WHEN: Wednesday, 8 September, 1980 WHERE: Macnair Mortuary, Dufftown WHO: Amycus Carrow & Esmeralda Macnair ( @esmeraldamacnair )
“Have you ever seen so much rain?” Amy watched gleefully as the water eclipsed her view of the street. As she shook out her umbrella, struggling to collapse it, she thought of all the worms swimming about in the mud, jealous that she couldn’t be swimming in it with them. “I guess I made it just in time.”

WHEN: 16 March, 1980 WHERE: Hogwarts grounds WHO: Esmeralda Macnair & Narcissa Black ( @esmeraldamacnair )
“He’s looking healthy, isn’t he?” Narcissa was not shy about the lust in her eyes as she watched Marceaux Travers walk briskly towards the castle, nor the jealous in her tone. “How do you think that marriage is faring?”

ESMERALDA MACNAIR
“Personally, no,” she agreed. “Physically though…” Esmeralda let the end of the thought grow in silence, like fanned flames. “I haven’t ruled out the possibility.”
.
It was as good as permission. Already Hestia’s iFlown was in her hands as they stepped into the shade of the beast tree, her painted little nails typing furiously. “Have you already got photographs, or shall I take some for you at the café?”

Now that all the submissions are in for housing and leadership positions, I am pleased to announce the following characters will hold titles in the upcoming 1980-1981 schoolyear. Remember, your character will find out about this at the end of August when course letters are sent out, but for plotting purposes (and so I can show off the new system 👀 ...) they will be announced out of character now. Congratulations to the following:
Head Boy: James Potter
Head Girl: Lily Evans
Slytherin Prefects: Regulus Black, Drue Wilkes, Ella Parkinson, & Severus Snape
Gryffindor Prefects: Remus Lupin & Hestia Jones
Ravenclaw Quidditch Captains: Zoe Bell & Dorcas Meadowes
Gryffindor Quidditch Captain: James Potter
WGB President: James Potter
The JWL has received several applications for the President role, so we will host an in character vote! If you have a member (or several) of either the Junior Witches League or the Warlocks of Great Britain Jr. Chapter you can cast ONE vote PER CHARACTER. Votes will not be held until Mid-July to give everyone a fair chance of plotting/campaigning/etc. The candidates are as follows:
Rosalind Selwyn
Drue Wilkes
Esmeralda Macnair
Hestia Jones
The Head Boy & Head Girl elections will officially take place on the 24th (announced with all the other roles in August when students receive their letters). They’ve been announced now b/c canon, but feel free to play out campaigning on the dash. Your candidates are: Lex Bragnam, Bertram Aubrey, & James Potter for Head Boy along with Lily Evans & NPC for Head Girl.
Look out for the vote in July, and congrats to our new leaders! Let us know if there’s an open role you’d like to fill at any time ♡

ESMERALDA MACNAIR
She spared Hestia the embarrassment of a knowing glance. “The dating one, isn’t it? But it sounds like you’re not on it. I’ll have to ask someone else my burning questions.”
.
“Esmeralda Macnair.” Hestia tilted a coy grin in the witch’s direction. “What burning questions would you have about dating? Surely you wouldn’t be interested in whatever people might be on there?” Hestia hoped she was; it would be the perfect excuse to finally set up her account and indulge in her own curiosity.

ESMERALDA MACNAIR
Her nod was short. “If there are any,” she said to buffer expectations. There would be though; Esmeralda knew it. Not because nature would have put them there, but because at that very moment the hands she held behind her back were plucking at the strings of magic that would unearth the dearly departed from their graves. Gently and kindly, of course — Esmeralda didn’t use such divine knowledge on disrespectful parlor tricks — but unearthed nonetheless. It thrilled her to think Amy could not have guessed at the entertainment she’d be walking into when she arrived at Macnair Mortuary that rainy afternoon.
“Follow my lead,” she instructed, stepping out into the downpour and away from the awning’s safety without worry. The rain felt sharp against her skin, but she didn’t balk at the sensation. Pain was a part of experiencing life just as much as comfort.
But to Amycus, it was as good as a guarantee. Besides, she’d worn her wellies. If ever there was a time to investigate a cemetery, it was now. She gave her consent to submit to Esmeralda with an elated squeak.
