Learned something new today in #Audacity today. And damn, this just look cool, lol. Its just minimizing tracks you dont need to see when you wanna work on ones at the top and bottom of the tracks. 以前 , yiqian, is on of those words that has time meaning AND the potential for #English language confusion. 为什么？ Why? Because 前 by itself means in front of but in this phrase it means before. I think this is what @jeremytiang was describing in his #ChangingScriptsPodcast interview in season 2, but I wasnt able to understand it then. I kind of get it now, at least I get the confusion, lol. In English we gesture behind us got the past and forward for the future BUT its the opposite in #Chinese. Thus, it makes complete sense for them to refer to the past being in front of them. Wrap your head around that English speakers. There are other languages that do this with the past, cause lets face it, you can "see" what happened in the past but not the future...but I have never studied a languagr that does this. Til now. After tomorrow's #HSK test I get to reflect on the entire year of #MandarinChinese studies and assess what worked and what didnt. 一共一共一共一共一共一共 I have made massive progress but def can see some changes moving forward, mostly in the balancing act of time spent studying and eveything else. Its been way skewed the past few months and that makes me weary. 我会吗我会吗我会吗我会吗 Can I keep learning, podcasting and increase the time on other important things like movement, laughter filled activities and get back to reading clubs? The 2nd attempt of the #HSK 3 practice test is a mixed bag. The listening destroyed my soul BUT I have noticable improvement in the reading parts. Hmmm. Overall, I went from 45% in early November to 65% today, the day before the test. This is without the writing part so it could be higher. I might just pass this test BUT either way there is some serious review needed to get the stuff that Ive missed. Six months was just not long enough to do this level justice with only two hours a day. #wishmeluck #ChangingScriptsPodcast will not come out on Sunday cause thats test day!
