Cassandra Clare has a documented history of plagiarism, free laptop scandals, cyberbullying and generally being an awful person.

She plagiarized huge sections of her fanfics, that then had character names changed and became her “original” novels, except she didn’t change the plagiarized sections. She cyber-bullied multiple people for years and scammed people for money.

Y’all have got to stop forgetting shit like this. I was there when it was happening. I remember when Cassie Clair was a name that had a whisper campaign around it, a name people told newbies to stay away from. I remember when she scrubbed her online presence, and changed her last name to Clare instead, but I also remember when the same people who protected newbies compared her newly published books to the archives of her old fics and proved they were the same person.

Stop glorifying Cassie Clare. She’s caused extensive damage and profited. From plagiarized fanfic, which puts all of us in danger.

And aside from all of that, the idea that you should keep loving someone who does not and will not love you back is at beat, misguided... at worst, toxic as fuck.

Hi! Thank you so much! Cassandra Clare has been accused of plagiarizing by many people. She slut shames Isabelle in the Shadowhunter show, she also pits Clary and Isabelle against each other, which I find extremely obnoxious. Isabelle is a female and not the main character, so Cassandra writes her off as bitchy, which I think is lazy. She kinda has a weird sibling fetish (Jace and Clary, and when it turns out that was a lie she had Sebastian and Clary interested in each other. Then Sebastian tries to force himself on her? Ew). She has Maia forced back into a relationship who abused her and gave her PTSD. I’ll attach a couple links that go more into depth than I can. Overall I don’t have much of a problem with any of her books, and I’m not gonna hate on the books themselves or other people for liking them. I just think Cassandra Clare is pretty sketchy.
