerving as it was, she tried not to let it get to her as she pushed on. She jumped as she saw what seemed like a giant shark-like creature briefly surface before diving under her ship. She remembered stories her mother told her as a child of creatures that lurked in the Sea of Thieves, with one of them being a sea beast called the Megalodon. She wagered that was one of them. Her thoughts were interrupted by a large splash on her portside. A skeleton ship. Stella was about to steer away in a panic when she realised that her new ship was outfitted with cannons. “Might as well get some practise with these things.” She muttered and she scrambled down the steps and grabbed some cannonballs from a nearby barrel, loading them into the cannons. Her first few shots missed completely but she managed to land one, knocking a skeleton overboard. Just as she was about to aim the next shot, tentacles shot up from the water beneath the skeletons’ ship and began to drag it down under the waves. “Kraken too, huh? Better them than me…” Stella mumbled, somewhat relieved the monstrous squid targeted the skeletons instead of her. She pushed the ship forward until she began to spot islands off in the distance as the fog began to close behind her. There was no turning back now. But Stella didn’t want to.
“I made it, mom.” Stella breathed, a few stray tears escaping, “I made it…”
“I’m home.”
