Feeling someone's approach behind her, Valerii turned to see two figures standing at the other end of the hall--only one of them human. She expected Zach to track her down the moment he finally peeled himself away from Emily's side so seeing him heading towards her with intent wasn't much of a surprise. Still... she glanced across her left shoulder to ensure the pistol Sada had advised her to carry was there and ready should the need arise. She hoped it didn't.

Valerii was tired of answering questions. But there was no rest for the wicked, right?

"Then I'm afraid I'm at a disadvantage." Arvin reached out a hand to shake, offering a bright smile. To him, a stranger was a potential future friend or ally. "It's a pleasure to meet you though, Mister ..."

People passing by them on the street were giving Doom a wide berth, especially the toons. But Arvin didn't notice. His greeting to Doom was genuine.

He had been king. He knew what it was like to enforce a law and keep people safe. He also knew he didn't ask people to spy on their neighbors or report "suspicious behavior." He asked them to report things that made them feel unsafe. The wording didn't sit quite right with Arvin.

But that polite smile stayed glued on his face. "I'll keep an eye out. Toontown should thrive. I'll be sure to do my best to make that happen."

And that would start with him going to his daughter, or Doc, or one of the other princesses, and asking if anyone knew anything about Judge Doom. If he was feeling a bit nervous around the man ... maybe he had a reputation. Or maybe he was just really bad at public speaking.

"Do keep your eyes peeled for anything suspicious. Anything at all." He waved his hand dismissively. "Toontown thrives with citizens being vigilant. Anything at all. The information you give just might be what we need to help our splendid community. We reward those who have their fellow citizens in mind!" Step one, threaten the illegally(?) resurrected toon. Step two, see if you can get him to squeal on his friends and family for you. Step three, was a mystery. But step four was all profit.
